Chapter One

Nicole Riker woke up with a jolt. That was the 4th nightmare this week! It was about the same guy too. A guy that Nicole thought she forgot about once she joined Starfleet. Lately he has been haunting her dreams. And last night's dream was the worst one yet. He had raped her and right before she woke up, she found out she was pregnant with his kid.

"Is everything alright, Nikki?" Data asked with a confused look.

Nicole smiled. She forgot that Data, her lover, stayed in her quarters last night after their date on the holodeck.

"Yes, just a nightmare." Nicole said, stretching.

"I have known that humans like to talk about their disturbing dreams. Would you like to talk about it, Nicole?"

Nicole thought about it. She wanted to tell Data, but shook it off. "No Data. It's alright." Nicole said.

Data tilted his head. When Nicole met Data, she thought it was the cutest thing ever!

"You have two hours before your shift in Engineering. I have coffee and breakfast ready for you." Data said after a few seconds of silence.

"Thank you." Nicole said, holding her arms out in front of her.

Data immediately came over to her. He kissed her. In the early stages of their relationship, Data was confused as to how to proceed, but now it was second nature. Who wouldn't want cuddles and kisses from their boyfriend first thing in the morning? Android or no.

"Now you have an hour and a half." Data said, after a bit.

Leaning her head back, Nicole groaned. "Fine."

She lightly shoved the android away from her. Data could've easily held his place. He had that android strength that drew Nicole to him.

She climbed out of bed, almost tripping over the orange terror named, Spot.

"Stupid cat." Nicole said, walking out of the bedroom.

Moving a small stack of PADDs from a chair, she sat down to drink her strong black coffee.

"Spot is not a stupid cat, Nikki." Data said.

Nicole turned around in her chair to face Data. She knew she messed up when she saw the look on his face. He looked hurt. Can an android be hurt?

Now I pissed off my boyfriend by calling his cat stupid. Hell! She thought.

"Data, baby, I am sorry. I didn't mean it. I guess I am still a little tired." Nicole said.

"Ah." Data paused. "Maybe you should eat. Among humans a low serum glucose level is often a result for behavioral issues." He finished.

Nicole sighed and turned back around in her chair. Leave it to Data to have an explanation for everything. She ate a couple pieces of fruit but this morning she didn't find herself all that hungry. She just moved a nice plump strawberry around in the dairy free yogurt with her spoon. Data was watching her intently.

Nicole looked up. He looked concerned. Even without emotions, Data has been around humans long enough to mimic their expressions.

"Nikki, is the food not to your liking?" Data asked.

"Hm?" Nicole realized he asked her a question. "Oh! No, it's actually quite good. I guess I am not that hungry. I'm going to go take a shower."

Nicole downed the rest of her coffee which was stone cold and bolted to the bathroom. She took a long shower, but chose not to wash her already ratty hair. She just pulled it back into a high ponytail. She then walked out of the bathroom in a pair of panties, a bra, and her under shirt. Data was watching her closely while she searched all over her quarters for a cleanish uniform.

Nicole wasn't normally this messy. She usually kept her place neat and tidy. Being the daughter of the first officer of the flagship in the fleet, she kept herself presentable. She finished getting ready and walked out of the bedroom to grab another cup of coffee from the replicator before she left for her shift in Engineering.

"What is it, Data?" Nicole asked, sitting down on the couch.

"I am curious."

"About?"

Data opened his mouth, but closed it when they heard Geordi's voice come over the comm channel.

"La Forge to Lieutenant Riker."

Nicole tapped her comm badge. "Go ahead, Geordi."

"I would like some help in Engineering. We have some junior officers today." Geordi said.

Nicole groaned. Usually she didn't mind helping Geordi with the junior officers. She was next in line to take the Chief Engineer position. However, this was the last thing she wanted.

"On my way, Lieutenant Riker out." Nicole said.

Nicole drank about half of her too hot coffee. Placing it on the table, she got up and walked over to Data. She pecked him on the lips.

"I'll see you tonight." She said, kissing him again before pulling away and walking out.
