Chapter 1

I have been living for a long time about 158 years. I have only had my boys for 16 years at the most. My first boy Paul I found hurting at the age of 2. I took him in because his tribe had no where for him to go. They had the same for twin boys by the names of Brady and Collin. They are my pride and joy.

"Hey, mom" Brady says as he runs in dumping his backpack on the ground.

"Hi. Mom" Collin runs in doing the same. They both race to the living room and I hear them turn on the video game system. The wonders of being a young boy's mom.

Paul is on patrol. He is still in his last year of school. He is not doing well. I am trying to help him but, with all the patrolling he can't stay awake during his classes. Brady and Colin aren't wolves yet, but they will be. They know what will happen to them. I explained it when Paul phased. I didn't want them taken off guard. They haven't even told their best friend Seth; they also know he will phase as well. They tried to convince me to tell Seth as well. I explained to the boys that I am not Seth's mom, so it is not me decision. I also told them I wasn't technically supposed to tell them, but as their mom I made the decision that I thought would best help them grow. I wish I could have done the same for Paul.

I start in on dinner. I'm making a nice amount of lasagna. I make 5 trays. I know Brady and Colin will eat one by themselves, Paul and Jared will eat all left over. I try to make sure he and his friend Jared both get enough to eat. Jared's parents don't know he is a wolf, so we do get him over a lot so he can eat till he is full.

I get lost in thought while making the lasagna and Garlic bread. I start thinking about my past and marriage with my husband Jasper. Although I know he died in the war, I still miss him everyday. He was the best husband that I woman could ask for. He went off to war around 17. We were married when he was 16. So, we didn't get much time to be married. We had no time to have kids either. I do have my boys now though. Last time I saw Jasper he asked for my grimoire and Journals to read. He told me he wanted them to feel like I was there with him. I was more then happy to give them to him. They went missing with him. I hope they just got lost with him and that no one took them.

"Hey, " Jared says as he walks in

"Hi Jared," I say

He takes a seat at the island. "How are you today?"

"Nostalgic" I reply "How are you?"

"Why Nostalgic? Also, I'm good. Oh, can you call my mom and tell her I'm spending the night here?" Jared asks. I tend to cover for him if he has patrol.

"It's my wedding anniversary today." I say "Yeah, I can call your mom."

"Thanks, and really? How did you meet your husband?" He asks

"I moved into a house on his family's farm. It was in the far corner. My father and I moved in and he was there to help us out when needed. My dad helped on their cotton farm when it was needed. I used to make them pies and bring them up to his family's house. I taught his younger sister how to cook and bake." I tell him "I didn't actually know Jasper lived there till I delivered my first pie. His mom had me come in for a cup of tea and a slice and he came down the stairs and walked right into me. He knocked me over, after helping me up. I met his eyes and it felt like time stood still. It seemed after that he found every excuse to come over to my house. I always invited him in for a cup of tea. I didn't want to be rude. Now did I?" I laughed

"Naw, Mrs. Whitlock. You could never be rude" Jared says chuckling.

"He eventually got the courage to ask my father to court me. We then started courting and then got married." I explained.

"What happened?" Jared asked

"He went to war. He wanted to serve his country. He was to patriotic. He went missing in action. He was the youngest major. He was thought to be dead, but his body was never found." I say with tears in my eyes. I turn away and start making the garlic bread. I don't want Jared to see me cry either.

"Do you ever hope they find him?" Jared asks

"Yes, I want to bury him with his family." I say

"You don't think he is alive?" Jared asks confused.

"How long do you think humans live Jared?" I ask chuckling

"I don't know, 100 years" Jared says shrugging

"Jared the Civil war happened over 100 years ago" I explained

"Oh, sorry" He says

"I think someone clearly needs to study more" I said putting everything in my custom-made double oven. I need a nice large oven to feed all the boys. "Speaking of studying, do you have any homework today?"

"Ugg, fine" He pulls out his studying.

"Let me know if you need any help." I say.
