Chapter One: Cabin Fever

The idea for this storyline was inspired by two different Batman storylines called; PREY, and Killing Joke. It was also inspired by two different movies called; Se7en, and Kiss the Girls.

The storyline for FEVER is chapters 1-10. You must read all the chapters to find out why Fever is so obsessed with Batman. You'll never guess the ending.

"Dear BatMan,

This will be the last letter that you will ever receive from me. As I write this note, he is taking over my body and my mind. Once he has completely taken over, I will not be able to come back. My initials are C.S. That is all he is allowing me to tell you. I need you to know that I didn't want any of this to happen. I'm not even sure when it all started. I am a kind hearted man. I've always tried to help as many people as I could. I stayed humble. But, once he fully takes over, he will become the worst of me. He will become the worst of us all. His GREED will take everything that he wants. His MALICE will destroy lives. His GLUTTONY will eat away and swallow the souls of anyone who survives his wrath. His ENVY of children born into riches, never having to worry about anything their entire lives, will end their dynasties. His PRIDE will never allow him to fail. He despises the inactions of the SLOTH that I have become. But, I believe the worst of all of them will be his LUST. Only because my lust runs deep as well. I can only imagine what he will do after I am totally gone. I can't believe what he has already done. By this time tomorrow, the world is going to know who I have become. They will Remember JAMES FEVER."

"Dear BatWan,

C.S. is gone. He was a waste of time and space. He did not deserve to have this body as a temple. It is I, James Fever, writing this now. I know who you are. And I envy you so. I love all of your money and your cute gadgets. I will destroy you and take it all. I am only writing you this note to allow you to prepare. PREPARE FOR HELL!"

James Fever stood naked in the bedroom as he finished posting the note on the wall. The only thing covering his body was the crimson blood of a whore. He had stabbed her several times before writing the note, and she was barely still alive. He hadn't actually had intercourse with her … yet. He looked down at her. His eyes revealed his intentions as he smiled with a knife in his hand. He bent down, laying on top of her, then stabbed his knife into her ribs, then he began to sexually penetrate her. The moaning from her intense pain got him excited as he thrusted his pelvis and the knife harder and harder. Finally, he was finished. He then pulled the knife from out of her ribcage, and slit her throat from ear to ear. He felt great pleasure as the spurting blood sprayed against his face. After that, he very calmly stood up, then walked into the bathroom to prepare a shower. He was humming as he showered, proud of putting another notch in his belt, and even more proud of his fresh kill.

Finally, after getting dressed, Fever opened the door to exit the bedroom. He looked one last time at his beautiful crime scene. As he walked towards the front door he had to step over Mayor Henry's dead body. You see, it was actually the Mayor's house. And, Mayor Henry was the one who hired the prostitute. He had brought her to his second home, which was a nice cabin, near the lake. Fever was actually there to kill the Mayor. Following close behind him to his cabin, it was such a delight for him, knowing he could get two for one. The Mayor was a bribe seeking extortionist. He might have been as greedy as Fever. This is why Mayor Henry had to die. He had to show the greediest man in Gotham how easy it was to take everything from him the same way he took it from Gotham citizens.

As Fever stepped over him, he took notice of the candlestick still lodged in the Mayor's throat. Through the blood you could see a glimmer of gold. Fever reached down, pulled the candlestick out of the Mayor's throat, then examined it to make sure it was actually real gold. After his confirmation, he stuck the golden candlestick in a duffle bag he carried with him. As he opened the front door, he once again took one last look at the carnage.

Hours later, Commissioner Gordon was at the crime scene. Several police cars were parked outside while him and a couple forensic detectives were looking inside for any clues they could find. As he made it to the room where the hooker was murdered, he noticed the note that was posted on the wall. He began reading it, when suddenly he was startled.

"The note was for me." Said the growly voice of a figure standing in the shadows of the bedroom.

"Batman?" Commissioner Gordon turned to ask.

"This man is sick. You should let me handle him. I don't believe your officers are capable of capturing a monster like this." Batman said as he slightly moved into the light.

Commissioner Gordon began looking over the letter. "He gave us his motives. It looks like he is some kind of deadly sins killer. Like the movie 'Seven'. He calls himself James Fever. Apparently he says he knows who you ar-"

Gordon turned his head to look over at Batman, but Batman was gone. "Typical." He said as he continued looking over the crime scene.

Just seconds later, after starting to look over the crime scene further, a call came through the CB radio. "Gordon, you better get over to Gotham's Elite Dance Academy, it's not good."

Gordon quickly made his way towards the west side of town. When he finally arrived, and walked in the building, he could barely believe the horrific site. Several bodies were slain, lying in a pattern on the dance floor. Their heads were completely decapitated.

"My God! What the HELL happened here!? Gordon exclaimed.

One of the deputies came forward. "We began receiving calls from some of the worried spouses when their significant others and their children never came home. Many of the victims have been identified."

"Where are the children?" Gordon asked.

"We don't know sir. The killer hasn't left any demands, and there hasn't been any site of the children."

"Has an Amber Alert been sent out?"

"Yes sir. We just posted an Amber Alert for seven children. Five of them are girls, and two of them are boys. Sir, many of them are children of the wealthiest citizens of Gotham. But, we haven't found a ransom note. The only thing the killer did was aligned their bodies in a pattern to make the initials, J. F."

Just as the deputy was done talking, Gordon heard a noise coming from above. When he looked up towards the ceiling, there was an open window, he could just barely see the tail end of a cape leaving the scene. Gordon thought to himself, with no ransom involved, Batman was probably the only hope of finding the kidnapped children. Also, as he looked at the ceiling, he noticed the initials B. M. or it could be initials B. W. painted in blood. He couldn't quite make out if it was an M or a W because the letters were painted sideways.

It had already been an hour since the bodies had been discovered and several people wanted to know what happened, Gordon knew he would have to make a statement to the press. He walked in front of the podium, adjusted the microphone, then began to release a statement.

"Hello, my fellow Gothamites, I am Jim Gordon, the commissioner of the GCPD. I am sorry to bring you this terrible news. Several members of the dance studio have been found dead. We believe seven adults, which we are not ready to identify, have been found murdered inside. Seven children are still missing. Along with that, I am sad to report that the slain bodies of Mayor Henry and an unidentified woman were also found not too long ago at the Mayor's second home. Our thoughts are with their families right now. We currently have no leads as to where the suspect is or what he looks like. Apparently he is going by the alias of James Fever. We also believe both crimes were committed by the same person. If anyone has any information as to where we can find this man, please contact the GCPD right away."

SMASH! A television shatters to pieces as it hits the ground. "Silly Gordo. You will never find me. Your band of witless detectives are no match for me! Bring on the real detective! Bring on the Batman!"

Then, he stepped over the television, and began walking towards the front door. Before he left, he turned around to take one last look at his marvelous crime scene.
