Author's Note: AAAAAAAh! My first story! I'm literally so happy that I actually finished writing it, because usually I'm not good at these sorts of things haha.
Anyways this story is mine, Harry Potter belongs to J.K Rowling
"Not again" I thought as I heaved into the sick bag. The worst part about traveling by airplane was the constant sickness. If it was not clear already, I get airsick quite frequently on airplanes.
Why was I on a plane, you ask? Well, my father had the unfortunate idea to quit his job and move to England, so we would be closer to our only relatives. Even though I had to sacrifice my school, my friends, and basically my entire life just so we could "bond" with a bunch of nobodies that I've never met before in my entire life.
~Flashback~
"You're not serious are you? That has to be one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard!" I wailed as tears started pouring down my face. "I have a math test next Tuesday, you can't just expect me to drop my school work and my friends just to meet live with weirdos who I have never even met before in my life!"
"Don't you dare use that tone with me, Ambrose! And it's a great chance to reconnect with our family members" My father yelled. This was the first time I've seen him show any emotion other than sadness after mum's funeral.
"What about Ronan? How will you convince him to go halfway across the world to live in a foreign country, huh? He's more stubborn than me!" I yelled in frustration. Did he expect us to just drop everything to do what he says? "What about schooling? And why are we even going to England if we don't have any relatives that live there in the first place?"
Suddenly he began to look anxious. He was fidgeting with his hands and a light sheen of sweat coated his brow. "The schooling has been taken care of" He said nervously "And Ronan actually agreed pretty quickly."
"So you're telling me my hard-headed brother actually said yes? You must have hypnotized him or something." I accused my dad with a pointed finger right at his face. He nudged it away.
"I barely had to convince him, which was surprising. Usually he would just stare at me until I changed my mind" My father chuckled.
"But you still haven't answered why we're going when we don't have any relatives there," I commented. "Ha, I bet he'll have no answer to that" I thought to myself smugly.
"We're going for your… M-Mothers family, to reconnect with them. They also sent a letter mentioning that they wanted to reunite with us as well"
"Mum had another family?" I was puzzled. Mum never mentioned any relatives. Usually when either Ronan or I asked, she would get very still and change the topic. But that didn't work out for long and we finally wheedled it out from her.
"Well, lets just say that my family doesn't like me because I don't have the right talents to fit in" My Mum said carefully
"You make it sound like a business. Why would you need the 'right talents' for a family?" My brother, Ronan piped up. I was confused as well. What did she mean by right talents?
She gave a short burst of laughter "Well, it wasn't a business, but they were perfectionists. None of us could stand out in that type of society, so they just disowned me"
"Disown you for something like that"
"That was enough reason for my parents, so they let me go. I'm glad I left anyway. So many expectations at such a young age. I do hope that never happens to you children" She added with a frown.
"Don't worry, we'll make sure that never happens to us" I said proudly, as I climbed on the bed.
"Yeah me too" Ronan joined.
~End Flashback~
"Well we sure didn't hold onto that promise for long" I thought to myself. And here I am puking in a bag. My day has been off to a great start.
"Finally off of that flying death trap" I said, relieved. I stretched my arms over my arms, tired from the long journey.
"We should probably eat something. I barely ate any food from the flight." Ronan whined. He was right though. Airplane food is notoriously bad, but we've never been on a plane before, so how should we know?
"Ok, we'll stop by somewhere, I have to talk about some to you guys anyways" my Dad responded.
"What do you have to talk to us about? Is it about our relatives?"
"Yes, sort of" He said slowly "I'll talk to you guys there"
"Tell me why we spent hours searching for a coffee shop when you had a map with you this entire time" My brother inquired.
"It's not my fault that I forgot that I had it in my pocket" I insisted
"It is your fault though. Who else's fault would it be?" He said smugly with a laugh. Trust my stupid brother to be happy about this.
"You do realize the longer we take to find a place to sit down, the longer we have to wait for Dad to tell us about our family?" I replied.
"I honestly don't want to know about them because they're the reason that mom was disowned. She couldn't even see her brother!" My brother snapped. " Just because of a stupid 'talent' that we don't even know about"
"So that's why I'm gonna explain it to both of you" My father interjected after watching us squabble. "Finally" I thought, rolling my eyes. "Why did they have to keep it a secret from us for so long, though?"
We found an empty table at a café so we sat down. The fresh smell of coffee beans invaded my senses. If the world smelled of coffee beans all the time, it would be a better place. It was quite clear that I love the smell of coffee, The taste on the other hand…
"So what do you know about your mother's family?" Our father asked us. Honestly, we didn't know anything about our mum's side of the family. The only information is that they're very strict based on what mum told us.
"Nothing. Neither you or mum ever told us about them, so how would we know" I asked testily. It's as if they expected us to be psychics.
"Fair point. Well now I will explain it to you guys"
How was it? Good? Bad? Leave a review for constructive criticism :) Remember this is my first story! I never realized ho short this is :')
