Hello all! My first fanfic! I'm so excited! I've been obsessed with Pasion de Gavilanes ever since my friends introduced me to the novela! I'm Hispanic! Soy Boriqua y Americana, so my first language is Spanglish but as you can see I'm a little out of practice with writing in Spanish...but don't worry! I will be translating this story to honor the brilliant Colombian Novela! (It'll take some time though... I promise!)
Okay... so while watching the show, I have to say that I love Franco and Saritaaaaa! To me, their love was so beautiful, so soft and tender. It's like the love you knew you didn't expect to fall on you like a ton of bricks.
So... enough of my blabbering. Enjoy the first chapter. I'll try to stay true to the novela with a little bit and sexy pieces of my own! (I do not have rights to the actual show!) Please be kind! Enjoy! :)
Chapter 1
The loss of his little sister, Libia, was possibly the worst tragedy to ever happen to Franco and his brothers. What made it absolutely unbearable is her affair with an older man. Not even older but married! With three daughters from which he's heard were quite older than his seventeen year old sister. His teeth grinded and his knuckles bristled at the thought of that vile old bastard, Bernardo Elizondo, taking advantage of his naive little sister, and no less than anything else, Libia is dead because of him. And... was expecting.
Listening to his older brothers as they drove to the bastard's farm, Franco couldn't bear the thought of confronting Bernando's family, now that having found out that nasty old man is also dead.
Juan, the oldest and the fiercest of the three Reyes brothers, drove with so much animosity. Thoughts of revenge seething from his every being at the loss of their youngest sibling.
"When I see them", Juan growled, his fists clenching the steering wheel of his rusty red truck, "I'll make them pay for Libia. For all of us."
Oscar, the second oldest and the cunning one of the three, nods his head in agreement with his hazel eyes fixated on the long road ahead.
Franco, being the youngest of the boys, frowns in sorrow, his thoughts solely fixed on the loss of his sister.
The three brothers finally pulled into their destination. The three observe the Elizondo Ranch, all slightly impressed by its grandeur, especially Oscar, who wasted no time commenting on how rich Bernando's family are and what luck the revenge will do for him.
"That's all you think about!" growled Juan as he exited his truck, followed by his brothers. "Everything has to be about money with you, ambitious prick."
"Well, of course!" argued Oscar, slamming the car door. "That's why we're here! They owe us!"
Franco bows his head in disagreement and instantly feels out of place.
The three brothers glance over at the mansion in front of them. All three in awe.
"This house is huge." commented Juan, as his deep brown eyes scans the structural details of the Elizondo mansion.
"Looks like there's no one in there, Juancho." said Oscar, scratching his chin as his cat-like eyes scans the extravagant windows and balconies.
"They could take us for thieves." uttered Franco, his discomfort spiking.
"Well...someone will have to let us in." answered Juan, his head spiraling with vengeance while taking a few steps towards the grand house.
"For the last time, this is pointless!" shouted Franco, his nerves starting to get the best of him. "What are we going to tell them, huh? How are we going to introduce ourselves?"
Noting the discomfort in his youngest brother, Juan stopped in his tracks and turned to glare at Franco.
"Why don't you just go back to the truck and stop being such a pain in the ass?"
Juan eyed Franco's distress.
"You're even shaking. We're not here to show fear but to seek revenge!"
A few whispers could be heard nearby and it was getting closer and closer to the three brothers.
Oscar warned. "Shut up! Someone is coming."
Franco and Juan tore their glares from each other and turned their heads to what Oscar was referring to.
The whispers belonged to two young women. The three brothers stood perfectly still as the two girls walked and talked amongst themselves. Franco instantly became nervous when the lighter toned girl came to a halt and narrowed her eyes at the brothers, while alerting the other girl at her side, who's big brown eyes sparkled with complete curiosity and child-like interest. Franco felt Oscar sigh nervously but was a bit worried at how calm Juan seemed to be while the two girls whispered some things to each other. France shifted a bit as soon as the serious looking girl stepped forward while the other followed with keen interest.
Franco shifted again, watching the serious young woman walking towards him and his brothers. His shoulders tensed when he saw the brutal coldness embedded in the dark brown eyes of the young woman. He immediately disliked her. He can definitely tell that this woman isn't friendly from the way she held herself. Almost as if she had the upper hand. She may seem small and dainty, but there is such a coldness about her Franco cannot stand.
The pale young woman stood in front of them while the other stood behind her. Franco eyed them and compared the two now that they're so close to them. The girl in front was a head shorter than the other and fairer with dark shoulder length hair and delicate specks of freckles sprinkled lightly on her tiny nose and cheeks. In contrast to the second one, she was striking with her darker yet smooth tan complexion, long dark hair, and the prettiest doe eyes he'd ever seen. The first girl could've been pretty, but in Franco's taste, she appears too much of a plain Jane. If he were single, he'd go after the other one.
"Good afternoon." greeted the cold woman, her voice just as chilling as her dark eyes. "How can we help you?"
Franco and Oscar stayed quiet but thankfully Juan mustered a reply.
"Is this the house of the Elizondos?"
"Yes, this is." The second girl answered, her doe-eyes sparkling. "How can we help you?'
Franco felt more at ease at the tone of her voice. She's obviously a lot friendlier than the other one. Juan smirked after their response and the three brothers stepped closer to them. As they did, the sparkle in the friendly girl's eyes diminished and the other slanted her eyes and tensed her frail shoulders.
"Well, we need to speak to the lady of the house and the rest of the family." addressed Juan, his voice rough with demand.
Franco felt the tension radiating from the cold girl as she tore her hard gaze from them to the girl beside her. She turned back to the brothers and still held her hard composure.
"We're sorry, but she isn't here." she affirmed. Franco could see her tiny fingers curl into her hand, forming small fists at her sides. He can tell she's nervous. Through her nerves, she still kept talking. "She left on a trip for several weeks. So, can we help you?"
Franco could tell there was a hint of arrogance in her tone and that irritated him. Who is this plain Jane probing her snobbish freckled nose in their business? Who does she think she is? His annoyance replaced the anxiety he had and resorted to lowering the pride of this so called young lady.
"Do you both even work here?" Franco asked with such aggression and disrespect that the bland woman narrowed her dark eyes at him.
Just before she could even open her mouth, the other girl answered, clearly aware of how agitated the bland girl was getting.
"No, sir." the friendly one responded, her pretty painted lips parting to a radiant smile. "We're not maids. We're the owners of this ranch."
Franco swallowed the small pride he had as well as his brothers. The friendly one didn't even stop there.
"We're the daughters of Gabriella Elizondo."
Pause
The three brothers just looked at each other as the friendly girl simply smiled while the other kept her serious stance. Oscar was the one to break the silence.
"Look, we really need to talk to your mother." he pleaded slyly. Franco glanced at his brother and mentally shook his head at him. Oscar always thinks he can slither his way with that tone. He glanced back at the two women and wondered. Perhaps he can indulge the friendly one better than the bland one because she seems like a big piece of work. It won't be easy trying to get on that woman's good side.
"Where is she?" added Oscar.
The bland one let out a frustrated sigh and coldly responded. "We already told you that she went on a trip, so you can't talk to her. She should be on a plane to Florida."
Franco could feel the severe coldness in that woman. Man, he really didn't like her at all. She's bland, stuck up, and rude as all hell.
"But just wait a minute." the bland one added. "Perhaps I can get someone else to assist you."
She excused herself and stepped away from her sister to speak to an older woman with a short black bob, who had just come out the mansion. All the while the bland one spoke with the older lady, the friendly sister stayed where she was to show her obvious interest in the three conflicted brothers.
Franco and Oscar smiled back at the young girl, obviously favoring her over her hard and distasteful sister. Just then that one started to come back with the older woman. She noticed her sister was making pretty eyes at the men and drew an exasperated sigh before practically dragging her away by her arm. Franco watched them leave with disdain, especially at the bland one. How can that woman be so nasty while her sister is the complete opposite?
The older woman now was left alone with the brothers. She seemed a bit nervous but she held herself as she smiled at them with upmost sincerity. Franco smiled back, she reminded him of his mother.
"Good afternoon, ma'm." greeted an impatient Juan, now that the two sisters are out of the way.
"Hello." responded the older woman, still smiling tenderly at the brothers. "How may I help you?"
"We need to speak to the Elizondo family", interjected Oscar, tipping his hat out of respect for the lady, "but the girls have told us that their mother isn't at home."
Franco turned his head to see where the two sisters were heading. The two were walking to a black jeep. He watched the bland one climb to the driver's seat meanwhile the friendly one looked over her shoulder to shoot him a flirty smile. He smiled back but had to turn back to his brothers and the older woman because the bland one started reprimanding her sister. Jeez...he felt bad for that friendly sister. Must be hard being related to that one.
"Yes, it's true." said the lady. "Mrs. Elizondo is away in Florida, but I'm in change of all projects here on this ranch, particularly the constructions."
The brothers blanked at this random information. They just wanted to talk to the family. What does construction have to do with this?
"What construction?" asked Franco.
The older woman simply smiled nonchalantly, "Yes, the construction of the cottage out back? Aren't you guys workers?"
"No." affirmed Juan, his patience running thin. "We know nothing about construction."
"Look, ma'm," said Oscar, also becoming impatient, "We simply came here to talk to the family about personal matters. A private matter."
The lady sighed in disappointment.
"Okay, but in that case, you may want to come back in a couple of weeks when Mrs. Elizondo is finally at home."
Juan is finally fed up. Franco and Oscar looked over at him and saw the desperation in his eyes. The two younger brothers soon became anxious.
"We can't wait that long," demanded Juan, "it's an urgent matter!"
The older woman soon becomes anxious and in shock with Juan's aggressive demand.
"I'm very sorry, but if you're not the workers that we were waiting for, then I have to ask you to leave. I can't allow strangers inside the house."
Juan steps forward, completely out of patience.
"Look, we are not leaving until we talk to someone." He seethes and taps Oscar on the chest. "Now go get those girls back. I'm sure they would want to hear what we have to say."
As soon as Oscar turns to follow his older brother's command, the older woman stops him.
"Wait a second..." she cuts in, clearly uncomfortable with how sour the situation was turning. "Who are you men?"
"We're Libia's Reyes older brothers." declared Franco, his blue eyes boring into the wide eyes of the older woman. Judging by her shocked expression, she knew Libia.
"Does that ring a bell, ma'm?" sneered Oscar at the woman's shock. "Libia had a relationship with the owner of this ranch."
Oscar's sneer faded and he turned in the direction of where the two girls were still arguing in their black jeep. Franco could swear he saw the bland one roll her eyes in their direction. Damn, what is her problem?
"I'll go get those girls back."
Again the older woman stopped him and this time he stayed still like his brothers, which calmed her a little.
"It's okay." she said, defeated. "I'll let you in. Follow me, please."
She turned and started taking tentative steps towards the house. The brothers followed, all three preparing themselves at what may lie ahead.
