The single quality that is common among every single living creature on this planet, is fear

Its funny then, that as common as fear is we so easily underestimate its power...

Fear of growing close to someone,

A subsequent fear of loss...

A fear of failure...

And as more people begin to depend on you, those fears can take on greater power...

(Moments before Malefor's defeat at the paws of Spyro and Cynder inside the planets core)

Fires burned and blazed as rocks began to quake and crumble before the shockwaves of the duel between good and evil, the very magic energy from their battle causing more damage to the already crumbling core of the planet,

Malefor; the first purple dragon adorned with his large curved horns having been chipped from the constant clashing with his current foes and his dulled purple scales darkened by the influence of dark aether complemented by his tan underbelly and bladed tail, with paws and wing tips fading to a deep crimson before giving way to his typical hue at the wrists and joints of his limbs strong in body and in magic as well as once long ago having been trained from a young age by the guardians in each element to be the hero that all of dragon kind could look up to was standing here amongst the chaos claws tightening, axe shaped tail trembling as he was being pushed back by two children.

One a purple dragon like himself known as Spyro; the fabled hero meant to save the world from malefors tyranny, savior of the guardians, slayer of gaul one of his armys once most dangeorus generals adorned with a golden spear-like tipped tail giving way to his buff and muscled form coated in a much brighter shade of purple scales and golden underbelly which were all complimented by his much more straightly pointed yellowish horns, his whole image being tied all together by his bright violet eyes which were laser focused ahead of him on the ancient dragon before him.

His one and only comrade the dragon who stuck by him to defeat Malefor and had saved his life more than a few times just as he had hers, was none other than Cynder; the black dragoness, the terror of the skies, the cloud-ripper, lightbane, one of Malefor's own generals who he had organized to be corrupted from birth with the vile magic of dark aether the very same energy that runs through his veins, now freed from his clutches once and for all by the bond she shares with the kind young drake beside her, she who was even in the face of their greatest foe yet standing strong and determined, her black scales shining with the glow of the surrounding flames being complemented by her bright red underbelly and topped off with her four straight flawless white horns, and her blade like silver tail, her color scheme and less brutal and more sleek physique being more accentuezid by the presence of her silver choker and four silver cuffs which adorned each of her wrists, a remnant of her time as Malefor's general still one of her more defining traits, all of which paled in comparison to her shining ivy green eyes which like Spyro's were hardened with courage and determination.

They had been clashing with the ancient and much more experienced drake having been able to hold their own against him as they avoided many blasts of dark aether before retaliating with attacks of their own ranging from Spyro's ever powerful fire to Cynder's potent wind blasts, managing to gain ground on the dark master before He roared in fury at being bested by two children and declared in his deep gravelly voice "You cannot defeat me, I AM ETERNAL!" before he let loose a stream of dark aether from his maw, Spyro and Cynder sending out beams of light of their own to counter him.

All three dragons engaging in a contest of strength and will as they mustered all the strength they could, building up their respective aether and expelling it from their jaws before the 3 beams of light met in the middle, both Spyro's and Cynder's individual strength being much to weak to oppose Malefor's alone, but combined were actaully just enough to push the force of Malefor's attack back at him, the resulting force in their joint attack sending the dark dragon falling to the Crystal ground that made up the core below them, his back collided with the hard surface with tremendous force, causing a small amount of blood to be expelled from his open mouth as he gasped for air and began to once again rise to his feet still hoping to turn this battle around and defeat the two who had caused much trouble for him.

When suddenly just as he was about to ready another barrage of attacks he began to feel a sudden sharp pain in the core of his chest, his own blood running cold as he found he could no longer breath and his vision was begining to become cloudy and faded, he closed his eyes to try and focus and the pain only increased with each blood pumping beat of his heart, and then when he believed the pain could not get any worse it was multiplied tenfold when it felt as if someone had just ripped his chest open and tore his heart out, when he opened his eyes in shock at the sudden bolt of agony he was met with an image that rendered him truly breathless, a hazy purple hued dragon shaped specter, its right claw buried in his chest, and yet what baffled him the most in this moment was he was not bleeding whatsoever, there was not a drop of blood leaking from where this creature had pierced his hide, and then something happened that gave the two young dragons who were standing ready to face off against the purple tyrant once more, immense chills up their spines.

Malefor, the dark master, the one responsible for all of Avalars suffering, began to scream in complete and utter agony.

The two young dragons did not understand what was going on, one moment they had been fighting Malefor the next, he was standing there beginning to scream as he was gripping his chest with his claws before falling to his knees and continuing to shreak in pain out of nowhere at all. Though unaware to what Malefor was witnessing, they were unable to perceive the spectral creature pull its ghost like claw from malefors chest and drawing with it a small dark hued purple orb of energy, all around Malefor the world was beginning to fade to black as he was suddenly surrounded by visages of the many lives he has taken in the result of this war, faces of mothers and fathers and children of all species dripping with blood. All of them closing in on him before grasping their limbs to him and slowly enveloping his sight in darkness, his trembling yellow eyes filled with fear as he screamed for the first time in ages in true and complete terror.

Meanwhile the dark dragons body had actually fallen into a state of unconsciousness startling the two young heroe's. When the Dark master had not moved for almost a full minute, they believed he had perished somehow but were not keen on going to check his pulse, and with the world crumbling around them they had nowhere to go now, no way to escape the ensuing death of the planet, but Spyro guided by the words of his first elemental teacher and the one who became his guide for most of his journey to protect what he cared about and learn just what he was meant to do in this world, the fire guardian Ignitus his father figure for a good portion of his life, was able to expel a massive blast of energy using all the power he could muster, to use the purple dragons innate control over a one of a kind power known as dragon time to turn back the clock and undo the damage caused by the destroyer, the entire world was encompassed in bright purple light. Everything had gone quiet for the two of them for mere moments when Cynder had uttered three words that only just barely graced Spyro's senses. Cynder spoke in a hushed tone, half hoping they would reach her dear friend and half fearfully hoping they would forverer remain hidden and drowned out by sound.

"I love you" she spoke

It was at this moment the light emanating from the purple drake exploded outward and began to repair the world, the dark master defeated, his armys of grublins and orcs scrambling as they were being taken down almost effortlessly by the combined efforts of the other races now that they had no leader to issue may commands. The three remaining guardians and spyros teachers stood side by side looking upon the setting sun as the darkest day they had ever experienced was finally coming to an end.

Volteer, the electric guardian gazed proudly at the sight of the now floating grassy hills floating above the ground they stood on now no longer connected to the land, now suspended in mid air somehow weightlessy detached as a result of spyros interference, ever excited to study all the phenomena that may have been caused by the young dragons power.

Cyril the cold and ever confident ice dragon, was curious and also loathing of the events that would unfold between the seperate race's now that the war was coming to an end, it would mean a chance for a new era of peace and cooperation between them all if they were careful enough.

The earth guardian Terrador could not help but smile at the implications of the world still being in mostly one piece, and yet as Spyro's adopted dragonfly sibling, sparx hovered next to his horns with a concerned expression adorning his normally chipper face, the old war veteran was beyond worried for the fate of his fellow guardian Ignitus and the fates of Spyro and Cynder.

But... Im getting ahead of myself this story doesn't begin with the guardians or with sparx or the other race's, this story begins the moment Spyro and Cynder find themselves waking up amongst the plains of Avalar, but they were not as alone as they thought for not to far from where they began to stir someone else began to awaken as well.

Malefor the fabled child of prohecy, prodigy of the elements opened his now duel colored eyes, one iris a vibrant indigo on the same level as Spyro's the other an almost eerie shade of yellow that once had made up his entire sclera now only illuminated his right eye.

Malefor the dark master, scourge of dragonkind was dead and what was left was something not quite old but not entirely new either.

Okay... So i have never written a story before so i have no idea how this turned out and if you made it this far well congrats you all get cookies, I dont know for sure if ill continue this story and if i do i wont be able to provide constant updates as my life is very hectic right now, but the main reason i started writing this was i am a massive fan of the legend of spyro trilogy and its lore, more than anything i was enraptured with the idea of a dark and evil purple dragon, and i was kinda disapointed by the lack of decent fictional work of Malefor, not to say there arent a few good pieces, one of which being the story that actually inspired this idea in a sense if you want to read it the story is called " a duel with destiny" by 4dragons they are on fanfiction and i believe if you enjoy anything i end up writing you should for sure check out theirs and make sure to follow up on it as it is a true work of art in my eyes, but im getting off topic, like i said i dont know if ill contiue this but i would really like to given the opportunity should i be able to and if anyone does enjoy this little prologue at all i hope i didnt displease any of you lol and i look forward to taking some of you guys on a journey through Avalar
