Note 1: As mentioned in the last chapter of Beautiful, Karry Universe was meant to come first, not New Justice, but as plans for Karry changed, New Justice remained solid – it made more sense for me to start the first half of New Justice while Karry was replanned. Don't worry though, the first chapter of the latest segment of Karry is now written and ready for edits, so everything is on schedule as planned now.
Note 2: Now, here we are at the first New Justice post-Crisis. This starts about two months after Crisis, right after Rae's appearance on Beautiful. So, let's begin.
The Random Barry Problem
On Earth 50, also known as WestAllen Earth, the Barry of that world was looking up at the sky. Sarge, his own Kryptonian dog, was next to him as he gave a whimper.
"Cisco, is there anything we can do?" Barry asked.
"It's coming closer," Cisco stated as Barry bit his lip; he had tried to stop the red sky but had been knocked back. There was a man with pale skin and an army of shadows far up in the skies, along with a man who looked like Clark.
"There has to be something I can do!" Barry implored.
"There is. Barry, run, get off this world," Cisco stated in his ear. "You have to survive. I'm going to try to evacuate as many people as I can."
"Yourself included," Barry stated as he picked up Sarge and ran. "I can't do this without you and Caitlin," he added.
"We'll be fine," Caitlin's voice came over coms as a portal opened in front of Barry.
"See you soon," Barry stated as he ran through his own-made portal, coming out in a large, red-domed location area that had various animals' habitats all around. They were close to what looked like a farmhouse.
Sarge gave a bark out as he ran to the house and inside. Barry followed to see Sarge rubbing against a Golden Retriever, who in turn, licked the pup.
"I know you," Barry smiled at the older dog who looked up at him, remembering when the dog had come to deliver Sarge in the first place only weeks ago. "This is New Justice," Barry smiled; this was Sarge's mother who was licking her pup. "Where is everyone…?" Barry noticed the TV was still on to see the red sky reports, but no signs of anyone in the house – the news confirmed that Superboy was out in the city, with various Justice League members doing their best to keep the calm, but there was no word on where Supergirl and Flash were. "Let's hang out here."
Barry rubbed his shoulder. He had been hurt when he tried to stop his world's destruction. He would heal up and then go see if he could help and find this world's Supergirl or the Flash and help here. Not to mention, he'd find his own Cisco and Caitlin on their multiverse system, to make sure they had survived.
-New Justice/Present Day-
"Barry," Rae said coming into the kitchen to see Barry at the stove, cooking. Chris was at his spot eating as usual – he was in his school uniform as he shoved food into his mouth. "How many times do I tell you I'm a chef. I cook here."
"Ah, but I always liked cooking breakfast," Barry said giving his cousin a pout. "Can't I help you in the morning?"
Rae tilted her head and gave him a frown but couldn't hold it up as she smiled. "Fine, I could use all the help I can get to feed this one," Rae joked as she rubbed Chris's hair, messing it up.
"Hey!" Chris complained as Rae removed her hand from his hair, giving the black hair gel on her hand a disgusting look as she went to clean it off. "It took me a long time to get that just right," Chris complained; Rae hadn't noticed how straight his hair had been or how much darker it looked. Now she actually looked at Chris she noticed the difference in his appearance. "And I don't eat that much."
"You do," Rae said. "But what are you trying to do. Impress some girl?"
"Um…" Chris said, seeming not sure how to reply.
"Oh dude, you should have asked me," Barry said with a smile. "I know a thing or two about girls."
"Considering who you married on your Earth, he's probably better off not," Rae said.
"Harsh but true," Barry mused with a nod as he popped a strawberry in his mouth. Iris really wasn't the best choice for marriage.
"Look, Chris, take my advice and wash the junk out of your hair. It makes you look fake. Be yourself. Your kind of amazing," Rae said and Chris gave a blink but gave Rae a smile. "But wash it out of your hair now and then run to school. You're going to be late."
"On it," Chris said, giving Rae a nod as he jumped up. He gave Misty a pet before running to the bathroom.
"Not bad, Ms. Mom," Barry joked, tossing a strawberry at Rae who caught it easily and then threw it back at speed. Barry almost missed it, having to grab at speed. Unfortunately, he ended up exploding it and got strawberry all over his hand. Rae laughed at the mess and Barry stuck out his tongue and then licked some of the strawberry off.
Barry tossed some water on his hand from the sink to wash off the rest. "I'm going out for the day. See you later," Barry said and then called for his Kryptonian dog, Sarge. Sarge came jumping along to his master as the two left, passing Kara who was holding Leona. Barry gave her a smile and waved at the baby before taking off at super speed with Sarge.
"Want waffles?" Rae asked her wife. "I'm sure I can turn this mess Barry was making into a nice waffle batter."
"Actually, can we talk?" Kara asked as she took a seat and sat Leona on her lap.
"Oh, that's never good," Rae mused, running into the seat next to Kara with speed. Leona laughed at her mother's antics; the little girl's speedster powers were starting to show faster than Rae had expected of the girl. She loved it when Rae ran around her. Her Kryptonian strength was also starting to show a bit as well. "So, what's going on?"
"It's about your cousin," Kara sighed. "I get his world didn't make it back…" After the Paragons had restored the multiverse during Crisis, some worlds hadn't made it back, including Random Barry's world.
"It didn't," Rae said with a nod. "You're not happy he's here?"
"I was fine at first when he was looking for his Caitlin and Cisco, but he's not having much luck," Kara said, and Rae knew that was true. "And I know he's not the man who killed Clark and I am fine with alternates of Barry visiting… but one living here? In this house? Rae, please, I need a break. I mean how long is he staying? Can't he go somewhere else?"
"Well, Home Base apparently has gotten a bug infestation that Red Tornado and the nerds are trying to fix," Rae said. The Justice League had been staying in Watchtower during their meetings recently due to that. "But I can ask Aunt Nora and Uncle Henry if he can stay there for a while…? Leona, want to come see grandma and grandpa with me?"
Rae took the baby and gave her wife a kiss. "Clarky, come," Rae called to her dog as she got Leona in the stroller at speed and the group ran off.
"That's not what I meant," Kara said, but sighed as she picked at whatever breakfast was ready. She was glad Rae took Leona though since she had to get to work for the day.
-New Justice-
Rae ran into the house and paused as Clarky gave a bark. Her aunt was on the phone but held up a finger, telling her to wait a moment. Rae sat and waited as her aunt finished up her phone call.
"Sorry, a new client," Nora said, having recently gotten back into being a Real Estate agent. Rae had been a bit confused on it at first and had wondered if it was a Crisis change for the woman, or Rae just not knowing. She figured she had just not known since everything else seemed the same. "You missed Henry and the boys. Took them to school and went into work."
"That's fine," Rae said as Nora went over to kiss Leona.
"I always like seeing my granddaughter though," Nora said with a smile. "What's with the unexpected visit?"
"I wanted to talk to you about Barry," Rae said.
"Barry?" Nora paused. "Oh, the one who lost his world. What do you call him? Random Barry?"
"Yeah, that one," Rae said.
"Why do you call him that?" Nora mused now.
"Because he used to turn up and help worlds at random," Rae shrugged.
"Thus 'Random' Barry," Nora chuckled, before continuing, "well, we have been meaning to ask you how long he is staying?" Rae had to pause at this – it was almost exactly what Kara had asked. "I mean we love seeing alternate Barrys but having one here this long is strange."
Rae got it. Her aunt wanted to know when Barry was leaving the Earth and now Rae wondered if her wife had meant the same thing. It must sting, somewhat, having a version of their son around constantly, a living reminder of what their own son could have been.
"Well, he's trying to find some friends. It's easier for him to stay here since we don't have a Barry," Rae mused, knowing she couldn't ask her aunt and uncle to let Barry stay here now.
"Okay, so what did you want to talk to me about him?" Nora asked.
"Nothing," Rae sighed. "I've got to go."
She needed to find somewhere no one would care about Barry for him to stay for a while and she knew where. Rae ran out with Leona stroller and Clarky following. "That was a bit weird, even for her," Nora mumbled but stopped as her cellphone rang and she went to pick it up.
-New Justice-
Rae had arrived at her grandparents where the maid told her that her grandmother was in the back yard. Clarky ran ahead of her into the garden where her grandmother, Emily, was with three other woman.
"Clarky," Emily said, giving the dog a pat. Emily smiled as she stood up and went to hug Rae. "This is an unexpected pleasure! Girls, this is my granddaughter, Rachel, and my great granddaughter Leona." Emily smiled at the girl in the stroller as Rae mouthed 'Rachel?' to herself, not used to being called by her full name, except by Annie Grant.
"I can't believe you're a great grandmother," one of the ladies at the table said.
"Well, I'm sorry to interrupt," Rae spoke as Emily took the buckles off Leona's stroller and picked her up to show her friends.
"Nonsense," Emily said. "You're always welcomed here."
"What do you do, Rachel?" Another one of Emily's friend asked.
Before Rae could answer Emily started: "Oh, Rachel is an amazing chef. One of the best. She created all the dishes for the Kryptonian Restaurant. Her wife is the half-owner of the Kryptonian Sanctuary and the Island Amusement Park. Both are very impressive and make quiet a lot. They changed the world, bringing back extinct species."
"Yeah…" Rae muttered trying not to raise an eyebrow at the way her grandmother was boasting.
"Rachel should join the DAR," one of the ladies said. "With her wife. We're very forward thinking."
"DAR?" Rae asked.
"Daughters of the American Revolution," Emily added. "You know you had ancestors fighting besides George Washington? The DAR does a lot of functions and other events."
"Um… grandma can I talk to you in private for a moment?" Rae asked. "Clarky, be nice." Rae added when she saw Clarky give a bark at one of the women who tried to pet him, but at his mistress's voice, Clarky sat down.
"Of course, come on," Emily said, bringing Rae back into the house.
"Okay, first off," Rae said when they were just the two of them and Leona. "Rachel? You know I don't go by my full name."
"Sorry, they are very proper ladies," Emily said.
"And what's with the bragging?" Rae asked.
"Oh, I had to throw it in their faces how successful you are. They are always boasting about their kids and grandkids achievements. And when Joan ran away they treated me like…" Emily paused and Rae just gave a nod, letting her grandmother know she understood. "But now I have the most amazing granddaughter and granddaughter-in-law the world could offer, but I can't brag about your other life achievements," Rae gave another nod; everything about the Flash and Supergirl was off-limits. "But you are very successful in your real lives as well. I can brag about that, at least."
"Well, tell you what. One day invite over all the ladies of the DAR and I'll make them a feast that puts the best chefs they can hire to shame," Rae said and Emily gave a smile. "But there is absolutely no way I am joining." Emily gave a sigh, having expected that. "But there was a favor I needed to ask of you."
"Oh?" Emily asked.
"Your pool house is like a real guest house, right? It has a bed, TV, and even a kitchen," Rae said.
"It does," Emily said.
"Good, could my cousin stay there for a while?" Rae asked.
"Your cousin? The multi-billionaire of that other world?" Emily asked.
"No not that one," Rae said.
"The one you went on all those multiverse missions with who is also pretty well off," Emily said.
"No not him," Rae said.
"The one who you mentor as a speedster who has his own small company?" Emily asked.
"No," Rae had to pause, impressed at how much her grandmother knew already of the Karry, Prime and SuperEarth Barrys. "You don't know this Barry. He… lost his world," Rae paused; she hadn't unlocked her grandparents' memories of Crisis and decided not to. There was no reason to give them those memories. "It's complicated, but he's been staying with us and Kara needs a little break. So, can he stay here?"
"Of course," Emily said and Rae hugged her grandmother and kissed her cheek.
"Thanks, now I have to go find him and tell him," Rae said, taking Leona back from her grandmother to a pout from her relative. "We'll come back for Friday night dinner soon." Emily gave a smile as the group went into the back and Rae put Leona back into her stroller. Clarky was now enjoying the attention Emily's friends was giving hm. "Clarky, we're going."
"So soon?" One of the ladies asked.
"This was just a pop in to say hi. I have important places to be," Rae said.
"Where?" One asked.
"Sorry, corporate secrets. Can't let anything go," Rae said, giving her grandmother a wink, who tried not to hide a smirk. It was a complete lie. Rae had nothing to do for the Sanctuary, but it made Emily's friends curious, and maybe even jealous, as Rae turned and left with her daughter with Clarky following her out.
-New Justice-
Rae ran into Watchtower. Barry was sitting there with Adam Cray and Nora Darkh, looking at the computers. Laurel and Donna were also there, but sitting away from the nerds and Nora.
"Sorry, Barry, no new news on Cisco or Caitlin," Adam said to Barry, who was petting Sarge.
"Oh," Barry sighed, expecting this but still disheartened. "Hey, we're having a Star Trek movie night, right?" Barry asked Adam.
"Of course, Winn and Jess are going to join as well," Adam said with a smile. "Nora, you in?"
"Sure, why not," Nora said, kissing Adam.
"Ah, true love," Rae said, embarrassing the two. "Hey Barry, how about we go for lunch together?"
"Sounds fun," Barry said. "MIA portal to Central-National."
"Rae, could we have a word first?" It was Laurel coming up, causing both speedsters to pause. "Justice League word..." Laurel's eyes went to Barry as she said this. Laurel was holding Owen – hers and Oliver's son they had made through the artificial womb.
"Okay, I get it," Barry said, raising his hands and giving a grin. "Meet you on the street." Barry gave Rae a smile as he called for Sarge to follow him, putting a leash as he did.
Once Barry was through the portal, Leona started to cry, and Rae knew she needed a diaper change. "Talk while I change," Rae said, taking Leona to a nearby flat surface and taking off the dirty diaper at super speed and changing her fast.
"I don't think we could," Donna said as Leona was changed in a matter of second and now happy. "But it's about Barry." Rae nearly groaned at that but held her tongue as she picked up her daughter.
Laurel put a hand on Donna, telling Donna to let her take the lead. "We know he's not the same Barry who killed our loved ones," Laurel began, "and we get on almost all worlds he's a hero and this Barry is a hero, but…" Laurel paused, "it's hard having him here for more than just a visit for the people whose loved ones he killed."
"Can you just be direct?" Rae stated, knowing where this was going but wanted Laurel to say it out loud.
"We want him gone," Laurel sighed. "He can't stay here." Rae gave Laurel a look but didn't say anything. "Look, Rae last time we took in a stranded we all voted on it. Thea won. Barry, we didn't vote on."
"And I don't actually have to let us vote on this. I am leader of the Justice League and he's my cousin, practically my brother. It's my decision," Rae said, getting tired of people wanting Barry gone. She couldn't do this to her wife or her aunt, but she could to the League. "And in case you forgot, he fought for our world, during the Nazi Invasion, during the war with the League of Assassins and during Crisis. He doesn't have a home to go back to and I think he would prefer that home. But, until he's ready to leave he will be welcomed here. Got it?"
"Yes," Laurel and Donna said, realizing they pushed a button and annoyed Rae. They knew better than to get on her bad side.
"Besides, our Barry killed all my loved ones. I was the last one remaining in the old League, don't forget. He was my loved one too. Now, any other objections to Barry being here?" Rae asked looking around at the only other two people here.
"No," Nora spoke with a shake of her head.
"I like your cousin," Adam added in as Laurel and Donna blushed a little. Owen began to cry now.
-New Justice-
Rae had met Barry on the street right by the zap tunnel. She had put Clarky on a leash as well, and had Leona back in her stroller. "I know a great little place with outdoor seating we can take the dogs," Rae said.
"Sounds nice," Barry said, but paused. "Are you okay?"
"Right as rain, why?" Rae stated, a little bit forcefully than intended, her annoyance at people not wanting Barry here still weighing on her mind.
"Oh, erm, nothing," Barry quickly moved the conversation along, realizing it was best not to question her further. They ran a bit to get closer to where they were going to eat before stopping to walk in normally. "So, any reason for lunch… Iris?"
"What?" Rae asked but paused as she saw Iris in her wheelchair with a man that was familiar. He had awful scars on his face and Rae was trying to remember where she knew him from. "Iris."
"Rae," Iris said, giving a smile that was obviously fake. "And… Barry?"
"Hi," Barry said with a wave but looked at the wheelchair and then at Rae.
"I feel like the odd man out," the scarred man said.
"Oh, you remember Rae. She was one of my bridesmaids," Iris said. "Her cousin, Barry. This is Thadd. He's Eddie's brother." It clicked into place for Rae: not only was this man Eddie's brother, but he was also a guard at Alcatraz, meaning he was one of the few people on Earth outside the Justice League and family who knew the Reverse Flash's face but not his name.
"You look familiar. Were you at the wedding?" Thadd asked Barry now.
"No," Rae said before Barry could say anything. "He actually just got back from an arctic expedition. Been gone for years."
"Wow, how was that?" Thadd asked.
"Cold," Barry said quickly, giving Rae a look but going along with it as Leona gave a cry.
"Are you babysitting?" Iris asked.
"I think it's called parenting when it's your child," Rae said with a smile as she rocked the stroller.
"You're a mom?" Iris asked.
"Yeah," Rae said; she wasn't really sure how much the Wests knew about her life now. They had been close once, but after Wally's death, and Julia and Walter's quitting as heroes, she'd seen very little of her former friends. "Nice bumping into you but we should get to our lunch…" Clarky and Sarge gave a bark as if agreeing. Rae hit Barry with her leg, to get him to talk.
"Well, nice seeing you again Iris," Barry said as the two moved off.
"I swear I know him," Rae could just hear Thadd saying as they moved off.
The two speedsters got to the restaurant and asked for a table outside. They were seated right away and given menus. Clarky and Sarge sat with each other under the table as Rae took Leona out of the stroller and took a bottle out to give her. "Looks good," Barry said of the menu.
"Well, you know what they say is the mark of a good restaurant?" Rae asked and Barry shook her head. "It's where other chefs go when they are tired of their own cooking." Barry gave a smile and laugh to that.
"I feel there is something you wanted to talk to me about though," Barry stated as a fact.
"Oh yeah, my grandparents have a pool house with everything you need. They agreed to let you stay there for a while," Rae said quickly now.
"Something wrong with me staying with you?" Barry asked.
"Little crowded and with Leona not sleeping through the night I thought you might like a little privacy," Rae said and Barry gave a nod. "I do have to ask though, what are your plans?"
"Plans?" Barry asked.
"Well, I know you want to continue trying to find your Caitlin and Cisco, but you're not exactly exploring the multiverse now, and just hanging out here," Rae said. "Do you plan on leaving to find them?"
"I can continue to look through the system," Barry sighed. "But honestly I always liked this world. It's fun and it's kind of perfect for me right now. I mean I don't have a world. You don't have a Barry. This world is different to my world, so I don't have constant reminders of what I've lost. Besides, your Barry was never announced as dead, so I have the perfect identity to slip into without question. If we can find my Cisco and Caitlin, I was hoping to stay here? I could easily apply for some jobs. I mean, I was a pretty good CSI back home… or maybe STAR Labs can use a bright young man. Jess could hook me up there."
"That works for you, but I don't think Frankie wants a twin brother," Rae mused. "And we already made Caitlin triplets. I don't think adding a fourth identical sister is possible."
"Well, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it," Barry said as their waiter brought the drinks they offered.
"To crossing the bridge when it comes," Rae said, taking her drink as she still hung onto Leona and fed her her bottle. The two toasted to that as they took a sip and went to order their food.
-New Justice-
Cat Grant was walking into her penthouse with Joel and the kids. Carter had Ember, his Kryptonian seeing-eye-dog in his harness.
"So, tonight is Rae's night off. What do you…?" Joel didn't finish his sentence as when he walked into the penthouse the smell of food hit him. His son, Adam Foster, was sitting at the table along with Annie. Both were eating. Adam had a little baby on his lap and Ember gave a bark at Clarky, who was sleeping in his normal spot.
"Hey!" Rae said coming in from the kitchen. "Made all your favorites."
"Go get cleaned and washed for dinner," Cat stated to Carter and Dawn, who obeyed, moving off to their rooms. Carter told Ember to stay, as he didn't necessarily need the dog to help him see in his own home.
"Isn't today your day off?" Joel asked Rae once the kids had gone.
"Normally, but I needed to go to a place where no one would mention Barry for a while," Rae said.
"What's going on with your dead cousin?" Cat asked as she took a seat at the table and smiled at the little baby Adam was holding. They had given Rae some maternity leave when Leona was born, and Rae had brought the baby around once or twice since.
"An alternate him," Rae said. "His Earth was destroyed. He's been staying here."
"His Earth was destroyed? Does that kind of thing just happen?" Annie asked.
"This might be easier if you remember," Rae said, knowing the Grants could handle it as she nevertheless confused everyone in the room. "Red skies."
As the Paragon of Truth, she never lost her memories of Crisis but everyone else who had died during the event did; it had caused some confusion the day of when people didn't know how they ended up at certain places, or on different worlds, but it had been one of those things that had been overlooked fast. The only way for people to remember was a Paragon triggering their memories. The term 'red skies' seemed to do that well.
"The skies were red," Annie said. "And then the Justice League fixed them and then they were red again..."
"And there was this guy," Cat completed. "And… We… We all died!"
"Yes," Rae said. "Temporarily. We brought you back and almost all of the Earths in the multiverse as well. But some didn't make it back and if people from those worlds were off those worlds, they survived."
"Damn," Cat sighed now as Rae looked to her. "The greatest news story I could ever write, and no one will remember it. A Crisis…" she sighed.
"A Crisis of Infinite Earths," Annie added to her sister.
"Oh, I like that," Cat mused. "Just think of the possibilities…"
"No," Rae stated, causing both Grants to look at her. "Like you literally just said, no one will remember it. There's no point, it's done with now."
"But there are people no longer with a world," Cat stated, not arguing with Rae at her point.
"And there's a Barry who lost his world, living here," Annie guessed.
"Yeah. He wants to stay and makes some good points on why he should," Rae said, glad Cat had moved on from wanting to expose Crisis. "But most of my League, my wife, and even my aunt and uncle – his own parents – want him gone."
"So, tell him to go," Cat said and noticed the look. "Oh, you don't want him gone?"
"What makes you say that?" Rae asked.
"I have seen you make fun of a Speed God, threaten a League of highly trained assassins, and there was even another you at one point," Cat said. "If you wanted your cousin gone, you would tell him to leave. But you like having your cousin around. You had like four of them at your wedding. So, you're stuck in the middle of a cousin you want to stay and who wants to stay verses people you love who want him gone."
"You're very observant," Rae said.
"I'm Cat Grant," Cat pointed out simply. "But Rain, you have to choose. Either tell your wife, your aunt and uncle, and your League that Barry is here to stay and to get used to it or tell Barry to go."
"But I…" Rae started, not sure where her sentence was going to go.
"What are you going to do?" Annie interrupted.
"Erm… hope the next big villain who wants to destroy the Justice League, or the Earth, or the multiverse, pops up tomorrow so I can put this off for a while," Rae said heading back into the kitchen as Cat blinked, shocked at her answer.
"She has a good shot at that happening," Adam said and eyes turned to him. "What? Seems something pops up every once in a while, for her. Isn't that right Leona?" Adam looked down at the baby. "Your mommy takes on a lot."
"As long as we don't all get kidnapped again this time," Cat pointed out, getting up now. "Thank goodness Carter and Dawn weren't here to remember Crisis," she added, moving off to find her two youngest now.
-New Justice-
That night, Iris was in the kitchen as her mother cooked the family meal.
"Walter, maybe car racing is too dangerous," Joe was saying as Walter took a seat. He had been in an accident in his last car race and had broken his Tibia bone, as it was currently in a cast but could walk fine, albeit with a limp at the moment. "You're lucky you didn't end up more seriously injured."
"Dad, you weren't this insane when I was Minus," Walter sighed.
"Remember, you don't have powers without Julia and she's so far away if something were to happen to you we might not be able to get her here in time to stop permanent injury or even death," Joe countered; when Walter and his twin sister Julia held hands, they had a certain amount of healing powers, but they didn't know how far that would go. If it waited too long, Walter could be disabled or die. "Do you want to be in a wheelchair? No offense Iris." Iris merely mumbled, not paying that much attention.
"It's my life dad. I'll do what I want!" Walter snapped.
"I bumped into Rae today," Iris spoke up suddenly, stopping all conversation. "She was with a Barry – and her daughter. She's a mom now."
"Leona, she's three months old," Joe said, making eyes look at him. "I meet Henry for drinks every once in a while. He told me."
"That's nice," Francine said with a small smile. "We should send her a gift. They probably have a lot of Flash and Super onesies." Joe gave a laugh at that. "I could knit her a baby blanket. Would take some time though…."
"I'm sure she'd love it," Joe said. "Do it white and red though instead of pink. Supergirl and the Flash colors." On New Justice, Kara's primary colors were white, after all.
"Good idea, I'll get the materials and start it tomorrow," Francine said. "You know, I miss Nora. Maybe we should invite everyone over for dinner again, along with Rae and her wife with their daughter too."
"I like that idea," Joe said.
"Are you two serious?!" Walter snapped at his parents, causing both to look at him. "After what she did to Wally? Dad, I know you have been weak on holding her responsible but mom…"
"Walter, Rae saved the world," Francine said simply. "Wally made his choice. I was upset for a while and will always miss and love Wally, but I loved Rae too. She was like an extra daughter at one point. It's time to move on and be grateful for what I do have, which is three relatively healthy children and a loving husband," Joe was in the vicinity and moved to kiss his wife at this.
"So, you're really just ready to welcome her back here?" Iris asked, her voice emotionless.
"Holding onto anger is no good, Iris," Francine said, almost warningly now. "I'll call Nora tomorrow. See if we can set something up short notice for tomorrow evening."
"I like the idea," Joe said, and Walter and Iris knew better than to complain but they shared a look. They were not happy with this.
Post Chapter Note: Who liked this first chapter? Does New Justice actually have a permanent Barry in Random Barry? And what do you think the West have to do with Season 5?
