Feeling more confident than ever, Chibiusa and her Neo-Sailor Senshi started acting more and more like true princesses. However, Jewel and her Dark Kingdom Sailor Senshi are feeling more and more like babysitters to Beryl!
She had been unable-and unwilling-to re-fuse with Elizabeth, which the kitten seemed to prefer being in control of her own mind, and she got along better with Comet, Asteroid, and Diana when she is herself. On top of that, Beryl had started regaining her magic, getting more powerful the harder she tried, yet not at the level when she was a queen as Metalia was not around to soup her up. Still, this concerned everyone.
"I haven't done anything!" Jewel heard her mother arguing with someone as she walked towards the Crystal Palace with her half-sister, friends, and teammates.
Jewel and the Dark Kingdom Sailor Senshi went to the Crystal Palace after school for a study group. Disguised as a human, Jewel has her hair dyed black and purple contacts in her eyes, similar to her Sailor Universe form, in which her hair has started turning jet black and her eyes a bright purplish-blue to represent outer space.
"I'm not saying you did. I'm just saying we think developing your powers so quickly isn't safe around girls, who are younger and less experienced in protecting themselves if you misfire a spell or…something worse." Chibiusa recognized that voice as her own mother!
By "we," Neo-Queen Serenity meant her, King Endymion, and the original Sailor Senshi, who are with her. The girls rushed over in case a fight broke out.
"If that is your greatest concern, maybe you should have them fight me; it would, at least, be a nice use of my recently regained magic." Beryl snickered, knowing the girls could not hope to defeat her on their own and, if they could not, her magic could kill them.
"You may have fought alongside them in our war against the Skinwalkers, but I know very well, if they failed, you would have fled. Your selfish actions are why I can't trust you around them alone." Neo-Queen Serenity noticed the girls trot into view. "If I hear any complaints…." She warned.
Beryl just fixed Neo-Queen Serenity with a cold stare, then decided to turn her back on her and continue regaining more of her magic. Fighting, while not at full power, would not be worth it. So the cats dashed into the girl's arms, even Luna and Artemis, as they got much TLC.
Rewarding Jewel with love she should have given her long ago as the girl had gotten powerful, Beryl wrapped her arms around Jewel to welcome her and her Sailor Senshi team back. The Dark Kingdom Senshi did not like how Beryl only loved Jewel because she was becoming powerful, yet they did not utter a word about it.
"We should get to studying; we've got that math test tomorrow, which counts for 50% of our grade," Star spoke up, wanting to get Jewel out of her mother's embrace quickly as she did not like seeing this show of affection when it had conditions.
"You don't need to study, Star. You ace every test we take. It's like your Mrs. Mizuno or something!" Shadow exclaimed.
"Oh, I'm not as smart as her. I study really hard, that's all." Star blushed.
"Yeah, right. Mom, I better get going." Jewel sputtered, pulling out of the hug slightly.
"Before you go, Neo-Queen Serenity and I agreed it would be a wise decision if you girls learned to use your abilities to defend yourselves…and I'm going to test you." Beryl knew that was not exactly what had been said, but it was close to what would happen anyway.
"We have to defend ourselves against you?!" Gracie shrieked as Crystal trembled; there was no way they could hold up against the former Dark Kingdom queen!
"That doesn't sound fair," Ariel commented as Chibiusa, Holly, Trisha, and the Dark Kingdom Senshi (including Jewel) had to agree with her.
"Why do I feel like Neo-Queen Serenity would say, "Hell, no!" to this idea, which would mean you're lying?" Christen knew Neo-Queen Serenity would not let this happen unless there was some security around, yet she did not see any extra precautions, except maybe the cats.
"I don't mind," Alexis said, surprising everyone with her bravery.
"Alexis…?" Emily whispered.
"I think…it might be fun." Alexis smiled as she pulled out her Crystal Aqua Mirror from her backpack.
"Were you just carrying that around all day?!" "Shadow," asked incredulously.
"Well, Holly, Emily, and Trisha couldn't carry weapons like a staff, glaive, or sword into school, and though the Inner Senshi could more than handle a fight, I would like to help," Alexis explained.
"Maybe Alexis is the smart one." Dawn joked, drawing slight giggles from the other girls.
"Regardless if Alexis is right or not, we should, at least, give defending ourselves a try." Ivy put down her things, more than willing to get started.
It would be better to do this now, so the girls would not have to worry about studying and forget half the stuff they had to retain. As Neo-Sailor Venus took out her Holy Stone Sword as she felt she could use it better for defense, her cellphone rang! The caller ID showed Liz, the younger sister of Joey from school, but she was not calling from home as the location showed Crystal Park Woods.
"Sorry, everyone. I have to take this." Neo-Sailor Venus walked far away enough that her hearing would not be bothered by the battling and opened her phone. "Hello?"
"Hi, Gracie!" Liz's high voice replied.
"Hey, Liz. What's up?" Neo-Sailor Venus asked.
"Look, I'm sure you're busy being Neo-Sailor Venus and all, but we could really use a Sailor Senshi's help right now. Our uncle, John, has gone to look for more firewood as we're camping, but he's been gone for an hour, and we keep hearing strange noises around us. Can you protect us as we look for him?" Liz questioned.
"I'm on my way." Neo-Sailor Venus took off, glad she had her Holy Stone Sword ready as the blade could illuminate to act as a light source, thanks to a part of Sailor Venus's tiara jewel deep inside the blade.
It took a few minutes to find Joey and Liz as they were deeper in the woods than usual, but once you spotted the camp's firelight, it led right to them!
"Gracie!" Liz hugged Neo-Sailor Venus as Joey just smiled, gazing at the beautiful girl!
Joey and Liz's uncle, John, is a Martial Arts master and uses his skills to accomplish other activities like; surviving in the wilderness. Therefore, it is unheard of for him to be unable to take care of himself or those he loved, so him being gone for an hour looking for firewood did not make sense.
"Holy Stone Sword Light!" Holding her illuminated sword in front of them, Neo-Sailor Venus guarded Joey and Liz as they searched and called for John.
Walking until they reached the lake on the other end of the woods, Neo-Sailor Venus wished her other Sailor Senshi come with her to cover more ground as none of them had found any leads to where John had gone. As the three worried John might have fallen into the lake and, though the surface looked calm, there are vicious, actual, underwater tides, which will pull you under and drown you, they heard an awful sound like a soft, but wet…something…being ripped open!
Suddenly, someone…or something…lunged at them from out of the brush! Neo-Sailor Venus held up her sword just in time to halt five claws from slashing her face! Joey and Liz ran from the area, screaming! Gracie took a moment to glance at this creature: Humanoid, but taller with glowing eyes, yellow fangs, pale skin, and for how lean it is, it rivaled the strength of a Sailor Senshi!
Neo-Sailor Venus put up a good fight, but she could not seem to overpower the monster, and if she could not manage that, there was no defeating it! So, Neo-Sailor Venus fired one Heat Shock right at its face and booked it home! The young Senshi could only hope Joey and Liz made it home safe. What was that thing?! Where was John?
