.: Prologue :.
Once upon a time, there was a witch who fell in love. Her love was all-consuming, insatiable, and it devoured all it touched. She loved with a ferocity that could not be matched, and when her love was unleashed into the world, she rewrote the stars themselves.
She loved with a love that was more than love, and she paid the price for it.
Thrice reborn: this was her curse. To live, and live, and live again, losing and finding her Love, fighting to keep him by her side.
She died with her Lover's name on her tongue, and when she was born again, the first cry out of her mouth was for him—a plea split between lives and time and space.
As the babe grew into a child, she began to forget the things she'd lost in her past life. She grew and engaged in her world with a new spirit, but pieces of her soul never forgot. She was a child filled with immense longing, with a sense of being in the wrong place, or perhaps the wrong time. She didn't know why she would wake with tear-stained cheeks, or why she sometimes remembered things that had never happened to her. She didn't have a name for the yearning in her heart.
She didn't even know there was an elsewhere for her, beckoning her home.
It called to her across time and space. I'm waiting. I'm waiting. Come find me, Little One; I'm waiting.
