A/N: It's been a while since I wrote anything and I'm glad to get back into things. Over the past several months I've gotten very into anime and manga and I've decided to write a crossover between two of my favourites, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Kill La Kill. For a bit of clarification, the basic idea behind this story is essentially "What if Kill La Kill took place in the Jojo universe?". So stuff from the KLK universe like Life Fibres don't exist and the main powers are Stands. As a result, Senketsu has been renamed for this story to fit in with Jojo's musical naming conventions but just know he's the same character. Also the first point of divergence in this story is when Ryuko first encounters Fukuroda (the boxer from episode 1) so that's where the story starts. Just assume most of the stuff that happened to Ryuko was more or less what happened in canon. Also I've decided to publish the first two chapters at once since in my opinion this first chapter is a bit short and less happens than I'd like. But that won't be a pattern, the rest will be released one at a time. Anyway that's enough of this lengthy introduction, on to the story.
Honnou Town, Japan, 2013
Ryuko Matoi stared down Honnouji's student council president Satsuki Kiryuin with great intensity. She had only been at Honnouji Academy for half a day but already she decided it was her time to confront the only lead she had about her father's death. Her brand new friend Mako Mankanshoku tried to pull Ryuko back into the crowd of obedient students but Ryuko successfully waved her off.
"Satsuki Kiryuin!" Ryuko pointed an accusatory finger at Satsuki, flanked by her loyal entourage of Elite Four students. "My father was killed several months ago! And before he died he told me that someone connected to your family is behind it. As far as I'm concerned, you and your cronies are all guilty until proven innocent. Especially you!"
"How dare this girl accuse Lady Satsuki!" One student spoke up. Him and a small group of students in One-Star Uniforms tried to surround and dogpile Ryuko but she was able to fight her way out easily. This wasn't the first scrap she'd been in.
Satsuki's expression changed ever so slightly, somewhat impressed at the girl's fighting abilities. "You're the new transfer student, aren't you? Matoi, was it?"
"That's me." Ryuko took a few steps closer. "Now, Satsuki Kiryuin, I want some answers and I want 'em now! Did you kill my father?"
"I don't have time for trivial concerns like yours." Satsuki turned around with a click of her heels. "Someone remove her from the premises."
"Hey! I'm talking to you!" Ryuko charged ahead at Satsuki. She had no idea what her plan was. She was massively outnumbered and had no weapons on her. But the fury inside her was burning too hot to even think about those matters.
It all ended up not mattering anyway. Before she could get anywhere close to Satsuki she felt something collide with her stomach like an enormous fist hitting her. But the strange part was that nothing was there. It was like some sort of invisible monster had hurt her. The force sent Ryuko flying back in the air where she crash landed next to Mako.
"Ah! Ryuko!" Mako gasped.
Approaching Ryuko on the ground was a teenage boy in boxing gear, apparently the man who had injured her.
"Fukuroda." Satsuki nodded at the boy in acknowledgment.
"Yes, it is I,Takaharu Fukuroda!" the boxer announced. "Captain of the boxing club!"
Ryuko groaned as she stood up. "You think you can hide behind people like this!" She pointed up at Satsuki.
Satsuki said nothing and simply watched the scene.
"Do not talk to Lady Satsuki like that." Fukuroda said. "I'm gonna have to beat some manners into you!"
"I'd like to see you try!" Ryuko got back to her feet and ran at him and tried to throw a punch but he was quick to throw up his hands in defense. Despite this Ryuko still saw herself in an advantageous position since Fukuroda was using both hands to block her; it left him vulnerable to an attack from another point.
But just as Ryuko prepared to knee him in the gut she was abruptly struck on the side of the head by what felt like a fist. She wasn't quite sure what it was since both of Fukuroda's hands were still blocking and there was nobody standing beside her.
Whatever it was, Ryuko was knocked off balance but she managed to catch herself. "What the hell was that!? What hit me?"
"I won't bother explaining it to someone like you. If you aren't able to understand it on your own then you're unworthy to wield power like Lady Satsuki and the Elite Four do." Fukuroda said. "In the name of sportsmanship I'll play fair. Right now I'll let you leave. If you go home right now like a good girl I won't hurt you anymore."
"No way." Ryuko shook her head. "I came here for answers and I'm gonna get 'em!" Still not shaken, she ran towards Fukuroda in preparation to hit him again.
"Such sloppy form. You're a disgrace to boxers everywhere." Fukuroda said.
"Shut the hell u-" Ryuko was cut off when she felt more invisible fists pummeling her. They hit her from all angles. In front of her, from behind, to the side. Fukuroda just stood there with a pleased look on his face.
"Don't you see? I am a two-star student." Fukuroda smirked. "Only Lady Satsuki and her Elites outrank me. You're just an inferior worm beneath my feet!"
Ryuko could barely focus on his words as the flurry of blows hit her. After what felt like several minutes to Ryuko, but likely was shorter, the fists stopped and Ryuko was sent flying back.
Satsuki nodded and looked to Fukuroda. "Take her to Gamagoori. His disciplinary committee shall decide her fate."
"I still have some energy left in me…" Ryuko's whole body trembled as she pulled herself up from the ground. "And I know just what to do!" She quickly turned around and ran away out the front gates of Honnouji Academy. As she ran off, Mako turned around to wave to her.
"Bye Ryuko! See you tomorrow!"
Ryuko limped her way back home down the hills of Honnou Town. Thanks to her injured state and the labyrinthine design of the city it took her over an hour to get home. When she finally got there she stumbled into the burnt out remains of her house. The house she'd known since she was a little girl was nothing but a husk of its former self.
By now it had begun to rain, only working to further sour Ryuko's mood. She wandered to what used to be the living room of her house and collapsed in the middle of it. "I'm so sorry dad… I tried but they were too strong… I didn't even get close to Satsuki." She tried holding back her tears but failed, letting them freely run down her face. "How am I supposed to avenge you if I'm so weak?"
She was distracted from her thoughts when she felt a shifting beneath her. Looking down, Ryuko saw that the ground beneath her had sunken slightly. "What the…"
The ground opened up into a trap door and Ryuko fell down a long shaft. She screamed in shock as she fell and fell, desperately feeling around for anything to grab onto. Her efforts to stop herself came to no avail when she fell to the bottom of the shaft and came out in what appeared to be some sort of sub-basement.
Ryuko's fall was cushioned by a large pile of clothes at the bottom. "Ah!" Unfortunately something hard and sharp was concealed within them. "Dammit… That hurt…" She got to her feet and looked down at her injured arm. "What the hell is in there?"
She turned around, still clutching her arm and shifted the clothes out of the way. There, underneath the clothes, was a shining gold colored arrow dripping with Ryuko's blood.
"What is this thing anyway?" Ryuko reached down to grab the arrow with her non-injured arm. "And how come I never knew about this room before?"
"Feed me."
Ryuko froze up. She had just heard an unfamiliar man's voice echoing around somewhere. "Wh- Who said that…"
"Your blood, it gives me sustenance."
"H- Hey! Go away! Stop saying creepy crap like that!" Ryuko looked around in a panic.
"Ryuko, I'm your uniform."
Ryuko was doing her best to remain calm and collected but hearing this strange voice was beginning to seriously freak her out. Not sure what else to do, she turned around and began to run away.
Suddenly there was a flash of white light all around Ryuko and when her vision came back to her she felt very different. The first change she noticed was that her mid-section felt a lot colder all of a sudden.
Across the room from her was a cracked mirror and she could see herself wearing a totally different outfit from before. Instead of her normal clothes she was wearing some sort of black and red armour that for some reason only seemed to be protecting her arms, shoulders, legs and groin. For some reason a large portion of her stomach, chest and back were exposed. Her breasts were barely covered by the outfit.
"What the hell!? What am I wearing? When did I put this on?! Why do I look like a stripper?"
"Focus."
It was then that Ryuko noticed that it looked like her outfit had an eye on it and it was looking right at her. "What the hell are you!? Are you talking?"
"Yes, I am. I'm your uniform."
"Okay… Do you have a name?"
"No…"
"Well, I'm gonna call you Depeche Mode. Seems like a good name for a talking suit of armour. So… Talking armour, do you have any powers? Y'know, like the superheroes on TV."
"Yes, I do."
"Great, in that case I'm going back to Honnouji Academy with you."
Mako Mankanshoku was very worried about missing her dinner. Her mother was making her signature croquettes again but instead of going home she was being kept after school as the boxing club's hostage. That would be bad enough but to make matters worse, club captain Fukuroda had decided to hang her upside down.
Not only was Mako getting incredibly dizzy from all the blood rushing to her head but she was wearing her boring underwear today instead of her sexy panties. All in all, Mako just hoped that they'd decide to let her go home before her brother ate all her croquettes.
"Are you sure she'll come back?" Fukuroda looked over to Sanageyama, Honnouji's athletic council chair.
"Trust me, she'll be back." Sanageyama said. "We've had to deal with these hero types at Honnouji before. She'll be here. Especially since we kidnapped her friend here."
"Can you please turn me the other way upside down?" Mako called over from the tall piece of metal she was tied to. "My head feels funny…"
"Quiet!" Fukuroda pointed a boxing glove over at her. "Once I finish beating your punk friend to a pulp I'll let you down! Until then, shut up!"
"Okay!" Mako nodded.
A small group of students had gathered around Fukuroda's makeshift boxing ring to see what would happen. The other spectators of note included Lady Satsuki and the rest of the Elite Four, watching from the safety of Honnouji Academy's rooftop.
"Remember Fukuroda, be ready for anything." Sanageyama said. "Even if she can't see it, she might be smarter than she looks."
Fukuroda stood still, hands raised at the ready in his well-practiced boxing stance. After some waiting he heard a familiar voice call out to him. "Hey, boxer! I'm ready for round two!"
Ryuko climbed into the ring wearing her all new, and severely revealing, armour. "C'mon! Bring it on!"
"Is that a new outfit?" Fukuroda looked her over. "What happened? Did I beat you up so bad last time you pissed yourself?"
"Ugh, don't be gross!" Ryuko took a few steps closer to him. "But I am wearing these clothes for a reason. I'm gonna use 'em to kick your ass!"
"Please, don't make me laugh." Fukuroda smirked. "Look at how you're dressed. Are you getting off on showing off you tits and ass?"
"H- Hey! I didn't design this thing! It came out like this!" Ryuko did her best to look serious in spite of the blush on her face. She pushed down her ridiculously short skirt and tried to discreetly adjust her underwear so it wouldn't ride up on her so much.
"Whatever, slut." Fukuroda chuckled. "Just fight me with your stupid stripper-gear."
"Alright then, let's go!"
Ryuko stepped closer and looked down at Depeche Mode's eye. "Okay Depeche Mode, let's do this!"
"Wait, I get it now, your armour isn't just some cheap costume…" Fukuroda took a few steps forward. " I'll show you mine…" It was then that something around Fukuroda changed. A huge humanoid shape emerged from behind him. The thing had a vaguely metallic sheen to it and had red and grey colouring on its body. Just like Fukuroda himself, the thing behind him seemed to be wearing boxing gloves.
"What- What the hell is that thing!" Ryuko took a step back in shock.
"Oh so you can see him now? Heh, good to know…" Fukuroda smirked. "This little guy is kind of like my partner in the ring. I call him… Street Fighting Man! With him, I will become the world's greatest boxer!"
"Okay, so you have some sort of steroid-pumped ghost. I can still beat you." Ryuko tried to get over the fact that what she thought was a normal teenage boy had some sort of giant ghost behind him and got back to the fight. "Let's rumble!" She charged ahead at Fukuroda.
Fukuroda reeled back his arm, an action which Street Fighting Man copied. Several glowing red boxing gloves appeared floating in midair all around Street Fighting Man's arms. The gloves were launched ahead at Ryuko.
"Whoa!" Ryuko instinctively jumped to the side and did a roll out of the way of the gloves. The gloves created huge dents in the ground and disappeared upon impact. "Wow, I've never had reflexes like that before…" She looked at the dents in the ground and then over to Street Fighting Man. "So that's how he was hitting me before? His weird ghost was the one doing all the punching."
"Hey, don't put it like that!" Fukuroda pointed, or as best he could in boxing gloves, at Ryuko. "That makes it sound like he's doing all the work. For someone to wield this kind of power they need to be strong themselves. Without inner strength they would be destroyed from the inside by the very power they seek to wield."
"Oh you shut up!" Ryuko looked down at herself again. "Hey, Depeche, any advice on how to take this guy down?"
"Yes. You need to let me stab you and drink your blood."
"What!?" Ryuko exclaimed. "What are you, some kinda vampire?"
"In order for me to help you I need your blood to operate."
"Alright… I'll trust you on this." Ryuko nodded. "Let's show Fukuroda here what we can do!" She felt a sudden pain in her right arm. A needle inside of her suit had stabbed itself into her arm on her wrist. "Ahh! What the hell?!"
"I told you I needed to stab you to get your blood. Now you can use your weapons."
Ryuko felt another strange sensation in her arm but this one was not painful for some reason. It was more like an otherworldly feeling than one of pain. A slit in her suit opened up around where the needle stabbed her and a big red blade stuck out. "Was… Was that thing inside my arm?"
"Wherever I stab you, I can create blades. That's why I leave so much of you exposed, to make sure I don't take anything from your vital organs. These puncture wounds won't hurt you but you can use them in combat."
"Freaky… But useful." Ryuko smirked and looked at Fukuroda. "Let's go! And get my other wrist too!"
"If you're sure."
Ryuko felt another strange feeling in her other wrist but it soon went away when the blade came out of her opposite wrist. "Here we go!"
"Just 'cause you've got some fancy suit with knives doesn't mean you're stronger than me! I, Takaharu Fukuroda, am a real man! And a real man uses his fists!" Fukuroda ranted. "Street Fighting Man! Attack!"
Street Fighting Man moved forward and more glowing boxing gloves materialized around it. The gloves were sent forwards at Ryuko. There were many more than the first time but Ryuko was more prepared. She was able to jump out of the way of most of them and thanks to her armour the ones that hit her barely hurt. With the help of her blades she was even able to block a few of the gloves before they hit her.
More new gloves were beginning to materialize but Ryuko jumped up at Street Fighting Man and struck at him. She hit his shoulder with her right hand with her blade stabbing into him. Suddenly, Fukuroda reeled back in pain with his hand on his shoulder.
"You bitch!" Fukuroda staggered back but remained on his feet. Looking over at him, Ryuko saw blood oozing through his jacket
"Hey, I didn't do that! I didn't even touch you." Ryuko said.
"I told you, me and Street Fighting Man are connected." Fukuroda said. "Any damage he takes, I take…"
"Look, boxer boy, I don't wanna hurt you too bad. But as long as you're keeping Mako hostage I am gonna beat you up." Ryuko crossed her arms.
"I'm not afraid of you! I'm the captain of the boxing glove, you will fall to me!" Fukuroda stared her down. "Street Fighting Man, let's give her a two-way beatdown!"
Fukuroda charged right ahead at Ryuko and laid down a hurricane of punches against her. Street Fighter Man got behind Ryuko and copied his master, conjuring up more energy gloves to join in the efforts. She'd taken a defensive stance, her arms crossed in front of her to shield her.
Unlike the first time they fought, Ryuko didn't feel the impact of the hits as much. "Now you're just pissing me off!" She changed her stance and attacked in both directions. With her left hand she slashed at Street Fighting Man, her blade dragging across the chest. She used her elbow to hit Fukuroda in the face, knocking him back and causing blood to drip from his nose. The slash across Street Fighting Man's chest was replicated on Fukuroda's as well.
Street Fighting Man lay limp on the ground as did his master. Ryuko approached Fukuroda and put her foot atop his chest to keep him down. "So, who's the inferior worm now?" She smirked at him.
"Dammit…" Fukuroda groaned. "Street Fighting Man… Get… Her…"
"Oh shut up!" Ryuko looked back behind her at Street Fighting Man's shambling form. The blade on her right arm shot at Street Fighting Man, piercing its leg and making it fall down. Just like before a matching imagery appeared on Fukuroda
"Gah! Bitch…" Fukuroda muttered.
"Get up." Ryuko glared at him and grabbed him by the wrist, pulling him up to his feet. "Now, you go up to Lady Satsuki and tell her that I wanna talk to her!" Before Fukuroda had any chance to say anything, Ryuko punched him in the face several times with her gauntlet clad fists.
Fukuroda was hit so hard that he went flying out of the ring and all the way up to where Satsuki was standing. The largest man on her Elite Four, Ira Gamagoori, stood in the way and blocked Fukuroda from hitting her. Fukuroda slid off of Gamagoori's body where he lay twitching in pain on the ground.
Satsuki stepped over Fukuroda and looked down at Ryuko, who was currently trying to untie Mako. "You! Your name is Ryuko Matoi, correct? You're the daughter of Isshin Matoi…"
Ryuko flinched a little, hearing her father's name. "You… You know his name? What the hell do you know about him!" She looked up at Satsuki with a look of anger on her face.
"That is of no concern to you. I don't have time for your petty vendettas."
"My father is dead! And I'm not gonna give up until I find out who did it!"
"So be it." Satsuki said.
"H- Hey! I'm not done with you!" Ryuko yelled. "Fight me right now! Fi- Fight…" Out of nowhere Ryuko felt terribly tired. "What the hell…" She fell to her knees.
"Ryuko, have you eaten today?" She heard Depeche Mode's voice echoing in her head.
"Uh, no…"
"I think I took too much of your blood too."
"Dammit…" Ryuko sighed. She glanced back to Satsuki. "I'll be back, Satsuki Kiryuin!" She leaped out of the boxing ring and rushed away as quickly as she could, out of the school grounds.
Hours had passed since Ryuko's altercation with Fukuroda and most of Honnou Town was quiet. Within a certain apartment, mild mannered history teacher Aikuro Mikisugi had been pacing around for hours. He'd encountered Ryuko on her first day at Honnouji Academy but he had yet to make an impression on her.
She however, had made quite the impression on him. For quite some time now, Aikuro had been on the phone trying to contact a certain man via telephone.
In the privacy of his own home, Aikuro had taken off his unassuming teacher disguise. His shaggy hair was now combed and his thick, nearly opaque, glasses had been removed. He'd also decided to strip completely naked while at home. It was something he always did, a nightly ritual of sorts.
The phone eventually was picked up on the other end. "Finally, I'd been waiting forever."
"Who the hell is this?"
"Aikuro Mikisugi, Speedwagon Foundation. I'm reporting in like you told me to, Dr. Kujo."
There was a slight silence on the other end for a moment. "I see… Have you found anything?"
"A lot, actually. Satsuki Kiryuin and her so-called Elite Four students are all definitely Stand users like you and me. A few select other students have these abilities as well."
"So, it's just as we suspected."
"That's right. I'm calling about a particular development though." Aikuro peered out the window of his shabby apartment. "There's a new student who came in today. Her name was Ryuko Matoi, daughter of Isshin Matoi."
"Isshin's daughter? What's her role in all of this?"
"She's investigating his death, just like you've got me doing. She seems to have something against Satsuki specifically, she could be an ally to us. She also has a Stand."
"I'm getting a bad feeling about this, Mikisugi."
"Would you like me to take any action yet, Dr. Kujo?"
"You try talking to her. I'm going to send someone out there to help you."
"Why can't you come yourself?"
"I'm doing marine research in the Caribbean right now."
"So who do you plan on sending?"
"There's a small town called Morioh. It's not too far from Honnou Town. I know a man there who can help us."
