My Friend Rachel
Chapter 1
" Gentlemen, things just officially got fun tonight!", Howard said in a horny voice with a stupid smirk on his face as he entered a local nightclub with Raj, Leonard and Sheldon after he dragged them out there for a stupid Anything Can Happen Thursday night of fun. Loud music thumped off the walls and there were men and women everywhere talking, laughing, having drinks and dancing.
" You said it dude! This place is like girl shopping central!", Raj exclaimed with a stupid smirk on his face.
" Well you can go shopping for girls Raj, I'm off the market because I have Penny. I'm just going to sit at the bar and have a beer.", Leonard said as he walked over to the bar and sat down at one of the stools, ordering himself a beer as he pushed his glasses up on his face.
" Sounds good to me Leonard! What are you going to do Howard?!", Raj asked.
" Well I'm kind of hoping that the Wolowitz charm will reel in a few stray cats that want a piece of this!", Howard said in a horny voice as he started slowly grinding his butt around out in the open.
" Dude would you stop doing that! You have a wife for God's sake!", Leonard hissed as he smacked his friend in the shoulder making him stop his behavior.
" Oh grow up Leonard!", Howard hissed but then he turned to Sheldon and asked, " So what are you going to do Sheldon?"
" I for one am going to leave thank you very much!", Sheldon interjected as he spun on his heel and started to walk away from his friends.
" Sheldon why do you want to leave already?! We just got here! Howard dragged all of us out here tonight so we can have fun together, it's Anything Can Happen Thursday!", Leonard interjected causing Sheldon to stop walking and turn back around.
" Yes well the 3 of you can have your fun Leonard Hofstadter! I for one do not wish to be in an obnoxious madhouse surrounded by several inebriated pedestrians who are acting like a bunch of wild animals! I'm a respected theoretical physicist and this is not something I wish to be involved in at the moment!", Sheldon interjected.
" Oh come on Sheldon Cooper, you haven't even been anywhere at all recently since you and Amy broke up 3 months ago! Can't you just live a little and let the sparks fly!", Howard said in a stupid voice.
" No I can not and I do not wish to discuss this at the moment! So have a good evening gentlemen, I'm out of here!", Sheldon interjected as he turned back around on his heel and began walking away again from his friends through a sea of people.
" Ok suit yourself buddy! See you later!", Howard called out before he leaned against the bar and tried to pick up some random woman using a cheezy line to which she immediately called him a pervert and threw her drink at him in his face before she walked away with her friend that was with her.
" Good Lord who does Wolowitz think he is, a horny player?! This is ridiculous! Ahhh!", Sheldon hissed under his breath before he suddenly shrieked in surprise when he bumped into a beautiful 32 year old caucasian woman with long dark brown hair and orange highlights up in two ponytails and was wearing shades over her blue eyes. She had on a cream colored undershirt underneath a black cardigan sweater and was wearing dark blue skinny jeans and black heels on her feet. As the two stood there staring at each other the woman lowered her shades a few times before she said with a smile, " Oh my god, I know you! Sheldon Cooper?!" The song playing throughout the nightclub was Again by Lenny Kravitz.
" Yes… Wait a second… Rachel Wayneburg?!", Sheldon asked in shock when he realized that he was staring at his old childhood friend.
" Yes it's me! Hi!", Rachel exclaimed.
" Oh good Lord, what are you doing here?!", Sheldon exclaimed with an amusing smile.
" I just came out here for a night of fun to get away from my crazy psycho boyfriend Kenneth ShermanOak! What about you?! What are you doing here?!", Rachel said.
" Oh my friends unfortunately dragged me out here for a night of ridiculous pending nuptials that I do not wish to be involved in. I was actually just leaving but I suppose since you're here why don't we just catch up a bit.", Sheldon said.
" Yeah I would love that! I haven't seen you in like forever! So what have you been doing with yourself recently?!", Rachel asked.
" Well, I've been pretty busy with my theoretical physics research to which unfortunately resulted in the termination of my relationship with my girlfriend Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler 3 months ago. I haven't really been anywhere that much since then.", Sheldon said.
" You're a theoretical physicist?! That's awesome and I'm so sorry that things didn't work out with your girlfriend.", Rachel said.
" Oh that's alright Rachel, I'm fine.", Sheldon said.
" Well good. So what kind of research are you doing?", Rachel asked.
" I've mostly been focusing on String Theory for most of my life since you and I have parted ways after high school and it's now come to the point where I'm beginning to have a dilemma with myself on whether or not I should continue with String Theory or switch to Dark Matter. They're both really remarkable areas of study, I just can't seem to decide at the moment.", Sheldon said.
" Well, I'm sure whatever you choose Sheldon it's going to be great and that I'm sure it will have a really great impact on the science community someday.", Rachel said.
" Well thank you! I actually hope to achieve my goal of receiving a Nobel Prize for my contributions someday!", Sheldon exclaimed.
" Well that's nice! I hope you achieve it!", Rachel exclaimed.
" Thank you! So anyway, what are you doing now?!", Sheldon asked.
" Oh I'm a registered nurse working at The Centers for Disease Control!", Rachel said.
" You're a CDC nurse?!", Sheldon exclaimed in shock as he stared at his friend.
" Yes I am! I just graduated last year from nursing school at the top of my class and I've been working at the CDC for about 4 months now!", Rachel said as she nodded her head.
" That's wonderful! Good for you!", Sheldon exclaimed.
" Thank you!", Rachel exclaimed. As the two of them stood there continuing to talk to each other Howard, Leonard and Raj walked up when they noticed that Sheldon was still in the club talking to a woman that they've never seen before.
" You're still here Sheldon?! We thought you left already.", Howard asked in shock.
" Well I was going to leave but then I bumped into an old childhood friend of mine. Leonard, Howard, Raj, this is my friend Rachel Wayneburg. She's a registered nurse working at The Centers for Disease Control. Rachel these are my friends Dr. Leonard Hofstadter, Astronaut Howard Wolowitz and Dr. Rajesh Koothrappali.", Sheldon said as he introduced everyone to each other.
" Hi, it's nice to meet you!", Rachel exclaimed as she waved her handed with a smile.
" You too!", Howard, Leonard and even Raj said with smiles on their faces too.
" You never told us you had a friend before you met us Sheldon.", Leonard said.
" Yes well unfortunately Rachel and I have lost touch with each other after we graduated from high school and we haven't made much of an effort to track each other down. We both got kind of busy with other things in life.", Sheldon said.
" Yeah it's kind of true, we did get kind of busy and almost forgot about each other. But now that were standing here talking it's like we haven't even lost touch at all.", Rachel said.
" Indeed.", Sheldon said as he nodded his head.
" Well wait a second, how did you guys meet each other in the first place?", Howard asked.
" We met in first grade at recess after I got hit in the head with someone's football by accident and we've been friends ever since. We actually became best friends in high school doing absolutely everything together and one time during passing time there was this girl named Tammy Fullerson who was messing with us and so I had one of these firework Pop-its in my backpack that I stole from my dad's shed. I kind of went to throw it at this girl's face as a joke but thankfully it actually didn't hit this girl's face and landed somewhere near her foot on the floor which made a loud pop sound, giving her a little bit of a burn on the top of her foot making her scream, " Ow! Damn it Rachel, I'm gonna pound you and Sheldon for that!" and so Sheldon and I started laughing our butts off because we thought it was so funny but unfortunately we got in trouble for that by another teacher which really wasn't that bad, maybe just a few hours of detention at the latest.", Rachel said.
" Holy crap!", Raj exclaimed in shock as he stood there with an alcoholic drink in his hand.
" I know right?! I swear to God it was the funniest thing ever! We seriously had a great time together!", Rachel laughed.
" Indeed we did.", Sheldon said as he nodded his head again.
" What did your dad say about you stealing the firework Pop-it from his shed?", Leonard asked.
" He blew up at me. He yelled at me for several minutes but then he got over it.", Rachel said.
" Oh nice.", Leonard said. The five of them stood there for the next several minutes talking to each other until Rachel said, " Well it was nice talking to all of you but I think it's time for me to go home now. It's getting late."
" Yeah I think we should head out too because most of us are pretty hammered right now.", Howard said as he pointed at himself, Leonard and Raj.
" Yeah I kind of noticed. Oh and before I forget, here's my number in case if the 4 of you want to talk to me.", Rachel said as she took her phone out and showed the 4 nerds her phone number. They all took their phones out and put her number in and they each gave her their numbers as well before they all put their phones away.
" Thank you Rachel. We shall see you around soon.", Sheldon said with a smile.
" Yes you definitely shall Sheldon. Have a good night you guys, bye!", Rachel said with a smile and waved goodbye as she was leaving the club.
" Bye!", Sheldon, Leonard, Howard and Raj said as they waved back before they left as well. Rachel then drove home and when she walked into her house she saw her boyfriend leaning against her kitchen island looking at his phone in one hand while impatiently tapping his fingers on the countertop with his other hand. Seeing him there uninvited doing that made her get angry.
" Are you freaking kidding me?! What the fuck are you doing here in my house uninvited at this time of night Ken?! Get out!", Rachel angrily said as she slammed her purse and keys down on the table.
" Excuse me?! I came over here to find out where the hell you've been Rachel! You haven't answered me all freakin' night! I've been trying to call and text you for several hours!", Ken angrily said as he looked up from his phone at his girlfriend.
" That's because I was at a nightclub you ditz! I couldn't hear you and another thing, why do I have to keep checking in with you?! I'm not your property!", Rachel angrily asked.
" Yes you are! You're my girlfriend and I'd like to know where you're at! What the hell were you doing at a nightclub tonight anyway?! Shacking up with another dude?!", Ken angrily demanded as he slammed his fist down on the counter.
" No! I was just having a good time talking to an old childhood friend of mine that I ran into while I was there! Geez O' Petes!", Rachel shouted.
" Ok I want to know who the j*ck this person is that you're talking about! Is it another dude?!", Ken shouted.
" His name is Dr. Sheldon Cooper and that's none of your business! You know what, I'm going to bed now! Get the f*ck out Ken! I'm done with this shit!", Rachel shouted as she stormed to her bedroom and slammed the door.
" Oh no you're not doing that to me woman! Get back out here, we're not done talking about this!", Ken shouted as he stormed after her and pounded his fist on her bedroom door.
" Yes we are Kenneth Dillard ShermanOak! Now get out of my house before I call the police!", Rachel shouted through the door at her psycho boyfriend.
" Fine have it your way Rachel Sandy Wayneburg, I'm out of here! Stupid cunt!", Ken shouted as he stormed out of his girlfriend's house, slamming the door behind him. Rachel then angrily punched her fist into her door before she got ready for bed. As she fell asleep she hissed in her mind, ' Ugh, Ken ShermanOak is such an arrogant, controlling jerkhole! He makes me so mad sometimes that I just want to strangle him! What the hell are you doing with this guy in the first place Rachel Wayneburg?! He needs to seriously go away and never come back!' Rachel's anger continued to swarm through her head as she continued sleeping. She was very annoyed and angry that her boyfriend did that to her with no rhyme or reason. Meanwhile the 4 geeks arrived back at 4A talking about Rachel.
" Ok you guys that woman was so nice!", Howard exclaimed as he threw himself on the couch.
" Yeah I agree Howard! She was really friendly and her name is very pretty too!", Raj exclaimed as he sat next to him while Sheldon sat in his spot.
" Yeah and I'm just surprised that Rachel and Sheldon have actually grown up together! He never told us any of this before!", Leonard exclaimed as he sat in his chair.
" Yes well it's not really that big of a deal Leonard. She's just a really good friend that I've known for a long time who I haven't seen for several years since we graduated. It was really actually enjoyable to see her again after so long and catch up with her.", Sheldon said.
" You know what I think buddy, I think you like her!", Leonard said with a stupid smirk as he stared at his roommate/best friend.
" Excuse me but what in the name of Sir Issac Newton's Law makes you think that I like her Dr. Leonard Hofstadter?! She's just my best friend from high school and another thing, she has a boyfriend!", Sheldon shot back as he rolled his eyes.
" Don't fall for it Leonard, he totally likes her! I could see it in his face by the way he was staring at her tonight!", Howard said with a stupid smirk.
" Yeah I could see it too! I think he really does like Rachel!", Raj said with a stupid smirk too.
" Excuse me gentlemen but what did I just say?! I do not like her in that way! Look there's nothing going on between Rachel and I! We're nothing more than just best friends from childhood!", Sheldon defended in denial as he shot up from his spot on the couch.
" Yeah yeah sure sure, you dawg! You like her and you know it Sheldon!", Leonard spat out with that same stupid smirk on his face.
" Yeah how can you not?! She's a hot, sexy chick!", Howard stupidly said.
" Ok you know what the 3 of you can talk all the slap happy shit you want about this, I'm going to bed now! Good night!", Sheldon hissed as he stormed to his room leaving his 3 friends in the living room as they started laughing it up with each other.
SLAM!
" Yeah that's definitely the face of someone who's in denial of their feelings! Sheldon totally likes Rachel!", Raj laughed.
" Of course he does Raj, he just doesn't want to admit it!", Howard laughed as Leonard was pounding his fist into his leg howling with laughter as well.
' Good Lord what is with my friends acting like immature idiots and jumping to conclusions about my assumed feelings for my high school best friend Rachel Sandy Wayneburg?! There's nothing going on between us, we're just really good friends! Unless, maybe in some way they're right. Oh please what in the hell am I even saying?! Rachel is just my friend and she has a boyfriend for God's sake! There's no way that she would ever like me that way, there can't be! I don't even think I look like her type!', Sheldon thought in his mind, having an inner conflict with himself as he slept. He wanted to deny that he was having feelings for the girl that he grew up with but at the same time he couldn't ignore them even though they had just reunited that evening after they haven't seen each other in several years. Her features were believe it or not very pleasing and he could totally see why she would be a catch to any man that walked in her path. Leonard, Howard and Raj continued talking out in the living room with each other for a few more minutes before Howard and Raj left for the night and Leonard headed to bed as well. The next day after Rachel woke up she got dressed for work and drove herself to the CDC to begin her shift. As she was treating a middle-aged male patient that had come in for a severe cough she was suddenly interrupted by her boyfriend Ken. Apparently he was still mad about what happened last night and decided to come back to continue the argument.
" Rachel!", Ken shouted at his girlfriend as he ripped back the privacy curtain when he came storming into the facility.
" My god what do you want now Ken?! I'm working and you're not supposed to be back here!", Rachel shouted as she clenched her fists at her sides in anger as she stared at her boyfriend. She was really not in the mood for another argument but apparently Ken didn't care.
" Excuse me but we're not done talking about what happened last night! You need to tell me about who the hell this Sheldon guy is you were talking to! I want to know who this dude is and what is so special about him!", Ken shouted as he angrily threw a finger at her.
" I just told you last night, he's just a childhood friend of mine! I'm not cheating on you! Why are you so insecure about our relationship and keep jumping to conclusions about every freaking person I talk to?! You're really being a gargantuan jerk right now! Please get out and go home, you're stressing out my patient who has a severe cough right now!", Rachel shouted as she pointed at her patient that was laying in the bed coughing up a storm.
" I don't give a flying fladoodle about what you're doing right now Rachel Wayneburg! We're gonna talk about your little boyfriend Sheldon Cooper because apparently you care more about him than me!", Ken shouted.
" He's just my friend, not my boyfriend! Seriously what is your problem?! I don't want to be having this discussion at the moment and if you don't get out of here and leave me alone I will call security and have them remove you from this facility in handcuffs!", Rachel shouted.
" Oh what's that supposed to mean you stupid cunt?!", Ken shouted as he rolled his eyes at his girlfriend.
" Ken ShermanOak shut your mouth and get out! You're going to get me fired! YOU'RE CAUSING A SCENE!", Rachel shouted as several doctors and nurses began to congregate around the room to see what was going on between the two lovers.
" I ain't doing shit!", Ken shouted.
" SECURITY!", Rachel shouted out loud which immediately summoned the CDC security guards.
" Yes Nurse Wayneburg, what is it?", one of the guards asked.
" My boyfriend Ken ShermanOak is distracting me from doing my job! Can you please slap him with handcuffs and remove him from this facility now!", Rachel hissed.
" Yes of course, let's go sir! You need to get out!", the guard demanded as he approached Ken while taking out a set of police-issued handcuffs.
" I ain't moving! I'm parking my tush right here! Back off jack!", Ken shouted as he parked his butt on the swivel stool, crossing his arms in front of him.
" Excuse me but that is very rude and I don't appreciate it Mr. ShermanOak! You need to leave now! Your girlfriend has asked you to leave and you need to comply! So let's go!", the guard demanded as he stood Ken up on his feet and started grabbing at his wrists to restrain him behind his back with the handcuffs.
" I'm gonna pimp slap you in the face if you don't let go of me and leave me alone! Get your dirty hands off me!", Ken shouted as he started to resist the guard's efforts to restrain him.
" Sir if you don't comply right now I'm going to tase you and you're not going to like it! Stop resisting me!", the guard shouted as he kept trying to restrain Ken behind his back. Ken screamed in anger as his wrists were slapped with the handcuffs and was being dragged out by security.
" You're gonna regret this you d*ckheads!", Ken shouted as he was being dragged through the CDC lobby by the security guards who had a firm grip on him.
" Yeah we'll see about that Mr. ShermanOak! Get the hell out of here now before we call the Pasadena Police Department!", one of the guards shouted at him as he removed the handcuffs and roughly shoved Ken out the door onto the concrete making him land on his face. They then latched the doors before Ken could try to get back into the facility and two of the guards flipped him off with their fingers before they walked away. Ken punched the door in anger before he stormed away cursing under his breath but he came back 30 minutes later with some type of battering ram and busted through the glass doors into the lobby after letting out a psychotic scream which immediately set off the security system resulting in the police showing up and arresting him for the offense that he just committed.
" Oh now you've done it you dummy!", Rachel shouted as she came storming out into the CDC lobby in her scrubs watching her boyfriend get arrested by the police for breaking the main entrance glass lobby doors.
" Oh shut up Rachel! This is all your fault!", Ken shouted as his wrists were being slapped with handcuffs again.
" Excuse me but it's my fault?! What the bitchin' fuck did I do?!", Rachel shouted as she pointed at herself.
" Um hello you're the one that started this crap in first place when you brought that homewrecker into our relationship last night!", Ken shouted.
" Sheldon is not a homewrecker! HE'S MY CHILDHOOD BEST FRIEND!", Rachel shouted.
" Yeah well we'll see about that! He's dead when I get my hands on him!", Ken shouted as he was being taken away by the police.
" You are not going to kill my friend! You touch him and you're dead!", Rachel shouted before she spun on her heel and stormed back inside.
