Heavily on His Mind

Spencer Cassadine looks down at his phone again deep in thought. His mind was on one thing. One person.

Why isn't she is answering my texts? He wonders to himself staring down at the phone again. He continues to ponder that thought, when his thoughts are interrupted by a voice.

"Spence… Spence!" Esme Prince calls out his name annoyed that he was ignoring her at their lunch date at Kelly's.

"You've been staring at that phone since we got here." She scolds him. "Can you please get off it for a moment so we can order some food. I'm hungry." She looks down at the menu at Kelly's and takes a deep sigh.

"And there aren't really any vegan options on this menu either." She shakes her head. "Why is it so hard for restaurants in this town to provide vegan options for people. It's only like one of the fastest diet trends in this country..."

Spencer looks at her a bit annoyed. "Since when did you become a vegan all of a sudden…" He asks.

"I'm not exactly a vegan, just yet…" Esme confirms. "But I'm open to trying new things and I wanted to add more plant-based meals to my diet."

"Why because of health? The environment?" Spencer questions her in a surly manner. "What's motivating this sudden change in your diet?"

"Well... I'm not really doing it for those reasons..." Esme admits truthfully. "Though, I think they are good reasons. I just well, really, I saw other people were doing it, including some kids from boarding school, and I just thought why not try it…"

"So, you're just doing it to be doing it then. Typical." Spencer remarks rolling his eyes. "Great". He glances down at his phone again still waiting to see if he got a response.

"You can do that, and I'm going to eat bacon and actually enjoy my time here on earth…" He retorts.

Esme frowns at his response. "I still eat meat sometimes, but I just thought that incorporating more vegan meals would be…" Esme continues to notice how distance he seemed. "Spence look at me…" Esme orders, getting more frustrated with him aloofness and overall attitude.

He looks back up at her, as the sharpness of her voice pierces his ears.

"What's up with you, it's like you are in outer space or something..." Esme questions. She sits back in her chair and folds her arms, looking at him.

"I'm…. I'm sorry" Spencer apologizes half-heartedly.

"Is something the matter…?" Esme asks curiously. "Are you still…?" She makes a face as she ponders what's distracting him.

"Did you have another falling out with your dad?" She questions, wondering if he had another dustup with his father Nikolas Cassadine. Things were rocky between the two and she hoped that things hadn't gotten worse. If so that would interfere with her plan and it had already been set back further than she liked.

Spencer shakes his head. "No…"

"Okay is this about…?." Esme frowns as she considers the next option for her boyfriend's surly attitude. "Is this about Trina? Are you still concerned about the confrontation we had the other day?" She probes thinking about the confrontation that had happened between them and Trina Robinson at the Metro Court Pool. "And about her outing your identity to Joss…?"

Spencer sighs and looks down and then back up at her.

Esme shakes her head. "This is about Trina…." She leans forward, puts her hands on the table and gives him a serious look.

"Spence… don't worry so much about that." She advises him. "So, she got upset & told Joss about you being Victor… But it will work itself out…" Esme suggests. "Joss said she wasn't going to force you to tell Nikolas you were in town earlier, so it looks you're in the clear there…" She speculates and then smiles.

Spencer shakes his head. "How can we be so sure?" He wonders a bit concerned. "Joss was really pissed at me. Who knows what she might do…?"

"Well, she did say she wouldn't rat you out as long as you apologized to Trina…" Esme interjects. "So that's what needs to be done." She affirms. "You need to apologize to Trina for your lack of sense-it-tivity.." Esme draws out the last word and laughs. "Heck if you want, I'll be there with you for support. We can apologize to her together." She proposes.

Spencer makes a face at Esme's suggestion. "We?" He repeats. "Yeah, I don't think that Trina's going to go for that…" He sits back in his chair.

Esme reaches over and rubs Spencer's hand. "She might if you make it sound sincere…"

"I don't have to make it sound sincere; I really am sorry that I hurt her." He admits sheepishly.

"Well... then good you won't have to try as hard to appear convincing…" Esme tells him. "But yeah, we should apologize."

"Esme, I think that's something that I should do on my own, given my relationship and history with Trina…" Spencer suggests.

Esme folds her arms after he makes this suggestion. "Why do you have to do it alone? Why don't you want me around?" She asks a bit miffed that he didn't want to include her. "We do things together… remember…" She reminds him.

Spencer nods… "I know but things were really ugly between you and Trina the last time around. She basically accused you of setting the fire to Ava's car and planting Kiki's badge." He gives Esme a knowingly look. "I don't think she's going to want you as an audience when I apologize."

"Well…" Esme begins waving her hand. "Maybe if I act like I'm sorry too, she might be more receptive…"'

"I don't think so.."

Esme leans back in her chair and wrinkles her nose. "Hmmm… "Well… I think…" She then stops as her phone buzzes. She looks down at it and sees a number and makes an excited face.

"Oh, this is an important phone call..." She tells Spencer.

"Who is it?" He asks curiously.

"Uh… I'll tell you more about that later." She promises him. "But I have to step outside for a moment and take this call."

"Rude.." Spencer grumbles.

"Give me a few, I'll be back." Esme promises. She jumps up suddenly and then heads towards the front door of Kelly's and goes off to the side of the building to take her important call.

Spencer glances at her for a moment as she walks away and makes a face.

That was strange. He thinks. He then looks down at his phone again.

Come on, text me back… He wills.

Just then a familiar person walks through the front door of Kelly's and makes her way towards the counter. Spencer sees her as she walks up there.

He smiles and a happy feeling washes over him. He feels his heart jump a bit at the sight of her. He decides to get up and approach her.

"Trina…" He says touching her arm. She turns around to face him.

"Spencer…"

"Hi…." He greets her smiling. He steps a bit closer to her. He stares into her pretty brown eyes, getting lost in them for a moment.
