Eri's Holidays With The Yakuza
"This is stupid." Overhaul remarked as he glared at the ridiculous outfits that were displayed in the store.
Apparently, Kurono had mentioned to Eri that Halloween was soon, and described to her what the holiday was all about… and she just wouldn't stop talking about it. Overhaul had hoped to avoid any festivities so he can get actual shipments of Trigger out for consumers on time for their personal use during the holiday seasons, but here they were. It so happens to be the night before Halloween and she had been annoying him to get costumes.
Overhaul narrowed his eyes as he skimmed through the costumes. If Kurono keeps telling her about these holidays, why doesn't he take her for their festivities? Why do I have to be the one? He was irritated, he had caught the smugness on his friend's face when Eri pleaded for him after a session to go shopping for costumes.
Eri decided she wanted to be a princess and was inspecting each princess outfit, she looked at him expectantly, "You should find something too!"
He glared at her, "You are the one getting candy, I don't see the point of dressing up too."
"Because it's fun! And I'm sure you will get candy too if you are dressed up with me!"
Overhaul rolled his eyes, that wasn't the point, he just didn't like the idea of being surrounded by uncleaned children who had their grubby hands already touching the candy bowls from strangers' houses. Just thinking about it made him cringe of how unsanitary it would be…
Eri finally picked out a red princess dress that came with a fuzzy crown. Eri frowns up at him seeing how he looked offended by the adult costumes. She glanced around the store seeing a section that weren't fully costumes, but had accessories. She smiled going to the area seeing something that caught her eye, he glanced her way seeing her holding up different accessories.
He scoffs, "Fine." She held up three different accessories that can make up a costume. It resembled a plague doctor outfit with the mask, top hat, and cloak. He was slightly amused of how fitting it would be as they were surrounded by the diseased.
On Halloween night before the sun had set, Kurono and some of the other Yakuza men held back laughter seeing an irritated Overhaul in a top hat and shrouded in black clothes, cloak, and goggles over his regular mask, while Eri beamed at them happily in her princess outfit.
Overhaul gritted his teeth as he noticed quick pictures were taken. He growled out, "If I see those anywhere..." They stopped their jesting as they got the hint. He sighed as she pulled on his arm impatiently, wanting to go.
He glared at his men as they sarcastically waved at them goodbye. He had decided after the evening of hell, he will kill them and reconstruct them to make sure they learned their lesson for taunting him. It had annoyed him further when he asked if any other person in the compound had children that can take her with them, they all denied of having children. Seriously, none of them had children? He finally gave up asking around after seeing how persistent she was to only want him to take her. He sighed inwardly as she held his gloved hand as he guided them through the underground a loathing episode of glaring at all the men as they each denied of having children to have Eri tag along with, he decided it probably would be better if he just did it to make sure she doesn't get lost… God knows if the men would actually watch her, and they would need to pray to their god if she went missing.
Overhaul planned their route for a wealthy neighborhood. If she got more candy quickly, they can finish the night early with her bag being too full to go to any more places. They walked further into the underground tunnel towards the nicer parts in the city as they resurfaced through a conventional store. Overhaul nods to the tenant as he and Eri ventured to the residential area.
Coming up to their first house, Eri nervously glanced at him as kids rushed the house she was about to go to.
He sighed, "It's alright to go up to the house, if you are uncomfortable with fighting other kids for candy wait and go by yourself." Overhaul stayed back as he watched Eri nervously walk up the steps to the house.
Eri went up to the door and knocked, "Treat or Trick!" she exclaimed then nervously glanced down as the door opened.
The owner was a plum elderly woman, she smiled down at her, "Awe, you're so cute." The woman dropped a handful of candy. She smiled more as Eri beamed up turning back to him and waving the candy she got in the air for him to see. The woman called to Overhaul who had been leaning to the side on a porch pillar, "What an adorable daughter you have."
He peered at the lady giving her an awkward kind gesture, "Thanks."
Eri bounced down the steps to his side and he turns with her as they left. She beams down excitedly with the success of her first house with the multiple types of candy in her Jack-O-Lantern bag. Overhaul remarked, "Not bad for your first house, but try saying trick or treat on the next house, it sounds nicer."
Eri nods as they went down the street to continue her candy spree. She worked up the courage to walk up to the door with other kids, Overhaul crosses his arms uncomfortable with the other parents flocking on the sidewalk as they watch their children go up to the door.
He noticed one of the mom's staring at him, he stared back expecting some sort of response.
"Nice costume." She remarked, he scowled slightly seeing how simplistic the other adults' costumes were, some just had Halloween shirts. He was basically one of the only adults in a full costume, it was ridiculous and embarrassing...
He scoffed at her, "It's my daughter's first time Trick or Treating, what kind of parent would I be if I didn't go all out for her?"
He smirked slightly seeing how embarrassed the woman looked, he was glad Eri and the rest of the kids came at that moment to make it a spectacle. Eri beams up at him showing him what she got from that house, "Look! That house gave out candy packets that stores give out to people!"
Overhaul pats her head, sneering back at the woman, "Wow, you hit the jackpot."
Eri nods, pulling him to go to another house he waves sarcastically as the group of parents went to another house.
Overhaul glanced at his phone for the time as they walked further through the residential areas of the city. The sun had already set and he noticed there were more older kids hitting the streets at this hour. He looked over her shoulder seeing a good amount of space left in her bag, How the hell isn't it full yet?
"Hey, it's starting to get late." He started.
Eri looked up at him, "Okay, I'm almost done! A couple more houses please?"
He scratched at his mask, "Alright."
Eri beamed at him, then ran down a driveway. Overhaul narrowed his eyes watching some of the older kids participating in the trick aspect of the holiday. A house that was already done for the night was getting TP-ed, toilet paper was tangled in the landscape. Overhaul decided to follow Eri on this next house, he noticed the bushes rustling ahead of him as Eri was passing by it. Shit. Roars erupted out of the bushes as ghoulish masked twenty-year-olds rushed the little princess.
Eri screamed falling on her back as they acted like they would pounce on her and then they burst into laughter. In mid-laughter Overhaul caught up with an upper cut to the lead of the three assholes. The boy fell back onto his friends, blood leaked under the ghoul mask from the broken nose.
"What the hell man?! It was a prank!" The boy screamed at him.
Eri hugged Overhaul's leg hiding her tears. The Yakuza glares at them, "Yeah it was really cute. I'm curious if you would find my prank funny?" Overhaul gave them a sinister look as he slipped off his gloves taking a threatening step to them, the boys backed away running. Overhaul shook his head putting the gloves back on, Another reason why I hate holidays, there will always be assholes that try to ruin it.
He glanced down at a teary eyed Eri, "Are you okay kid?"
She nods wiping her eyes, "I'm okay, they just scared me…Maybe they were jealous with all the candy I got."
Overhaul couldn't help but chuckle, "Oh I'm sure they are. Are you still up for your last houses?"
Eri smiled up at him, "Yup!"
Overhaul carried Eri back through the tunnels to the compound, half way back she was having difficulties keeping up with his strides.
As he walked, Eri thumbed through the candy, "What kinds are your favorite?"
Overhaul peered down at her, "I'm not really a big fan of sweets, besides that's your candy."
Eri shook her head, "Nuh uh it's both of ours."
He sighed knowing she wouldn't stop pestering him until she got an answer, "If you got any salted or caramel candies hand them over."
She giggles as she picked out the candies in her lap as he carried her to her room. Once he was able to put her down for bed, she handed him his requested candy as he left. Overhaul made his way to the main house towards the common room.
He narrowed his eyes seeing Kurono and Nemoto watching a horror movie, "Busy huh?"
His two subordinates jumped at the unexpected voice. Kurono grinned at him, "How was the turn out?"
Overhaul scowled at him, "You're dealing with her if she gets a sugar rush with the amount of candy she got. I honestly don't see the point in telling her about Halloween, all she's going to get out of it are stomach aches and bad teeth."
As the movie was reaching a climax, Overhaul decided to sit through it on the other sofa, he lowered his mask slightly to pop a salted chocolate in his mouth. Hiding the fact from the other two that he had a candy stash in his pocket.
Kurono shrugs to answer after the scene concluded, "I figured a kid should experience Halloween once in their life." Oh, it's going to be hilarious when he finds out I've told her about other holidays too…
Delayed Halloween Fanfiction! Hope you all enjoyed! I'm thinking of making a collaboration of different holidays for this fanfiction so let me know if there are any specific holidays you would love to see Eri make Overhaul endure!
