Welcome to the sequel to Yin Yang Twins. So as many people are aware, the world hasn't been so good for a while. I would have started working on the story earlier, but life happens and you can't always do the things you had planned. As of now, (7/23/20) school is starting soon for me, the first two weeks being online. I don't know when this will be posted, so I might be a few weeks or a month into school when this gets up. I'll try to write a few chapters before posting this chapter, but who knows what will happen.
Alright, to what this AN is supposed to be about. I have several ideas for this story and, as was for Yin Yang Twins, this is a rewrite of the original story that I had uploaded to my Masters of Spinjitzu Amino account. I've reread the original, sort of, so I know how to stay on track so it's still the same story. Fun fact, while I was writing the story for my Amino account, I subconsciously made a few details similar to The Day of the Departed special. The villains in the story were the same as DOTD, with the exception of Harumi, Samukai, and Master Yang. I'll try to limit the villains in the story the those I want to focus most on. There were other details in the original that had been inspired by other writers, so I'll make sure to steer clear of inspired ideas so I only use my own. It wasn't intentional, but I've been working on my own original story so I should be able to keep this story to my own ideas.
Anyways, I hope those who read enjoy.
Oh, and for details mentioned in this sequel, my stories take place between late spring and mid-summer in 2018 before Lloyd and Autumn's seventeenth birthday and seasons 11 and onwards are not in the "canon" of my stories.
The scratching of the pencil on the paper, the wind in her ears, and the rustling from the cherry blossom tree was the only sound that filled the void of silence as she drew in her sketchbook. While she liked spending time with her friends, she always needed some time to herself. Which was achieved by sitting high up in a tree and drawing something to calm her mind. This time it was a macabre art. Something creepy with a little bit of blood, or a lot, was just what she needed to escape the reality and madness that came with living with ninja.
She hadn't thought too much about joining the team like her brother and friends, but she did enjoy watching them during training. Although she didn't hate the idea of being a ninja, she wanted to be able to finish school and stay the same as she had been her entire life.
She continued drawing in her sketchbook for about forty-five minutes, letting her dark emotions guide her hand across the paper. Though the others would find her art creepy and disturbing, it really wasn't to her. For someone who had been in and out of the Cursed Realm for a little under two years, she didn't scare easy.
"That's kinda creepy. More so than usual."
The voice startled her, nearly causing her to swiftly move her pencil across the paper. The movement could've ruined her sketch, which at this point had taken over an hour to do. She looked to whom the voice came from and seeing who it was, she was less annoyed.
"You bitch. You could have made me mess up, Morro," she said, gently shoving Morro's shoulder. Morro chuckled and used the branch they were sitting on to keep his balance.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, Autumn," he said. Autumn sighed and tucked her pencil behind her ear while she flipped her sketchbook shut. She tossed it down to the ground, planning on finishing her sketch later.
"Just be happy you weren't someone else. Otherwise, I would have stabbed you with my pencil."
"Living with ninja is really bringing out your violent side. In the fourteen weeks you've been living under the same roof as Lloyd and your parents after years of being alone, you've threatened to stab everyone with something from between a pencil to a butcher knife. A few people twice."
"Okay, yes. I can get a little stabby. But I wouldn't actually do anything. Even though Taylor was, and still is, a good person under her mental disorders, it never felt like home being with her. I don't want to do anything that could cause me to end up alone again." There was quick silence between them before Morro threw his arm around Autumn's shoulders, pulling her close.
"You and I both know that won't happen. Your parents are done not having you around. Same goes for Lloyd. And even if in some hypothetical world something does happen and everyone wants you to leave, you're not going alone. I wouldn't stay if you were forced to leave. And there's no arguing. You know that I would follow you if you left on your own," Morro reassured her. Autumn let her head rest on Morro's shoulder, allowing Morro to wrap his other arm around her.
"Yeah yeah, I know you would do that for me. But what you said was only hypothetical. It wouldn't actually happen."
"Exactly. So don't think something will happen and you'll be kicked out. Because it won't. And if anyone says otherwise, I'll kill them." Autumn chuckled. She knew Morro wasn't serious about killing anyone. That was just his protectiveness talking. Autumn pulled herself out of Morro's embrace and playfully punched him in the arm.
"Keep talking like that and you might be the one thrown out." The two companions shared a laugh, lightening the mood after their disheartening conversation.
"So, how did you find my favorite hiding spot," Morro asked.
"I was unaware this tree was yours. Because I don't see a name carved on it anywhere," Autumn teased.
"Haha. I wasn't the kind of person that carved my name into a tree. This is just where I would go to avoid the other elemental masters when they go on my nerves. Even though I got on their nerves more often."
"What other elemental masters did you live with after my uncle took you in? You don't really talk about your life before you left the monastery."
"Well, there weren't too many other elemental masters, only four. Three of them were teenagers and the forth was in his mid-to-late twenties. They were actually-" The rest of Morro's statement was lost by another voice from behind and below them.
"Morro and Autumn, sitting in a tree." Upon hearing their names sung by the voice, they turned around and looked to the gates of the monastery and saw Jay looking up at them and holding back laughter. During the quick pause between verses, Morro and Autumn blushed, knowing exactly what Jay was implying. Autumn gave Jay a death glare and finished the next verse.
"Finish that song and I'll stab you in the eye." Morro and Jay went silent and stared at Autumn. Morro did his best to hold back his laughter but failed miserably. He burst into a laughing fit, using the tree to stabilize himself. Jay slowly backed away back into the monastery, smiling nervously.
"Noted," was all he said before he disappeared into the monastery. Morro's laughing fit subsided and he caught his breath.
"Oh my god, Autumn! That was hilarious!"
"What the hell was he thinking? Yes, we hang out a lot. But it doesn't mean we like each other." Autumn jumped down from the branch they sat on, nearly losing her balance and falling, while Morro climbed down.
"Do you have something against climbing down," Morro questioned. Autumn brushed herself off and picked up her sketchbook she had previously tossed down. She turned back to Morro and merely shrugged.
"No. It's just faster," Autumn said with a smirk. She walked back into the monastery, Morro following close behind her.
"I should start keeping track of who you threaten to stab, with what, and how many times," Morro said as he shut the monastery gates behind them. Autumn let out a quick chuckle and rolled her eyes.
"Haha, Morro. You're sooo funny," she said with a hint of sarcasm. They both laughed off their words as they kicked off their shoes before entering the monastery. They split off to their own doings, Autumn to her room to finish her sketch and try to brush through her tangled hair, which she still rarely brush, and Morro to meet up with Cole, Lloyd, Jay, and Kai for a quick training session. Zane and PIXAL were at Borg Industries working on a few projects for Borg, and it was an excuse for PIXAL to see her father, and Skylor and Nya were having a girl's day and were, probably, picking out everything that annoyed them about the boys.
The boys paired up by whoever won the sparring match, the winner going against a new person. After a few rounds, Morro went up against Jay, making Jay very nervous. Morro smirked at Jay and popped his knuckles.
"You're not gonna use what I said earlier as leverage, are you," Jay asked nervously.
"No, of course not. Why would I do that," Morro replied. He threw a punch at Jay, which he dodged. Jay knew Morro was physically stronger than him, and knowing that Morro was using his joke as leverage, he knew Morro had the upper hand. Morro was able to throw Jay off his balance by putting his left ankle behind Jay's right one and causing him to fall.
"Okay, I understand if you're annoyed or maybe even mad, but it was just a joke! I wasn't being serious in any way," Jay said, now a hint of fear in his voice.
"Don't tell that to me. Tell it to her," Morro said before flipping Jay onto his back. The others exchanged looks of confusion, not knowing what Jay and Morro were talking about.
"What are you guys talking about," Cole asked just as Morro got up after Jay knocked him down.
"Autumn and I were up in that cherry tree just outside talking and for his amusement, Jay started singing that stupid song about two lovers in a tree, directing it at me and Autumn, which pissed her off," Morro said, just barely being able to dodge a punch from Jay. The other three looked at Jay with a 'You fucked up' face.
"Really Jay? We all know it's a bad idea to piss off Autumn," Kai said, which in turn made Lloyd give him an annoyed look.
"While yes, it's a bad idea to annoy her, it's especially a bad idea for you to annoy her since you two can't get along." Kai rolled his eyes at his little brother, but it was true. Autumn and Kai still had their differences. They couldn't even have a civil conversation without getting into some kind of argument. Lloyd removed his training gear and headed out of the room.
"I'll go check on Autumn, make sure she's not planning to kill anyone." Lloyd made his way towards Autumn's room and knocked on her door when he arrived.
"Come in, Lloyd," she replied through the door. Lloyd entered the room, seeing Autumn in front of her mirror trying to brush through her tangled hair.
"How did you know it was me," Lloyd asked. Autumn turned to face Lloyd and sat on her bed, continuing to brush through her hair.
"Remember, I memorized everyone's way of knocking. Also, you knock the exact same way since we were at Darkley's."
"Right, I forgot. Do you want some help with your hair," he asked, noticing Autumn was struggling. Autumn raised her eyebrows at him and reluctantly handed her hairbrush to him. Lloyd took the brush and sat next to Autumn and brushed through her hair.
"You're lucky you weren't interrupting anything. Had you, I would've thrown my hairbrush at you," Autumn joked, making Lloyd chuckle
"It's better if I piss you off rather than anyone else. Especially when it's someone shipping you with your best friend."
"Ohh. So, you know what Jay did?"
"Yep. And I thought Morro and I explained to everyone how dangerous it was to annoy you. And you and I shared a womb, so I really know you better than anyone." Autumn laughed, knowing how true it was. She used to get in so much trouble at Darkly's whenever the older boys picked on her.
Now, after only a few weeks of Autumn living with the ninja, it was common knowledge to not piss her off. She was very sweet most of the time, but she could also be very easily pissed off. For those who were more unfamiliar with how Autumn was on a day to day basis, they learned to not interrupt her while she was reading, watching Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, or Pokémon, or playing one of four games, Until Dawn, Detroit: Become Human, The Last of Us, or Telltale's The Walking Dead on her PS4 console. Interrupting her during such activities may result in someone getting a black eye.
Soon enough, Lloyd finished brushing through Autumn's hair, which now looked very soft and silky. Afterward, Autumn pulled off a hair tie from her wrist and handed it back to Lloyd.
"You mind braiding my hair just to keep it out of the way," Autumn asked. Lloyd nodded and took the hair tie and began braiding Autumn's hair. After he finished, he noticed Autumn's sketchbook was opened to the sketch she had been working on earlier that day.
"Jeez. I forgot you liked drawing macabre art," he said, looking away feeling creeped out. Autumn chuckled, pulling her braid across her shoulder and setting her sketchbook aside.
"What? Don't like it?" She playfully punched Lloyd in his shoulder.
"I didn't say that. All I said was that I forgot you liked drawing that," he responded, reciprocating Autumn's playful action. They both laughed, messing around like they had when they were children. A bit later, Lloyd returned to the others to finish training and Autumn took to playing one of her video games. When Lloyd returned, Jay was holding an ice pack the side of his neck, which was already starting to bruise, while Cole was applying a butterfly bandage to his forehead.
"Seems like Morro really fucked you up," Lloyd said, earning a chuckle from Morro, who was on the other side of the room.
"Remind me to never piss him or Autumn off ever again," Jay said, making the other boys laugh. Jay eventually joined in with the others and they all laughed.
And that's chapter one! I hope you enjoyed it! As of posting this, it is October 2. So yeah, school has been pretty busy. I don't how often I'll be posting since I am in 12th grade this year and I want to make sure I do as well as I can. I have already started chapter two but I'm not done yet. We'll just have to see what happens.
