It was a beautiful, peaceful day in the quiet region of Mount Paozu, there lived a small round house in a quite nature area with a quiet stream flowing beside. Everything was peaceful with the quiet wind blowing and the birds chirping.

Inside the house on the second floor was a small 10-year-old boy with black messy, unkempt hair and eyes, wearing a blue sleeveless changshan with a green trim and a lavender long sleeve shirt underneath with white folded sleeves and a long red sash tied around his waist which was concealed beneath his changshan, lavender Chinese pants with white folded sleeves and black Kung-Fu shoes. He was doing some homework at his desk. He knew it was so he could get good grades and get into a better school, but he often kept staring out the window. He didn't want to be up here spending his time just doing homework all day. He found this rather dull.

He remembered back in the old days in his youth where his mother trained him to be a martial artist. But that was all when his father was away and thought he was long gone forever. But how that he was back, things have changed. Now she wants him to study and get a job just like his older brother did. He loved his dad, but he didn't like homework.

"Goten!"

That voice came from the young boy's mother. And through the door stepped a woman with black eyes and hair in a high bun, wearing a yellow martial arts uniform with a purple sash, white long sleeves, a purple cloth around her shoulders, turquoise pants, blue martial arts shoes, green earrings, and red lipstick. But despite wearing martial arts clothing, she had retired all that stuff long before her first son was born.

"You nearly finished with your homework?" she asked.

"Just about." replied Goten with a smile.

"Good. Wouldn't want you to go out without a diploma." she smiled. "Maybe once you're done, I'll let you hang out with Trunks." she added and left, closing the door.

But Goten secretly didn't care about all that. All he wanted was to get stronger just like his father. He could feel all his strength fading away just by doing homework. He didn't want that. He knew a man who would have a great distaste for warriors getting soft.

It wasn't long before he finally finished his homework. Goten's face brightened and he put it all away into his backpack. What excited him the most was that this was his last homework for the whole year as summer break has finally arrived.

While his mother wasn't up here now, he was able to quietly open the window and carefully levitate out, quietly closing the window back in the process. After that, he was able to fly up into the sky. And as soon as he was high enough, he called out to the heavens.

"Flying Nimbus!"

At that moment, a yellow cloud dashed over towards Goten, who landed on top of the cloud's surface with a slight bounce.

"Hi, Nimbus. To Trunks's house as fast as you can!" said Goten happily, pointing to the distance as his cloud dashed towards the direction Goten pointed with him still sitting on top of it. He sang a little tune. "Cha-la! Head Cha-la!"

It didn't take long for the cloud to reach a city far off in the West. It was known as West City. There were lots of buildings and high-rises with people walking, chatting and driving to and fro. One of the buildings he was looking for was a big, yellow dome-like building with two c's on it and a sign on the front pathway saying, "Capsule Corporation." When he reached the entrance, he got ready to jump.

"Thanks, Nimbus." Goten said to his cloud before jumping down and landing safely on his feet.

As he ran for the front gate, he heard what sounded like a little girl crying. He stopped to see a young girl his age in a yellow dress and brown hair, bawling into her palms as her red floated away. Thinking quickly, Goten leapt up and snagged the balloon's string, pulling it back to the ground with him.

The girl was still crying until she saw what looks like a little boy jumping high and grabbing her balloon before they both came down. And the next thing she knew, the boy was handed it over towards her.

"Here you go." he said with a bright smile.

Bewildered, the girl took the balloon back and the boy ran towards the Capsule Corporation building while the girl watched him go for a short while until she heard her mother calling.

"Valese, come on, it's time to go!"

Valese snapped out of her thoughts and turned back to her mother.

"Coming, Mommy!" she called as she ran back towards her with her balloon.

Goten ran up towards the door and pressed the button beside the door, ringing the doorbell. He waited for a few seconds until the door opened, revealing a woman in her early 40's with short blue hair.

"Oh, hi there, Goten." smiled the woman. "So, I guess you've finally gotten yourself out of your mom's grasp on your homework, huh?"

"Hi, Bulma." replied Goten. "Is Trunks here?"

"Yeah, he just finished training with Vegeta." replied Bulma as she moved aside, letting him in.

"Thanks." smiled Goten as he walked in.

Goten knew the house inside and out, so he knew all the places where Trunks had to be. And knowing that he just finished training, that should mean he must be coming down the hallway that's nearest the training room. And very soon, coming from a side-hall, he found a young boy one year older than him with short, light purple hair and blue eyes, wearing a yellow sleeveless shirt, blue shorts, socks and tennis shoes. He was wiping his face with a rag as he went. Goten smiled; he knew who he was.

"Hiya, Trunks!" called Goten, waving to him as he caught Trunks's attention.

"Hey, Goten." replied Trunks. "So, you finally got away from your mom, huh?"

"Yep." said Goten brightly. "Had Uncle Vegeta trained you hard?"

"Yeah, you know him. Always hardcore." Trunks chuckled. "But hey, if you're up for another sparring session together, I'm still up for it."

"Yeah, this time I won't lose to you, Trunks." said Goten with fiery determination.

"Hm, we'll see." Trunks smirked back.

Outside, in the backyard, Bulma's father, Dr. Briefs was working on something that looks like a machine with a giant mechanical ring. He had been working on this thing for some time and was impressed with the results.

Just then, Bulma arrived to check on him.

"Hey, Dad. How's the machine working?" she asked.

"It's doing well, my dear." Dr. Briefs replied. "But tell me again why you wish to have this thing built?"

"Duh, you recall how there were other universes besides our own, right?" said Bulma. "Well, I for one would love to see these worlds myself without having to need Whis, Beerus or Jaco taking us there, that always wastes so much time. All we have to do is step inside this thing and we immediately step inside any kind of universe we want!"

"Any universe you say?" asked Dr. Briefs again.

"Yep." smiled Bulma. "Besides, ever since the tournament of power, I've grown quite interested in what these universes look like. I'm sure Goku would certainly like to see it too."

"Well, whatever you say, dear daughter." said Dr. Briefs. "In any case, I think it might be done."

He stopped working and walked a good distance to where his daughter is, pulling out a remote with a red button. Once he pressed the button, the machine began to make a humming noise, sparks of energy shot around the ring, and then finally the middle of the ring showed what looks like a glowing, swirling portal. Both Dr. Briefs and Bulma were astounded.

"Well, I'll be." said Dr. Brief in a loss for words.

"It's... it's complete!" smiled Bulma in amazement. "IT'S FINALLY COMPLETE! Now we can step inside of any universe we want!"

Meanwhile, not too far away, Goten and Trunks were out on the training field in the backyard. They had been sparring non-stop, throwing punches, kicks and other signature attacks they had. They even took their fight to the air as they used their energy to fly, making their sparring session even more intense. It looked like Trunks was about to win until Goten began to get the upper hand and gave a strong strike to Trunks, blowing him towards the edge of the playing field. But Trunks managed to save himself by charging up his energy in a white energy aura, coming to a stop instantly.

Trunks could see Goten about to give the final blow when suddenly, Trunks lost control and he began to change as his aura went golden, his hair went all spikey while changing golden and his pupils went completely blue. This gave him much more power and strength as he gave Goten a sharp kick at the last moment, sending him down and sliding along the ground, just slowly coming to a stop near the edge. Goten recovered, looking peeved.

"Hey, that's not fair, Trunks!" Goten shouted. "We agreed no Super Saiyan changes!"

"Maybe I agreed, maybe I didn't?" Trunks shrugged cheekily.

Goten growled in agitation as he stood back up.

"That's it, Trunks! If you aren't going to follow the rules, then neither am I!" he snapped as he started changing himself.

Goten's energy charged in a golden color as black hair spiked up and turned golden while his black eyes turned blue. He had changed into a Super Saiyan as well. Trunks watched but didn't seem to care.

"Fine by me." smirked Trunks. "To be honest, Goten, I was actually hoping that one day we'd face off as Super Saiyans. That way we can without a doubt find out who's the strongest."

"Yes, we will." Goten smirked back.

With that said, they both floated high into the air and went into their battle stances. And after a little standoff, they both charged towards each other and gave each other a flurry of punches and kicks.

"Not bad, Goten. It seems your dad has toughened you up a little bit." Trunks murmured while fighting.

"Well, you know how he is when it comes to him and your dad." Goten replied while fighting.

Knowing the power and strength rivalry both their fathers have, Trunks couldn't help but agree. And the two kept on fighting, taking it higher into the air.

They shot back before charging towards each other again. With each blow, they made shockwaves everywhere in the sky. The battle was getting very intense. It was lucky that since it was high up in the sky, nobody on the ground would get hurt. Then, after a while the boys flew a good distance from each other and positioned themselves for another attack.

Goten cupped his hands, drew them to his side and concentrated his energy between them. As he did so, he muttered some words.

"Ka...me...ha...me..."

Trunks on the other hand curled his fingers and placed both his hands together at his chest level, facing Goten's direction while charging some energy.

It wasn't long until both attacks were ready!

"GALICK GUN!" Trunks yelled as he thrusted his hands forward, firing a powerful blast of purple energy towards Goten.

"...HA!" Goten yelled as he thrusted his hands forward, firing a powerful beam of blue energy towards Trunks.

Both blasts made contact with each other point blank in the center, and both boys began struggling to push it further to overpower the other. Back and forth the beam struggle went. It felt as if it was a balloon being squeezed together, ready to pop at any given moment. In the end, the pressure became so much, there was a massive explosion in the sky. Out from the blast came Goten, who was shot by the massive shockwave of the blast and sent flying backwards while Trunks gave chase.

But none of them realized that they were headed towards Bulma's portal!

And before anyone could think, they suddenly flew right through the portal at such speed. Bulma was so started, she turned back just in time to see the portal spark up again before going out, closing the portal entire. The sheer power from the boys made it difficult for the machine to bear and it fell entirely apart.

Bulma's voice quivered. When she thought about those two forces of wind that flew past, she knew which two they were. They were Goten and Trunks, they had to be!

"Oh dear." murmured Dr. Briefs. "That can't be good."

"Oh no," agreed Bulma before going into panic mode. "THIS IS NOT GOOD AT ALL!"

In another world, in a very thick forest, there was no sign of life anywhere. There was nothing but trees and bushes with the only sound being the wind blowing, making rustles on the trees. But all that peace and quiet was about to be shattered when a swirling portal appeared out nowhere and two boys shot out from it before disappearing. Those that shot through happened to be Trunks and Goten themselves.

Goten lay on the ground, reverted back to his normal form as Trunks landed down in front of him, reverting back to his normal self.

"Looks like I win again." said Trunks proudly.

Goten groaned as he sat up.

"That was a lucky shot!" he moaned.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." Trunks shrugged. "Now come on, we better head back otherwise Mom will be worried about us."

"Oh alright." Goten sulked as he stood up and started walking with Trunks.

Even as they started walking, they still never realized they had been sent to another world, nor had they even noticed something wasn't right until 30 minutes after they started walking. Now as Trunks did recall, there were truely lots of trees around the city, but never this many. They should've arrived back at West City far beyond this point.

"Trunks, shouldn't we have arrived back at the city by now?" asked Goten.

"Yeah, I think so." said Trunks.

"You think we're lost?" Goten asked again.

"No, I saw where the skid went. So, it should be clearly this way." said Trunks, pointing into the direction opposite from where he saw Goten slide on the ground earlier.

But then again, there was no doubt in his mind that something wasn't right. He had to figure out what was going on.

"Goten, wait here." ordered Trunks before floating up into the air. "I'm going to see from above."

So, Goten waited as Trunks flew up until he was high above the trees.

When Trunks reached over the top, he gasped in shock. He couldn't see his house anywhere. Heck, he couldn't even find the city either! All he could find were nothing but trees. Trees here, trees there, trees everywhere! It looked like an endless forest from where he was looking. After taking a moment to look, he called back down to Goten.

"Uh Goten, you... might want to take a look up here!"

In a second or two, Goten floated up beside Trunks above the trees.

"What's the matter, Trunks?" he asked.

"Tell me if you can see the city from up here?" said Trunks anxiously.

So, Goten took a moment to look around.

"Hmmm, I don't see it anywhere." he said.

"Exactly!" cried Trunks. "West City's not there! But how could..." he paused as his eyes widened in realization. "Oh no!"

"What's wrong, Trunks?" Goten asked again.

"Aw man!" grunted Trunks, facepalming his forehead. "I just remembered! My mom was making something that looks like a machine to walk between universes. And from what I'm seeing, I think we might've flown through it."

"Are you saying we're now in some other universe?" asked Goten.

"Exactly." replied Trunks.

"Well, where's the portal then?" Goten asked hopefully.

"I don't know." quivered Trunks nervously. "I didn't see one after we landed on the ground. I checked!"

Hearing this gave Goten an awful feeling deep inside. Knowing that there was no portal back, it gave Goten a terrible thought.

"So then... does this mean... we're stuck here?!" he cried. "Trunks, how are we going to get home?!" he exclaimed before his shoulders were grasped by Trunks.

"Now Goten, don't panic!" said Trunks firmly, shaking his shoulders. "I'm sure my mom might know that we've gone through and would want to open it again to come looking for us. All we have to do is wait."

"For how long?" asked Goten.

"She had to have noticed by now, so it should be soon." Trunks eased.

This made Goten feel a little better and they carefully floated back towards the ground.

The two boys returned to the spot where Goten had landed on the ground and waited there for Bulma to open up the portal again. They waited and waited. Since still no portal appeared, they couldn't move. However long it took, they were going to have to wait. The minutes started to feel like hours. And at this point, Goten could feel his stomach growling and he clutched his tummy.

"Oh, I need food!" Goten moaned.

Trunks rolled his eyes, having heard him doing something like this before.

"He's definitely like his dad." he thought.

Then Trunks felt something crawling up his arm and looked to find what looks like an ant. He swatted it aside and dead, which got Goten's attention.

"Trunks are you okay?" asked Goten.

"Yeah, just an ant." Trunks sighed.

"But did you really have to kill it?" Goten asked with concern.

"Some can bite, you know." Trunks retorted. "Haven't you ever heard of fire ants?"

"Hmmm," Goten pondered for a moment with a finger to his chin, "not sure."

Trunks sighed in frustration.

But what the boys didn't know was that the ant Trunks had squashed was no ordinary ant. It wasn't a normal, nor fire, or any other kind of ant history had ever recorded. This ant however was a very dangerous kind, which selects food with a voracious appetite and could consume several times their own weight within a single day. In this world, this kind of ant was known to be driven to its near extinct. This species was known as, the chimera ant!

Farther way, on the southern shores, one of those ants was emerging from the sea, unconscious but alive as it washed up on the beach. It was 2 meters tall and missing one arm. It moaned and groaned as it regained consciousness and started crawling onto the sand.
