To Go Beyond Your Limit

When Ash returned from Orange league he got destroyed by his rival Gary. He won't give up on his dream because he lost his first battle with his rival. He will train hard for 10 months and try to collect the Johto badges in 2 months. With new and old Pokemon by his side, he will destroy the competition and make sure his name is heard throughout the world.

1. Chapter 1

Chapter 1: Ash burning ambition.

Pallet Town.

No this couldn't be happening. How the hell did he lose against Gary? He came in the top 16 of the indigo league and he became the champion of the Orange league. How the hell did he lose? Ash couldn't believe it after all his accomplishments how could he lose to his rival.

"Well Ashy boy you did a great job but looks like I am the winner," said his rival Gary Oak.

Ash was still lost in his thought's so he didn't hear his rival.

"Well, gramps I'm of see ya later."

And Gary left Pallet town walking towards his next goal in life. Ash still didn't say a thing, he was still holding his injured Pikachu in his arms. The others became worried, this was not normal behavior for Ash.

"Ash are you okay?"

Ash turned his head to the person who spoke and saw the face of Brock looking at him in worry. Ash sighed and stood up while carefully holding his yellow friend in his arms. Now was not the time for feeling sorry for himself. He still needed to get Pikachu healed up after all.

He gave a small smile to Brock "yeah Brock I'm fine."

Brock was still worried, he knew Ash like the back of his hand, and seeing him so quiet was not normal. Misty also saw that something was wrong with Ash.

"Are you sure you are alright Ash? You have never been so quiet before." Misty was worried that Ash's loss to Gary might have broken him.

"Yes I'm fine Misty but Pikachu still needs healing."

Ash looked at Professor Oak, "Professor can I use your lab to get Pikachu healed up?"

Professor Oak looked at the young man he knew since he was just a toddler with a smile on his face. No matter the circumstances Ash believed the health of his pokemon was always the top priority. And that was something that Samuel Oak always would be proud of.

"Yes of course Ash lets go to my lab."

After getting Pikachu healed up Ash was laying on a big rock with Pikachu sleeping on his chest in the ranch of Professor Oak. He was still thinking about his loss against his rival Gary Oak. After thinking about it for a while he concluded that it was not the fault of his pokemon but his own. No matter how he looked at it he came always to the same answer. He was cocky and became overconfident in his ability. And also when he fought his opponents he always used his instincts and his guts. Sure it was not a bad thing to have but he was lucky he came this far in his journey by depending only on those skills. Ash didn't want to admit it but his knowledge in pokemon wasn't that good. Compare to his rival Gary his knowledge was incredibly lacking. Ash sighed what was he supposed to do?

"Pika?"

Ash was broken from his thoughts when he heard his little buddy talk to him. Ash looked at his very first partner with a smile on his face. Though their first meeting didn't go so well, after that fateful day when he tried to protect Pikachu from that flock of spearows and vice versa they became very close friends. After 2 years of traveling together, their bond grew closer and they became the best of friends. He rubbed Pikachu on that special place behind his ears that he always liked. Pikachu certainly liked what his best friend was doing.

"Chaaaaa," said Pikachu.

"Sorry, Pikachu did I wake you up?" "Pika Pikachu." "No, I'm fine Pikachu I just keep thinking about our fight with Gary."

Pikachu looked sad it was his fault that his trainer lost that battle if only he was stronger. That Eevee was strong and that skull bash certainly was powerful not only that but that Eevee had also some great speed. "Pika pi," said Pikachu sadly.

"Hey, little buddy don't blame yourself about it if anyone is to blame it should be me. I'm the one who was too cocky and became overconfident about my ability, after all," he said with a sad tone in his voice.

"PIKA PIKACHU," screamed Pikachu. No, he was not gonna let his trainer take the blame for his defeat.

Ash sighed "buddy I know you mean well but its the truth. The same thing happened when we fought lorelei in the Orange Islands. I became too cocky about my limits and challenged an elite four member without thinking about the consequences. We lost terrible all because of my stupid pride.

Pikachu looked sad, that is true that battle against that Cloyster was even more horrible. Pikachu shivered the power that shell pokemon possessed was unreal Pikachu still had nightmares about that Aurora beam. He would rather face that Dragonite again he fought in the Orange League instead of going another round with that Cloyster.

"And that is not all" ash said getting Pikachu's attention.

"My knowledge of pokemon, in general, is very low and that is something I have to work on if I want to become a pokemon master." Ash stood up carefully while holding Pikachu in his arms. His yellow friend climbed on his shoulder and looked at his friend and trainer in curiosity. Ash held out his right arm and made a fist with his hand he had a determined look in his eyes.

"But I will not give up my dream to become a pokemon master Pikachu. We will get stronger and smarter together with you me and all of my other pokemon." "PIKA" screamed Pikachu. Alright now, this is what Pikachu wanted to hear enough with that sulking time to get busy and get stronger.

"Well, ash looks like you are feeling better I was worried about you so I came to check on you." Ash was startled by the voice and turned around. "Oh hey Misty yeah me and Pikachu are feeling much better," he said smiling.

Misty smiled "That's good so you wanna know something interesting Ash?"

Ash looked at Misty with a confused look in his eyes. "Interesting?" "What do you mean by interesting?"

Misty looked at Ash with a knowing look in her eyes. "I heard from Professor Oak that Gary is going on a new journey in the Johto region." Ash looked shocked at first but then he gritted his teeth. Damm it while he is sitting here in Pallet town his rival is getting even stronger and further out of reach. But then he calmed down no that was the old Ash he will not be the same little child anymore that get's angry over every little thing that Gary does. The first thing he needed to do was getting smarter and expand his knowledge about pokemon. And the only person he could ask help with that was Professor Oak.

"Great for him I have my own plans that I need to follow."

He walked past Misty towards Oak's lab with a determined look in eyes while Misty looked stunned.

What the hell happened to Ash? Since when did Ash Ketchum not care what his rival was doing? And what was that look in his eyes? She ran after Ash hoping to find out what her friend was up to.

Oak's Lab.

Professor Oak sighed, how could he not find anything out of this GS ball.

"Aren't you scanners cumming up with any information about the GS ball Professor?" asked Tracey.

"I'm afraid not and I have to admit that I didn't expect it to be quite so difficult."

Professor Oak heard stepping noises from the stairs and he looked up. What he saw was Ash walking towards him with a determined look on his face. Oak smiled well now looks like Ash made up his mind about something. Tracey and Brock also saw Ash coming inside the room and they looked shocked. The look Ash had in eyes were full of confidence and grit determination. He stopped walking right before Professor Oak and came to a halt. Misty also came into the room happy she was not too late to hear about his friend's plan.

"Professor Oak, I want to ask you a favor."

"Mmmm and what may be that favor, my dear boy," he said.

Ash began to speak, "I thought about this a long time the reason why I lost to Gary was that I was overconfident in my own abilities and got cocky. Ash sighed but I also lack knowledge about pokemon and their strength and weaknesses." Ash had a sad look in his eyes "I only came this far on my journey through luck relying on my instincts and guts. I plan to go on a training journey to get stronger and smarter but I don't know where to get that knowledge. So I was hoping you could teach me a few things."

Professor Oak was stunned never in his life did he expect this from Ash. He never expected Ash Ketchum to come to him and ask for help. So he was certainly surprised, mmm the boy was determined that was for sure. What Ash said was true the boy had a talent for pokemon that's for sure but without knowledge about a pokemon's weakness or strength, he could only go so far. It's time I give him some knowledge, he couldn't take Ash on as his assistant because he promised that job to Tracey. But maybe he could give him some advice about how to train his pokemon.

"Well, Ash I am happy that you finally will take your training seriously. I can't take you on as my assistant since I promised that position to Tracy. But I can give you some advice about training your pokemon and how to get more knowledge."

Ash was excited, "thank you, Professor, you have no idea how much this means to me."

Samuel Oak smiled "no thanks are necessary my boy I'm just happy you came to me for advice. Now the first advice I can give you his to rotate your pokemon more when you are training them so all your pokemon can earn the same experience."

Ash nodded he was planning to do that from the start.

"And also maybe thinking about trading some of your Tauros"

Ash was shocked why would he do that?

"Ash some of those Tauros want to battle also and you always use the leader of the pack. It wouldn't be fair if you kept all those Tauros all couped up here in the ranch."

Ash nodded that's true If those Taurus wanted to battle he couldn't keep them here in the ranch.

"Now then my second piece of advice did you know that your Pokedex has all the information about the pokemon you catch. They even have information about what kind of moves they can learn and how they can learn them."

Ash was stunned what why didn't he told me about that before?

"Your reaction tells me why I didn't tell you about this before right?"

Ash nodded. "Well, I was hoping you would find out about it on your own. Gary found out so I thought for sure you could too."

Ash gritted his teeth damm it again Gary found out about something he didn't no wonder he was so strong. Ash took a deep breath and calmed himself he really needs to learn to control his anger when he was thinking about his rival.

"Thanks for the information Professor could you help me with my Tauros?"

Professor Oak nodded "yes sure Ash that is no problem I will help but it may take some time okay?"

Ash nodded "yes Professor That's no problem I still need to handle a few things may I use your phone."

Oak nodded "sure Ash you can use it you know where it is."

The boy walked to the back and called a number after a while a man in his mid-forties appeared on the screen.

"Hello, this is Anthony what can I help you with?"

"Hey, Anthony it's me Ash how is Primeape doing?"

"Ah, Ash, it's good to see you again Primeape is doing just-AAAAAAAAH."

Just before Anthony could finish his sentence a white blur knocked him to the ground. "Prime prime ape the" pokemon said in adoration to his trainer.

Ash laughed "hey there buddy how's it going?" "Pika Pikachu" greeted Pikachu to his old friend.

"Prime prime," the pokemon said and he puffed up his chest. Anthony stood up. "Well as you can see Ash Primeape is doing just fine and is in top physical shape" he grinned.

"That is great news because I will need my Primeape back for my next journey can you send him to me?"

Anthony shrugged "sure kid you don't need my permission he is your pokemon after all though Hitmonchan will be sad to see his sparring partner leave."

"Primeape ape prime," said the monkey pokemon excited to go back to his trainer.

After a while, Ash got Primeape's Pokeball from the transfer machine. "Thanks, Anthony" Ash said with a smile on his face. Anthony nodded "sure kid you take care of yourself and Primeape okay." they waved one more time and they hang up.

Ash began to call another number this time a young teenage girl with green hair appeared on the screen.

"Hello, this is the safron gym how can I help you?"

"Hey, Sabrina it's Ash how's it going?"

Sabrina smiled "aah Ash long time no see what is the reason for your call?"

Then suddenly a purple ghost flew in front of the screen. "Haunter haunter haunt," the purple ghost said.

Ash smiled at the funny ghost "hello Haunter I'm happy you still recognized me" he said.

Sabrina laughed "well of course he recognizes you Ash he is your pokemon after all." Ash nodded "I called because I'm planning to go through a training journey and I wondered if Haunter wanted to join me what do you say, buddy?" "Haunt haunt," the purple pokemon said while grinning.

"Pikachu Pika," said Pikachu happy to have his old friend on board for the ride.

Sabrina smiled "well Ash Haunter looks forward to it I will send you his Pokeball now okay."

Ash nodded and waited for a bit. Finally, after a few minutes, Haunter's Pokeball came through the machine. "Thanks, Sabrina I have Haunter's Pokeball right here." Sabrina smiled and nodded "sure thing Ash take care of yourself and Haunter okay" and they both waved goodbye.

"Well Pikachu we have one more friend to visit before we go home are you ready?" "Pika," said Pikachu excited to see his old friend again. He turned around and began walking to the stairs but he stopped when Brock and Misty walked in his path.

"So Ash where are you planning to go to if you don't mind me asking I would like to join you like old times," Brock asked?

Misty nodded "yeah Ash if you plan on going on a training journey might I suggest a place close to the beach I can work on my tan while you train."

Ash sighed he knew they wanted to come with him but he couldn't no matter how much he loved his friends this was something he needed to do alone.

"Guys I'm sorry but I plan to make this journey alone he said sadly."

His friends looked shocked but mostly Misty she was getting angry.

"Okay, Ash Ketchum, I give you 5 seconds to explain yourself right now."

Ash gulped Dammit Misty was scary when she was angry.

"Listen I don't do this to make you two angry towards me, but because I need to learn to survive on my own."

Brock was puzzled "what do you mean Ash?"

Ash sighed "You guys have always helped me and I will always be grateful for that but sooner or later you will have to leave me to fulfill your own dreams. Also because I want to prove myself I can do this alone without any ones help."

Misty looked sad "so you don't wanna travel with us anymore because we are a burden that is why you wanna abandon us?"

Ash hugged Misty, "Mist I could never abandon you guys you and Brock are my closest friends but I gotta prove I can do this on my own."

Misty nodded.

"Hey now no sad face this is not goodbye, after all, we will meet again when the Johto league starts in one year."

He let go of Misty and looked at Brock with a smiling face. "Brock I'm so glad to have met you without you me and Misty would probably have starved to death you are like the big brother I have never had."

Brock began to cry "ah stop it Ash why are you doing this to me man."

Misty wiped away her tears and grinned "you mean the big and goofy brother right Ash." Brock was startled by Misty comment and fell down. "Haha, very funny Misty," he said and stood back up.

But then Brock had a question "say Ash how do you plan to train your pokemon on your trip and get your gym badges at the same time? You only have one year before the Silver Conference begin?"

Ash smiled, "don't worry the next pokemon I'm gonna visit will help me with that."

Misty had knowing look in her eyes "you mean her yes that could work. She is the fastest pokemon on your team after all."

Ash nodded "yep with her on my team I will make sure I make it on time."

Brock was confused for a bit but then he knew who Ash was talking about and he nodded. "Yeah good thinking with her on your team you have nothing to worry about."

"Well, guys I probably should go if I wanna find her today it's getting late after all. I will see you all later at my house for dinner okay bye." and ran towards his destination.

After Ash left Brock suddenly thought about something or someone and got a nervous look on his face. Misty noticed "what's wrong Brock?"

"Uh, guys how is Ash gonna explain to his mother that he is gonna travel all alone without us for a whole year?"

Suddenly everyone in the room got nervous and Samuel Oak thought oh god I am so dead.

Route one.

"She should be around here somewhere Pikachu." "Pika."Ash and Pikachu were looking for the final member of their team. They hoped She wanted to come back to them, after all without her on their team the plan that Ash got for competing in the silver conference would not work. Ash began to scream her name "PIDGEOT WHERE ARE YOU, GIRL!" "PIIIIKAAA" Pikachu screamed.

Somewhere in the area's off route one stood a giant tree that was the home different Pidgey's, Pidgeotto' and a few Pidgeot's. But on the highest branch of the tree stood the biggest Pidgeot of them all she was sure a majestic creature. Pidgeot sighed, it has been a whole year since she last saw her trainer. She hoped he would come back for her soon the flock was already strong enough. Some of them already evolved in their final forms and the only thing they needed was a good beating she thought with a smirk. Normally she was a kind soul that wouldn't hurt her kind but some of those Pidgeotto's where a little too friendly with her if you know what I mean.

That Spearow flock and their leader Fearow also disappeared after their last battle 2 months ago she sure kicked their ass she grinningly. And even If they did come back if she wasn't around anymore the other Pidgeot's were certainly strong enough to fend them off. They weren't as strong as her but strong enough besides she wanted to go back to her trainer she really missed fighting for him. She smiled for a bit she wonders how all the other pokemon were doing Pikachu sure would have gotten stronger.

Her friend Butterfree should have migrated somewhere with his new mate. Bulbasaur she was sure the grass pokemon got even more mature. Squirtle she sighed that troublemaker sure was a handful. Kingler sure was powerful and those claws could certainly do some damage. Then there was the most friendly pokemon of the team that loveable Muk. Sure at the beginning, the smell was a little hard to get used to but after Muk learned to control it was much better. That funny little ghost was also part of the team but he didn't stay long because ash loaned her to that Sabrina girl to make her laugh a lot she sweatdropped. Apparently, that girl had a lot of issues concerning her health and Ash thought laughter was good medicine for that girl's problem. Then there was that happy pig monkey Pokemon that always stole Ash his hat and took Brock Riceball's she smiled. That monkey didn't stay long either Ash wanted Primeape to stay a bit with that Anthony guy to learn more special techniques that he couldn't teach to him. She was sure that pokemon was training hard he was fighter after all.

She sighed, There was another pokemon on Ash his team but she didn't want to get her hopes up. That boy lost her respect after he evolved. He was such a cutie when he was a Charmander and shy sometimes. But after he evolved into Charmeleon he got arrogant prideful and he thought he was better than everybody on the team. It got even worse when he evolved in a Charizard he even attack their trainer with that flamethrower of his. She got an angry look in her eyes. That stupid lizard better not do those things when I come back or I will the kick the shit out of him. She wonders if Ash caught some new members for the family she sure would like to meet them. After a while, she thought she heard something it was faint but she thought she heard a voice.

Pidgeot listened closely to the voice and then she heard it. "PIDGEOT WHERE ARE YOU GIRL!" "PIKAAA." It was her trainer and Pikachu yes finally he had returned. With a great flap of her wings, she rose in the air, and with great mach speed, she flew to the voice of her trainer while screaming her goodbyes in her on way to her flock.

"GOODBYE BITCHES LOVE YOU ALL KISSES."

The flock sweatdropped yeah there goes their leader said some of them. The male Pidgeot's were sad and some of them were even crying.

"NOOO, MY SWEET DON'T GOOO."

But she didn't care or heard anymore she was gone.

Ash sighed "where could Pidgeot be?" Pikachu was looking everywhere using his eyes and ears, hoping to see a glimpse or hear a sound. But then Pikachu saw a huge figure fast approaching with amazing speed. "Pika pi," Pikachu said to ash. Ash looked up and saw the figure fast approaching. Ash was worried it could be that stupid chicken that tried to kill him and Pikachu 1 year ago when he left Pidgeot behind to take care of that flock. That bird sure knew how to hold a grudge just because he threw a rock at him at the beginning of his journey. It wasn't his fault he was just a rookie back then after all. Ash thought he was a Pidgey and Pikachu didn't want to listen to him at that time. But after a moment the figure could be heard.

"PIDGEOOOOT" screamed the figure.

Ash looked in happiness he opened his arms and screamed "PIDGEOT I'M OVER HERE."

Pidgeot saw her trainer and got excited he even opened his arms to give her a hug who was she to deny her trainer she thought happily. She made sure to lower her speed to not hurt her trainer and she tackled her trainer into the ground rubbing her head against him happily.

"Pidgeoo Pidgeoo" she cawed happily.

"Hey, there Pidgeot wow you sure have gotten big and strong."

"Pika said Pikachu happily."

Pidgeot smiled at the mouse and greeted her old friend. he sure has lost some weight she remembered Pikachu being a bit on the chubby side. He must have been on a diet maybe Ash didn't feed the mouse ketchup anymore she thought jokingly. Ash stood up and rubbed his old friend on the head affectionally. Pidgeot cawed in bliss "Pidgeooo" she has missed her trainer so much.

"Well girl are you ready to come back to the team we are going on a special training journey and I need your help," Ash said.

Pidgeot nodded in excitement hell yeah let's go she was done with this place. She wanted to have more adventures with her trainer and her old friends. Pidgeot placed her on the same height as her trainer so he could climb on her. Ash smiled and climbed on her friend.

"Tell me if we are too heavy Pidgeot I don't want you to push yourself."

Pidgeot snorted hah they too heavy for her as if. Let's give Ash a little test of my speed and strength she thought with a mischievous glint in her eyes. And with a powerful flap of her wings, she took off in awesome mach speed. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAH" screamed Ash "PIKAAAA" the little mouse pokemon screamed. Pidgeot smirked and flew towards pallet town while Ash was screaming.

"OK PIDGEOT I GET IT YOU ARE FAST BUT PLEASE SLOW DOWN FOR ME OK," he asked pleadingly. "PIKAACHUUUU," said the yellow mouse.

Pidgeot nodded and slowed down at a respectable speed that was ok for Ash and Pikachu. And then she kept course and flew towards Oak's Ranch.

Oak's Ranch.

Bulbasaur was enjoying a good walk it feels good to be back in the Ranch again after their long and hard journey in the Orange Islands. He looked around and saw all of Ash pokemon old and new enjoying different kinds of activities. Kingler was playing with their newest and youngest member Lapras. She certainly has taken a shine to the crab pokemon. Then Bulbasaur saw another new team member of the family sleeping at his heart's content. The big giant Snorlax with a heart of gold. He saw Muk talking with his friend Squirtle they became good friends in the two years our group was traveling. He just hopes Squirtle isn't going to teach him how to do pranks one trickster was enough in the family. Then He saw the group off Tauros Running around. Well, what was left of them anyway. There were only 15 Tauros left and one of them the leader was a part of their family. The other 15 were going to be traded with other pokemon and they were going to be new members of our family. There were four other pokemon in their family but unfortunately, we're not here. Butterfree got a mate and left the group to start his own family. Haunter and Primeape were both training in other places. And his Friend Pidgeot was watching over a flock to make sure they were strong enough to fend off other predators.

Then Bulbasaur saw a huge orange figure standing on the hill watching over the other pokemon. He smiled oh yeah how could he forgot the powerhouse of the team. Charizard certainly has come a long way from being a little and shy Charmander. Sure when Charmander first evolved into chameleon he was an ass and when he evolved later into Charizard he became an even greater pain in the but. But the trip to the Orange Islands was certainly a blessing in disguise. That journey sure changed him well that fight with that Poliwrath changed him. After getting his ass kicked by a water pokemon no less he started to listen to ash. He smirked Pikachu told him all about it apparently Ash healed Charizard and rubbed him with a blanket throughout the whole night to make sure he didn't freeze to death. After that, The lizard attitude totally changed hehe he knew that lizard was a softy underneath all that pride.

Then suddenly all the old pokemon heard a familiar noise.

"PIDGEOTTTT!"

All the pokemon saw a majestic Pidgeot coming for a landing. The new pokemon were confused, but the older ones new who this Pidgeot was and they all smiled and ran at the place she landed. Well except Charizard he was too embarrassed to show himself to her old teammate. He was still scared of her after he evolved he became a huge prick to the team Pidgeotto was the only one on the team who wouldn't take his crap and still kicked his ass.

Sure when he evolved into Charizard she was no match for him anymore, but she still scared him a lot and now that she was a Pidgeot she could probably kick his ass from here to Sinnoh. Oh, Arceus please show pity on my soul Charizard thought scared. He kept himself out of view trying to hide behind the big behemoth Snorlax who was still sleeping.

Pidgeot landed and she saw her family coming towards her with smiles on their faces. She saw 2 new pokemon too one was sleeping and the other was curiously looking at her. A Snorlax and a Lapras huh she thought. That Lapras looked young and so cute. She saw all her other friends too. But where was that stupid lizard?

Ash jumped from his Pidgeot "hey guy looks like everybody is here." Then he looked at his new pokemon hey "Lapras Snorlax I want to introduce you to an old friend."

Lapras swam closer to Ash and Snorlax began to wake up. He stood up and went to say hello. Though unintentionally Snorlax let Charizard coming into view who was still trying to hide. Oh shit no I'm not ready yet to face my punishment. He was trying to slowly walk away in another area of Ranch but too bad for him his trainer saw him.

"Oh, Charizard buddy what are you doing there come over here."

Pidgeot looked at the place where she heard her trainer said that lizard's name and she smirked. Damm his trainer and his big mouth thought Charizard and he slowly turned around and looked at the bird. The look she gave him was terrifying he gulped oh well better now than never he thought. And Charizard began to walk slowly to the group direction.

"Okay everyone for the old members I don't have to introduce her but for Snorlax and Lapras I do. This is Pidgeot she one of the first pokemon I caught she decided to rejoin us in our next journey."

The 2 new pokemon smiled and said there hello's. The old pokemon were happy that their old friend would rejoin them and they all smiled. Except for Charizard, he was nervous and tried not to look in Pidgeot's direction. The bird saw this smirked well well looks like little lizard changed after all.

"Now," said Ash "I have two other old pokemon with me who wanted to rejoin us."

The gang looked up 2 other old members they thought who could they be?

"I'm afraid Butterfree is impossible to find since he started a family somewhere in the world," he said sadly.

The pokemon who knew Butterfree looked sad maybe someday they could meet their friend again.

"But these guys are rejoining us." Ash threw 2 Pokeballs in the air and said come on out. Two red light's appeared from the two Pokeballs and 2 forms began to take shape.

The first form was a monkey with a pig snout and had white hair all around his body. The second form was a purple creature and had two floating hands. "PRIMEAPE PRIME" the monkey pokemon yelled. "HAUNT HAUNT," the purple creature screamed. Everybody who knew those pokemon cheered and welcomed them back in the family.

Ash began to speak "guys you can catch up later but for now, I have an announcement to make," he said seriously.

The pokemon were confused and shocked, they never saw their trainer so seriously before this must be a big deal what could it be?

"Not long after we came back from our journey from the Orange Islands I had a battle with my rival Gary."

Gary that jackass thought some of older pokemon.

"He had a powerful Eevee and Pikachu lost because of my incompetence," he said sadly.

The other pokemon looked shocked not because of Pikachu's loss but because their trainer thought it was his fault. They were ready to protest but Ash holds out his hand to stop them.

"Enough guys what I said is the truth throughout our journey I only fought with my instincts and guts. Sometimes I even go too cocky and I deeply underestimated my ability. Like that time I challenged that elite four member when we were in the Orange Islands."

Charizard shivered ah that freaking Slowbro that was not one of my greater moments he thought.

"My knowledge of pokemon and their strength and weakness or their ability is also seriously bad," he said sadly.

The pokemon didn't know what to say for them he was the perfect trainer kind, loyal, playful, and the most important thing he all loved his pokemon. Seeing their trainer so sad broke their hearts and they wished there was something they could do.

"But," said Ash he looked up and stared at their pokemon with a burning determination in his eyes. While holding his arm in front of him and making a fist of his hand.

Charizard smirked heh he like that look in his trainer's eyes.

"I WILL NOT GIVE UP," he said loudly. "WE WILL GO ON A TRAINING JOURNEY TOGETHER AND WE WILL FIGHT IN THE JOTHO LEAGUE AND WE WILL WIN IT ALL!"

The pokemon cheered "HELL YEAH LETS KICK SOME BUTS" screamed Squirtle. Even Snorlax cheered "LET ME GOBBLE THEM UP" he roared. The other's sweatdropped at the giant pokemon's words.

"We have 10 months to train after that we have 2 months to get 8 gym badges he smirked with Pidgeot's speed that would be no trouble at all."

Pidgeot smirked hell yeah she was the queen of speed. Then Ash looked at his most powerful member.

"Charizard I need your power buddy are you ready to show the world what you got."

Charizard smirked and nodded and he let out a huge roar. "GROOOAAAAAW." Huge winds blew around the ranch.

Ash smirked, "okay buddy that's enough save it for our opponents." Charizard stopped and nodded. But he was still smirking all the way heh he couldn't wait to kick ass in the tournament. Pidgeot was surprised as well I be that lizard finally listens to Ash well took him long enough she smiled.

"Okay guys I'm gonna go home and get something to eat I see you all tomorrow" he waved. And Ash ran with his friend Pikachu toward his home hoping to get a great homecooked meal from his mother. But what ash didn't know at home their was an even bigger challenge to overcome before he could leave on his journey his mother.
