The Solitude of A Queen
Chapter 1: The Man named Zero
Flashback...
A ten year old boy and a nine year old girl sat down on a lake watching as the sun was setting down in front of them.
Their names were Lelouch and Naomi.
Lelouch was a boy with black hair and purple eyes. He wore a white shirt with grey trousers and black shoes.
Naomi was a girl with short chestnut brown short, fair skin and deep blue eyes. She wore a bubble-gum pink hakama while the skirt was royal purple with pink sakura flowers decorating the bottom left portion. She also wore a pair of black combat boots on her feet and a big pink bow holding her hair back.
"Naomi, what do you wish for?"Lelouch asked.
"I wish to always be with you, Nunnally and Suzaku."Naomi admitted and looked at the view in front of her with a sad smile. "But I just wish the world we lived in was more peaceful than it is now."
"Me too."Lelouch agreed with a nod. "And I want to make sure the world is also a better place, where Nunnally will be happy."
Naomi smiled at Lelouch before giving a kiss on his cheek.
Lelouch blushed a bit at Naomi's action.
"N-Naomi?"Lelouch stuttered.
"Then I'll make sure to help you out then."Naomi giggled. "Alright?"
"Alright."Lelouch responded with a smile. "Thank you."
7 Years Later…
A teenage girl sat down watching the news on the TV in a ryokan room.
Naomi was now a seventeen-year-old girl and a student attending Ashford Academy.
Her wavy brown chestnut hair were tied into high pigtails. A wavy lock of her hair falls over each side of the face while the bangs covered her forehead. She wore a light yellow jacket with gold trims and black cuffs with a white long sleeved shirt underneath and around her neck was a dark green tie with the Ashford logo on it. The shoes she wore were black shoes with white knee socks with it.
The channel on the TV showed Suzaku being held as a prisoner and there were loads of civilians waiting for him to be executed.
"Any moment. Any moment now. It's a sight to see."the TV Announcer declared. "The throngs' lining the route. All of them waiting on bated breath. Waiting for the accused murderer of Prince Clovis to pass by. An honorary Britanian and a former Eleven Suzaku Kururugi."
"It's not true, isn't Naomi?"Kaguya asked with a worried look. "Suzaku didn't kill Prince Clovis, right?"
The older girl turned around and saw her cousin, Kaguya, standing at the door.
Kaguya Sumeragi was a fourteen-year-old girl with black hair and green eyes. Her hair was kept in two ponytails and she wore a pink-ish blouse that had detached sleeves along with a red miniskirt.
"Of course not, imouto. Suzaku wouldn't do such a thing."Naomi responded as she brought her attention away from the TV and looked down in thought. "Although, it is not a lie that Suzaku wouldn't kill someone."
Naomi looked at Kaguya.
"So what did Kyoto think of my idea to start manufacturing Knightmare frames?"Naomi asked.
"Well, Lord Kirihara agreed with your idea."Kaguya replied. "But as for the rest…"
"They refused."Naomi scoffed with a sad frown. "They think I am trying to make us more and more like Britannia. I am not Britannian. I am Japanese. I am the daughter of your father's sister. Yet, they don't trust me because of the half blood that I carry in my veins. I'm an outcast."
Kaguya gives Naomi a hug from behind.
"Don't be silly, Naomi."Kaguya giggled. "I still see you as my ane."
"Thanks, Kaguya."Naomi thanked. "That means a lot."
Suddenly the TV screen showed a vehicle which appeared to Prince Clovis' car heading towards where the Purebloods and Suzaku were.
Then the Britannian flag on the car suddenly burned away to reveal a masked figure above the car.
"I am Zero!"
Naomi blinked.
"Zero as in nothing?"Naomi murmured.
"I don't know, but his cute!"Kaguya cooed as she came closer to the TV.
Naomi sweat dropped at Kaguya's sudden admiration at the mystery man that just appeared before focusing back on the TV.
"Who is this person?"the TV Announcer questioned. "This man calling himself Zero, standing before a full military convoy."
Zero snapped his fingers and reveals a container and the civilians in the area started to panic since they it contained poison gas.
"Is he going to sacrifice the civilians?"Kaguya asked with a hint of concern.
Naomi shook her head.
"No, Kaguya."Naomi replied. "It doesn't seem that he is planning to."
"Fine, what are your demands?"Jeremiah questioned.
"An exchange."Zero answered. "This, for Kururugi."
Kaguya's face brightened up at Zero's answer.
"He wants to save Suzaku!"Kaguya remarked.
Naomi didn't say anything as she focused on the event that was happening on television screen.
It was surprising that Zero was calm even though he was surrounded by Sutherlands that pointed their guns at him.
"Like hell!"Jeremiah shouted. "He's charged with high treason for murdering a prince! I can't hand him over!"
"No. You're mistaken, Jeremiah. He's no murderer."Zero declared and looked directly at the screen. "The man who killed Clovis was myself!"
The civilians murmured at Zero's declaration as a surprised expression grew on Naomi's face.
"So, he's the one who killed Prince Clovis."Naomi mumbled quietly.
"What? What does this mean?"the TV Announcer questioned. "This masked man called Zero! No, we can't be sure who he is! but in any case, he claims to be the real assassin? So where does this leave the current suspect, Private Kururugi?"
"For a single Eleven, you'll save scores of precious Britannians."Zero commented. "I find that to be a bargain."
"His so amazing."Kaguya murmured with her sparkling eyes and munching on a cookie.
"He called us, Elevens."Naomi scoffed. "We are Japanese."
"He is mad, I tell you!"Jeremiah shouted. "Disguising this truck as His Highness'! He'll pay the price for mocking the crown!"
However, the unexpected thing that happened next was Jeremiah demanding Suzaku to be released and let Zero escape.
"Hand him over!"Jeremiah demanded. "Nobody gets in his way!"
The guards weakly tried to stop Zero and his companions from escaping, so the masked man released the gas inside of the container as a diversion.
Zero and the others run to the side of the road and jump off, where another vehicle was waiting for them.
Fortunately, Jeremiah held all the guards back and ensured their safety.
The TV screen then switched to another channel, obviously the television network didn't want to attract more attention to the viewers at home.
Kaguya let out a fan squeal causing Naomi to become startled a bit.
"He saved Suzaku!"Kaguya squealed in delight. "That was amazing!"
"Yeah, I guess it was."Naomi said with a surprised expression. "I never expected that Jeremiah would let them go."
Naomi then helped Kaguya put on her pyjamas and get ready for bed.
The two cousins slept on a futon with pink and white covered and a cylindrical orange pillow. The covers had a white sheet decorated with maple leaves.
"Hey, Naomi?"Kaguya spoke up.
"Yeah?"Naomi said.
"Do you think Zero could be it?"Kaguya asked. "The hope that Japan has been waiting for?"
Naomi smiled. "What do you think?"
"I think he is."Kaguya yawned with a tired smile.
Kaguya closed her eyes and fell asleep.
"Goodnight, Kaguya."Naomi replied.
Naomi kissed Kaguya's forehead before glancing at the small photo of her when she was a six year old girl with her parents; Istvan and Miyu Birkin.
Istvan was a handsome man in his early 30s with dark brown hair, fair skin and bright grey eyes. He wore a black tuxedo with white shoes.
Miyu was a woman in her late 20s with night black hair that went up to her shoulders, deep blue eyes and pale skin. She wore a stylish dark pink kimono with white socks and sandals.
"Keep fighting for what's right, Naomi. Never give up."
That was her parents' last advice to her before there were killed.
The brunette touched her chest and felt her heart beating slowly as she closed her eyes.
Despite the doubts she was having, Naomi felt that Kaguya was telling the truth.
Could Zero be the hope everyone was waiting for?
"Zero the saviour of Japan."Naomi thought and slowly closed her eyes. "I hope he will be the saviour of the whole world."
Naomi shut her eyes and eventually fell asleep.
