"Bella, I have to pee." Angela says softly from the backseat.
We've all faced the wrath of Alice when we woke up early to get back on the road. She's trying to take full advantage of the few days she'll be able to sleep in before she'll be pulling morning shifts at the diner. There's a nest of blankets in the backseat, and she's underneath there somewhere, snoring away.
"Really, Rabbit?" Bella huffs.
Angela just giggles. "Nah, I'm just playing."
A small smile plays on my lips because I know they're annoying Bella, but she's enjoying the experience all the same.
"Good." Bella smirks, adjusting the rear-view mirror so she can see Ang. "Because I'm ready to pull over and duct tape your mouth shut."
"You wouldn't."
I reach into the console and grab the roll of tape Bella ran out and got before we left the hotel this morning so she could threaten them. I hold it up, and Angela's eyes widen in surprise.
"I wouldn't, but the look on your face right now was worth the four bucks." My vampire cackles. "I wouldn't duct tape your mouth shut, but I briefly considered doing it to Ali if she made us sit through another repeat rendition of 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious'."
"There's a reason she always gets stuck working behind the scenes on school musicals. Mrs. Cope doesn't want to hurt her feelings, so she puts her in charge of tech."
"Stop being a bitch, Ang," Alice grumbles under her mountain of blankets.
"Language," I scold.
"Sure, sure, sure. I'm going back to sleep so try to keep it down."
The blankets rustle, and it isn't long before she's snoring again.
"Are you excited to see your grandparents again, Rabbit?" Bella asks, and Angela nods.
"Yeah. I'm glad I took the summer off from tutoring. The money is good and all, but I'd like to get a jump start on my college applications."
She was originally planning on applying for scholarships, but Bella told her not to worry about them. She'll be paying for Angela's secondary education and would rather the scholarships go to people who actually need them. I hate the idea of her spending so much money, but even I had to admit that she made a point.
