Car shopping with a vampire with unlimited resources is more difficult than I originally thought it would be.
The first lot we visit is full of high-end vehicles, and I want to puke at some of the price tags. I try to convince her that an Aston Martin isn't appropriate for a teenager, and she nods, agreeing with me for once. The second dealership isn't any better.
"You aren't buying them Teslas."
Bella rolls her eyes. "I have the money, and I want to spoil them. They're good kids and deserve it."
"I agreed you could buy them cars, but this is insane, Bella." I run a sweaty hand through my hair.
"Are you going to be jealous that their cars are fancier than yours? 'Cause I didn't get you a real present for your birthday, and I can buy you one too if you want me to."
I start coughing. "You bought me an eight thousand dollar watch," I remind her.
I started having heart palpitations when I looked it up after she specifically told me not to when she presented it to me. Curiosity got the best of me, and now it's sitting in the safe because I'm terrified of wearing the blasted thing. We live in a nice town, but I don't want to get jumped or lose it somewhere.
"That's just pocket change."
Not wanting to argue with her, I talk her down, and we compromise with Volvos. They have a high safety rating and are relatively cheaper than the BMWs she tried talking me into. I still ignore the prices the sales agent is spewing out as we walk around the showroom floor. I ignore the extra accessories Bella buys when she orders everything they offer and the extra money she's paying to have them ready on such short notice.
I'm not paying attention when she hands over a shiny black card, stopping the guy and turning to me. "Are you sure you don't want one?"
"I can't tell you how much I really don't."
She huffs and signs the paperwork presented to her.
I honestly don't want to know how much money she just spent.
I hope I never find out.
"See, that wasn't so bad." Bella practically dances out of the building when we're finished.
"Pshh. For you."
"Oh, stop it." She grabs my hand. "The girls are spending the night at friends' houses tonight. You'll get your reward for not giving me a hard time today."
