One week had passed since the events in Morioh that led to the demise of the last fragments of Dio's legacy. The sun rose over Honnouji Academy, shining through the front windows of Satsuki Kiryuin's personal quarters. She began the morning the way she had most days for years now, seated in front of the windows overlooking the school courtyard. In one hand was a copy of the daily newspaper and in the other a cup of tea.
Stood behind Satsuki was her butler Matsuzo Soroi, an old family servant who Satsuki admired and trusted greatly. Unlike most days, Satsuki had a smile on her face as she looked out over the city in front of her. It was only a small smile, but it was more emotion than she typically showed. This morning, Satsuki felt a great sense of calm inside her.
"Anything interesting in the news this morning, Lady Satsuki?" Soroi asked.
Satsuki looked up from the newspaper to address her butler. "REVOCS is still experiencing a significant drop in stocks."
"Hmm, yes. Well, I suppose that's what happens when your CEO vanishes." Soroi remarked.
"Yes… That will be a headache for the board of executives to sort out. I won't meddle with it." Satsuki shook her head and sipped at her tea. "I have no interest in going into the sort of business that Ragyo was involved in."
As Satsuki turned the page of the newspaper, she heard the sound of the private elevator leading to her quarters opening up. Very few people had clearance to go up to her room so Satsuki was curious as to who it was. She set down her teacup on the table beside her chair and folded up her newspaper.
Standing up from her chair, she saw the elevator door opening up and out from it came Nonon Jakuzure. "Hello Satsuki, sorry if this is a bad time."
"Not at all, Nonon." Satsuki walked towards Nonon, closing the distance between them. "It's a pleasant surprise to see you this morning."
"Well I figured I'd come up and see you this morning. Me and the rest of the Elite Four decided to go have a day out in Morioh. Figured I'd invite you too."
"Coincidentally enough, I already have prior obligations in Morioh." Satsuki remarked. "Ryuko and Mako invited me out and I already said I'd meet up with them."
"Well who knows maybe we'll cross paths."
"Yes, that would be nice."
After pausing for a moment, Jakuzure spoke up again. "If I could change the subject, I have a question to ask."
"Of course, speak your mind." Satsuki nodded and turned around, walking back to the window. "What do you want to ask?"
"Well… It's about Honnouji Academy. It's been such a large part of our lives for years now. What are we going to do?" Jakuzure asked.
"I thought about that as well." Satsuki said. "Part of me wants to tear it down. Sink it to the bottom of the bay… But I can't erase the past even if I try to. I could change this academy for the better. Create a system that benefits the students. Not to mention there are still plenty of Stand users amongst our student body that could have their powers used for good."
"Maybe we should discuss it as a group." Nonon suggested.
Satsuki looked back over her shoulder at Jakuzure. "Yes, I like that idea. Whatever the case, I just hope I can use the power I've had handed to me to improve this world."
"That's very admirable Lady Satsuki." Nonon smiled at Satsuki.
"Thank you. Feel free to stay for a while before you meet the others." Satsuki said.
"I'd be more than happy to make some tea for you, young madam." Soroi added.
Jakuzure nodded. "Thanks, I'd like that."
Ryuko woke up the same way she'd been waking up for the past several days. That being with Mako rocking her back and forth in an attempt to get her up.
"Hey sleepyhead, rise and shine!" Mako cheered while shaking Ryuko by the shoulder.
"Hmmm…" Ryuko sleepily mumbled. "Okay Mako, I'm up…"
Mako giggled and kissed Ryuko. "I'm glad you're awake. Mom made some breakfast."
"That sounds great, just gimme a minute to wake up and get dressed." Ryuko kissed Mako back on the lips as she sat up in bed.
"Okay, see you in a bit!" Mako cheered, turning around and leaving the bedroom.
Both Ryuko and Mako were getting used to their new relationship. Neither of them had ever been in a serious relationship before so all of this was brand new territory for them. So far not too much had changed about their relationship, other than them being a lot more physically affectionate. Mako was already incredibly close to Ryuko before they confessed their feelings for each other.
But whatever happened next in their relationship, Ryuko was all for it. She stretched out and took off her pajamas, making her way over to the closet to get into some proper clothes. Looking into the closet, she saw Depeche Mode hung up in there. "Hey there Depeche, did you have a good night?"
"About as well as I can." Depeche Mode remarked. "It's a bit dark here."
"I'll be sure to leave you out next time." Ryuko nodded as she began to put Depeche Mode on.
"Oh, you're wearing me out today?"
"Yeah. Why wouldn't I?"
"Well Ryuko, you're not going to be a schoolgirl forever. There has to be a time where a girl outgrows her sailor uniform."
Ryuko smiled and shook her head, hugging Depeche Mode close to her. "Hey, you're not just a piece of clothing. You're a part of me and I'm a part of you. We need each other."
"Ryuko… I… Thank you." Depeche Mode's sleeves moved to hug Ryuko back. "If I had tear ducts I'd be crying right now."
"See, you mean a lot to me. Now c'mon, I'm gonna put you on and we're gonna have some fun." Ryuko said. "Me and Mako are going out to meet Satsuki and Josuke." She went back to putting Depeche Mode on.
"That sounds great, I'm sure we'll all have fun." Depeche Mode said.
Once she had Depeche Mode on, Ryuko left the bedroom in the Speedwagon provided safehouse to go see what was for breakfast.
Mori~!
Mori~!
Mori~!
Mori~!
Morioh-cho Radio!
The jingle of Morioh's local radio station played inside the rental car of one Jotaro Kujo as he drove down the highway towards the town itself. It was a sound he'd grown accustomed to over the years after many visits to Morioh. Usually he enjoyed the music played on this station so he decided to turn up the volume.
"Good morning Morioh! This is Kai Harada with Morioh-cho Radio. I hope all you locals have been enjoying the tourism boost from those new rock formations. And if you're one of the tourists, I hope you enjoy your stay here. Now for a bit of music to start your day right."
As the music began, Jotaro glanced over his shoulder into the backseat of the car. Seated back there was Jotaro's daughter Jolyne. The two of them had always had a bit of a strained relationship to say the least. Jotaro desperately wanted Jolyne to not be involved with any of the Joestar family legacy so he intentionally distanced himself from her. Unfortunately, that didn't work out and after an incident where Jolyne was convicted on manslaughter charges, Jotaro had to explain a few things to his daughter.
After a series of incidents involving many enemy Stand users, Jolyne was able to be cleared of her charges and Jotaro resolved to try and be there for his daughter some more. After returning to America following his emergency trip to Morioh, Jotaro was able to convince Jolyne to come with him to meet some of his friends in Japan.
"Jolyne, how are you feeling?" Jotaro asked.
"Hmm? Oh, I'm alright dad." Jolyne looked away from the window and over to her father. "I'm just a bit nervous. Never been this far away from home."
"I understand." Jotaro nodded. "I'll do my best to help you feel comfortable. Have you been brushing up on your Japanese?"
"Kinda…" Jolyne nodded. "I can barely read it but that phrasebook you gave me is useful. I can probably have a casual conversation."
"That's good. Josuke speaks pretty good English so between the two of you I'm sure you can have a good conversation." Jotaro remarked.
"Oh yeah, Josuke… Y'know it's weird finding out I have a half great uncle that's younger than my dad." Jolyne remarked. "I wish you'd have introduced me to him when I was a kid."
Jotaro sighed a little. "There are a lot of things I wish I did differently, Jolyne. I hope I can start making things right with us."
Jolyne nodded and looked out the window again. After pausing for a moment she spoke up again. "I wish Ermes and Anasui were here."
"The terms of their parole don't let them leave the country. The Speedwagon Foundation did the best they could to get them out of prison after the incident last year." Jotaro said.
"Well, I guess I'll be sure to bring them back a souvenir." Jolyne remarked.
The rest of the car ride into Morioh was fairly quiet. Jolyne and Jotaro listened to the radio until they reached the spot that Josuke had told Jotaro to meet them at. The car was parked on the side of the street and Jotaro stepped out with Jolyne.
Across the street from them was Josuke. He was waiting right beside a large, strange looking rock near a playground. The rock oddly resembled a melting face. Like a small, poorly carved Easter Island Moai.
"Hey, Josuke!" Jotaro waved over to Josuke as he crossed the street.
Josuke noticed Jotaro and Jolyne, waving back to them. "Yo, Jotaro! Great to see you again. Especially unde much better circumstances than last time." He looked over to Jolyne as she and her father approached. "You must be Jolyne."
"Uh, yeah. Hi." Jolyne gave a small wave to Josuke. "And you're Josuke, right?"
"That's me." Josuke nodded. "It's great to finally meet you. Jotaro told me a lot about you."
"Heh, thanks." Jolyne smiled, somewhat awkwardly. "So, what's the plan now that we're all meeting up?"
"We're still waiting for some others actually." Josuke said.
"Right, those girls. I didn't get a chance to meet them too well." Jotaro remarked.
"Well they should be here any minute." Josuke leaned back against the strangely shaped rock. He looked down at his watch. "Well maybe not too soon. You know how teenagers are when it comes to timing."
"Hmm, I do." Jotaro glanced at Jolyne for a moment.
"Oh good grief dad, you barely knew me when I was a teenager." Jolyne crossed her arms. "But, uh, you're not wrong." She looked down at the ground, somewhat embarrassed.
After a few moments of waiting, Josuke noticed Mako and Ryuko approaching him from across the street. It was very easy to notice thanks to Mako's enthusiastic waving and shouting.
"Hi Josuke! It's us!" Mako held onto Ryuko's hand as she hurried across the street.
It was lucky that traffic in Morioh was almost non-existent that morning as Mako rushed across the street without bothering to check for any oncoming cars. Mako and Ryuko made it to the other side of the street unharmed.
"Hey, Josuke!" Ryuko smiled, reaching out to shake Josuke's hand.
"Ryuko, nice seeing you." Josuke shook Ryuko's hand. He glanced over to Jotaro and Jolyn "Jotaro, I'm sure you remember Ryuko and Mako."
"Yes, we did meet." Jotaro nodded. "Not for too long though."
"It's nice to meet you sir!" Mako enthusiastically reached out and shook Jotaro's hand.
"Thank you." Jotaro firmly shook Mako's hand. "This is my daughter Jolyne. She doesn't speak too much Japanese so forgive her if she's a bit shy."
"That's okay, I don't speak too much English but she looks really nice." Mako smiled, looking over at Jolyne. "Hi there! My name's Mako!"
"Um, hello." Jolyne waved to Mako. "I'm Jolyne. Nice to meet you."
Ryuko smiled at Jolyne and did her best to remember the moderate amount of English she knew. "I like your style, Jolyne. Your clothes, I mean."
"Huh? Oh, thanks." Jolyne smiled back at Ryuko. "I like your outfit too."
"It's just what I usually wear." Ryuko said.
"Don't be modest Ryuko, you look amazing." Depeche Mode spoke up.
"Whoa! Her clothes talk?" Jolyne stepped back in surprise, looking to Jotaro for an explanation.
"Oh yeah, she's a Stand user." Josuke casually said.
Jolyne could only chuckle. "Figures. Stands explain 90 percent of any weird shit going on in my life. I haven't meant too many talking Stands before."
"Well, I guess Depeche Mode is a unique Stand." Ryuko remarked.
"Guess so." Jolyne said.
Josuke put his arm around Jotaro and gave him a pat on the back. "So, now that we're all here, how about we go get something to eat? I know it's a bit early for lunch but we can get a light meal."
"Actually we're still waiting for someone." Ryuko spoke up.
"Huh?" Josuke took a moment to think. "Oh yeah, Satsuki. She's coming along too."
As if mentioning her had summoned her, a black limousine pulled up nearby. After coming to a stop the doors opened and out stepped Satsuki Kiryuin followed by her personal assistant Rei Hououmaru.
"So Lady Satsuki, is everything in order?" Rei asked as she escorted Satsuki out of the car.
"Yes Rei, thank you." Satsuki nodded back to her. "I'll be fine. If I need anything, I'll call you."
"Alright, you have fun with your friends." Rei got back into the car and soon drove off.
Satsuki stood on the curb somewhat awkwardly for a few moments before approaching the group gathered around the walk. "Hello everyone. Sorry if I'm late."
"We're just happy to see you here!" Mako cheered.
As much as Satsuki hated to admit it, she wasn't used to this much positivity being sent her way. Between her conversation with Nonon that morning and meeting all these people now, it was a bit overwhelming. But she just took a deep breath and continued. "It's good to see you. I haven't had a personal day like this in a long time."
"Well, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with us." Ryuko reached for Satsuki who held her hand somewhat comfortingly.
"Oh, I'm Satsuki Kiryuin by the way." Satsuki looked at Jolyne.
"Jolyne Cujoh, great to meet you." Jolyne introduced herself. "I'm Jotaro's daughter. This is my first time out of the States but I'm really liking it here so far."
"Well, you'll really like it once we go get lunch." Josuke said. "There's this place in town called Trussardi's, best Italian food I've ever had."
"Alright, I'm excited." Jolyne nodded. "Have you been to this place, dad?"
Jotaro nodded back to Jolyne. "It's good food."
The group began to make their way through town towards the restaurant with Josuke in the lead. Jotaro and Jolyne walked behind Josuke, making some small talk together. In the back of the group were Mako, Ryuko and Satsuki.
"I'm excited about this, aren't you?" Mako remarked. "I don't think I've had too much Italian food. Except maybe pizza."
"I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Italians know how to make some very good cuisine." Satsuki said.
"Well even if Josuke's overhyping the place it'll be nice to have a day out with both of you." Ryuko smiled, looking back and forth between Satsuki and Mako. She looked down at Depeche Mode. "You too, Depeche."
"Thank you." Depeche Mode said.
Satsuki took another deep breath as she walked. "I can't help but feel a bit anxious about all of this…"
"Why's that?" Mako asked. "It's a beautiful day, you're surrounded by friends. What's there to be anxious about?"
"Well for most of my life things have been planned out." Satsuki explained. "I've always known exactly what I wanted to do next. There has always been a next step. But with my mother… Dead… I'm just not sure. My future feels full of uncertainty. It's like a great silence has come over my world."
Ryuko nodded along as she listened to Satsuki. "I know what you're talking about. I've never had any idea what I wanted out of my life. I just went to boarding school 'cause it's what dad told me to. But y'know what, uncertainty is kinda freeing. You don't have to know what you wanna do. You've just gotta enjoy that uncertainty. That silence, like you said. Just enjoy it and see what comes your way next."
"Thank you, Ryuko." Satsuki said. "Whatever comes next, I do think better things are on the horizon for all of us."
The group continued down the road to Trussardi's Italian Restaurant. It was just another day in Morioh. Right now there were no other enemy Stand users to worry about. Even if the past several weeks had been full of violence and fear, Ryuko could rest assured that she wouldn't have to worry about anyone like Ragyo Kiryuin being a danger to her. Instead she could be comfortable that she had a girlfriend who loved her and a new sister who she was eager to get to know better. Not to mention plenty of new friends. Even if none of them knew what the future held for them, they were just thankful to experience their lives together.
A/N: With this epilogue, this is officially the end of this story. It wasn't perfect by any means but I greatly enjoyed writing it. I've go a few ideas for future projects but nothing concrete. But regardless, I hope you enjoyed this story dear reader. If you let me know what you think that would be greatly appreciated. But even if you don't, I'm still glad you read this story. I love Jojo and Kill La Kill a lot and would love to write for both these series more in the future.
