Broship
Author's Note: Something short for Febressuary 2022. This one is all about the broship between Ressler and Aram with a keenler twist.
Let me know what you think.
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Ressler opened his front door to discover Aram standing on the other side of it with a cake box.
"Aram?" He asked, surprised to see his friend at his house on a Wednesday evening at 8pm.
"I thought today deserved some cupcakes," Aram said with a smile.
Ressler stepped to the side and Aram came into his place. He shut the door behind his friend and gestured for him to come into the kitchen.
"So, how are you doing Ressler?" Aram asked as he put down the cupcakes and started to open the box.
"Aram, I'm…" Ressler started.
"Fine?" Aram interrupted. "Uh, you're anything but fine."
Ressler scoffed and shook his head. Today he had let those he worked with know that Liz and he were and had been involved and he hadn't done his job and taken her in like he was supposed to.
"You and Liz…" Aram started.
"Aram, I don't want to talk about…"
"You're finally…" Aram smiled at him. "I mean, you two finally…"
Ressler shook his head in the negative.
"You didn't?" Aram asked, confused.
"Aram…" Ressler started.
Aram looked at him confused.
"Keen and I…it's complicated," Ressler explained.
"Complicated by the fact that she nearly killed you?" Aram asked.
Ressler chuckled.
"No, we've been…complicated for months now," Ressler said candidly as he blushed slightly.
"Months? You and Liz?" Aram asked, surprised.
"What kind of cupcakes are these?" Ressler asked, avoiding the question as he leaned over the box and looked at the baked goods.
Aram looked at him carefully and decided that Ressler would only say what he wanted to say tonight.
"There's a buttercream, a double chocolate brownie, a peanut buster, and a lemon raspberry," Aram said. "They make the best cupcakes in DC and happened to be only two blocks from my apartment."
"Well, thanks," Ressler said as he picked up the double chocolate brownie cupcake and took a bite of it. "Want a coffee?"
Aram nodded and Ressler reached for the freshly made pot and poured them each a cup. Aram took the peanut buster one and they went and sat in his living room with their cupcakes and coffees.
They sat in silence for several minutes drinking their coffee and eating their cupcakes.
"After Samar…" Aram started, and Ressler sighed heavily but Aram continued on. "After Samar….you were there for me and I never told you how much I appreciated that. The pac man nights, the beers, the trivia nights at the pub…it was…helpful."
Ressler nodded and gave a soft smile.
"Liz hasn't…she's…honestly, I don't know what she is," Ressler chuckled.
"You've cared for her for a long time," Aram said.
Ressler took a deep breath and another bite of his cupcake.
"And she obviously cares for you," Aram said. "She can't stay away from…"
"It's…it's…not…" Ressler stammered. "I honestly don't know what we are."
Aram nodded.
"Maybe with time you will," Aram said.
"Time," Ressler chuckled.
"You and Liz still have time," Aram assured him. "Once this is all done…"
"You mean once my girlfriend kills Townsend and Reddington and is living as a fugitive?" Ressler asked with a raised eyebrow and a doubtful expression. "We'll work things out then?"
Aram smiled broadly.
"What? You think this is funny?" Ressler asked with a self-deprecating chuckle.
"You called Liz your girlfriend," Aram smirked at him.
"Oh, Jesus Christ," Ressler shook his head. "This why we need to just eat cupcakes."
Ressler rose from the sofa and went to get another cupcake.
The end.
