Gamer of a Dream

Prologue

I had died in one of the most epic ways imaginable. Fitting for an adrenaline junkie like me. My flight had to pass through some intense cyclone that appeared out of nowhere. I was the pilot flying the plane and was alone since it had been a private jet scheduled to pick-up some rich douche. I knew the second that I saw the storm that my only option was to ditch the plane.

After I set the plane to crash into the ocean I jumped right through the darkened sky with my 'chute. My unfortunate luck seemed to catch up to me eventually as I was struck by a stray lightning bolt. A flash went by and I was no more. It was fine, I had died content with the life I led with no regrets. Originally I had been training to get into the air force but my parents forced me into a less "risky" job. At least the time I had in the academy was thrilling.

What I wasn't prepared for was floating in a void with a single screen in front of me.

Welcome Void Walker. You have been selected to receive a rare opportunity to be reincarnated into another world. I am your guide, you may know me as The Gamer System, but I insist you call me Alice.

Interesting. Fiction has always caught my eye. Many times I had contemplated being reborn into another realm. I hoped it was a, ahh, what's the word for it… AH! A shonen, I believe.

Indeed. You are being reincarnated into the World of Dragon of Dragons, otherwise acronymed as DxD.

I couldn't help but smirk. The anime with the potential to be one of the best mainstream anime ruined by its excessive pornography.

Very well. Guide me through this System, Alice.

Ho, a smart one ain't you. I like you already. Many a Gamer before you skip the tutorial only to realize the twist later. Very fun to observe their reactions, but at least you're a smart one. This is not a normal Gamer System. This Gamer System has no stats, no ID, no inventory, almost zilch, nada. At least not in the traditional sense. You want to get powerful, work for it. You want a harem, work for it. This Gamer System is only a gauge, of sorts. What it does is facilitate smooth reincarnation and give rough estimates. Comparative estimates at best. But as a compensation, you will be given the choice of reincarnation, with the credit system.

This was exactly what I wanted. It wouldn't be satisfying to cheat my way to the top. It just wouldn't. I want to earn my achievements, and when I look back and see the road past, I want to say that I achieved it without hand-holding.

How very interesting. Every Gamer before you has moaned and lamented the loss of assets. I have a feeling we will get along just fine. Now onto the compensation, given below are your reincarnation options. You have 100 credits so choose wisely.

[Human](Free)*

[Angel](Free)*

[Fallen Angel](Free)*

[Devil](Free)*

[Dragon](50 Credits)*

[Yokai](Free)*

(More Options)

There was a massive list of creatures from all sorts of mythologies. I only really contemplated the first four. Dragon was something that matched my style since I was just as free-spirited and a no-fucks given attitude but I crossed it out since a lot of dragons simply were hunted down or turned to slaves. Hell many of the dragons labelled as "Evil" were honorable with only a few psychos. There was definitely some manipulation from other factions going on. Probably to weaken what would be the strongest faction, undoubtedly. Angel was out since I did not take orders from a ball of cartilage. Fallen angels seemed to align with my thoughts but using "tainted" light, a reminder of my previous boss was a no go. It was a no brainer to go for Devils.

Please select your Birth Background

[Low-Class Devil](Free)*

[High-Class Devil](30 Credits)*

[Satan Bloodline High-Class Devil](40 Credits)*

Without a second thought I chose Low-Class Devil.

How curious. No gamer before has ever chosen a low-class devil. Many choose Satan bloodline for their power, others High class because they want to stay under the radar so to speak. Never low-class. Please explain your thought process.

Simply put I don't give a damn about some high-class society bullshit who were spoon-fed and power was their "birthright". Besides, if Issei and Sairaorg(who was my favourite character) could rise, then so can I.

Their situations were different. One had a god-slaying weapon and was backed by arguably the second most powerful devil clan post-civil war. Sairaorg still carried the Bael name, his mother provided him the support of the Vapula clan which helped him get Regulus Nemea as his pawn. You on the other-hand have nothing. No sacred gear as you will be a born devil, no special clan trait, even the gamer system will not help you gain power.

I don't give a damn. I will prove that power can be earned without needing no inborn advantage. Fuck everyone that says otherwise!

Very bold. I like it. You're different from the rest. It was certainly a good decision to pick your soul from the insignificant number that can survive the void in the first place. Now onto other options.

Please pick a famili..

Skip.

Okay then, no familiar then. Alright onto the next option,

Please pick a Legendary Weapo..

Skip.

You are starting with nothing in a heavily nerfed Gamer System, with practically no advantages and no Credits spent. In an entirely new world. I don't understand your recklessness.

It's as you said. I want power, I will earn it. I want a Familiar, I will earn it. I want a legendary weapon, I will earn it. At the end I want to be satisfied with myself, and say that everything I achieved was by my efforts and nothing else.

Ahahahahahaha, a worthy answer indeed. But as the System demands, you are obligated to spend credits. This situation has been coded for but none have ever gotten it. Until now. You are the first to ever pick this path, therefore, you get an extremely limited skill that cannot be obtained in a normal playthrough.

Spent 100 Credits. Remaining 0.

Skill Obtained.

[The Power of a Dream]

Great Red is regarded as the strongest being in the DxD verse for a reason. The Dream surpasses all. Even the infinite can be surpassed in a dream after all.

"All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake up in the day to find it was vanity, but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible." A quote of a famous man.

You are one of those men. You have the potential to be anything, limited by only imagination. Not even devil magic can replicate your feats. But they have to be earned. Follow your dreams and see where they lead you.

That is certainly interesting. Perfectly suited for someone like me. I didn't want to be limited. I would achieve what I set out for and then some.

An era has already been chosen for you to maximize your potential. I shall obviously accompany you as your guide. But before that you have two spins for the wheel of perks. These cannot be avoided, who knows, maybe you'll get something to rewire that horrible luck of yours.

I paused. I really needed something so my luck would not screw me over like it had so many times in my life. Alright Alice, spin the wheel.

*Spinning the roulette.*

Perk obtained.

[Fortune's Blindfold]

A perk that enhances an individual's good luck. Every 3 months this perk can be triggered so as to ensure the best possible outcome of an upcoming event. So long as there is even a remote possibility of the best outcome happening, it will guide you through it. Some possibilities are naturally impossible so these cannot be obtained through this perk.

Naturally I rigged it to give you this perk. Now onto the other.

*Spinning the Roulette*

Perk Obtained.

[Unnatural Build]

A perk that forgoes any need for rest, food, water and other essentials for life. Your body is differently built. Able to withstand far more punishment than any other and still perform at maximum efficiency. You heal mana far faster than any being. Your growth rate is unnatural. Your mind is unnatural. Immune to all mind magic and able to focus, hyper-focus, multi-focus. You recall even the most seemingly asinine details in a fraction of a second. Able to join points when the lines don't even exist. Unnatural does not even begin to describe who you are.

A very good perk. Well suited for someone like you.

Now onto the reincarnation. Beginning in 3,2,1…

Before I could even think of another word, I was sucked into a massive vortex.

I opened my eyes to see a giant holding what I assumed to be my body. It was female. She had long platinum-blonde hair with the most beautiful aquamarine eyes I had ever seen. She had a small white flower as a makeshift hair clip and wore a worn-out white dress torn in half.

She smiled seeing my eyes, and softly cooed "My beautiful boy, my beautiful Sol Black."

And thus began my journey.

Author's Note:

No promises on completion but I wanted to do a gamer fic with more spice and not the usual grind, overlevel and one-shot. Also I hate numbers. Hence the comparative gamer system that will be explained later. Do not PM me as my inbox is filled with garbage and I have like 100 unread spam messages that I have no idea how to get rid of. It grates on my nerves and I have no idea how it happened. My luck is trash. Anyways, enough ranting.

Please Review as they always help out.
