AN: Took longer than I anticipated but work has been intense... But hey, a chapter!

Chapter 8: Dragon Age Winter 2 (still wintering)

Today was a truly nice day, the best day to spend outside in the sun that not only brought unexpected warmth but also made the snow glitter in a truly beautiful sight. Normally I would consider myself either stupid or truly despaired to spend this day doing paperwork but then… this was not really my paperwork, is it. As it stands, this day was good enough for rifling through the papers of the Lord Seeker.

After all, it was time to look into the Rite of Tranquility. I might not be the epitome of heroics and a 'good guy' really, but mostly-forced lobotomy of magic people? Horrifying. A truly horrifying practice that needs to end. And not just because reversing it would grant me a good number of new magic troops, but truly because something must be done. I feel a moral obligation, go figure.

Ok, it's also a quest, but I'm not lying about that moral thing.

Anyway, me and Haku went on our usual 'shopping' expeditions but this time to the fortress of the Seekers of Truth. The lame Dragon Age version, not the cool Sword of Truth/Legend of the Seeker version. Naturally first I took us to Caer Oswin, the fortress that appeared in the third game, the only one I knew belonged to the Seekers for sure. Not surprisingly though, Caer Oswin is not the main base of the order. It still contained good information, books and documents, but I'm really looking for the ledger of the Lord Seekers, the true history of the order, the book that made one of my favorite characters in DA Inquisition, Cassandra, almost shatter from the truths contained within.

The search brought me to a different fortress, one quite close to the capital of Orlais. The Lord Seeker is actually in residence but too busy sparring with his men in the courtyard - that gives me a nice opportunity to sniff around while Haku keeps watch. Don't want any servant accidentally stumble upon me, let alone a Seeker. I'm sure my Mind Mage Skills could turn them away easily but I am a little concerned about the anti-magic abilities of the order. Truly, they are far better than the average templar and each has a unique Perk. Some active, like Cassandra surely has, but most passive. And most those Perks revolve around magic resistance and perception or sensitivity of magic. Better not risk doing too much of it around here. It is imperative the Seekers, the most feared part of the Chantry, do not catch a whiff of me.

Still, it was really interesting to look at their Stats, and the Perks have not occurred to me even though they really should've. But I wasn't here to look at Stats, I was here to look at documents.

"Fia-sama" Haku calls softly from his search quadrant of the room, "I have found very interesting things about lyrium delivery. It might help us to keep our own supplies."

"Copy it down" I hum absently, peering into yet another secret compartment of the Lord Seeker's desk, paranoid buggers, "Good job, lyrium is a handy substance, not just for mages but for my enchanting."

"A fascinating substance indeed, the mystery around it as well"

I nod "The games never really explained all too much about it, but alluded to a lot. Especially in the Descent DLC, nothing definite though. AHA!"

"You found the records, Fia-sama?" the Mist nin asks brightly.

"I think so" I can't help but grin and immediately open the book, "Yes, I think this is it. Please continue your search, take my part of the room too. I need to read this. Such I shame I don't have a photocopier or something like that."

"Perhaps the next gacha pull" Haku chuckled.

I laughed right back "That would be pretty funny. Not a reward one would consider 'cool', at least just up to a moment such as this. It would be tricky to power it though, my Skills derived from lightening are… destructive, to say the least. Thoughts for the future. Now I must read."

The ninja simply nods and returns to his own reading. There is a lot to do here, hopefully the Lord Seeker will stay outside to enjoy the nice weather for a while longer.

Despite having a clear goal to achieve with this book I still enjoyed reading the other bits too, the history of the Seekers' order. It actually started with the split of the Inquisition of old into the templar order and the Seekers, each taking half of the original emblem. All of it was most interesting stuff.

In the end I have learned quite a lot, even some lore that I'm sure the games lacked. And the main thing, I did learn just how exactly the Seekers work Tranquility-wise, even above what I remember Cassandra explaining in the game. Her version was short and abstract, I mean holding a year-long 'vigil' until you Tranquil yourself and then getting a spirit of faith touch you? Cool, but now I actually know how it works. The whole process behind it, even how to make someone Tranquil without them even knowing, just like all Seekers have been.

All this is excellent news, actually better than I thought. My augurs can summon spirits after all and they are key for the Seekers' method. It will also be much quicker done by an augur - not only they're used to spirits in general, but they actually are on good terms with. Completely different than this being then done by a faithful Andrastian. Much of their steps could be actually skipped. I think so at least, experimentation is in order. Also, after I see the reversal with my own eyes, and [Observe] it, I might even come up with something better. Something that I can do entirely on my own.

There is also the factor that some tranquil have been made so by their own choice, they feared they were weak of will or the pull of demons was unusually strong in them. I don't want any abominations spawning among my people. And not just for the obvious reasons, it would also validate much of the fear of unregulated mages the Fereldans have. The fact my mages are of perfectly sound mind has been an excellent argument, especially when talking with the lords that have very tentatively allied themselves with us to fight against the Blight and Loghain.

One step at a time though, let's first see if this whole reversion of the Rite of Tranquility actually works for me.

"How are you doing Haku?" I ask, taking out a notebook from my Inventory - I'm sure I remember everything but better to jut some notes all the same. I seem to have the time.

"I have found much of interest but nothing that needs action right this moment" the ninja reported, "I have copied what I deemed important."

"Excellent" I smile at the man, "And how much is left by your estimate?"

"Not much. And I don't think we will need to return for a second trip"

"The Lord Seeker is still in the yard so we don't need to rush"

"Indeed, Fia-sama"

True to our estimate, Lord Seeker Arrin continued his drills while we picked his office clean. Not that we actually took anything, we left all the papers and ledgers and files right where we found them, but the information they contained is ours now.

And with that goal achieved, I took Haku back right to Ostagar, my office to be exact so that we can go over the info together. The weather was still excellent and this time I did feel a bit sad about being indoors now but I was also equally excited about what we found. Then again, Haku has a knack about sharing information, conveying everything in a most efficient and informative way, so it didn't take that long.

A different notebook made an appearance and I jotted everything down as well, Haku's own notes being in a barely-legible shorthand. And it was really good info indeed, we learned a lot about the Chantry's dealings, even some internal Chantry politics. Mostly though we got info about all the Circles, both the mages there and the local templar garrison. Good stuff.

"And that is everything from me" Haku finishes, rifling through his papers to confirm.

I finish writing down a particularly juicy piece of information that could even be used to blackmail some nicely-placed Chantry people and then nod with a wide smile "Great job, Haku. Looks like the trip was well worth it. And that is even without the Tranquility thing."

"Have you found what you were looking for?" Haku asks with uncharacteristic eagerness.

"Oh yes" my smile widens, "I believe I'll ask you to kidnap a tranquil for me very soon indeed. Maybe even tomorrow."

Haku smiles back and select one sheet out of his pile "I am prepared, I wrote down a few candidates – the Seekers investigate the use of the Rite. These ones were made Tranquil recently and not all too willingly."

"Kirkwall?" I ask on a whim, knowing from DA2 that Knight-Commander Meredith has taken a particularly harsh stand against her mages.

"A few names" the Mist nin nods.

"I'll leave it up to you"

"Shall I go tomorrow then?"

I shake my head "I need to speak with some augurs first and make some preparations."

"I shall await your orders"

Nodding I lean back in my chair "I won't take long, it looks to me you are quite invested in this matter."

Haku hesitantly nods "The persecution of people for having powers is familiar to me, even though it is nothing like the Bloodline Purges back in Mist. I would give these people one more chance."

"A chance they will have" I confirm, "Tranquility does not sit well with me too. And I think they will be an excellent addition to the Alamarri."

"Those that are not true believers, there are more of those than I would have expected" Haku frowns, the expression foreign on his usual porcelain cheerfulness.

I shrug "We'll get them. Peer pressure is a powerful thing." Not to mention Mind Mage, not that I look forward to dealing with all of them personally – hopefully my people, and my influence trees, will manage on their own after I get the ball rolling.

Haku nods again "In that vein, just before we departed in the morning I have received word that three more of the Avvar tribes back in the Forstbacks have declared themselves Alamarri. I was planning to go there and find out why precisely. I don't believe Orlais has sent scouts yet but better to make sure. To see what the mood is around there would be valuable as well."

"Yes" I hum, "Very good idea. And if anything's amiss, tell me, I might want to take a peek as well."

"Hai, Fia-sama"

The lull in the conversation allowed me to hear a distant shouting coming from the open window – with me not really feeling the cold, and Haku being an ice user, it felt better to let the fresh air in, freezing as it was.

Haku noticed too, cocking his head to the side "Is that… Margit-san?"

I listen harder and then sigh "Bugger, it is. I think I better check."

Quickly I approach the window and then flash step out, barely noting Haku vaulting over the window behind me and running down the walls of my tower.

The commotion was indeed caused by Margit. And Karasuba. Mostly Karasuba if I were to be honest. Those two… Ever since I summoned the sekirei the two have been fighting. Karasuba needled the red-head and Margit responded to her, every single time. The ashen-haired alien took great pleasure in getting that reaction, breaking Margit's now famed composure. All the more so when Haku only responded to her barbed comments with a small, almost condescending, smile and left. And I am her ashikabi, Karasuba respecting the title somewhat. With us two out of the 'game', and Margit being on hair trigger around her, cemented the red-head as the main target for Karasuba's comments.

Actually, now that I think about it, I'm surprised that Karasuba doesn't infuriate a lot more people with her comments. Guess she considers the 'normal population' of my kingdom beneath her notice since they can't hold up in a fight against her. Well, better than the alternative. I worked hard to get population, I won't have it culled because of Karasuba's need to fight.

The sekirei's attitude and scathing comments aside, I also expected more apprehension caused by her very presence. Like Haku. Rila is still suspicious of him, despite me vouching for him and Haku being an absolute darling. Karasuba though, Karasuba got somehow ignored. Or more like people are either scared shitless of her, the murderous aura really helps in that regard, or worship me enough to take her as part of the package. My officers are mostly in the second category. And, amusingly enough, Rila thinks her undisciplined but she mostly likes her. Guess Karasuba jives with their warrior culture. And poor gentlemanly and polite Haku does not. It also does not help he serves as my spy, the Avvar think all spies honorless. Ok, Haku is a ninja so fair enough…

"Alright! That's enough!" I address the two Servants brawling in the yard, a veritable crowd gathering to watch.

"Awwww" said crowd collectively pouted. Phe, like they could even see the fight, the two going at inhuman speeds.

"What happened to training our troops?" I disregard the crowd, my eyes fixed on the two women.

Karasuba elegantly leaps to her feet, dusting her short cloak in an aloof manner "I kicked their asses and sent them to the healers."

"I had to stop her from maiming them!" Margit promptly tattles, face as red as her hair from rage.

"You interrupted a valuable lesson on dodging" the sekirei smirks.

"You don't maim, or kill, people in a spar! Especially not if it is meant to train!"

"I came to spar with you, not my fault you pussied out"

"I had a duty to perform!"

"And I graciously helped out by entering the spars"

Margit growled, every Hound-like, and took a decisive step towards Karasuba, "You…"

"LADIES!" I raise my voice, finally getting their attention, "With me, please. And you people, disperse, I'm sure you have something to do."

"Awww"

I share a look with Haku and roll my eyes, his own crinckling with mirth.

"This is your fault" Margit mumbles to the ashen-haired sekirei.

"Ladies please, you aren't nine" I sigh.

Karasuba grinned tauntingly towards Margit who growled subvocally back. Yep, seems I have acquired a pair of small children for Servants. And they squabbled like siblings. It was cute at first, now it's more tiring than anything else. And I can't really send them to their room as punishment, can I.

I sigh again "How about a deal – Karasuba, we have perfectly good dungeons to fight enemies in. To the death even. Leave my warriors be and just come to me."

"You're busy" the sekirei shrugs, "And Margit can keep up with me. When I hold back a little that is."

"You…"

"Ladies" I have to admonish, yet again.

"Apologies, my Lady. She just infuriates me"

"Sorry, ashikabi-san" Karasuba chimes in to my surprise, "Dungeons sound good. How about now?"

Ah, there it is.

"Actually…" Margit exhales loudly, shooting yet another glare to her colleague, "That might be good. Getting Karasuba out of the circulation I mean."

Karasuba smiles predatorily "Can't stand me showing you up, huh? Did you hear those trash warriors talking about me being 'blessed'? I'm not exactly sure who has done said blessing, maybe even Sofia here, but I'm getting a legend of my own. The most superior warrior."

"The only thing superior about you is just how much of an ass you are"

"I do have a superior ass"

"That's not what I said!"

I share yet another look with Haku. Despite Karasuba finding her place among us, she is a bit high maintenance. And her quarrels with Margit get tedious, even in the short time she is here. My solution – dungeons. She already breezed through the zombie, goblin, forest and pirate with dismissive ease, I haven't even dared to bring her to that easy Minoan Maze. The Hero dungeon was finally where the fun was, Karasuba intrigued by the various powers. Still, in the end she found the heroes and the villains too weak. So, I guess it is time to try out what I call the Skyrim dungeon. This dungeon I got for my level 30 promotion and it is of a snowy mountain persuasion, lots of critters and more fantasy creatures like trolls and giants. So far I only entered once, by myself. I wanted to look around and get the feel for it. I was also escaping a bit of paperwork but nevermind that. The dungeon itself was interesting but not overly hard for a mage. Though if I were a melee character that might be a different story. Anyway, the main thing is that all the dungeons inhabitants I encountered during my short jaunt there had loads of HP and some great physical resistances. Their STR was also pretty epic but flying is so very much cheating – if they can't catch me, that STR can't really hurt me.

Still, Karasuba and Margit should have loads of fun here. And I could get some peace and quiet…

"Create Dungeon: Snowy Mountains!"

The usual shattering of reality happens and all four of us land on snow. Or more like, get buried knee deep into the snow. As I said, really difficult dungeon for melee.

"Ok, tomato-chan" Karasuba smirks and unsheathes her nodachi, excited her wish for a dungeon was granted, "Let's see who gets most kills. The loser kisses the winner's feet!"

The irate Margit opens her mouth to fire back a no doubt scathing reply but Karasuba is already gone, speeding over the snow toward some shadow in the distance which might even be an enemy. Poor sod.

"Cheater!" the red-head growls, takes out her tonfa and starts running after the sekirei. Evidently neither having any problem with the deep snow.

"They really do push each other's buttons" the ever calm Haku remarks from beside me, being the only Servant that didn't run off.

I sigh "It's mostly Karasuba loving to needle Margit. Really, my Hound should know better."

"Hopefully those two will calm down after letting out some steam here"

"That's the hope" I nod, "Anyway, shall we go?"

Haku gives me a half-bow "I shall go wherever Fia-sama wishes."

I smile at him and then point towards a very different direction than the one Margit and Karasuba chose "Thataway then, let the two have their fun."

"Indeed, let them decimate this mountain range in peace"

I snort, an aborted laugh.

Haku smiles and then uses his chakra to climb onto the snow and then walk just as he would on normal land. Myself I use [Flight], hovering a few inches over the white blanket. I think I'll keep to my light as a weapon, I don't really have anything I need to level so my default will works just fine.

Unlike the two female Servants, me and Haku don't speed anywhere, setting our pace in an easy jog. It still isn't long until we find our first opponents, a pack of wolves. Nothing like those I encountered in Ferelden or the Moonlit Forest Dungeon, no, these are huge with jaws that could easily snap a grown man in half.

Despite the wolves' size and ferocity, they fall without all too much trouble. It only takes a while due to their impressive health pool. Haku, despite being earth-bound, dances among the animals, letting not one touch him and dealing surprising damage in turn with his trusty needles. Myself I use my flying ability to keep out of the snow but I too mostly fight up-close, ish, with a spear made of light. Raining light on the wolves just wouldn't be fun and I aim to enjoy my first true foray into this dungeon.

Bears are our next opponents. Then wolves again and after it is a mammoth. And true to Skyrim's logic, where there is a mammoth, there is a giant. And yes, you can loot the cheese.

Rock trolls, cave trolls, ice elementals, all in all pretty fun. And then… And then. Then we encounter the wyverns. There are actually a lot of different depictions of wyverns in various books, games and movies, but these ones were straight up taken from Fire Emblem. Which naturally has brought fore one glorious, oh so glorious, idea.

"Fia-sama? You are… cackling. It is most disturbing" Haku remarks from beside me.

Taming my laughter takes a lot of effort but it is finally done. I clear my throat and point at the creatures flying up high.

"Yes?" the Mist-nin prompts, looking a bit worried I still didn't say anything, "From the knowledge granted to me by the summoning, I believe those are called wyverns. Draconids."

"Wyverns!"

"Quite so"

"Wyverns!" I exclaim again, now gesticulating wildly.

"Ye-es?"

I roll my eyes, finding myself a little irritated by his not understanding "I just need one soul sample out of them, it won't take a minute, and I can summon them. I can summon them and I can have a platoon of wyvern riders!"

I can see it now, put an archer on wyvern-back, train them a little, and I will have something no army in Thedas has ever had before – air support. And I have a lot of archers available. After all, every Avvar is a hunter and every hunter can handle a bow, or a spear. Some better and some worse, but all of them without exception. The Chasind are pretty much the same way too. Not to mention that as any stereotypical elves, Shianni's people also took quickly to the bow. Well, those that joined the army rather than deciding to settle somewhere and live in peace. Elven archers, really can't beat them. Plus their lighter body-type would suit the wyverns well… Enchant something for wind-resistance, maybe something for…

"Won't the wyverns disappear once you stop feeding them Mana or they run out of what you stored in them?"Haku interrupts my plans with logic.

That does silence me for a moment but then I just shrug "I'm sure I can craft something, probably an enchantment, that will function like a mana battery. Keep them summoned indefinitely by recharging it." Heh, a fuel station for little dragons, fun.

"That will take a lot of time and a lot of mana" the ninja nods, "A lot. And never forgetting to make more, no matter how much you store somewhere beforehand."

I shrug again "You can remind me. Besides, I think I can figure out something efficient. Actually, as soon as we're done in this dungeon I'm going to pop to Skyhold and get right on it.

With my mind made up, I easily snag the soul sample and then decimate the dungeon wyverns that decide to attack as soon as we come close enough. After that I trail behind Haku, letting him do the most of the fighting as my mind is already on my newest project.

Hmmm, which material I used so far that would conduct mana the best. And which could hold it indefinitely without much bleed-off. Perhaps…

"Oh right, Haku, would you be a dear and start looking into who we can spare for my new Wyvern Corps once we get back?" I shout to the fighting ninja.

"How many?"

"Ten or so. Then they can train others in turn"

"It shall be done"

"Thank you!"

Oh boy, I'll have to figure out the training plan too. And choose a suitable leader. At least coming up with their equipment will be fun. Amor, some cool goggles, saddle… What about storage space? I'll have to study a wyvern to see where I should…

A familiar festive chime interrupts my thoughts.

You have slayed dungeon boss Alduin!

+ 15 000 gold, + 500 000 exp

Rewards: crafting bundle [Dragon Parts], Item [Spellbreaker Shield], gacha

You have cleared the dungeon!

+ 1000 credits, + 500.000 exp

The. fuck.

What the… Of course. Karasuba and Margit. Karasuba and Margit! The girls killed my dragon boss! My fucking entertainment!

"Fia-sama?"

"Yes, Haku"

"You seem to be… seething"

"Yes, it would indeed seem so" I repress a growl. I mean, I didn't really keep an eye on it but I noticed the rapid swelling of my exp – by very small amounts sure, but a steady and quick trickle. And I was happy about it, the Servants get to have their fun while I get exp practically for free. But to kill my boss…

Ok, admittedly that is pretty impressive. I haven't seen the Alduin here but this isn't a super-easy dungeon so its boss should be a pretty good. And really durable, if the trend for this dungeon carries on. And I guess I can battle him again, just without the reward and sense of satisfaction for completing the dungeon.

Still, it kinda sucks and I reserve the right to pout about it.

"Let's go find the girls" I exhale heavily.

Haku chuckles softly "Will there be punishment?"

"I'm not sure, Margit would enjoy the spanking way too much"

The chuckle morphed into an equally soft but genuine laugh. When that ended Haku continued "I sincerely hope you won't keep Karasuba-san from fighting, that would be more punishment for us. She might actually go crazy. Well, even more crazy than she already is."

I nod resolutely "True, better for everybody to keep her fighting obsession contained and with a suitable outlet."

"That would be truly wise"

After shooting a mental message to Karasuba and Margit to come to my side immediately, I decide to soothe my irritation by looking at the rewards I didn't really earn. Loot always makes me feel loads better.

Alas I get to barely open up the crafting bundle to see stuff like dragon hide, dragon teeth, dragon blood and so on, kinda regretting not taking Alchemist now, when my wayward Servants rush to me. Margit has the decency to look contrite but Karasuba is practically taunting me with a smug grin.

I swear, those two…

"You took my prey" I begin, glowering at the duo, "What do you have to say for yourself?"

Margit stood more at attention that usual, quite a feat, but said nothing. Karasuba though did not drop her grin, instead she shrugged "Sorry boss, but it got me the winning points over this loser beside me."

"Winning points?!" Margit all too predictably snaps out of her silence, "It was my victory, I dealt the final blow!"

"I your dreams, tomato-chan"

"You…"

"ENOUGH!" I rub my eyes. This here is exactly why I never wanted any children. "Control yourselves a little! I will not tolerate you running off without direction, not even in this mock environment – it would become a habit and such a habit can be deadly in the real world. Even for people like us. And do learn to contain your tempers, do not let it cloud your judgment. Or your orders for that matter."

"Yes, my lady" Margit backs down instantly.

"Guess I'll try, ashikabi-san" the ashen-haired warrior shrugs all too nonchalantly.

That does prompt another sigh from me. Especially since she doesn't finish here.

"Sooo" Karasuba cocked her head to the side, "Does this mean we can't go respawn the dragon and go again?"

Yes, I can only sigh.

I love my light, I really do, and Mind Mage I absolutely adore, but I have to say that Mokuton is easily up there with them. It's just so darn useful! My light has amazing attack Stats but the wood release, while also having nice attacks, just rules where utility is concerned. Mind Mage is the undisputed king, but Mokuton can get me this…

With a proud look I stop channeling my mana and look at the finished product. Awesome. I have a new fortress, and it was faster than assembling an Ikea set. Granted, my people have started the construction, even dragged some stone over from a nearby ruin, but I finished the job and actually made it viable. And much more sturdy. It just needs some polish and a few wards.

"This is amazing, Sky-Chosen" my vanguard leader whispers in awe beside me, his usually boisterous attitude nowhere to be found.

"Thank you" I give a small smile in return, "You have done well in clearing the darkspawn from the area."

The warrior grins back "We haven't even lost many men, your blessings allowed us to cut through them like sheep."

"And have you encountered any of Loghain's men?" I hum, "Or elves?"

"Just those we sent word to you about" the man shrugs and vaguely gestures behind him.

I nod, the elves are what brought me here in the first place. The fortress needed to be done as well but I was interested in more population. Still, it is good that now I have a good base near the Brecilian Passage, just in case Gwaren makes a move. I won't be expanding past the forest yet but being so close to Loghain's own lands will make him nervous. Him and his lords. I wouldn't put it past them to try something – hence my fortress. And lots of guerrilla groups in the Passage, of course. Hopefully native elves, which brings me back to the matter at hand.

"Where are they?"

My warrior gives one last appreciative look at the new walls and motions me to come with him. It's only a short way away but my vanguard leader proves himself a good choice for that position by stopping to give orders concerning the new fortress. Why wait around, there is work to be done there. Finally though, I get to meet the elves. A mere four of them. I'm disappointed.

I quickly Observe them and then peek into their minds before I even address them, my warrior taking care of the introductions.

What I find is fairly interesting but I'm not sure if I like it – the foursome are exiles of sorts, not any kind of representatives for their people. Seems I will not be getting the Dalish yet… Ah well, being exiles and all, they will be much more willing to join my forces. We can work from there, especially since the reasons for being dropped by their people are stupid. One got exiled for 'being too friendly with humans', which clearly isn't a problem for me. One is gay and refused to get married and propagate their dwindling race – naturally I couldn't care less. Still, it is an interesting tidbit of information about the Dalish elves, though it does make sense – the Dalish are all about preserving their people, be it population-wise or lore-wise. My newest member of the Pride family also brought his sister along, or more like she demanded it and very loudly, and with rather inventive curses, told precisely where the tribe elders can shove their traditions. Fun girl.

Last but not least we have an elf that simply got up and left because he wanted to fight and not sing songs around a campfire in a forest, and any other elfy stuff. He considers himself a warrior and anything else is a far distant second. He wants to make his own way, tradition be damned, and be the best fighter he can be. Cool. He's a bit angsty on the inside, but he will be an excellent addition to my forces. Also fun fact, while his three companions have bows, he has chosen a sword. Not even the twin daggers that Dragon Age Origins offers to the elf hero.

And an even funnier fact – neither of the four has the widely popular Mythal vallaslin tattooed on their forehead. Not that I would let them know I will be killing their goddess or anything, but still a fun fact.

The first elf has clearly been chosen to speak for them, likely for his experience with humans, but before he can utter a sound, the warrior elf pre-empts him with an intense look "You fight darkspawn, ya?"

"Yes" I repress a chuckle. He does feel a bit like Karasuba, though it will probably be better if they don't meet anytime soon.

The leader tries to interject but his companion is faster "And you're kicking human ass too, ya?"

"Yes"

"And you will continue to do so, ya?"

"Yes"

"I wanna join" the elf grins, completely transforming his previously frowning face.

I grin back, looking at his rather impressive Stats, "Sure. I have just the team in mind for you to join."

"Team?" the grin drops, "I'm better off alone."

"Shocker" the only elf girl mutters, getting an elbow from her brother.

I ignore the byplay "It's my elite team – not only it gets my best equipment, it also get send them on the most dangerous assignments."

"Alright" the elf shrugs despite his skeptical look.

Aww, don't worry, I will send you out as soon as the darkspawn show up.

The leader clears his throat, making me focus on him "Well, similarly to Fadin here, we offer our skills in exchange for shelter and protection. We have no clan and cannot resist the darkspawn for long. Still, we know the Brecilian Forest better than anybody, we would be an asset to your men here."

Staying close to the forest, why not. And I get guides for my guerilla teams. Good deal. And they can potentially recruit some other lost, or not so lost, Dalish soul. Hm, I wonder just how many tribes stayed here anyway… Origins only showed one and that the others have fled. Not that there are many Dalish to begin with.

The elf leader clearly took my silence as hesitation so he speaks again, his thoughts a bit more frantic "We also have a piece of information you could find interesting."

"Oh?" I drawl out, eager for any advantage. Sin of Greed and all.

"One of our elders spoke of your people, the Avvar, in some of his stories" the leader shuffles his feet, getting an unimpressed eye roll from the newest member of Margit's squad.

Similarly annoyed is the elf girl "He means to say that we have a possible location of the resting place of your Tyrrda Brightaxe. We don't know for sure but the elder seemed pretty convinced."

"That is interesting indeed" I nod – you can loot Tyrrda's grave in DA Inquisition and get a really nice staff out of it. Me likey.

"I was the elder's apprentice, I can lead you there" the girl smirks, clearly patting herself on the back.

The smirk kinda irritates me but I'll let it go, after all I am profiting greatly from all this. I nod "Very well, the Alamarri Dominion welcomes you."

Just as I motion them to follow me I get a notification from System. Apparently this measly foursome counts as getting Dalish population, no matter how meager, and I get a nice chunk of Class exp for the growth of my conquest. Nice. Also Credits. Double nice.

All this elf talk reminds me that I have to check out that elf dungeon soon. And without Karasuba and Magit, look what happened in Skyrim. But first I better get my newest population settled.

I offload the bow-wielding trio on my vanguard and instruct one of the scouts to take the warrior one to Ostagar, but not before first getting that grave location. With Mind Mage and the girl's description I can get it on my own in a jiffy.

Case in point, not even twenty minutes after telling my vanguard, or would it now be Brecilian guard?, to take the elves in, I have my loot.

Tyrrda Bright-Axe's… axe. Which of course is a mage's staff same as in the game. Being 'bright' and all, the staff has the fire attribute, and some attacks are actually rather nice but weaker than anything I have on my own. Not that interesting. What is interesting is that it has a passive that boosts my magic attack and magic defense. And 10% is a lot when my magical attacks are calculated from my ever-soaring INT. And it gives a further 5% to fire and light attacks – perfect for me. That said… it's a little unwieldy.

Eh, I can wear it strapped on my back. It's too good not to use.

OR! Or maybe I could reforge it? Into a gauntlet or something? Could I do it without damaging the boosting properties? This definitely requires looking into, and experiment on some useless mage staves. Even though they are bound to be far less durable – Tyrrda really knew her shit and made an Epic-tiered weapon. We'll see, as I said, I need to experiment.

Still, thank you Tyrrda, legendary Avvar warrior queen. I'll take good care of it.

For now I put the staff in Inventory – I need a good harness for it, and where better to get it than my craftsmen in Ostagar. The Chasind and Avvar don't really have many but some of the Fereldans are finally getting comfortable so I might even get a regular market district soon!

My destination clear, I teleport there after putting the grave back in order. No need to be disrespectful now that loot is out of the way.

After getting that commission started, I decide to spend the time it will take inspecting my new Wyvern Corps. Only six wyvern strong so far, a small squad, but a good proof of concept. I worked out a mana battery easily enough, harder was to link the wyvern to it to keep it summoned. And work in a failsafe so that the mana drain could be switched to the reserve battery in case it runs out or it is damaged in any way. And work in an intent-based self-destruct – I don't want anyone to get their mitts on my work after all. And… well, let's just say it was hard work and I'm pretty proud of it. Magical Engineering, heh. Now it is time to see if it was worth it.

With the wyverns, because the batteries are going to come in handy for a lot of stuff in the future. The Engineer is itching to come out to play with this new power source. Enchanter and Wardmaster are rubbing their hands together as well. It's no Stark's arc reactor, but baby steps. This version requires me charging them up myself or a docking station that has my charge in it, they can't work on its own. I'll get there though. Maybe I could forget playing medieval for a while and try working out said arc reactor or something similar.

Nah, after I finish having my fun with Blacksmith. I really have to be careful about modern resources. Or… Oh, what the heck. [Shop]!

I should have just enough Credits, my sweet sweet Credits, and I was planning on getting this anyway.

[Flashback Jumper] is a go! An expensive purchase but now I can get back to BokuHero to do some 'shopping' if needed. And with the necessary purchase out of the way I can now save up for other stuff.

Save up indeed, I'm almost broke…

Hmmmm…

"Haku?"

"Yes, Fia-sama?"

"Would you be a dear and go play thief for a while?"

"Fia-sama?"

"I need money. Mainly to renovate Skyhold. And I need more to convert into Credits, which I spent right now"

"I see. I shall do my best, Fia-sama"

"Nothing conspicuous, please. And be careful"

"It shall be done. And on a connected issue, I now indeed see your point of me having a squad of stealth specialists"

I smirk, it indeed would've been better to delegate this to underlings. Alas. Hopefully once I have Leliana we can go into the rogue business in the earnest. Still, it should get Haku to train some people that could be trusted with my tech.

Another way to get money is dungeons – the monsters there drop a small sum but it can be farmed really easily. I'm sure Karasuba can do that for me.

Yet another Servant dispatched, I turn my thoughts back to the wyverns and with a noticeable pep in my step I walk to their training ground.

Flying a wyvern of my own doesn't really get me anything, no Skill or Title, but it's enjoyable all the same. My self-flying ability is no doubt better but flying on something feels like quidditch. Hmm… I mean, I already introduced one sport idea stolen from a book… Maybe. But I guess brooms are better than half-trained flesh-eating draconids.

All in all the Wyvern Corps appears to be doing well. Still, their coordination could use some work and maybe get some more ideas for attack, other than snipe them from a distance and 'charge!' could be good too. Maybe Karasuba has some ideas? The sekirei has really diverse abilities, I'm sure one of them has to do something with flying. I should ask Margit and Haku too, they really are smart about fighting.

To be honest I'm not sure my Wyvern Corps will be ready to fight in the battle of Denerim (if that indeed will be the battlefield for that final fight as in canon), it might be better to wait and to reveal them against the Chantry or Orlais. I want my Corps to be much bigger than this and much better trained too. Guess I can wait.

That staff harness should be done

'Thank you, System, for keeping track of time for me'

You asked nicely

And I'm really bored.

Do something fun

I pause my scratching my summoned wyvern in reward for a good flight'I don't suppose me going to grow some more Mana Batteries with mokuton and doing my thing on them while Shianni briefs me is considered fun.'

Nope

'I am doing stuff you know' I defend, 'It's running all in the background – my people are training, population integrating, influence trees influencing, the Fereldan resistance plotting, Shianni is doing most of the paperwork…'

Boring

I sigh, I am actually having fun here but I guess I see System's point.

There is actually plenty I could do but nothing is really pressing and I was happy taking it easy for a little while, most of my projects do need time after all. Like the warden and his party are in the Deep Roads somewhere and won't be getting out anytime soon. Similarly the Fereldan nobles I'm in contact with need some space to breathe and my work as Mind Mage on them help things along. I mean I could go harass queen Anora again, so far I have been in sporadic communication and it might be time to finally 'kidnap' her and put her in touch with the rebellion, make her lead it so it is all on the up and up. But that would make Loghain react and I don't need that, not while he's doing a lot of his work for me with his tyrannical approach. But I guess I can pass some letters between Anora and the Arls, to start some movement there…

But I guess that is not exactly 'fun', is it.

I could move my border again, time is getting shorter and I want to swallow more of Ferelden before the Blight is over. Yes, having a big acknowledged territory to best provoke the Chantry, and Orlais, to try 'liberating' it from the heathens and practically handing me Ferelden while doing so.

Yes, I'll do that, I'll send my people to Edgehall Arling. It's mostly darkspawn there, the humans having fled to its northern border, so it should be relatively quick.

…ah, I guess 'sending my people' isn't really fun either. Oh, I am definitely doing it, and fighting when they encounter darkspawn in a big way, but it does not really fulfill that requirement of fun.

Then finally an idea strikes me – I never actually manufactured that big scandal for the Chantry in Denerim. Personally I mean, Haku and Shianni did some stuff, but a personal touch is a personal touch. The missing orphans were good, the approving of Tevinter slavery was good, but both were a little… far-fetched? I need something more human, something the average peasant can get angry over. Perhaps hoarding food while there is a shortage… Hm, we'll see – I best go to Rila to tell her to prepare to lead my army to Edgehall and then I'll go to Denerim to stir some trouble.

And maybe grow some more influencing tr… no, probably not trees in a city like that. Influencing shrubbery? I already did some work in person each time I visited but it is time to turn it up a notch, my influencing ward is as close to perfect as I can get it, in my humble opinion of course, so I can go wild with it.

'How about it, System? Entertaining enough?'

I'll take it

+1 CHA

'Love you too' I chuckle and [Flashstep] towards where I think Rila could be.

X

System had a point – while there is still a lot to do in Ostagar, going out to have some more active fun is good. Even though I delegate the vast majority of my work to Rila, Shianni, Haku and loads of other people beneath them. But I am a monarch now, that is what we do, that is what is needed for a country to be run – competent underlings.

Anyway, going alone in a territory that is not my own is what most games are about. Sure, I won't be accepting any quests but I have my own list of things I want to do. Maybe even come up with something on the spot.

I whistle happily as I leisurely make my way through the city, my hands in the pockets of my current stealth-oriented outfit, that is Ezio's Suit I got from gacha a while back. I briefly contemplated shape shifting into Assassin's Creed Ezio to complete the look but in the end I stayed the way I am. Naturally a lone woman, not even visibly armed or armored, was considered a tempting target for a mugging, with perhaps a follow-up 'fun'. No need to say that Denerim's collective intelligence rose up a little bit by me killing the thugs, and getting a few Stats out of it.

As I walk my Mind Mage is working overtime, getting me a general feel of the populace of the city. With some satisfaction I note that the work I put in previously has paid off. Nothing big or overt, but that wasn't the aim. I just want the people to be open to change, and to support it once it's here. Turning the citizens against Howe was practically unnecessary, against Loghain it was fairly easy, it is the third target that needs more dirt. The Chantry. Which is why I'm here, so let's get to work.

The food hoarding idea is a good start I guess, I even have some food in Inventory for this occasion. Breaking into the church is ridiculously easy and I simply dump the food there, letting my magic make it unnoticeable to the sisters and brothers of the Chantry until explicitly confronted with it – it wouldn't do for them to find it and conclude it was a miracle and maybe even distribute it around. To my surprise I actually found that were in fact not hoarding food, I kinda expected that would be the case and just wanted to add more to the stockpile. Guess they weren't that greedy around here. Ah, well.

I could go spread the food rumor around now but if there will be an incursion into the church to check, I might plant a few more things around.

Orlesian correspondence is always good. It doesn't matter what it is, it only matters it is in Orlesian. So I simply write up an order for books and some other odds and ends. I don't really want something really incriminating that would be investigated and proven false. I just want rumors and suspicions.

Next I could… oh, hello. I grin as an older chantry brother enters his room not far from my position. My grin gets wider as I access his mind. A few nudges later he is leaving his room again, destination whores. Not the Pearl, that is a well-known and rather fine establishment, something seedier will work better here. Something with a shadier reputation. The naughty Brother Stephan here even knows where to find one, despite never actually visiting and keeping to his vows.

A sexual scandal is an oldie but a goodie.

Hmm, perhaps three things in a row will do for now. More would feel forced. Now it is only a matter of letting the food rumor spread, the letters will be found thanks to a compulsion ward, and Brother Stephan will be caught on his own. … Alright, I'll help out with Stephan, better not to leave these things to chance and potential customer confidentiality.

While I'm going around I also spread positive vibes about the Sky-Chosen, draw more faith parallels. I have nothing against the Maker and Andraste, I just want the Chantry out of power – as such hijacking the faith is the way to go. Let them think the Chantry corrupt and overly political, all of which is true, and that pure faith can be transferred to me. And the Lady of the Skies. But mostly me. Somebody that acts, protects, and genuinely performs miracles. Which also brings to mind I should slowly spread the info about me reversing the Rite of Tranquility, and some of the horror stories the newly awakened mages have to tell. But this I will take to the nobles first, being it 'sensitive' information and all.

My next stop perhaps. After visiting Anora of course.

The queen is easy to find as always, her regent keeping her practically locked up in her quarters. The way there is familiar, me having stopped by several times already. I have already told her about the Fereldan resistance, leaving out Alr Eamon since that one is going solo, and that seemed something she latched on. After all, being the face of the resistance, or at least prominently associated with them, would let her keep the crown and paint her as another victim of evil Loghain. Which is basically true so all the better. Good for me too since I control the flow of correspondence between the rebellious nobles and the queen and all the while I can influence Anora, and the nobles, enough that they will firmly think me indispensable. A true ally, both against the Blight and the tyrant playing regent.

Anora, despite being afraid of her father now, and even more afraid of Howe and his interest in her, is actually a rather though cookie to influence. I definitely did not expect such willpower. Still, her acknowledging the Alamarri Dominion as an ally and at least a semi-independent nation is around the corner. The nobles too are reluctant to part with a very big chunk of their nation but they are coming around. Gosh I love Mind Mage. It really helps that Oswyn, the heir of Dragon's Peak bannorn that I saved from Howe's dungeons, is pushing the angle of me being sent by the gods to save them all and deliver us to better times. The lords aren't all that keen on that narrative but many of their sons and daughters are lapping it up. Oswyn is both charming and really persuasive. I will need to reward his devotion to me after things are sorted, he deserves it.

"Good evening" I say cheerily to Anora as soon as her handmaiden excuses herself from the room.

The young queen visibly startles but regains control of herself almost instantly. Cute. "Hello, lady Fia."

"How are you this fine day?"

Anora arches a delicate eyebrow at my joviality and easy smile "As usual. Well."

I like that she never whines. She cajoles, persuades, demands and is passive-aggressive, but never whines or laments her situation. And her situation kinda sucks – I know it, she knows it. She also knows I'm taking advantage of said situation but she knows I'm her only way out, a feeling I reinforced with Mind Mage to the point the fact is absolute. I love it.

The only real downside to this is that I would feel bad seducing her at this moment. Guess I'll have to try my luck once she gets out of here and with the resistance. Which is about a month away? I can't very well kidnap her from the palace and drive Loghain even more nutters before we are ready, mainly before the wardens are ready to move. It will mean war in the earnest and the Archdemon is sure to take advantage of the chaos to send the main invasion force – hence the need for wardens. Besides, they are also the witnesses to the king's death and have united people against the Blight.

Still, a pity about Anora, I would love to have a little affair with the queen. It will be harder when there are other lords around, especially lords who will want to take advantage of the situation too and put one of them, or their sons, on the throne right beside her through marriage. Right now Anora only really has her loyal handmaiden, which she is already fond of and a little mind delve says she had been fond of a long time now. Apparently she and Cailan, the late king, were childhood friends more than anything and sex between them was awkward and rare. Cailan went on by having a string of mistresses while Anora had to keep a more demure image and got it on with the handmaiden in secret instead. Not that the two women are in love or anything, it isn't a Celene/Briala situation, more like… helping out and passing time.

Yes, I would very much like to get to know little repressed Anora. Oh well, I'll wait. Some attention won't hurt though, I think.

"And how are you?" Anora asked amiably, resisting the urge to roll her eyes at me with practiced ease.

"Rather excellent" my smile turns into a proud grin, "I have managed to right a grievous injustice."

"Oh?" the queen's posture shifts to intrigued. I don't need telepathy to see she hopes I'm talking about her. Sorry darling.

"Oh yes" I nod, "I have reversed the Rite of Tranquility on several mages that have found themselves in Ostagar."

Anora's eyes widen but once more her upbringing and lessons in politics kick in and she wrestles her body into compliance, "Truly? That is quite a feat, I had thought the Rite to be irreversible. Or so the Chantry has always assured."

"Of course they assured, it is a method to silence any mage that might inconvenience them," I frown, "Some of the stories they tell… You see, they remember everything, everything that they were made to do and everything that was done to them. Some of those stories are horrible, and it goes to show that people are people, no matter how holy they style themselves."

"I see" Anora's eyes turn flinty, evidently seeing well indeed, "How many mages have you turned back?"

I shrug "A few. But I would still like to help many more, especially since the practice is cruel and barbaric. Magic can always be contained, sometimes it just takes a bit more effort than people are willing to put in. Tranquility is expedient, but little else."

"I imagine the Chantry doesn't see it that way. Similarly, it won't appreciate you undoing their work. Or unleashing unstable mages"

"I do not think the Chantry will appreciate me and mine anyway" I smirk.

At this a corner of Anora's mouth ticks minutely upwards "Indeed."

Isn't it nice that the Fereldan queen isn't all that keen on religion? Gets that from her father actually, he practically worships Ferelden itself and does not like any outside influences, even religion. Especially religion. And especially religion that is based in Orlais. As such, Anora definitely doesn't mind this snub, though she does fear what will it mean for her nation and her people.

The answer is obviously war, after all I am provoking the Chantry on purpose. And I will keep doing so until they are forced to openly move, until putting down the heathen in south Ferelden is the only move they can make to save their institution.

Naturally reversing Tranquility was about that too, but to be honest I did it mostly because it felt right and it did get me new people. And don't forget it was a quest. It did net me a very decent exp bump, credits and two more rewards – a Skill book for [Clarity], an easier and more universal method of purging mental influences and afflictions, and a new Title [Miracle Maker] that raises my CHA and my LCK. The Skill will be seriously useful, less so the Title. It's not bad but nothing to write home about. Honestly I was more hyped about the reward I got from the Skyrim dungeon gacha - another Skill book, this time [Banshee Scream]. Less in the line of predicting death as mythology states, more the combat kind of World of Warcraft. That Skill is awesome, when leveled it will be pretty devastating, and best of all it manages to bypass most barriers.

Reversing tranquility though will have a big impact – if I remember things right, the fact that it was possible was one of the big topics of the mages' rebellion prior to the Inquisition. Everything concerning Tranquility is a sensitive topic. Well, not really for the average peasant, they barely heard about it. Anora is no mage or templar but she has a good political sense and an even better education. She knows the implications. And as such, she has many, many question, mostly focused on how to placate the Chantry.

Ha.

Anyway, the topic soon changes to something more immediate, namely the nobles that support deposing her father and her back on the throne. Despite not having Theirin blood. On that subject, I am rather surprised Arl Eamon has yet to begin moving, I thought he would be more proactive and securing support for himself to crown Alistair. I was fully prepared to intercept those letters but there were none. Guess, he's waiting for the royal bastard to actually survive the Deep Roads.

Well, while Eamon is twiddling his thumbs, and dealing with the mess his son has created in his absence, I have secured for us some increasingly firm support from the other anti-Loghain lords. And I will be backing Anora. And the undying friendship between the Alamarri and Ferelden.

And I even have a new thing to help with that – thanks to the +2 CHA that Sky Chosen Class gets me every level, I reached the 500 threshold and got a new Perk. To be honest, I'm not sure how CHA works precisely because I haven't really noticed anything major like me winking at somebody who immediately falls at my feat in utter adoration. I guess it works in the background with rep gain, or it gets me access to people who wouldn't normally give me time of day. Bah, who knows. Well, System does but it's not telling. The Perk at least is clear – [Popular] gives me faster rep gains. Plain and simple.

Also, funnily enough, CHA is now my second highest Stat, right after INT. Which isn't bad but I definitely need to up my game in those other areas. Intelligence is still the priority though, me being mainly a caster and all. On that one I have been working diligently, and it shows as it is miles ahead of the rest.

"Do you mind me asking," I smile at Anora while changing subject from yet more politics, "Where did that strapping Ser Cauthrien went? She usually guards either you or your father. Or very obviously skulks around Howe. And let me tell you, she is no spy, it's almost painful to watch."

The blonde arches a delicate eyebrow "She is no spy, true enough, but her presence still hinders Howe in whatever schemes he's cooking."

"Eh" I make a so-so motion, not really convinced. Howe is way too sly.

"And I don't know where she is, presumably father sent her on an assignment"

"Hmm"

"What is your interest in her?"

I chuckle "No need to be jealous, she might be strapping but you are far more interesting. I just like keeping tabs on important people. Her connection to your father makes her important. Nothing more."

"Hmph" Anora actually does roll her eyes. It's almost as if we're friends!

"Or is it that it's the other way around, you are more interested in her?" I pout theatrically, "Now I am jealous."

"I'm sure" was the dry response.

"Come now, I do mean it you know. Your resilience and keen mind are quite attractive. Since I don't need your crown and all, you can be assured that I am quite genuine" I switch my teasing tone to a lightly flirting one. I am speaking the truth after all. Except the crown part, while she can have it for now, I very much want the metaphorical crown. And not just of Ferelden.

Anora eyes me for quite a while and then she shrugs almost imperceptibly "Yes, I believe I shall be quite popular once my father is deposed."

"Indeed. But our association can give you some space. And time. After all, you won't be relying on the nobles of the resistance only, we will be providing quite a lot of support as well"

The queen hums "Perhaps. They'll push, indubitably, but I'm young enough not to be in a hurry for an immediate heir to secure my rule. And yes, the Avvar link will help."

I grin "Anything for the ruler of our sister-nation."

Anora's features tighten. She is her father's daughter, the very idea of relinquishing parts of Fereldan lands is abhorrent to her. But she well knows this is the deal. Naturally she will try skirting out of it later but by that time she will be in too deep. I'll make sure of it.

"And on that note, I think it's time for me to leave" I nod at the blonde, "I'll be back soon though. We might be laying low for now, both the resistance and us, but before the winter ends I'm going to get you out of here. And you'll regain your crown."

What I feel from Anora is a mix of both hope and apprehension. Also doubt, which isn't nice. I might be stringing her along a little but I fully intend to deliver. On the plus side, she does actually find me attractive. Or, well, she suspects she would if I ever took off my [Leader's Paint]. That is quite soothing for my ego. Yep, I'm probably doing something about it once she's queen in more than name again.

"Yes, I certainly hope it will be soon" Anora finally settled on.

"Any reason in particular, aside the obvious?"

The young widow hummed lightly "Howe has been smiling lately. I don't think that bodes well for anybody."

My smile drops "I see. That is indeed… not good. I shall investigate." Poor overworked Haku, another job for him.

"Have I mentioned your ability to slip in and out of the Fereldan royal palace unimpeded and undetected is very disturbing?"

"You have. On several occasions" I smirk.

"I think it bears repeating"

Oooh, that was a nice one. I laugh and I head to the window as usual. Anora always tries to catch me in doing my disappearing act – needless to say she hasn't yet and she won't. Unless I show her. Which I probably will, once I kidnap her and bring her to head the remaining Fereldan nobles.

I have to grin at the muttered curse, Anora failed yet again. Hard to succeed when I can practically turn invisible with a simple thought and a little bit of mana, not to mention speed up on the roof before she can even reach the window. Fun.

With some more mana application I flash step back into the city. After all, I have to check on naughty Brother Stephen.

I don't need to go far, to my slight surprise there is some gossip around about it already. Seems the whorehouse was less than discreet. Or was it the man himself? He can't be all that bright, apparently he tried to claim he was providing the whores with 'spiritual assistance'. Deliciously scandalous.

On the other hand the food thing didn't get any traction yet. But that was expected. Naughty Brother Stephen though should push things along, people will want to have a peek at the affairs inside the chantry building after that. I'll send Haku to check on things later this week, he needs to take a look at Howe anyway.

With this done, I can happily teleport home. Today has been a productive day.

My vague sense of accomplishment and happiness dims a little as I land right in the middle of an argument. Margit and Karasuba, again. Normally, when they leave other people out of it, it is quite funny. With some notable exceptions, of course. A certain dragon boss comes to mind. Sometimes though, they can be loud and exhausting. Especially when it is taking place in my room of all places. And I kinda wanted to take a nap…

Plans change though. Some quite quickly too. Especially since that as soon as I'm spotted, Karasuba accosts me with a very wicked smirk and captures my lips, not in her usual aggressive way but with teasing sensuality.

My confusion persists even though enjoyment takes the forefront – Karasuba is usually just horny after a good battle or spar and has shown a clear preference for cock. She was delighted when she realized I could bring one up, pun intended, at will. But usually with her it was rough, not much foreplay, just getting off. Nothing slow or intimate but harsh and fast. Fast being a key word here since she jumped me after a spar on day two. I didn't even have much Affection with her yet! Fun fact, winning the spar got me some points, the sex didn't. Despite a rather pleased smile on her face. And being rather mellow for a while after getting fucked.

Then suddenly Karasuba is torn away from me, Margit roughly throwing her away and pinning me to the wall instead, crashing her lips to mine and invading my mouth with her very insistent tongue. Ohhhh! Realization dawns. Yet another game of one-upwomanship between the two. Well, this one seems harmless enough…

"Not too bad" Karasuba sniggers in the background, "But I'd already have her gushing."

Margit increases the aggressiveness but stays in the realm of making out. I go with the flow, not wanting to get on the middle of the argument. Or whatever this is. Besides, seems I will be benefitting from this so I do not mind being used to make a point.

The red-head disconnects our lips and unglues her body from mine to pin me with a fierce stare "Shape-shift that cock of yours."

I blink in surprise at Margit's demand. Not Karasuba, but Margit. And not asked, demanded. Just what the hell happened when I was away?

Karasuba cackles gleefully "Oh yes, grow a cock, let's see how she can handle it."

I obliged without a word. Or thought – those were kinda hard to come by at the moment.

Margit firmly cups me between my legs, shifting to better accommodate my newest addition, and squeezing with clear intent. That intent is reflected in her eyes, making them dark and determined and hungry. It's damn attractive.

Somehow I get wrangled into my comfy reading chair, no idea how actually, only that it involved the sekirei as well. Margit determinedly taking off my pants while Karasuba pushed me into the chair made all those unimportant memories vanish.

The red-head slaps my legs open, dropping to her knees between them. The visual makes my new addition twitch, something that still feels both perfectly normal and very weird. The dichotomy of feeling is soon solved by the [Gamer's Mind] as always, leaving only aroused anticipation behind.

Karasuba says something again, something goading judging from the tone, but her words barely register as Margit has already taken the tip into her mouth. A few firm sucks are first but then she lets the tip rest only on her lips, using her tongue to flick to taste the first drops of my essence.

A moan comes unbidden from my lips, making Margit look up at me with a look that could only be translated to 'smug'. Then she draws the head past her lips again, slowly descending on the shaft, working it quite expertly along the way.

My mind is in a sort of haze, I don't even notice I closed my eyes at some point. The awareness at that fact only comes when my eyes shoot open as Margit ventures further, my cock nudging at her throat. Margit retreats, clearly unprepared. That is when Karasuba gets involved again, seizing the back of the soldier's head and forces it back down, and further down, making Margit downright choke.

"Karasuba! Enough!" I have the presence of mind to pretest on the red-head's behalf. It's not as if she could speak right now.

"Fine" the sekirei rolls her eyes and relents, letting Margit come up for air, "Should've known she'd chicken out."

Once Margit's coughing stops, she growles at Karasuba, tells her to fuck off, and swiftly returns to work. Again trying to prove something as she goes right down and, with only a moment's hesitation, lets my cock into her throat.

Karasuba laughs and starts to clap while Margit's eyes shine with both pride and a sheen of tears she refuses to drop despite the strain. Finally she manages to seal her lips around the base with a moan of triumph.

I'd comment but I am way too entranced by both the feel and the visual. I'm practically frozen, mouth hanging slightly open, making me the target of the sekirei's mocking words for a change.

As Margit continues her ministrations, Karasuba decides to get join in and drapes over the red-head's back, letting her hands roam. Whether it is another taunt or a reward, I cannot tell. Margit clearly decided it was the former and while still occupied with sucking me off, she aims a backhand at the sekirei.

The silver-haired alien only laughs, letting her right hand disappear beneath Margit's waistband while the other caresses her intermittently full throat.

Margit doesn't let herself be distracted, and despite being obviously fingered by her fellow Servant, she lets half of the cock slide out of her mouth, lashing her tongue along the underside of the shaft. The red-head arches a cocky brow, giving me a significant look.

A quiet rumble quivers through my chest, travelling outward and becoming audible. The growl ended in a pathetically pleading tone. Margit obviously got what she wanted because once more I am fully enveloped by the heat of her mouth, pulsing almost uncomfortably in the tight space.

"Fuck, that's is" Karasuba just had to speak up, "You're taking her so well. And you're enjoying it too, swallowing all those inches down your throat. You're soaking through your pants, I can't even get a grip so slick you are!"

Margit makes a muffled noise, a cross between a growl and a groan. I actually make quite a similar sound as the suction around my cock increases. Karasuba continues prattling on but I am too far gone to pay it any mind. Pleasure races along my shaft and I only can quiver helplessly as it bursts free into the welcoming warmth of Margit's mouth.

The red-head showed no hesitation. Feeling her swallow around my over-sensitive head only makes me spill faster. My own mouth falls open and my head lolls back even though I desperately wanted to keep watching. My vision blurred and I give up, closing my eyes. I can still feel though, Margit drinking me down.

Karasuba's snigger breaks through the haze but only because she too has been having success with making Margit come closer to her climax, the red-head's moans making even more pleasure run through me. Then Margit lets my cock slip from her mouth to take a sharp intake of breath.

My eyes are still closed but I can hear Margit's orgasm. And Karasuba's gleeful commentary. The sekirei really needs to learn when to shut up. Still, I hope the red-head enjoyed it at least half as much as I did, because it has been pretty spectacular for me.

When I finally regain my breath I open my eyes only to be greeted by the sight of Karasuba aggressively making out with a slightly stained Margit. Guess she had been too distracted by her own climax to catch the tail-end of mine.

I leave them to it, wanting nothing more than curl up on my bed and take that nap.

"So, my turn?" Karasuba smirks and eyes me greedily…

My nap…

The Game is really user-friendly, or is it just System? We do have a nice relationship… Anyway, I decided to try out [Flashback Jumper] for the first time and it's really easy. It actually left me wondering why it's not a Skill instead – you just initiate a jump with the destination in mind, this time BokuHero. No way I'm ever going back to Highschool of the Dead. It's just a little skip to try things out more than anything, I still need to buy myself a Lore Book about this universe before I do anything big. My knowledge extends pretty much to All Might retiring for good, and that's not enough.

Apart from trying out my new, expensive, Perk, and 'shopping' for more materials for my Skyhold workshop, I want to experiment with one more thing.

"[Race Change: Vampire]!"

I don't feel anything different but I guess that is to be expected – in games you just equip stuff and boom, new char.

Eagerly approaching the mirror in my apartment, I peer into it.

Bugger.

Hahahahahahahahahaha

I roll my eyes at System's contribution - it's all part of the experiment. Like now I know that the Game-type vampires don't reflect in mirrors.

Hahahahahahahahahaha

"[Race Change: Default]!"

I look into the mirror again and with some relief I see myself there. Good, it works. Vamp can be fun but it's sure to have some serious drawbacks alongside the perks. And what those are precisely, well, let's experiment!

"[Race Change: Vampire]!"

My reflection promptly disappears but I take time to assess myself anyway.

Paler skin, check. Fangs? The two upper canines obediently elongate. The lower pair does as well but more modestly. Check. Nails? Oh, they do grow into claws. Cool, that's not universal vampire lore.

Wait, I do so hope I don't sparkle!

I race to the window. Uff, I don't. But to add another check to the list, daylight does hurt. Like a bitch.

My HP quickly regenerates but that was not fun at all. My guess is that my favorite telekinetic Barrier will be useless against the sun rays. Armor/clothes it is if I really need to go around in vampire form during the day.

Anyway, to finish up appearance-wise, I'm fairly sure I look the same as always. Sofia, just paler. Which bring to mind a related issue.

I can only grin in satisfaction when I touch changed my face – Shapeshifting still works. Excellent.

What else.

"Status"

I note quite a few changes so I decide to make myself more comfortable, sit down and retrieve some of that blood I have store in Inventory. You know, just to see how it tastes now.

The moan comes unbidden. Wow. Wow. This is by far the best thing I ever tasted. Damn, so delicious!

Stopping pigging out is hard, really hard since I have a lot of available blood and it really is damn good, but my curiosity eventually prevails. Stats are my first stop since apart from a new line about my new race nothing has changed in the overview. Stats though, those did change. In a big way too. I mean, a flat +100 to STR, AGI and END coupled with a +50 CHA is huge. Especially if you go for a melee build. It would be hard to train those Stats but in a real-life battle it would be a big boon. Especially in a world like Thedas where most of the population are normal.

Moving on – Skills. Oh, no, Perks first.

Good choice, they are five of those. Well, three Perks and two Flaws. The two downsides are obvious - [Weakness to Light] and [Weakness to Faith]. I read both carefully and while the description in Light is expected, the Faith one is a bit of a surprise. Back to Light though – it means both daylight and the element itself. I try, for science!, casting [Light Spear].

"Gaaah" I snarl as the light scorches my hand. I can cast it but it really really hurts. I immediately let the spear dissipate and cast a heal to recover the surprisingly big loss of HP. Ok, that was good to know but I won't be doing it again.

Similarly, I won't be trying out Faith. Especially since I can't, which brings be neatly back to what is so surprising about the Flaw. Faith-based magic is clear but the classic 'symbols of faith' need to be wielded by a faithful. A non-believer wielding a cross would do nothing. I don't think I read it this way before but I like it – it both makes sense and it lessens the Flaw, either a smidgen or a lot, depending on what type of universe I'm currently in.

To be honest I'm pretty relieved that there is no mention of garlic or thresholds. I still do check though. Garlic is easy enough as there is some in the fridge. The threshold thing I deal with by breaking into my neighbors place. Neither has any side-effects. That said, I don't see the not-reflecting-in-mirrors anywhere but that is clearly in effect. Or is it tied to the light Flaw? No idea. But I should've checked the most known things.

Anyway, pretty heavy flaws but the Perks are decent enough to off-set it back into positives. [Nightwalker] gives me a nice +10% to both attack and defense at night, along with easier passing of Stat checks. Good and easy. [Child of Blood] allows me to turn people and makes thralls. This one will require some thought and a few experiments as well I think. The final true Perk is [Blood Demon]. This one has quite a few things hidden under it, mainly the ability to heal via drinking blood, getting a small exp gain when killing with a bite, and a nice enhancement of my senses. Most notably scenting blood at long distances. Cool.

Skills now. First thing though, I filter my Light Mage Skills and immediately notice a massive penalty ascribed to them. So not only their use would hurt, they would also be far less effective than normal. That kinda sucks but I would refrain from using them either way. Good that I have so many more Skills to choose from.

Speaking of, I did get new Skills. Quite a number of them actually. My excitement dims when I notice that I have already approximated most of them. Things like blood drain, bite, mist form, allure, hypnosis. I have those, more or less, and the new ones don't work any better to what I already use. Plus some things are even locked and require draining people to get them. Mist form is an example, as is transforming into a bat – something that the Shapeshifter Class that Morrigan unlocked for me could do, more easily too I'd guess.

I sigh, rather disappointed.

Cheer up

Achievement Unlocked!

Indecisive: You have changed races for the first time; Achievement Reward: Discount in [Shop] for hybrid races when conditions met

With a thoughtful hum I go to check, quite intrigued. True enough, [Race Change: Dhampir] is on offer for only 50 Credits. Other races cost thousands, like before. The why is pretty logical – a dhampir is half-human, half-vampire, I have both of those so I get a discount for the half-breed between them. Nice, I guess. A dhampir should have the Flaws significantly reduced while maintaining most of the positives.

I might look into it sometime but I'm not that enthused. I simply don't think it's worth it. All in all vampire is fun but not that useful for me, and dhampir won't really solve anything. The best thing by far is the ability to make other vampires – I could turn Margit's squad for example and make those impressive warriors truly formidable. But that is just an example. No way I introduce vampires to the very religious Thedas. That would be downright dumb.

But yeah, I won't be using vamp. The deliciousness of blood is not enough to make me reconsider. Also all my activities in BokuHero will be done by me in my Maledicta disguise rather than a true Maledicta. Baseline Sofia is weaker physically but has much more options and she doesn't have those silly weaknesses.

Speaking of those, I leave the apartment, enjoying the sun rays on my skin. With the race thing determined I can freely proceed to the second item on my to-do list – do some more thieving so I can make many more explosive and killing gadgets, for the Flying Dutchman, and some other things to expand my Engineering horizons. It's a hard Class, you don't just get downloaded blueprints into your brain, you actually have to work at it. All the production Classes are this way but the Engineer so far has proven the hardest for me. Guess I wasn't all that into tech before I was reborn as the Gamer…

But enough of that, I am satisfied with what I have built so far, and the beauty of stealing in BokuHero is that they actually have those cool and nifty blueprints, you just have to know who to burglar.

Case in point, my target for tonight. But before that…

With a cheerful chiming sound the bell atop the door announces my arrival into the shop. An unbidden grin form on my lips as I observe rows upon rows of manga volumes. Politely dismissing the clerk, I go to browse the selection – who knows, maybe my next jump will take me somewhere into those. I'm not sure how that would work, some of those manga are definitely only from this Universe, but hey, they are a fun read anyway. And as I said, it might come in handy someday.

Half an hour later I leave the shop laden with several bags of quality literature that will be shoved into Inventory as soon as it will be inconspicuous enough. This short trip into BokuHero has already proven to be a huge success. I have literally zero cash now though so I think it is time for phase two of 'shopping'.

X

Going 'round shopping without Haku is not the same but I'm still enjoying the sneaking, especially around really advanced security. It gives a real sense of accomplishment that, admittedly, is missing from the Dragon Age raids. Though I have yet to attack a target that has magical protections, kinda looking forward to that. Guess Tevinter or elven ruins are the places for that.

Then again, I doubt ancient elves had… this.

It's only half-constructed but the huge and detailed blueprint pinned to the corkboard paints the picture quite clearly. A hover-bike. A very nice and powerful, I'd dare say even drool-worthy, hover-bike. One only needs to finish building it. Easy peasy, especially since all the parts are in this workshop.

Well, not anymore, a few quick swipes and they're in my Inventory. Splendid. This whole set-up will look wonderfully back at Skyhold. Thanks, support hero no-idea-about-your-name!

And here I thought this place would be a bust since the resident tinker is a huge fan of All Might. And I mean huge. He's got posters everywhere, even collectibles. Less in his workshop than the other areas I prowled through, but it's still a lot. He can have those, I'm not interested in the stuff. And it would be adding insult to injury after cleaning out his whole workshop.

As I cast one last glance to the now considerably emptier room, one poster in particular catches my eye. A fairly old one it seems, autographed no less, which depicts All Might with the one side-kick I actually vaguely remember. That sidekick with glasses. Sir nighteyes? I think. Or something similar. Good there is something like google here. Anyway, wasn't he the teacher of that Tintin-looking student that had the Obito/Madara power of phasing through stuff? Because I want that.

Yeah. I want that! And why not, I am strong enough now, aren't I?

I approve!

'Sound fun, eh?'

Epic manga duels? Yes please! More fun that the slow scheming thing you got going in Dragon Age

'I'm playing the long term game there' I frown, 'And I think it's fun. Managing resources, recruiting, eventually waging war against other countries, dismantling a religion…'

Yeah, yeah, you're playing Civilization. Great. This is more fun

'I grant it that my actions in BokuHero are more… dynamic'

Plus I never liked Tintin

My eyebrows threaten to leave my brow completely 'How did you ever got to read it?'

I have knowledge of all the possible universes. You can jump into Tintin's adventures

Don't. By the way

'Noted' I agree easily, I had enough of that comics from French class. Plus it's not like it has a real plot.

I'm so lost in thoughts about Belgian comic book heroes that I almost trip an alarm – I do catch myself in time but that was a blunder. Better to return home and do some thinking there. Or just a convenient hiding place, I'm not that picky.

Seeing it is an early evening still, I head to a café once I get away clean. My Inventory is nice and plush with useful materials, not to mention my new soon-to-be hover-bike, so I might as well plan a little while I treat myself to some dessert. Now that I robbed a few places I have money to pay with again – I did convert almost all of my local money into Credits upon leaving this universe.

One sundae later and I know where exactly Sir Nighteye's Agency is located and some other details about it, such as that it is fairly small. Nothing like Ryukyu's that I assaulted… last week? I'm not sure, with all that time in Dragon Age I didn't bother to keep track of it. And it is fairly irrelevant anyway.

There is nothing about Sir's quirk but I remember something about foresight. I don't know really how it works since I didn't get that far in the anime but I think it's not general foresight, that it is concentrated on a person. That would mean he shouldn't see me coming. A quick pop in, drain Tintin, and pop out.

Still, better to do it sooner than later, he might use his power on himself or Tintin. Who I can't keep calling this… Some more searching and I find the name – Togata Mirio. Anyway, better to go right now. Not just because of the foresight but also because Mirio should be in the Agency – that will be much easier to assault than U.A. during the school year. Naturally the easiest way would be to get him at home, but waiting for that risks foresight again. Yeah, just pop in and drain is the plan.

One thing though… do I go as Maledicta? No, better not, let's make this more mysterious. I'll 'kidnap' him, stash his body into Inventory as I teleport out. And all that done by a not-before-seen villain. After all, Maledicta hunts for food, this is something different.

Alright then, Permeation – here I come!

I like it, zero to plan in a few minutes

'You think I'm rushing it?' I ask with some concern as I duck into a deserted alley to teleport myself near the city Nighteye Agency is in.

That wasn't sarcasm

Go for it!

Try to make it epic

'I'm not really planning to…' I hum as I eye the new scenery. Good thing I went in concealed because I'm really close to a road.

With [Flash Step] I make quick work of the distance, getting me to destination in practically no time. Fast travel for the win. And I can even do it with enemies nearby!

Perhaps there is some quirk or device that law-enforcement or the heroes use to track super-speedy suspicious people that come into town but I found no pursuers. I already put on my new disguise which mostly features Hei's Mask, one of my first gacha items that till now was gathering dust in Inventory. It enhances electrical damage which isn't really useful but it looks good and conceals my whole, shape-shifted, face. Ezio's armor is also on, mainly for that stealth and DEX bonus. This is a surprise attack after all.

The five story building that is the Agency looks fairly ordinary at first glance. A deeper look reveals some quite ingenious automated defenses but I should be ok with that slew of Skills that I have at my disposal. I just hope my target is here, the alternative would be really awkward.

It is testament to how much I have grown that I don't bother with [Minimalization] like I did in that police station, instead I just apply all my stealth and awareness buffs. I am quite eager to add Permeation to the rotation, walking through walls and stuff will definitely come in handy. I just need to find Mirio and drain him. Then I stuff his body in Inventory, no need to leave a body to investigate behind. That was the whole reason behind the vampire sham anyway.

Breaking and entering finished, I now only have to deal with the defenses the Agency has on the inside. Which is to say not that many. Cameras and some sensors, if I avoid those, it's a cake walk. Good that is the plan, Sir has some heavy-duty weapons wired to those things. Not in attack power, but in status effects. Soporific, stun, freeze – all kinds of tools meant for apprehension rather than elimination. Some of it could be even tricky for me.

And with that thought freshly on my mind I have to refrain myself from sighing as one device whirls to life and I have no idea why. It's a narrow hallway so with a burst of speed I avoid the beginning of a bright blue beam and quickly smash the thing.

That I did so at range with telekinesis rather than using my fist allowed me to neatly avoid Mirio who popped out of the wall right in front of where I would be if I were going for melee. To paraphrase the words of a certain admiral – this was a trap. Either I fucked up somewhere or Foresight got me. Here I thought my Luck would have me avoid a fight here. Well, at least System will be happy that there is some action.

Oh well, at least Mirio is here and I don't have to look for him. A quick Nullify and then I just grab him and… What's this?

My Spider-Sense tingles and I let Tintin disappear into the floor, choosing to apply more defensive buffs and dodge instead. I don't know if it was a good trade or not but this way I manage to avoid a shining white barrier coming up in front of me. A quick glance behind me makes it clear they are trying to box me in, and finish me with more tech.

That is a little bit insulting and I take my revenge by going full Hulk Smash and demolish the wall to my right and jumping through it.

Since the walls weren't wired with anything, my maneuver was rather obvious and brought me into a largish room with two ready-for-battle heroes. A blue girl and a bug, Bubble Girl and Centipeder. They work together well but I'm faster. And annoyed. But before I can snap their neck with telekinesis, Mirio is on me again. Smart. And it might've been enough for the me that was in BokuHero before. I am so much better now.

The loud snap reverberates though the room, making the human-looking heroes freeze for a millisecond. Centepeder, his disgusting head twisted at an unnatural angle, begins falling to the ground. Myself I did not hesitate even for a moment, using the Skill again. Another snap, and Bubble Girl is a thing on the past, the bubbles she has conjured before harmlessly dissipating.

Mirio roars, his anguish and fury both crystal clear, but he doesn't try to mindlessly avenge his fallen friends. No mindless aggression. He's not a meathead, but someone with intelligence, despite what his burly appearance might suggest. I'm almost sorry he's going to be dead soon. Almost.

Upon the death of two of his subordinates, Sir Nighteye makes an appearance. I turn my Observe on him, being curious and all, and I have to chuckle when I read that his Foresight is spent. For 23 hours and 45 minutes. Guess that's why only the heroes of the agency are on site, not any reinforcements as of yet – he has to have used his Quirk on Mirio shortly before I came here. That is good luck at least, he can't Foresight me. He knew I would come and that Mirio is the target, that's all. Oh, he must've also known where I would be coming form, either that or he guessed.

Still, I have to hurry up. Since he did in fact predict an attack, I'm sure he took precautions. Well, not that they worked since two of his side-kicks are dead… but you know what I mean. I have to get out before the cavalry arrives.

"Mirio, get…" Sir starts but he's shit out of luck. He's fast but normal human fast, not like his student who moves around like a squirrel on drugs. As such I simply Flash Step towards him, grab him by the neck and drain him. Then I snap his neck. All in all a few milliseconds. Now for…

I dumbly stare at the empty spot where my target was supposed to be. That he disappeared would be logical, problem is that he's not anywhere I can sense him.

Trying several other location methods has me stumped. That, that, that! Tintin! He's fucking escaped! Retreated, whatever. That was Sir's plan! Mirio has nothing left to protect here so he was instructed to leave, regroup and hunt me down afterwards. Or was that the plan from the start, trying to lead me away since he was the target and the casualties were simply unforeseen? Hm, not even pun-making makes me feel good.

Alright. You wanna play it this way? Ok, I can cheat too. Foresight this!

Shoving my hand into Inventory I grasp my first, and only, legendary-tier item. "Rewind!" I growl as the Dagger of Time exits Inventory.

The Dagger works just like in the sequel Prince of Persia games, complete with the blur, weird audio and the literal walking backwards in time. And just like in the games it has a limit to how much back you can go – fortunately hero fights being really fast, I am well in the time-limit. Heh, I'm back in good mood and appreciating good humor. Because suck it Sir and Mirio, I get a do-over!

Now!

My body is in movement, and without the [Gamer's Body] it would take a moment to get your head around the fact you are moving in the other direction now, and my hand just cast the wave that demolished that laser. And… and Mirio exits the wall right in front of me, going for his first trap.

This time I'm not surprised. This time I don't evade. And this time… this time I have a [Nullify] locked and loaded.

Mirio's face is priceless. But having learned from my previous blunder, I don't dawdle – I grab his face and it's done.

New Skill Acquired!

With a satisfied smirk hidden by my mask I nod, System promptly dismissing the notification without even telling me what that Skill is. I do so love System, knowing exactly what I needed at the moment.

Mirio's body is shoved into Inventory and I barrel into the room ahead, the one I avoided last time. Sir is there, his stony face even more stony than usual. That makes me all warm inside since he managed to pull one over me the last time line. But in this one?

New Skill Acquired!

Yes! Still, this will teach me not to play around. Now, let's get rid on any witnesses and let's get out.

Bubble Girl and Centipeder go down quickly, just as in the previous timeline. Those two I leave laying around for the heroes to find. Mirio and Sir are spirited away, their quirks in my Skill list, so there is nothing left to do but leave.

Still, I take a look around o see if I can't get some neat stuff. The lasers are integrated in a larger grid so I leave those alone. Still, I do get some support gear, mainly tablets and weapons - I'll take a look at them back home, maybe they'll be worth recreating or something.

Suppressing the urge to try out my new Skill, [Phase] rather than Permeation curiously enough, I get out the old-fashioned way. Sir has some cameras around and I don't need my teleport known. They shouldn't guess the nullification, but they will have a theory on that. Let them. It shouldn't connect to Maledicta and this disguise can easily be discarded.

There is some commotion going on outside, maybe even Sir's reinforcements, but I lost interest already. I have what I came for so hasta la vista, baby. To the apartment, and then Skyhold. I do have some more plans here, mainly getting Black Hole and Brainwash, but that can wait. The time here doesn't pass anyway unless I'm living it. Which is also bad in a way since Yaoyorozu Momo, one of my favorite characters here, is still painfully underage and untrained. I'd like her to join my team. It would be awkward though. And a lot of work since I would be kidnapping her, and turning at least semi-'evil'.

Hmmm, maybe later. Perhaps after I finish Origins. Maybe. Maybe after another universe. We'll see.

Well, time to go medieval again. See you soonish, heroes.

I have to grin as the newly formed pink petals of the sakura trees flutter in the wind. Snow or no snow, cold or no cold, my mokuton-grown trees prosper. Having a little break from... well, nothing much, gaming I guess, I decided to grow myself a very pretty road. OK, the road was already there, I just lined it with trees and made a canal. I took inspiration from the Philosopher's Path that I saw in Kyoto back in the 'real world'. Very peaceful. Pity though it doesn't really lead anywhere of note…

Perhaps I could make some hot springs here? To go with the theme?

It would certainly beautify the whole area. But I do have to make sure that I don't get some ugly huts and houses near here, perhaps start something like an entertainment quarter? Sure I don't have any restaurants or anything yet but they would fit so nicely right about there and…

Achievement Unlocked!

What? Achievement? I don't have many of those…

There's No Place Like Home: You built yourself a pretty base! Reward: Hub Mechanic

Hub?

Make Ostagar your Hub?

Well, that didn't clear things up at all.

Besides, Skyhold is more suitable as a base going forward. I go for [Decline], hoping…

Choose your Hub

Yess!

[I'll wait] is the very first option but I actually have four others – the aforementioned Ostagar, Skyhold, my apartment in Boku Hero and Blood Mist Hold. Plus finally there is that guide option which I select without hesitation

Welcome to the Hub mechanic!

Your Hub is your sanctuary, your safe space. You go back after completing each universe so build and expand it to your heart's content! If you have credits, money or resources, you can make yourself a true Gamer's base of operations! In a FLASH! Or you can do it the old-fashioned way, it's your base after all.

Ok, that's a little bit sparse but I guess it does say everything. I would've liked to see what exactly I can build but if it's a 'true Gamer's base of operations' then I guess the answer is: everything. The money and credits is a bit of a downer but if I can make it up with pure resources…

I'm sure the Hub can be moved if there is need. It might cost credits but I'm sure it is a possibility. With that, my decision is made. I make Skyhold my Hub.

A festive tune accompanies yet another floating box that informs me that the first access to the Hub mechanic has to be done from said Hub and that a surprise is waiting there for me.

With a grin I contact my three Servants that I'm going out and I [Teleport] myself to the coordinates of my workshop. I put my hands on my hips and look around.

Nothing happens.

'Eh, System?'

Go to either the [Throne Room] or the [Master Bedroom]

"Thanks" I hum out loud and with my hands in my pockets I stroll towards the throne room, or the room that held the throne in the third game. Last time I was here the room was simply an empty hall with several fallen beams and a chandelier, drapes in tatters and dust everywhere. Since I only took care of the workshop area and some smaller rooms, I'm curious to see if anything changed.

I'm kinda glad I did not [Flashstep] here as one change is apparent right away – the throne room now actually has a throne. It looks a bit incongruent with the rest of the room as it is still under a heavy layer of dust as well as the other signs of disrepair. Still, the throne gleams under a single ray of light from a broken window. Looks pretty awesome too – not sure what I expected but the Inquisition's Avvar Throne is obvious in hindsight.

There I did flash step, don't want to go through all the rubble. And finally I sit.

Hmm, surprisingly comfy.

Welcome to Skyhold!

Why, thank you.

Hub Menu:

[Map] [Customization] [Forces] [Overview] [Guide]

My first pick is rather clear, [Guide] it is. To my slight disappointment it is nothing really new, just expanding on what was in the description. It was mostly about the return function. And speaking of return, apparently now I can teleport to Skyhold with a simple command. Not that is really needed since I can teleport but I guess this is an excellent function for someone who does not. I can also access my Hub when in a different universe – that means all of Skyhold but I can't really interact with the rest of DA while 'away'. Not exactly sure how that will work but I guess I'll see.

Withdrawing from the tab, I select the map to get it out of the way. It shows both a local map, Skyhold, and a world map. Handy, really handy, but I want to get to those customizations.

Forces is interesting too – it shows my population, all the numbers, all my troops in nice little neat categories. Cool.

Overview is pretty much player statistics and some other little stuff. I guess I will have to look into it properly later, but right now I can finally go where the most excitement is. Customizations.

The tab unfolds and immediately I note several other tabs. I do so love System for being so organized. The big tabs are [Utility], [Comfort], [Defense] and [Storage]. I'm also helpfully shown my gold and credits. Not that I really intend to dip into those funds if I can help it.

Selecting Utility my heart flutters – several options are free! I look at the options more closely and I have to nod – of course they are free, I already built them on my own. My workshop. As such I have the forge, smithy, enchanter's table and workshop labeled 'free'. I'm kinda curious if clicking on them will change something…

Guess I'll see soon since I'm already pressing buttons.

Going further down I note several other interesting items, like the alchemist station for example. There are also less specialized things like a library, not sure if it's already furnished or not, cells or even a torture chamber. I guess it is utility…

Moving on, I peruse the other tabs, clicking or any free items which right now are some storage spaces, a few bedrooms, a basic garden. A nice surprise is that the 'main' rooms, the throne one and the master bedroom, are free too. Sure, they can be upgraded, but at least they are not falling apart anymore.

There are definitely some choices I'll be purchasing as soon as I can – stables, war room, armory, towers, outer walls, kitchens… even those archives look nice. Yeah, I'm kinda loving this. And eventually, I'm getting all of it. And to be honest, it looks pretty easy. Like the walls – I just need a certain amount of stone, wood and money. Easily found. A few shopping trips with Haku and I'm set. And I can do my own magical defenses, I don't need to pay for most of them. The list actually gives me some nice ideas, I already have plenty of free options and I will be adding to them. Why pay for something you can do just as well.

Still, having Skyhold as a home base does not mean I'm going to be neglecting Ostagar. Or any other city I decide to lift up. Skyhold is mine but Ostagar is for all the Alamarri. And foreign envoys. I want them to see our might, and our civility as well as barbarian charm.

Speaking of, I guess I should get back and organize things with Haku. And I could invite all the Servants over to take a look at the new and improved Skyhold. Ok, it's basically just a chair and some clean-up, but whatever. It's still new and cool.

One [Teleport] later and I'm back, ready to find me some stone. I want to test things a little, like what stone and what are the amounts. There is a lot of debris and bigger chunks left over from the Ostagar of before, us having cleaned it up by piling all that stone away from view. Now it will come in handy to work out the resource mechanic.

Maybe first I could call Haku first, him being the keeper of my map. He'll know a quarry or two that I could steal from.

'Haku, could you…'

'One moment, Fia-sama'

I blink. Okayyy?

… I impatiently tap my boot on the snow-stained ground. The fuck?

'My sincerest apologies, Fia-sama. The matter has now been resolved'

'And what matter would that be?' I ask, trying to get my irritation out of the mental link.

'Unannounced visit from my brethren of a bird persuasion'

I frown before my expression clears 'Antivan Crows?'

'Indeed, Fia-sama' Haku's satisfied voice, either at his ability to catch assassins or his attempt at a joke, comes through our connection, 'We are holding them in the dungeon with that old Tevinter statue still intact outside.'

'I'm on my way'

Flash Stepping is always fun and the best way to get around if you don't know your destination well, and you don't need to look impressive flying or take in the scenery. Plus people barely see you. Sucks for the Crows they have to get around the vanilla human way.

So, Loghain has made his move. I'm going to confirm but it is surely him that paid the Crows. Or maybe he got it as a freebie since they already failed once, with Zevran getting caught by the Wardens and even betraying his employers. Anyway, after this, the Crows are out. Loghain won't suffer failure twice. That means it will be soldiers next, regular troops. Spring is nearly here and with the thaw, things are going to pick up. After a period of training, relaxing and building, Origins will be soon back in play.

I don't mind at all actually, moving things along. I did most of what I wanted to and some things simply take time. But my people are well equipped and even better trained despite being more fighters than soldiers. I am a little concerned for them to go against cavalry but that is what the Fereldens are for. And I did drain one of Loghain's commanders to get his knowledge of tactics revolving around horses - we'll need that once the Chantry and Orlais come knocking.

Me and my Servants are ready too, not that my Servants really need the training. But some exp is always nice and they did some Stat raising. But what I was talking about was equipment. I still am not where I want to be with Blacksmith but it is getting there, I am limited by the materials I can find more than anything else. Still, I forged some really nifty armor, and cheated a bit with engineer for some hidden surprises, all of them tailored for the Servant they are for. Margit is the avoid tank, Haku the stealthy defubber/cc and Karasuba is pure dps. Weapons were a bit more problematic since only the Sekirei uses one as the main means of attack. Despite that I also forged gauntlets for Margit and some really cool needles for Haku (since he throws them I gave some them a returning-to-hand feature that the ninja really took to the next level and manages obscene amount of damage by simply positioning himself well).

I have new armor too – a beautiful and imposing set in deep indigo color. With the light fur cloak it looks really majestic, if I do say so myself. And the Stats are delightful. The enchantments I kept basic for now, waiting for inspiration of what is most needed. I definitely think I make an impression. Now let's see if the Antivans will appreciate it.

Two of my scouts, one Avvar and one elf, are standing outside of the cell that Haku indicated so my destination is clear. With a respectful nod the guards let me in, my Servant already alerted to my presence through our bond. To my surprise Haku is not the only Servant here, Karasuba is also in attendance. And Hedwig. I have absolutely zero idea why my familiar is here, on Karasuba's shoulder of all things, or why she is creepily staring at the two bound men. Or why the two Crows seem most unsettled by said owl.

"Good afternoon everybody" I greet lightly all three, getting a grunt, a hoot and a bow in return. The prisoners remain silent. A bit of a difference to game Zevran who started running his mouth as soon as he woke up bound.

"Fia-sama" Haku takes charge of explaining things, "I caught these two on the inner perimeter doing a fairly good job of sneaking in."

"Not good enough it seems" I chuckle, "Speaking of jobs, an excellent one on your part, Haku."

"I live to serve, Fia-sama"

Karasuba rolls her eyes to accompany her quiet snort. I turn to her "What about you, how did you get to this?"

The sekirei shrugs, Hedwig moving with her shoulders but seemingly completely unbothered about it, "Saw him drag them here and it looked like fun."

Fair enough. Once more I turn to Haku "Did you get anything of import from them?"

"I have not yet tried, Fia-sama" Haku bows towards me minutely.

"They are freshly caught" the sekirei sniggers, "But we can try, looking forward to it actually."

I shake my head "Sorry but no, I will look into this myself. Perhaps we could also find some use for them. After they are of a different mind of course."

"Different mind, funny" the ashen-haired Servant acknowledges my little pun and starts towards the door, "Since this suddenly turned boring I'm going to head towards the training ground. Maybe today someone will grow a pair and challenge me."

"Don't break anybody, I need them" I wave at her over my shoulder, my attention already on my captives.

"You need strong warriors, not wussies" Karasuba snorts, "Like me and mighty hunter here."

Hedwig replies with a smug hoot.

That makes me blink in confusion a look after them but the unlikely duo is already out of the door. With that I turn to Haku for an explanation. He only gives me an uncertain shrug. Alright… Karasuba and Hedwig being buddies is a thing. Ok. Better to move on.

All this time the two Crows did not utter a sound but it's not like I need them to, is it? Not when [Deep Scan] is concerned. And it is, concerned I mean. I target the longer-haired fellow on the left and go to town on his brain.

As always I don't really know just how much time I spend inside a target's mind but the results are worth it. He is indeed a Crow, he and his partner were indeed hired by Loghain, and indeed I was the target. But of course that is not all I learn, the details are very important. As is how Crows work in actuality, in the games we only got a brief summary. It is also good to know just how skilled those two fellows are, and what buttons can I push – after all, I will be subverting them to my cause. Mind Mage for the win. It will take some time, unless I want mindlessly obedient zombies which I don't, but I can simply keep this two under lock and key until they see things my way. After a generous helping of mind-fucking, of course. It will be a good experiment too.

But first, let's fact check things with the other assassin.

"Your orders, Fia-sama?" Haku asks when I finally emerge, absently rubbing my brow from the gentle headache I usually get from the Skill, maxed or not.

"Separate them and keep them locked up, I have something I want to try," I reply, "Otherwise business as usual, it is unlikely there will be more coming but I trust you'll keep an eye out."

"And Loghain?"

I smirk, checking both Antivans are currently unconscious, "Let the fact he ordered an assassination, a failed assassination, spread. And that he hired foreigners for the job. I'll mention it in Denerim a few times too."

"You're going to Denerim?"

"Yes, I think a visit to Anora is in order. Spring is almost upon us and Loghain has made an overt move. It is time to move things along"

The Mist ninja gives me another small bow. I smile at him and leave him to transport one of the Crows out of the cell. Or maybe both, into smaller ones? I don't really care, I'll deal with them once I come back. Right now I'm off to Denerim.

I don't dally, after all I didn't really have any concrete plans so I might as well go visit my favorite queen. I fire a quick message to Margit, she gets overly worried and her 'I'm not angry I'm disappointed' look is clear even through her mask. I'm pretty proud of that mask by the way, it's a Mk III and pretty awesome. Both in enchantments and appearance. I really struck the right balance between hot and mysterious, not to mention practical.

As usual I don't head straight for the castle but I make a detour towards the Chantry. After my success with the priest at a brothel, not to mention the hoarding and the general suspicion, I started working on this one older sister that is known to be close to the Grand Cleric. Which by the way is a canny old lady. I've been prodding this sister long enough that she's almost to the point of attacking a 'heathen' in broad daylight – she already preaches the equivalent of old testament fire and brimstone, and that kinda irritates some people, especially in the midst of a Blight. Those people will be perfect targets of her mad ranting and attack. Muhaha.

Let's see if I can make it happen today.

I arrive in the square to find a largish crowd gathered and my favorite sister up on the metaphorical soapbox. The perfect setting.

"…the Maker has abandoned us for being wicked, we must be strict with ourselves and our fellows…"

Hm, that's fairly benign, she must've only just started. Let's fire her up a little.

"…the darkness comes for us, the Maker has seen fit to punish us and still we have not…"

Perhaps some more.

"…all people must look inside themselves, confront their inner greed, lust, envy and…"

Ohh, this one is good. Not exactly what I was going for but it will serve just as well.

Where before there were unhappy murmurs in the crowd there now was one loud derisive snort. I make the sister focus on that, just a little push.

It probably wasn't even needed, the sister sharply turning to confront the man, her face an affronted sneer mirroring the sneer on his own. The words 'greed' and 'lust' were poorly chosen on her part, after what has been happening inside the Fereldan Chantry. The little scandals me and mine have caused. And now, fresh in the minds of the populace, can be aired to great effect.

The man, despite being singled out, does not back down, listing all the Chantry failings. The sister, now properly in the 'zone' so to speak, is really going at him. It's fantastic, and I'm not even doing much. Just making them stand their ground. And as the arguments grows big and loud, doing the same to his friends and the other people in the crowd that are of a similar mind, all now fiercely glaring at the old sister.

I love it. Fight! Fight! Fight!

My wish gets fulfilled. One younger member of the clergy sees what's happening and approaches the old sister, intent on pulling her back. She gets there too late, the sister throwing herself against the dissenters.

The flailing old frail-ish lady trying to punch a man almost twice her size is hilarious - to me – to the others it was merely confusing. Credit to them, nobody fought back, going for containment instead. The sister looks pretty horrible – spitting and hissing and shouting about heathens… An excellent imagery. I will definitely make sure this stays on the people's minds.

Isn't it great when things go to plan?

My work here done, it is time to move to the palace. I'm here to visit the queen after all.

To my slight annoyance I have to wait as Anora is surrounded by servants. Or more precisely, tailors. Apparently being a queen in semi-captivity doesn't exempt you from extravagant dresses. Curious, to be honest – I never saw Anora in anything so elaborate. Does Loghain plan a celebration? Or this is just the run of the mill wardrobe update?

Lounging on a nearby chain, invisible of course, for quite a while, waiting for the woman to finish up with the clothes makes me feel like a husband at a department store. Oh well, at least the servants have gossip to share, both out loud and not. Anora too is using them to gather information for her, juggling their precarious position of being spies for three people (at least) at once very well.

Finally though, the ordeal is done. The queen has three new dresses in the making and her own personal maid is bringing her a snack. And tea. I hope she will be dismissed because I could go for a cuppa.

Since it seems Anora is in the mood for company, I enter the queen's mind to help dismiss the maid myself. A quick nudge, and the elf is out the door. I was already patient enough.

As usual I initiate the precautionary wards, after all I don't want us overheard or even caught. Then I reveal myself behind her to make her jump. That always amuses me. Yes, I'm easy this way.

"Lady Fia!" Anora squeals before taking a deep breath to calm herself, "I see you are as polite as ever."

"I am sorry to drop by unannounced" I say in my most cultured voice. That gets me a highly suspicious look, Anora clearly unsure whether I was mocking her or not. Which I was, just to make that clear. Still, she decides it does not matter in the end because she has a far more important topic for me.

"Speaking of dropping by unannounced, my father has been in contact with the Antivan Crows" the blonde endears herself to me both with the information and the pun. Mainly the pun. "Howe brought them around."

"Ah" I nod seriously. Which is a bit of a feat since I'm itching to ask if it was for free. After all, he is owed one assassination, the Crows did fail against the Wardens.

"Do be very careful, I'm not keen on you dying now" Anora purses her lips.

I smile, genuinely smile at her, taking her aback a little "Thank you. You will be heartened to know then, that an attempt by the Crows has already been made. And foiled. Earlier today actually."

"Oh" is the slightly disappointed answer – she did want to curry some favor by giving me this information, and now it has proven useless.

But.

But it is true that she in fact did deserve a reward for that. And… well, I have been keeping her cooped up here mostly so that she knows her future is tied with mine. And I was waiting for the Wardens to finally emerge from the Deep Roads. Which will be any day now, for sure. Perhaps… yes, perhaps it is time.

My attention returns to the young queen and once more I smile, this time more mischievously, "Which is excellent since that means Ostagar will be safer for some time. Until Loghain and Howe come up with a new plan of attack. Perhaps then you could come visit, before I leave you Arl Bryland? He is the one you have me pass most letters to, correct?"

Anora's eyes gleam. It makes her look doubly attractive. And her reply is quite swift indeed, though without appearing too eager or desperate "He is. Have the Grey Wardens been sighted then?"

"Not quite yet," I admit, "But they are expected any day now. You leaving will leave Teyrn Loghain in quite a tizzy but I think we can handle it now."

Anora nods quite regally "I agree it is high time I take the leadership of my people firmly into my hands once more."

"Quite" I nod with equal seriousness.

"When?"

I shrug at the simple question "Whenever you are ready. The day after tomorrow perhaps? Later? I do need to alert the nobles to gather but I'd like to host you at Ostagar for a few days if you'd allow it."

"I would be quite interested in seeing Ostagar," the blonde inclines her head thoughtfully, "To see how much it has changed."

"You have seen it before? Or did you just mean the aftermath of a darkspawn siege?"

"I have actually seen it quite some time ago, my father took me. It was only a little detour from our ride but father insisted it is good to see. For any ruler, he said"

I hum "A testament to hubris? Or that all nations rise and fall?"

Anora allowed a small sigh "I never found out, he went all surly and his attention was soon elsewhere."

"Well then," I smile, "Allow me then to be your tour guide, I have read quite a bit on the Tevinter fortress that we took over. Both Ferelden, and Orlais during the occupation, have done nothing with the place, so that one is the only history worth hearing. And ours, of course. We might not have ancient books for it but our skalds are quite talented."

"I'm looking forward to it" the queen assures me, her face turning pensive, "As for my departure, give me three days. I have already made some preparations but I still need time. What about my personal maid, I assume I can bring her along."

Her tone is absolutely sure and ready to argue, but I just shrug, having counted on it "Of course. But only her. I am not so cruel to leave her here so she can be… interrogated about your whereabouts."

"She doesn't know anything" Anora replies quickly just as she thanks me for the consideration.

"Good" I smile. That Erlina doesn't know anything is a bit of my doing after all – the less people know I am talking to Anora, and that I plan on spiriting her away, the better.

Speaking of secrets, taking Anora will mean revealing my ability to teleport. I mean sure, I could modify her memories afterwards, but I think it will just hammer in the thought that she can't work against me. But Erlina I will make forget, for one I don't trust her very much, and for two it will be another show of force to Anora. Yes, I think I will do that. The queen is also smart enough to keep her mouth shut about it, at least at first.

"Hm?" I say rudely, having completely zoned off, "I apologize, Queen Anora, I was already thinking of the logistics of the relocation."

Anora, still a bit affronted at being ignored, made a gracious gesture and repeated herself. Funnily enough, it was logistics-related as well. We spent the next twenty minutes ironing out the details, and I promised to arrive three days from today after lunch. Almost like a date rather than a kidnapping. Then again, it is hardly a kidnapping when Anora is that eager to leave.

Though, perhaps us two are kidnapping poor Erlina all things considered…

Oh well. One good soak in my planned hot springs and she'll forget all about it. And if that won't help there is always Mind Mage.

Ha, that sentence sounds like a good name for this run. Not that I will likely have more, right? Is there a save game option?

'Syst…'

Nope

'Just checking'

AN: So, we return to Origins in the next chapter. Stay tuned for wardens, our best girls Morrigan and Leliana, Anora as well, and finally, finally, some fighting Loghain. Maybe the darkspawn will visit too...

See ya soon (ish)!
