Katherine Kavanagh has not been taken ill and interviewed Christian Grey. Can you imagine?
Well everything is in the title or almost. Romantic intrigue.
Everyone is meant to be with someone else.
I used some excerpts from book. Just needed this for the story.
Today, my friend, Katherine Kavanagh, editor of the college paper, has to interview a enigmatic CEO of Grey Enterprises Holdings Inc. She'll have to drive a hundred and sixty-five miles to downtown Seattle. It took her nine months to get it. His time is very precious and he doesn't waste his time on meaningless things. In her view. This should be something!
"It's a long drive. I don't want you to be late."she says, her anxious voice.
I can tell she is nervous. As she talks me, Kate gathers her leather satchel chocolate. She is always well dressed and a beautiful young woman. Black jeans, white blouse, her brown leather jacket and wears leather brown boots. Light and elegant for a bohemian rock look. Very stylish. She is brilliant, strong, persuasive, argumentative. My best friend and roommate.
"Calm down. Everything will be fine." I reassured.
"I hope."
We make a checklist in order to see if she've got everything.
"Do you have the questions and your mini-disc recorder?"
"Yes. "
I take her in my arms and give her a little pat on the back.
"I'm going now."
"Come on, smile."
"Yes. Wish me good luck."
"Well, good luck."
"Bye, Ana.
"Bye."
I smile wryly at her.
Having final exams to cram for, one essay to finish ...I'd better get to work. And I have to work this afternoon. Today is a busy day for both of us.
Kate sets off from Vancouver toward Portland and the I-5. Thankfully weather is good. She takes her sporty Mercedes CLK. It's a quarter to two when she arrives, relieved that she is not late. The headquarters of Grey's global enterprise is a huge twenty-story office building, all curved glass and steel, with Grey House written discreetly in steel over the glass front doors. A intimidating place for everyone. And it's a bit the same for her.
She then walks into the enormous glass, steel, and white sandstone lobby. Behind the desk, a young woman who looks like model, smiles graciously at her. Blonde looks perfect.
"Good morning. I'm here to see Mr. Grey. I'm Katherine Kavanagh."
"Wait a moment. I check.
"Okay."
A few seconds later, the young woman replies her she is expected.
"Please, sign here, Miss Kavanagh."
" I did."
"Fine. Take the last elevator on the right then press for the twentieth floor."
Kate smiles and thanks her. The blond hands her a security pass that has visitor on the front. She walks over to the elevator past the two security men who are both smartly dressed in their well-cut black suits. The elevator carries her to the twentieth floor. one or two minutes later, the doors opens and she in another large lobby with the same design. Kate heads to another desk and young woman who looks like model too.
"Is that a modeling agency?" she asks herself, her eyes wide
"Good morning. I'm Katherine Kavanagh and I'm here to meet Mr Grey."
The young woman checks too."
"Yes. Can you wait one moment, please?
"Okay. Thanks." she replies, her confident tone.
The blond then points to a seat and Kate goes to sit. The building is clinical and modern.
"That's needs to use a splash of color." she thinks.
Soon after, a another very good looking-young woman and blond, walks towards Kate
" Surprise!" she said to herself wryly.
"Miss Kavanagh ?
"Yes?"
"Mr. Grey will see you in five minutes."
"Fine."
"Being on time ... Is it really important? Honestly! My time is greatly precious too. she think, a little bit upset. After that long drive, it's understandable.
Kate is a sweetheart, generous but she has a temper and knows what she wants.
"Have you been offered any refreshment?"
"Huh? Why not. A tea, please."
"Ginger, lemon, Ear Grey ...
"Ginger."
"I"ll bring you that, Miss."
"Thank you." she smiles, thinking it's nice.
"Grey. That's funny."
Two minutes later, she brings her a cup of Ginger tea.
"Thank you."
Kate drinks a few slips.
"That tea is delicious." she thinks, her spakling eyes.
Five minutes later, a male voice says a cordial hello.
"Good afternoon ladies. "
The voice is polite and sounds kind.
"Is it .. Christian Grey?" she questioned.
She has no time to know it right now because a another very good looking-young woman in her 20's, says her; " Mr. Grey will see you now, Miss Kavanagh. Do go through. "
Kate gives her the empty cup, gets up from leather seat and follow the blond.
"You don't need to knock , just go in."
"Okay."
She smiles her. Kate then open the door of office with confidence as always.
"Good morning, Mr Grey. I"m Katherine Kavanagh."
He turns and smiles her. His dark eyes ... She realizes something even if she already knows.
"He is so young!" she thinks, so astonished. "And also attractive!"Astonished again.
""Miss Kavanagh. Nice to meet you."
He walks toward her and shakes her hand.
"Huh? Sorry. Nice to meet you too."
"You sound surprised."
"Well .. To be honest .. Yes. You're so young to be head of that company."
He stares at her and a little smiles escapes but he doesn't reply.
"Have a seat, Miss Kavanagh."
He's tall, dressed in a fine gray suit, white shirt, and black tie. His colored hair is unruly dark copper. He has intense and bright gray eyes that regard her. It's like looking into her soul. His voice is warm but expression on his face is impassive. His office is big with the floor-to-ceiling windows, a huge modern dark-wood desk. Everything else is white except, on the wall by the door, where a mosaic of small paintings hang, thirty-six of them arranged in a square.
He sinks then into one of the white leather chairs opposite her. Next, she sits down in front of him and opens her satchel. She tooks the mini-disc recorder from, turn on and puts on the desk.
"Do you mind if I recorder the interview, Mr Grey?" she asks politely.
"No,on the contrary. It'll be easier."
Kate smiled, relieved again and glad.
Why this interview? To appear in the graduation issue of the student newspaper. Christian Grey is major benefactor of our University and shall be conferring the degrees at this year's graduation ceremony. He is 27 years.
Several question asked and he always replied with greater confidence and efficiency for great the pleasure of Kate who brilliantly conducted the interview. She would make a awesome journalist and tenacious. Very pro and no personal thoughts was said out loud.
Much later, when the interview is completed, they get up from their respective seat and shake hands.
"Thank you for the interview, Mr. Grey."
"Thank you, Miss Kavanagh for this unusual, unique interview."he says, polite.
"You're very young to have amassed such an empire. To what do you owe your success?"
"Business is all about people, Miss Steele, and I'm very good at judging people. I know how they tick, what makes them flourish, what doesn't, what inspires them, and how to incentivize them. I employ an exceptional team, and I reward them well." He pauses and fixes me with his gray stare. "My belief is to achieve success in any scheme one has to make oneself master of that scheme, know it inside and out, know every detail. I work hard, very hard to do that. I make decisions based on logic and facts. I have a natural gut instinct that can spot and nurture a good solid idea and good people. The bottom line is, it's always down to good people."
He's so arrogant and he sounds like a control freak.
"And do you have any interests outside your work?"
"I have varied interests, Miss Kavanagh.Very varied."
It sounded strange when he said that.
"Do you have a philosophyIf so, what is it?"
"I don't have a philosophy as such. Maybe a guiding principle - Carnegie's: 'A man who acquires the ability to take full possession of his own mind may take possession of anything else to which he is justly entitled.' I'm very singular, driven. I like control - of myself and those around me."
Possess things ... It was still sounded strange.
"Have you had to sacrifice a family life for your work?"
"I have a family. I have a brother and a sister and two loving parents. I'm not interested in extending my family beyond that."
He was adopted. And that surprised, inappropriate question she asked. God! Kate! Why? She wasn't embarrassed.
"Are you gay, Mr. Grey?"
He cringed.
"No, Miss Kavanagh. I'm not."
He didn't pleased. For sure!
He opens the door and walks her to the elevator.
"Goodbye, and maybe we'll meet you again. And soon. "
Now, it sounds like a promise. Meet him again? She would say yes. He is handsome.
"Maybe, yes." she replies with a seductive voice."
" Miss Kavanagh ," he says as a promise again.
" Mr Grey," she replies with a sweet smile.
