ACT 2: CHAPTER 1

AN OPPORTUNE MOMENT

"Again!" Madara's commanding voice ordered, standing with his arms crossed as he glanced across a small field, Gray and Natsu standing opposite to him while Erza and Lucy stood behind him.

"Damnit!" Gray shouted in frustration as he slammed his left fist into his right palm. "ICE MAKE: LANCE!" He roared, formaing several lances out of Ice which quickly flew at the Uchiha veteran. Simultaneously to the lances, Erza had requipped into her Heaven's Wheel Armor and fired a large number of blades at Madara.

Activating his Sharingan, Madara turned his body with swift elegance towards left, reaching one arm up to grab one of the ice lances and one of the swords with the other and used them to parry and deflect the oncoming projectiles. While he was defending himself, he suddenly leapt up, dodging a leg sweep from Natsu, rotating his body along all 3 axis so he ended up upside down, thrusting the caught blade and ice lance at the Dragon Slayer, who evaded the attack by shooting fire from his legs like thrusters. But he did not quit there. Natsu followed up by redirecting his legs so the thruster-like flame boost flipped him and he struck at Madara with an axe-kick, which Madara caught by the ankle before flipping Natsu straight into Gray, toppling the two men.

Erza took that chance to change into her Black Wing Armor and went into the offensive, swinging the large cuirass blade with short and precise strikes at the Uchiha, who however flawlessly evaded every attempt at being cut by her. His eyes suddenly went downward and he leapt up, drawing his legs in just in time to avoid an under-earth grab by Virgo, whom Lucy summoned with her Celestial Spirit Key. Madara then whipped his head backwards to initiate momentum, rotating his body into a backflip, increasing the distance between him and Erza.

The Requip mage then changed into her Purgatory Armor and leapt up, swinging down at the Uchiha with her large, spiked mace, which Madara evaded by stepping aside. However, as he did that, he suddenly felt his legs being stuck, seeing that they were frozen against the ground, courtesy of Gray. His eyes then turned to Erza, who lifted her mace and readied to swing it sideward and strike the Uchiha at his side. He however leaned himself back, using the solid hold of the ice to not fall while he bent himself backwards by his knees, letting the mace fly right over him harmlessly. This was followed up by reaching out with one arm to grip the mace at the base, drawing Erza in close before his other hand delivered a powerful hook into her stomach, followed by an uppercut to the chin, throwing her back with the force of the strike.

"WIDE OPEN!" Natsu roared as he engulfed both his hands into his flames and prepared to swing down on the Uchiha. "FIRE DRAGON'S TALON!" He roared as his hands descended, ready to use the flames to claw into Madara, but he instead reached his hands up and grabbed Natsu by the one weakpoint of his attack, his shoulders, digging his thumbs into the Dragon Slayer's collar at a precise spot to inflict pain right against the nerve connecting to the muscle, causing a spontaneous stop of both arms. Then Madara moved his arms to grab Natsu by the waist and flipped himself backwards again, slamming his head into the ground with the use of a Suplex, cratering the ground slightly with the force used.

"Enough" Madara commented before casually ripping his feet free from the ice, shaking them slightly before dusting his right shoulder off. "I have a basic understanding of your strengths and weaknesses now and can tell you right away where your flaws lie."

The four magicians recovered quickly and nodded slowly, approaching Madara before standing in a horizontal line before him.

Madara pointed at Lucy first. "You simply need to increase your endurance and magic pool. Your spirits are useful, but by their lonesome they are more meant for pure utility than anything. You need to practice how to summon two at once within a fight and make it useful. Next to that, you should get used to the idea of learning something to defend yourself. A Celestial Spirit Mage's greatest weakness is their entire person. Once you are taken out, all your spirits are automatically void."

He then went for Gray. "Your main weakness is speed. Your Maker Magic has an intervall within which your opponents can intercept you. And since your Maker Magic is always executed from your hands, as long as one keeps good track of those, they can predict your moves very easily and prepare a counter-attack."

His next feedback went for Erza. "Similarily to Lucy, what you need primarily is a larger magic pool and more endurance. Your Armor collection is vast and rich in strengths, but some of them take out a lot from you in a short time. Additionally, your requip speed needs to increase so you can change armors mid-move and throw your opponent off."

And last but not least, he turned his gaze towards Natsu. "Where to begin with you... your attacks are predictable, as is your entire personality. Keeping track of your movements is insultingly easy. Additionally, your attacks come down to pretty much enhanced hand-to-hand combat with a few exceptions such as your breath attack or your headbutt, as such your magic strength is only half your combat prowess. You need to learn some proper close combat etiquette and I think I know just where to begin."

The four listened closely to the review Madara gave of their abilities and all of them gave their own individual sign of approval, except for Natsu, who was just grumbling annoyedly. And of course, a certain bluehaired girl hidden behind the bushes was being furious on Gray's behalf.

"Do you all have a moment?" Came a sudden voice and everyone turned to the source, seeing that it was none other than Loke, who had a few tickets in his hands. "I still didn't get around thanking you, Lucy, as well as everyone else."

Gray let out a small scoff and gave the man a weak pat on the shoulder. "I had no idea you were a celestial spirit, but it's good to know you won't die on us after all."

Loke gave an approving smile and lifted the hand with a total of 5 tickets. "Yeah. Well, as my token of gratitute, I wanted to give you these."

"What would that be?" Madara questioned as he took one of the tickets while the others took the remaining ones.

"These are tickets for a vacation at the Akane Resort. I planned to go there with a few of my girlfriends, but since I broke up with them all and still need to recover within the Celestial Spirit Realm, I don't have any use for those anymore, so I am gifting them to you."

"Sweet!" Lucy then responds with a joyous voice, to which she receives an agreeing nod from Erza, who heard of Akane resort before and knew of its reputation as a very expensive but incredibly luxurious and high-quality resort.

"Well, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to take a break" Madara then commented, crossing his arms and letting out an indifferent sigh before handing the ticket back to Lucy. "You may allow yourselves a vacation. I however have to attend a meeting with the Council and will be headed for Era in a short moment."

The surprise in these news made everyone arch their brows up in curiosity. "Huh?" They questioned together before Erza decided to be the voice of the group. "Are you in trouble because of something?"

The Uchiha shook his head and shrugged. "Nah, the reason for the summon has not yet been stated, but I have been told that the Wizard Saints will also be present, so whatever it is, with what I have learned, it has to be important so I cannot miss out on it."

A whistle then took everyone's attention away and their heads turned, quickly causing a reaction of united fury at the source. It was none other than Laxus Dreyar, Grandson to Makarov Dreyar and a prodigal S-class Wizard. And he is currently a subject of increasingly harsh criticism from pretty much the entire guild for his spiteful, condescending attitude he had been throwing at everyone. The reason his behaviour was tolerated was because he was Makarov's grandson and because the belief was still present that it might just be a tough guy act, however latter was increasingly fading as over the years, the blonde Lightning Wizard had become increasingly volatile and hazardous with his choice of words. "Heh, to think the newbie would be receiving such an invite..."

"Laxus..." Erza grit her teeth in anger, still remembering how harshly the man spoke about the guild right after Phantom Lord had attacked them.

Madara just shrugged again, showing complete disinterest in the tall blonde, much to his annoyance. "Whatever you have to say probably isn't important considering you can flaunt an attitude as your opener." To this, Laxus grit his teeth from the provocation, but the Uchiha wasn't done. "And considering what I have heard about you, what you do have to say might just be provocation, so just buzz off and annoy someone else."

Laxus was seething for a moment, but then his demeanor broke into a chuckle followed by a crazed smirk. "Talk all you want, newbie. Soon you will know your place just like the others do." He responded while turning around and walking away.

"Troublesome child" Madara commented while uncrossing his arms and waving the others. "Well then, I will be going now. You enjoy yourselves at the Akane Resort."

While Madara was walking off, he crossed his arms once again and tightened his grip on his arms while looking ahead with a serious expression. "I don't know why, but something tells me I should hurry up with that meeting..."

Erza at first walked together with the others towards the guildhall to report they would take the vacation, but turned around for a moment to glance at Madara's disappearing back. She wanted to say something to herself, but quickly stopped her thoughts while shaking her head. "Thank you for your guidance so far." she thought before she turned her attention towards her guildmates once again.

Era, 2 days Later

Within record time, Makarov and Madara arrived within the city where the Council held its current headquarters for Fiore. This was in no small part due to Madara utilizing his imperfect, yet full-bodied Susano'o, which's top speed at a sprint was easily twice that of the trains. This allowed him to cover the distance at a time shorter than anything other than teleportation or superspeed-type magic. However, he did drop himself and Makarov off a couple hours away from Era and walked the rest by foot as to not reveal Madara's ability just yet.

"Now then, let us make haste. The Council is an impatient one even without Fairy Tail being involved" Makarov spoke with a small hint of pessimism in his voice. He really didn't like dealing with the Council, the only reason he found it tolerable enough to do his job was because of Siegrein's all around tolerant nature and his good friend Yajima always sticking up for him and drawing silver linings whenever Fairy Tail is in the discussion.

"Bureaucracy is a concept I am not unfamiliar with" Madara responded with, his voice betraying a hint of disinterest, but not the bored kind, but the 'man, I really don't want to deal with this' type. "I have been, for a good while, the leader of my Clan and was co-leader of the Village until they had chosen a Hokage, a Village Head, and even then I served as an advisor until I left. If there is one thing I am sadly used to, it is how annoyingly audacious politics can be."

"Indeed" The short-grown elder responded while they walked past the front gates of the massive Council HQ building.

There, they were quickly stopped by a lizardman-like figure who was clad in a rather semi-heavy, well covering set of plate armor and carried an average polearm at his side. "Halt. State your business!"

Makarov rubbed his temples in slight frustration. "I hate this formality. We've seen each others so many times we are on a first name basis, yet I STILL need to do this?"

The lizardman-like knight just silently nodded his head. "Orders are Orders. Here, at the HQ, the standart needs to be upheld above all else."

"Very well..." Fairy Tail's Master responded while donning a more serious face. "As a member of the 10 Wizard Saints, I have been summoned for a gathering with the Council. And as the subject of the gathering, I have brought with me Madara Uchiha, Fairy Tail's newcomer mage."

The lizardman-like knight nodded his head and waved at them to follow him. "The Council and the Saints await you. This way, if you will." It spoke in a formal and neutral tone while guiding them towards a hall that was larger than the usual Council Room.

This one had an elipse-ish design, with the top and bottom of the circular shape being stretched lenghily. 20 seats were orderly arranged at both sides, 10 for the Council members and 10 for the Saints. The seat for the Subject of Matter was at the bottom of the circle, where the entrance to the hall was located. And from that seat on, the Wizard Saints and the Councilors were rowed upwards from the lowest seat number / lowest Saint rank to the highest respectively, meaning the Chairman and God Serena, the number 1 of the 10 Wizard Saints, were seated at the very top, furthest away from the seat for the Subject of Matter.

Makarov wordlessly went towards his seat from the Wizard Saints, which was the 5th Seat, thus making it 9 out of 10 seats covered, while the Councilors had all been standing up and only sat down now that the last attendee has arrived. Madara walked towards his supposed seat, but rather than sit down on it, he stood behind it and leaned his arms against its headrest.

The Chairman, the ever formal Crawford, however remained standing and tapped his staff once against the ground to incite silence. "We have gathered today for a matter of high importance, a matter that has created itself as a consequence of the falling out between Fairy Tail and Phantom Lord. With Phantom Lord disbanded and Jose imprisoned for violating the 'Conducts of Peace', Section 4, Paragraph 7e, stating that Guilds are not allowed to engage in all-out combat or wage war against one another except in the case of evidence beyond legal doubt being provided that the target victim Guild has engaged in forbidden activities ranging from black market trading, conspiring with other countries, practices of black magic, human trafficing and other serious violations of the 'Conducts of Peace', he has also been stripped from his title as a Wizard Saint. We are here to decide on whether or not this spot shall be filled and which rank within the Wizard Saints shall be proposed to the Subject of Manner..." He explained before turning to the Uchiha. "That being today's invitee, Madara Uchiha, newest member within Fairy Tail, and by several eye-witnesses from both parties being confirmed as the one who took down Jose without exerting his full might." After he had spoken, he sat down and pointed with his staff towards Makarov. "Makarov Dreyar, 5th within the ranks of the Wizard Saints, master of Fairy Tail and protector of Madara Uchiha, what is your evaluation of this man's power?"

Makarov stood up and used his Titan Magic to elongate his legs so he could stand tall enough to be seen by all the present people before he spoke. "It is difficult to grasp the full potential of this capable man. While a fight would be most necessary to provide proof of what I am about to say, I dare claim that he is without the shred of a doubt the strongest person in this room right now."

"HAH!" One of the Councilors suddenly said with a tone that was filled to the brim with annoyance and some rage. That councilor was Michello, an elderly cat-like man with all the catperson features, such as the ears, whiskers and tail. "YOU WANNA TELL ME THAT FAIRY TAIL WANTS A GOD OF ISHGAL!?" He proclaimed with outrage in his tone.

"Calm down, Michello" Siegrein said, much to the elderly catman's annoyance. "It is as Makarov said, such a claim is very bold and even somewhat rich in nerve. To challenge the throne of God Serena, who has been the strongest of the Saints for almost 2 decades, ever since he has been 8 years old, is an endeavor that only happens if someone is beyond suicidal or if there truly is truth in the claim."

"I have to agree with Maki here" Yajima added as well. "He wouldn't have said that if he really was sure. Fairy Tail as a whole may be the symbol of having some nerve when it comes to the Council as well as the Saints, but even he wouldn't go this far without substance behind it. What do you say to the manner, Gods of Ishgal?"

The current 4th seat, being one of the founders of Fairy Tail, an elderly man who looked like a tree, going by the name of Warrod Sequen, chuckled out, showing his ever so relaxed and nonchalant personality. "Well, I would say he sure is aiming high for being such a Youngster-"

Madara just narrowed his eyes slightly while thinking. "I'm older than half the people in this room..."

Warrod continued in the meantime. "I think we shouldn't laugh at his prowess."

Despite his carefree behaviour, that Warrod didn't make one of his infamously annoying 'just kidding' lines showed that he was serious in his claim. This made the current 2nd seat, Draculos Hyberion, shake his winegrail slightly before taking a sip from it. "I have to agree with Warrod. From what has been reported by witnesses, he has displayed the capability to destroy entire landmasses, such as when an as of yet unknown type of attack was unleashed by him to destroy the Phantom Lord guild, yet despite how large-scale his attack was, he demonstrated frightening precision by narrowing the destruction down to solely the Guildhouse. Not a single structure within those 6 kilometers between the two guilds' respective HQs had been destroyed, even thought the hill past the sea at Magnolia was quite literally sliced in half down the midde vertically. Not only has he a large amount of power, he has demonstrated great control with its usage, minimizing the destruction to just the intended target, which I might add is very untypical for Fairy Tail, considering their fees and reparations for collateral damages by themselves make up over 20% of Fiore's annual Gross Domestic Product."

God Serena, the throne-holder as the strongest of the Wizard Saints and thus being the officially titled strongest mage within the continent of Ishgal, just smirked brightly. "How very interesting. I do look forward to testing my strength against this man. The moment he walked into this room, every single hair on my body stood up and I felt the chill of death crawl down my spine. He's no joke, every pore on his skin radiates raw, untamed power and such a level of danger that I can barely contain my shaking in my seat."

For Serena to give such high praise was quite rare to see, both for the Saints as well as the Councilors. Crawford then took the word once again. "While deciding to grant the title of 'God of Ishgal' to Madara in the event of his victory seems to be agreed upon by both parties present, we still need to fell a decision when it comes to what rank he should be given in the face of defeat-"

His speech was interrupted when Madara suddenly started to laugh, and not just a low chuckle, but a very audible and hearty laugh, one that could be heard outside the chamber. It was a laugh that made it very clear what the Uchiha was conveying. Amusement at the very notion he could be defeated, ridicule at Crawford for suggesting said impossible notion as well as being a general taunt to everyone in the room. He took a good 20 seconds before he calmed down and glanced straight ahead at God Serena. "You are no pushover yourself. Then show me, 'God' Serena, what moves you got for this dance!"

"HALT!" Org interrupted, shooting up from his seat. "There will be no fighting within the Property of the Council! If you wish to settle this matter with impatience, you shall do so within the training grounds of the Rune Knights!"

Madara and Serena both smirked and responded at the same time with perfect timing. "Very well then!"

I don't like to make cliffhangers, but I feel just mean enough to do this to you guys lmao. R&R if you liked the read so far!
