James was shocked to see the name Peter Pettigrew suddenly appear on Sirius' map. "Uh...Mad-Eye, have a look at this."

Mad-Eye got up and stumped over to where James was standing. He took a look and exclaimed, "Pettigrew! I'll be damned! We've been searching for him for years now! What the hell is he doing at Riddle Manor in Little Hangleton?"

Wormtail struggled, trying to get out of the net so he could turn into his Animagus form, but it just seemed to grow tighter the harder he tried.

"Give it up, Wormtail," Sirius said. He turned to the other Aurors. "Wormtail's an Animagus, he can turn into a rat. That's why I threw that net over him because it keeps him from changing. And yeah, Frank, I know Mad-Eye's going to have my arse for breakfast."

Frank sent his Patronus to let Moody and Scrimgeour know that Chea and Ned would be bringing in a prisoner while he and Sirius waited at Riddle Manor for further instructions.

"Be sure and tell Mad-Eye not to take that net off of Pettigrew because it's the only thing preventing him from turning into his rat Animagus form," Sirius warned Chea and Ned.

"Will do," Ned said as he and Chea disapparated with Peter between them. In a few moments Moody's Patronus appeared, ordering them back to Auror headquarters. When they arrived, there was a lot of talking and other noise from the bullpen.

Sirius and Frank headed into Moody's office. Scrimgeour stood by Moody. Peter was seated in a chair in front of Mad-Eye's desk, still bound up in the net. "James, you know me," he pleaded. "I would never betray the Marauder's code like Remus and Sirius did."

"Shut up, Wormtail!" Sirius growled. "Neither Remus nor I betrayed anything. We grew up!"

"Wormtail's right," Jame argued. "He was the only one who stuck by me after you two took up with Snivellus. He's no Death Eater!"

Sirius looked at James in disbelief. "Do you realize that Pettigrew is the one responsible for You-Know-Who murdering your parents and planning to murder your son, Potter? He's the one who told You-Know-Who where Dumbledore had you stashed."

"There's one sure way to solve this and that's to have Pettigrew roll up his left sleeve," Chea pointed out. "If he's not a Death Eater, he won't have the mark."

"Peter doesn't need to prove he's not a Death Eater," James objected. "I know he isn't one!"

"I'd like to see some proof of that myself and not just your word, Mr. Potter," Rufus said.

"We'll have to stun him so when we take that net off him, he won't turn into a rat and escape," Mad-Eye said.

Peter squealed as Mad-Eye aimed his wand at him and said, "Stupify!"

Sirius and Ned quickly pulled the net off of Peter and Frank pulled up his left sleeve, exposing the dark mark. "Still think Pettigrew's not a Death Eater, Potter?" Frank asked.

James slumped down in a chair. His expression varied between shock and disbelief.

"Take him down and put him in a cell," Scrimgeour ordered. "All the cells have spells around them to prevent Animagus change."

Sirius levitated Peter and he and Ned left. When they returned, Sirius went into Mad-Eye's office and said, "I know I disobeyed your orders and you have every right in the world to ream my arse, but I couldn't let him go once I recognized him."

"I won't do anything this time, Black, as you know, we've been looking for Pettigrew for a long time, but disobey my orders again and I won't be so forgiving," Mad-Eye growled.

Word of Pettigrew's arrest spread quickly, The next morning, the headline in the Daily Prophet blared,'Pettigrew Captured and Will Stand Trial for Potter Murders!'

Severus and Lily already knew about Pettigrew's capture. Remus had flooed them after hearing it from Sirius. Alice and Frank had also done the same.

Severus shrugged and tossed the paper aside. "I don't see that they can charge Pettigrew with anything other than accessory to murder. Sure, he told Riddle where Dumbledore had the Potter's hidden, but it was Riddle who cast the Avada Kedavra that killed them."

"I don't know why Potter's so shocked that Pettigrew betrayed him," Lily said. "He and Sirius never treated him very nice and they bullied him whenever you weren't available, challenging him to do stuff they knew he couldn't do and then laughing when he failed. They made him into the perfect target for Riddle to snatch up. Somebody with no self-esteem or pride in themselves."

"Even before Potter and Sirius had their falling out, Potter took up with the junior Marauders rather than Pettigrew," Severus pointed out. "I'm sure Pettigrew was less than thrilled that Potter didn't choose him to replace Sirius."

The children came into the room and Severus hid the paper so Jamie didn't see it. "Can we take our book about the Muggle space flights with us tonight to the Lupin's so we can show them to Hunter and Amelia?" Harry asked. Remus had invited them to dinner yesterday when he had flooed them about Pettigrew.

"They're going to introduce us to their friends, too," Jamie added. "So Harry and me will have a lot of friends when we start Hogwarts."

Severus nodded. "That sounds fine. I'm sure they'll enjoy looking at them and meeting the other children who live at Nottingham Pines and The Haven sounds like an adventure to me." He looked at Harmony. "I know Hunter has introduced you to his friends."

"Yes, he did and they'll be going to Hogwarts, too, when we start," Harmony said.

Dumbledore had agreed to let the children from Nottingham Pines and The Haven attend Hogwarts a year ago.

Augusta had been put in charge of the tutoring programs at both complexes which was designed to get the children caught up to where a first year should be and had also designed tutoring programs for the older students.

"There were no problems with the first group of children suffering from Lycanthropy, attending Hogwarts. They simply went home to transform. Madam Pomfrey and Remus checked on them the next morning to make sure they were alright and she or Remus have always sent me an owl afterwards, letting me know if they think someone's Wolfbane needs tweaking or their dosage needs to be upped or lowered," Severus said.

"Tuney's been after him about allowing the Goblin children to attend Hogwarts if their parents so choose, also," Lily said.

"I don't see why they couldn't attend Hogwarts," Severus said with a shrug. "Except for the fact that their parents may not want them to, but I'm sure they appreciate Tuney fighting for them."

At six o'clock they flooed over to Nottingham Pines. "Welcome," Remus said as they stepped out of his floo. Whatever Missy had made for dinner smelled delicious!

Frank, Alice and Neville arrived a few minutes later. Neville went over to join the rest of the kids.

"Anybody care for a drink?" Remus asked.

"Lily nudged Severus who was carrying a bottle of Prince-DeLuca wine. "Sorry, Remus, I brought this over as a dinner gift."

Remus chuckled. "Well, I didn't think you normally carried a bottle of wine around with you, Sev."

Missy got dinner on the table with help from Alice and Lily. It was a pot roast with potatoes, carrots, and onions, salad, homemade bread rolls, and Black Forest cake for dessert.

"Mum, Dad, can we go outside so me and Amelia can introduce some of our friends to Harmony, Harry, Jamie, and Neville?" Hunter asked.

"Yes, go ahead," Missy replied. "But be back by eight."

"Thanks, Mum," Amelia called as they nosily made their way out of the apartment.

"So, what's the latest on Pettigrew?" Severus asked.

Remus shook his head. "Sirius said James was shocked to find out Peter was a Death Eater. I guess Scrimgeour's decided to let Peter cool his heels in a cell for a couple of days before they question him."

Frank nodded. "Mad-Eye thinks he'll be more willing to talk if he has a couple of days to think about going to Azkaban or possibly even being kissed."

Lily shook her head. "As much as I disliked Pettigrew, I really don't take any satisfaction in him going to Azkaban or being kissed. He's somebody who had no confidence and no self-esteem and that's why he followed the biggest Gryffindor bullies."

Remus, looking ashamed, said, "And I never defended him when James and Sirius were having a go at him anymore than when they were having a go at you, Sev and I was a Prefect, too."

"But you did try to help him with his studies, Remus," Lily said.

Remus shook his head. "A lot of good that did. Just at the point where I thought he was really starting to understand something, James would call him and off he'd go with him and Sirius."

"Pettigrew was a follower and when Potter dumped him, he decided to follow the biggest bully ever, Riddle, instead," Frank pointed out. "Remember how rank our dorm room used to get between Potter's, Black's, and Pettigrew's fart letting contests added to Pettigrew's overwhelming BO?"

"Merlin's hat! We could have used a couple of those Muggle gas masks!" Remus exclaimed. "You practically couldn't take a deep breath in our dorm unless you wanted to choke to death!"

"Consider yourselves lucky," Alice said. "Lily and I had to listen to MacDonald simper on and on about Potter. Remember that spell she cast on Potter after his betrothal to McKinnon was announced?"

"I heard about it, but I would have loved to have seen it," Severus chuckled.

"It was amazing!" Frank replied. "I never thought MacDonald had it in her!"

Remus shook his head. "First, James' underwear tightened up and then all of a sudden all his clothing exploded into confetti and he was left standing there starkers, except for his socks and shoes" Remus laughed.

"The funniest part was when McGonagall came in and saw Potter. You know, I always wondered if MacDonald went to McGonagall after casting that spell and told her there was a ruckus going on in common room and she was needed," Frank remarked. "Because McGonagall comes in just in time to catch Potter in his birthday suit."

"Now that was a sight for sore eyes!" Alice laughed.

"Not something I'd want to see," Missy said. "Having a picture of a naked Potter in my head for the rest of my life...eww!"

"If MacDonald did do what you say, Frank, then that's cunning worthy of a Slytherin," Severus pointed out.

"Has there been any sightings of Fenrir Greyback?" Frank asked.

Missy shook her head. She looked at Remus. "Not for at least five years."

Remus agreed. "Even before Riddle met his final end, we didn't see much of Greyback. He'd lost a lot of power when more and more of the people following him decided to abandon him and Riddle in favor of your Wolfbane Potion, food, and housing."

"We have food pantries in both building so it's never an issue if somebody needs food," Missy explained. "We also have a warning system set up so if Greyback or any of his cohorts come round, they'll be very sorry they tried."

"Are you planning to build anymore complexes, Sev?" Alice asked.

Severus nodded. "Yes I bought quite a bit of land back in 1978. There's enough land to build at least two more complexes. I know Augusta told me the Haven was getting near to full capacity."

"We're not getting quite as many immigrants now since you and Dumbledore got the werewolf hunting stopped," Remus said.

"Many of the ones that have come here since it stopped are afraid it may start up again," Missy said.

"There's an independent committee that checks up on the countries that previously had it, to make sure they're sticking to the agreement we made. They check about every six months and they just don't talk to the officials, they also travel around the country and talk to the communities of people suffering from Lycanthropy," Severus explained. "I set some rules for it, too. Number one, it can only be brewed by a top potion master or mistress. Two, it can only be charged a price if the person can afford it and it's to be given to them free if they can't. Three, it has a set price and no apothecary can raise it to make their business more money."

"I take it, you don't make all that much money off of it then?" Remus asked.

"I make enough," Severus replied. "I don't believe in charging an arm and leg for potions that people really need. I do the same with the Magical Access Potion. I'm fortunate that I don't need the money. My grandfather's estate provides us with all the money we'll ever need. He was a savvy businessman."

"Sev hates the spreadsheets he gets every month from the accountants that manage Tiberius' business interests," Lily teased. "Dad always comes over and help him with them."

"They give me a headache. After all this time I still can't figure them out!" Severus complained.

"Jamie looks much happier now than he ever did when he was still with the Potter's," Alice remarked.

Lily nodded. "He's come out of his shell quite a bit since we adopted him."

"I used to feel so bad for him when we were in the Three Broomsticks and we'd see the Potter's screaming at Rosmerta and her uncle because they had the audacity to present them with a bill," Missy said. "My only surprise is he didn't run away sooner."

"Nev tried to introduce himself and makes friends with Jamie one time," Frank recounted. "But Potter and the wife jerked him away and acted like Nev carried the Black Plague or something."

"That's because Nev is friends with Harry," Severus replied.

"That's what made me the saddest," Lily admitted. "That they wouldn't allow him even one friend."

"Jamie wants to change his appearance. He doesn't want to look like Potter anymore. He talked to us about it last week," Severus said.

"Is there a potion that can do that?" Remus asked.

"Yes, it's called Familia Sanguine, Family Blood, in English. When old man Potter was threatening to prevent us from adopting Harmony, we considered blood adopting her. My mum had told me about it years ago, but also told me it had been banned in the middle ages because of the possibility that an unfaithful witch might try to use the potion to pass off her illegitimate child as her husband's. I did finally find a copy of the formula in a book in the Potion College library. It's fairly easy to brew so I told Jamie we would do it over Christmas vacation."

"Jamie pointed out that if the Potter's came up with another crackpot scheme to hire another cretin to kidnap him, the kidnapper wouldn't know who to grab because Potter would have told them that Jamie looks just like him," Lily explained.

"Yeah, I remember that was the first thing out of his mouth the next morning after Jamie was born," Frank said. "I doubt Potter's going to have time to wipe his bum, much less think up another scheme to get Jamie back. He's under Mad-Eye's direct supervision and he's keeping Potter on his toes," Frank said.

"How was the football party with dad?" Lily asked.

"It was pretty good," Remus replied. "Reg is a pretty darn good cook. He said your mum taught him."

"Mum thinks all young men should learn how to cook whether they're Muggle or wizards." Lily replied with a laugh.

Frank laughed. "I didn't understand the game even though your dad said it was like Quidditch, but you play it on the ground rather than in the air, but it was fun watching Sirius, Reg, and Ned cheering with your dad whenever his team scored. I'll bet Mum would love to watch these games, too, if your dad could explain it to her."

Remus grinned. "They got so loud, I was afraid the neighbors were going to come over, pounding on the door."

"Ned was the one yelling the loudest, even louder than Sirius, Reg, and Hal," Frank laughed.

"I don't think I ever told you this after Sirius told it to me," Remus said. "About James' attempt to buy an automobile after he saw yours that time…"

"When he cast that tracking spell on me before our seventh year," Lily said.

"Yes, he saw Severus' car and decided that's what he needed and then you'd come running to him. Now we all know James knows little or nothing about Muggles so he had no idea where you'd even get one," Remus started chuckling. "He decided to ask Mundungus Fletcher if he could find an automobile like yours. Of course, Mundungus said no problem, he'd bring it by the next morning."

Severus laughed. "Even if Fletcher could've found an Aston-Martin dealer ship, knowing him, he would have shrunk a car, put it in his pocket, and presented it to Potter and if Potter ever figured out how to drive it, he would have been arrested for either car theft or for driving without a license."

"Well, James runs out the next morning expecting to see a sleek sport's car like yours and instead, sitting in the driveway, is this "piece of crap" as Sirius described it, that looked like it'd fall apart before it got down to the gate of Potter Manor. That isn't even the funniest part either. James jumps in and asks Mundungus how to make it go and he reached around the back of it and pulls out this bent rod of some sort, hands it to James, and says this way. He shows James where to stick the rod in the front and says he has to give it a good hard crank to get it started. After two or three attempts, it finally starts. Sirius claimed it sounded like a wounded Hippogriff. James jumps back in the front of it, but doesn't know what to do next. Mundungus tells him to put one foot on this pedal and points to this stick and says to pull it back, slowly, but you know James. He jerks the stick all the way back and then the automobile suddenly gives this loud boom…"

"It backfired…" Severus laughed. "Tobias had a car once that did that all the time."

"James screams and jumps out of it and Mr. and Mrs. Potter come bursting out their front door with their wands at ready, just in time to see this thing chugging down the driveway and crash into their front gate. Mundungus, of course, disapparated immediately. Sirius said he was laughing so hard he couldn't even get up off the front steps."

"Now that's priceless!" Severus laughed. "But so typical of Potter."

Frank, with a mischievous look on his face, said, "I think I'll ask Potter how his automobile is running on Monday."

"And having Mundungus disapparating when there's trouble, isn't any surprise either, considering he was always drunk and passing out while on patrol for Order," Lily said.

"I never could figure why Dumbledore kept him," Alice said. "He's completely useless."

"Supposedly, he told Dumbledore that he had street contacts who could keep him informed on You-Know-Who's movements," Frank replied. "But unless You-Know-Who's had taken to hanging out in the Hog's Head, he was just giving Dumbledore crap because that's where I always saw Mundungus when Chea and I were on patrol in Hogsmeade."

The children came back before eight. Hunter and Amelia had a request for their parents. "Dad, Mum, can we go to a Muggle bookstore tomorrow and see if we can find some books on space flights?"

"I've seldom been in a Muggle store or used Muggle money. Your mother knows more than me on that subject," Remus replied to his kids.

"Unfortunately, I'm scheduled to work tomorrow," Missy said. She worked in the Thought Chamber where they explored the nature of thought, but as an Unspeakable, Missy was not allowed to reveal anything about the Department of Mysteries including what she did, not even to Remus. "Can you go with Remus and the kids?" She asked Severus and Lily.

"Mum, Dad, can I go, too?" Neville asked.

Alice nodded. "Yes you can as long as you obey Sev, Lily, Remus, and Mr. Evans. We'll need to go to Gringotts' and exchange some money for Muggle money."

"We can do it when we leave here," Frank replied.

"No problem," Severus said. "He glanced at Lily. "What's the name of that bookstore Hal's always talked about?"

"You mean Waterstone's Piccadilly?" Lily asked.

"Yes, I recall he said they have a huge selection of books. He probably knows the store like the back of his hand. We should invite Hal to come along with us." He thought for a minute then said, "We could try enlarging your car, but I don't know even then if there would still be enough room for us all."

"We can floo dad tonight and ask him if he's able to go with us and if he is, you can floo over and shrink his car and then you can both floo back to our home and I'll resize it and put the enlarging spell on it," Lily said.

"We can floo over and wait until your done with the cars," Remus said.

"We'll have to re-arrange the entire garage," Severus joked. "Just kidding. I can shrink my car so there's room for Hal's and then after your done and he pulls out into the driveway, I'll resize my car."

"Sounds like a plan." Remus said.

Mad-Eye, Rufus, James, and Sirius were all in early the next morning as that was when Peter was going to be questioned.

Rufus sent Knightly and Sirius to bring back Peter. "Auror Black, you can recast that net over him that prevents him from turning into his Animagus form before you take him out of the cell," Rufus ordered.

Sirius nodded and he and Knightly went to fetch Peter. They were back with him in minutes with the net safely over him. They marched him into Scrimgeour's office and sat him down, using a binding spell to bind his legs to the chair.

Mad-Eye and James came into the office, too. James looked at Peter and asked in a plaintive voice, "Why'd you do it, Wormtail, why'd you kill my parents? They never did anything to you. In fact, my mum always cooked you your favorite meal whenever you came over."

Peter laughed. "You mean your elves always cooked me my favorite meal, your mum never did a damn thing herself. I doubt if she ever even wiped her own bum, probably had the elves do that, too!"

"Why you…" James growled, lunging at Peter, but Mad-Eye shoved him back. "Control yourself, Potter! He's only saying things to get a rise outta you!" He looked at Peter. "What were you doing in the old Riddle house in Little Hangleton? We're you getting it ready for You-Know-Who's return?"

Peter shrugged. "I knew about it from the Dark Lord and I needed a place to stay."

"You're a slimy coward and you always were!" James snapped.

Peter laughed. "Want to know something, Potter? Your kid isn't really the 'Boy-Who-Lived'. What was left of the Dark Lord, after fleeing your safe house, told me it was that rebounding mirror you hung by the kid's crib that did him in. When he cast the Avada Kedavra, the kid ducked, it hit the mirror, and rebounded back at the Dark Lord. He wasn't the Dark Lord's first choice anyway. Harry Snape was. The Dark Lord figured as powerful a wizard and witch as Snivellus and Evans are, their kid was the one to watch out for, but their house was under the Fidelius Charm and so were both their parent's homes and the Dark Lord had no idea who their Secret Keeper was and couldn't find out from any of his usual sources." Peter laughed. "And by the way, Potter, Snivellus wasn't ever a Death Eater, in fact, the Dark Lord actually wanted his head on a platter!"

"Where is Voldemort now?" Rufus asked.

Peter snorted and then laughed. "What's in it for me?"

"Well, I could arrange for you to be put in a part of Azkaban where the Dementors aren't allowed. the more you cooperate with us, the more likely it is that it will occur."

Peter knew he was going to Azkaban no matter what and he'd had the pleasure of stabbing Potter's ego with two really big knives so he may as well get himself situated to his best interests. He nodded and said, "What's left of him is wandering around somewhere in Albania. That where it told me he was going to go. Apparently, he'd spent some time there after he graduated from Hogwarts. He's probably going to try and get another corporeal body at some point, but it's not going to be easy to do and not without help."

"How could he still be alive and get another corporeal body?" Rufus questioned quietly.

Peter shrugged. "I don't know, but he must have found a way or he would have been dead when his Avada Kedavra backfired. If he told anybody about his plan to stay alive forever, it would have been Bellatrix. She was the only one he completely trusted. She was pretty nutters back when you arrested her in '78, but after being in Azkaban for as long as she's been and exposed to the Dementors, she's probably crazier than a bat trapped in a shithouse and it'd be useless to question her."

"Take Mr. Pettigrew back to his cell," Scrimgeour ordered Sirius and Knightly.

"Hey! What about this deal?" Peter objected.

"You've been honest with me and I will honor my end of the deal," Scrimgeour replied.

"Wait! He kills my parents and you're going to let him off easy like that?" James yelled in objection.

"He gave us some good information so, yes, Auror Potter, I'm going to honor my word. Perhaps you should have been more careful about choosing your Secret Keeper."

Peter laughed loudly. "He's right, Potter. Let me tell you, I couldn't wait to give the location of your safe house to the Dark Lord!"

Sirius grinned as he and Knightly led Peter out of the office. He'd bet that James was wishing he'd never come into the office today if he'd known what he was going to find out!

"Potter, you can go back to keeping an eye on those maps," Mad-Eye ordered.

James went, grumbling into Mad-Eye's office. Why wasn't Pettigrew being more severely punished for his part in his parent's deaths?

Rufus sighed and seated himself behind his desk. He rubbed his forehead with his hand and then poured himself a cup of hot tea. "Would you like a cup, Alastor?"

Mad-Eye held up his hand. "No thanks, Rufus. Now how are we going to find out more about what Pettigrew said?"

Rufus shook his head. "Perhaps we should consult with Albus and see what he has to say about the matter. We want to find a way to make sure he cannot even try to come back."

Alastor nodded. "Yeah, according to Aberforth, Albus knows a lot more than he's willing to volunteer."

~*~* Page Break ~*~*

Dumbledore was seated on the sofa in his office, taking a break from his paperwork, and enjoying a cup of tea and freshly backed cookies. He looked over at the fireplace as the floo sounded and saw Alastor's head sitting in the floo. "It's me and Rufus, Albus, can we come through?"

"Certainly," he replied, nodding. He waved his wand at the two squashy chairs in front of his desk and moved them over to where he was sitting.

Mad-Eye and Rufus stepped out of the fireplace, after first stopping to remove the ashes from their robes.

Please come in and sit down," Dumbledore invited. "Would you like a cup of tea?"

Scrimgeour and Moody seated themselves. "I would enjoy a cup of tea, thank you," Rufus replied while Moody, as expected, waved it off.

Dumbledore poured a cup of tea and handed it to Rufus. "Now, how may I help you?"

"I'm assuming you know we finally caught Peter Pettigrew or rather I should say Auror Black caught him near the old Riddle Manor in Little Hangleton. We were keeping an eye on the place because there were reports of people in the village seeing lights in it," Moody said. "He told us some shocking things, but we don't know if they're true or not."

"Such as?" Dumbledore asked in a suddenly guarded tone.

Rufus picked up the story. "Such as although You-Know-Who's body was killed when his Avada Kedavra hit that rebounding mirror that was hanging over the Potter child's crib, according to Pettigrew, something of him remained and it sought out Pettigrew. It told him he was going to Albania, but claimed he was going to find another corporeal body and return. Now I don't know if he meant taking possession of someone or something worse. Pettigrew said the only one who knew the entire story was Bellatrix because she is the only one he completely trusted, but she is, by now, completely insane."

Dumbledore was silent for a moment and then he put down his teacup and got up. "If you'll excuse me for a few moments."

They watched him go up the stairs and disappear into a section of books. Scrimgeour looked at Mad-Eye with his eyebrows raised inquisitively, but Mad-Eye shrugged and shook his head.

Albus came back with a book under his arm. "I removed this book from the Restricted Section in 1944 because of Tom's burgeoning interests in the Dark Arts, but I see now I may have been too late removing it." He handed Rufus a book entitled, 'Secrets of the Darkest Arts' by Owle Bullock. "This contains ways in which one can become immortal."

Please review. Thanks!
