Sara's mind hadn't stopped buzzing ever since she had been informed of her pregnancy. Plus, they were still knee deep in shit (as usual) and she was still trying to process the news. How was Ava going to take this? She knew it was irrational but she was terrified her wife would accuse her of cheating. And what if she didn't want a baby? This pregnancy was a magical miracle in every sense of the word. So in between bouts of morning sickness, which she played off as nerves to the others, she tried to plan for the mission so they could hopefully fix time and get back to their actual timeline. Nate eyed her in concern and although Sara knew he was suspicious, she hoped he wouldn't ask her anything directly. She ached to talk to one of her friends about this but Ava deserved to know first.

"You look pale. Are you sick?" Nate pressed.

Sara winced. "Nah, I'm fine."

He didn't buy it for a second. "Sara, you can tell me if something's wrong. Or is this something you need to talk to Ava about?"

"I'm fine, Nate! Back off!" she warned.

Nate held his hands up in surrender. "Copy that, boss. Something you need to talk to Ava about. But I'm here if you need me."

She softened and pulled him in for a half hug, which surprised him a little. "Thanks. I really appreciate your concern, even though I'm totally fine." Fuck, she was starting to feel queasy again. This kid had the worst timing already.

He side-eyed her, noticing how the blood had seemingly drained from her face. "Sara, come on. Something is clearly wrong."

Zari chose that moment to swoop in and interrupt so she could save Sara. "Nate, leave her the hell alone. It's the stress or something. Go bother somebody else."

"Thank you, Zari." Sara flashed her a smile and then had to turn around to throw up yet again.

Both Nate and Zari winced in sympathy. "Gross," Zari murmured as she wrinkled her nose up in disgust. Nate, meanwhile, turned around and headed back towards the Waverider, not wanting to bear witness to this again.

Sara whirled around so fast she thought she might vomit again. "That was a mistake," she mumbled underneath her breath. She inhaled and exhaled a few times, which fortunately worked. "I'm fine. It's nothing."

"You're knocked up, aren't you?" Zari accused.

Sara laughed. "What the fuck? What made your mind even jump to that conclusion?"

Her eyes widened. "You are, aren't you? That was mostly a joke but you're pregnant. You and Ava are having a baby? We're all having a baby?" she squealed.

Panicking, Sara clapped a hand over her mouth. "Shut up. I haven't told Ava yet because I have absolutely no fucking clue how she's going to take this. Plus, you know, we're still trying to save the timeline."

Zari hugged her. "Congratulations, anyway! Babies are gross but whatever, I'm going to love your kid. And Ava's going to be thrilled, Sara. Don't be stupid. Are the pregnancy hormones screwing with you already?"

"We never expected to have kids this way, Zari. Well, maybe via artificial insemination or something but this just happened out of the blue. Fucking magic."

Zari grinned at her. "But you love the baby already, Sara. I can tell. Hurry up and tell her already," she urged.

"Fine, I'll tell her." Sara sighed and then paled so she whirled back around to vomit into a bush.

"And that's my cue to leave. I'll find you some crackers or whatever it is pregnant people eat to quell the morning sickness."

Zari hurried off to the Waverider, leaving Sara alone. Well, not quite. She wasn't going to be alone ever for the next nine months. And if she ever worked up the courage to tell her wife, Ava would wait on her hand and foot to make sure everything was taken care of. Shit, was she crying? Maybe the hormones were already wreaking havoc on her body. Sara wiped the tears off her face and returned to the Waverider, profusely thanking her friend when Zari smuggled her some Saltines when the others weren't looking.

Ava sidled up to her wife and beamed at her but then frowned once she really looked at Sara. "Are you feeling okay, baby? Are you sick?" She pressed her hand against Sara's forehead but still wasn't satisfied upon confirming she wasn't warm to the touch.

"I'm not sick, Ava."

Still not convinced, Ava crossed her arms. "Sara," she warned.

"Really, everything is fine." Sara nibbled on a cracker, hating the taste but knowing she'd be able to keep it down.

"You're eating a Saltine cracker. Since when do you eat Saltines, Sara?" Something was definitely off but she couldn't figure out what. This didn't seem like the simple flu.

Shit. She should have known better than to give herself away like this. She still wanted to wait until after they fixed the timeline but looked like that wasn't happening. "Don't freak out, baby."

"Surefire way to get me to freak out but go ahead. What am I not supposed to freak out about?" Ava tapped her foot, waiting impatiently for Sara to finally break. She definitely didn't expect the next words out of her wife's mouth.

"I'm pretty sure this is the result of magic fucking with us again but we're having a baby. I'm pregnant!"

Nate, who had been eavesdropping despite Zari's best efforts to keep him away, stared at them in shock as his mouth dropped open. "Holy shit," he mouthed.

Ava froze for about ten seconds before shaking herself out of it. "We're pregnant? We're really having a baby?"

Sara nodded. "What do you think?"

"I'm in shock but holy fuck, this is actually happening." Ava teared up and dragged her wife closer for a quick kiss. "I can't wait to pamper you throughout this whole pregnancy and raise the baby with you. We're going to be moms, Sara."

Sara sobbed. "Hell yeah, we are."

Ava laughed through her tears and splayed her hand against Sara's stomach before lifting her up into her arms. "Fuck, I love you."

Nate pulled them both in for a hug, much to the confusion of the others who were still working on the plan and distracted by the chaos. "Congratulations, you guys. But we really do have to go save the timeline now. Baby plans as soon as we're done."

"You heard the man. Put me down," Sara teased.

Ava winked at her. "Let's do this shit."

They'd save the timeline, get back to their time, and then start prepping for the baby while dealing with the next inevitable crisis.
