When I was 17 I decided to move over to Forks Washington to escape all of those hounding me and work on another book. I only told my parents and a few other people about my plans and they all easily okayed it, not that I needed their permission since I had long ago become an adult in the eyes of the law.
I sat on my plane seat in first class as an attendant served me a bottle of chilled juice before going to the crossway to continue gossiping with her co worker. They had of course been gossiping about me since around half way through the flight when one of them had figured out who I was. She had even come up to me and had gotten me to sign her copy of my book of daily motivational quotes and thoughts for deeper thinking. It was quite popular since it caused a number of people to question their relationships and lifestyles while giving them positive ideas to fix any bad situations they might have been in without much damage to the relationships they had with those around them.
I had just come out of my memories of my life so far and my joke about busses and I could see that it was almost time to land in Seattle. Though I wasn't quite joking about dying from a bus since that was how I had died every time I had died.
After we landed I was led off the plane by the attendant who once again thanked me for signing her book and for writing such a life changing book.
I just smiled and thanked her for being so helpful and attentive on the flight. She just blushed before moving off to finish her job.
I went and called a taxi after finishing my disembarking procedures and asked them to take me to Forks. After arriving at Forks and waking up from the short nap I had I was let off at the realty office I had asked the driver to let me out at.
"Hello." I called out into the reception area.
"Yes, coming." I heard a feminine voice yell from the back. What appeared was a middle aged woman with a slight belly and a slightly upturned nose that made her appear to be a little snobbish. This was proven to be a correct assumption since the first thing she did was to snort when she saw me.
"Shouldn't you be in school right now? Not that I recognize you, whose child are you?" She asked me while looking me up and down.
"I am new to the area and am looking to buy a house away from town, also I am an emancipated youth who has already graduated from high school years ago." I told her with a forced smile that instantly dropped at her next words.
"Yeah right, enough of your pranks. This is a place of business and if you don't want to tell me the truth then I would advise you to leave before I call the chief and have you in trouble for skipping." She then muttered about how kids these days just weren't smart about their pranks.
I of course decided to pull out my paperwork from a pocket and laid it on the counter before also lifting my suitcase and opening it on the counter to reveal rows of 100 dollar bills.
"If you would please stop acting so condescending of me and just do your job properly perhaps I can move on from this rather irritating situation." I said with a frown.
"Holy moly." The woman sighed out when she saw the money. She then took my paperwork and looked through it all while her gaze constantly shifted back and forth between it and the suitcase.
"I believe that this money should be enough and if it isn't then I can pay the rest on card or if necessary a check. I just wish to look through what you have available at the moment and decide from there. After checking out the property to make sure of the quality of the building and the area surrounding it I can finalize the purchase." I told her as politely as I could.
"Yes, of course Mr. Hale." The woman said as she snapped out of her dazed state. She was a much more polite individual once you shoved money in her face. Something that I was finding was a common trait in this world.
The woman then went and got a small catalogue with a list of homes. I looked through them and found 4 that would suit my needs, however only one of them had the right foundation for the things I would need to do in the future. I guess I won't need to go looking at different houses to make a decision.
"I'll take this one." I said sliding the book back to the woman while showing her the page I was referring to.
"Very well. Would you like to see the building first or would you like to purchase the land first?" She asked with obvious greed.
"I'll purchase the deed for the land first since I plan to hire a construction crew to remodel the house and build a few other add ons anyways."
After filling out the necessary paperwork and paying for everything I received the deed to the land and the key. It is nice how being wealthy makes everything run smoother.
I also went to a car shop in town and bought a used car capable of off roading that I used to drive to my new home. It was kind of a junker, but it still ran just fine for now.
I had to make phone calls and run all over the town to get everything set up. It took me three months to get everything up and running, including having my new buildings set up. I had to get a construction permit to build on my land, but that was easy enough with enough money.
I had a green house set up with various exotic plants for my pharmacology projects I was working on. I had an Olympic sized pool and jacuzzi with various spa quality water treatments set up. I had a person from the company that set them up who would come by once a month to check up on the water quality and to clean everything in that building.
I had an observatory set up to view the sky on clear nights where I had a wonderful view of the stars. I had a number of buildings and rooms set up as well as remodeling done to make things as clean and high tech as possible. No point in not having the best if I could afford it.
I also had a number of basic things ordered to fix up the house and keep myself busy if need be. Everything was name brand and top of the line. The last thing I did was set up my personal defense system. Can't exactly explain why I felt I needed multiple flamethrowers in every room of the house to someone who doesn't know about vampires. It was something I had to build on my own and it cost me a good bit of money, it was still worth it in my opinion.
I sat back in my recliner and turned on the news to watch what was going on recently.
It was mostly pointless stuff such as how a local baseball team had made it to the regionals or how a dog was being friendly with cancer patients. Nice things, but not really important.
I turned off the TV and decided to go into town to go to the diner for something to eat since I had skipped breakfast and I was feeling hungry. I was curious about it since the books mentioned it a few times and it seemed like they had some okay food. I got in my beautiful dark blue sports car and drove to the diner.
