I looked over in the low light and saw Rosalie standing there while looking at me curiously.
"Why aren't you afraid? We could kill you in an instant before your house could even stop us. We are the monsters that storybooks say are bloodthirsty mindless murderers. How come when you look at us you have the same look in your eyes as Carlisle gives us?"
"I don't see any of you as monsters. I have seen monsters and I have killed more people in my past lives then all of you combined. I have been in multiple wars that were fought by people with their own families and beliefs. I have had to kill people that were considerably better people than I will probably ever be and people who would make the demons in the bible look tame in comparison."
"You and the rest of your family have all had some terrible things happen to you that have caused you all to become who you are today. I know all of this and I also know that you all are struggling to become something better by overcoming your past horrors. To me you are all innocent children and while you all might be immortal, emotionally you are all still very much children. Even Carlisle with all his experiences and morals has had to limit himself due to being a vampire and having to constantly move around while I have been able to build up and change the worlds I was in."
"I do not see you as bloodthirsty monsters, but instead I view you as individuals who have simply gone down a different route of life. A route that you have all chosen that causes all of you pain and hardship, but one that you all feel is rewarding in its own way."
"That still doesn't explain why you aren't afraid of us. If we wanted we could kill you right this second and bury you in the forest and everyone would assume that you had just decided to up and leave. Nobody would ever think of us and our secrets and safety would be maintained."
I look at Rose and smiled. "Even if you did kill me and make me disappear it wouldn't make any difference since I wouldn't be telling your secrets anyways, and if I had wanted to harm any of your family I could have already done so. Even asking for your venom wasn't something I had to do and was instead done out of respect. Do not think that I am just another weak human that you can just make disappear just because you are a vampire. I might be human, but I am plenty capable of catching and imprisoning vampires if need be."
"I also wouldn't need to tell anyone your secrets since the governments of the world already knows about vampires."
I heard a crash from the living room that I figured was something breaking. We then heard Emmet very loudly yell ouch along with the sound of electricity crackling.
"What, did any of you really think that nobody would notice when people constantly disappear. Jasper's entire company of soldiers disappeared overnight and you think nobody went and checked what had happened. Or perhaps you thought that nobody would ever notice the constant wars going on in Central America where people would rip each other apart using nothing but their hands and teeth. Even the Volturi with all their bullshit about keeping secrecy brings entire busloads of people down to their base to feed. Most government vehicles these days have gps in them for that exact sort of situation."
Carlisle opened the door and I could see everyone standing there looking at me with faces of shock and horror.
"I wouldn't worry about it for now since the governments all realize that vampires are a small group compared to everyone in the world and that most of them only kill unimportant individuals, or at least unimportant to them, or criminals. Very few vampires kill people who actually matter to the members of the government in the know. Not to mention that a few Vampires actually work for various government agencies in return for those governments providing protection and help. It also helps that the vampires are self regulating and don't cause that many problems."
"All of this is a very terrifying picture you are painting Alex." Carlisle said with a frown.
"It is in the sense that you all are only being presented with this information now, but it isn't all that scary once you come to the realization that the governments of the world have known about vampires for a long time now and they haven't sent extermination squads after any of you so far. I believe you can all just continue what you do normally since the governments don't really seem to care. This especially goes for your family here since you all feed on animals instead of humans making you all even less of a threat than any of the nomads who go around feeding on random people."
"That is both troubling to hear and also gratifying to know that feeding on animals has unknowingly lowered the danger on my families lives." Carlisle said with a relieved sigh.
"Yeah, but can you all go back out to the living room." I yawned. "I actually do want to get some sleep. Also Rose, you shouldn't be sneaking into another mans bedroom in the middle of the night, what would people think." I smirked at her.
"Hmph. Like I would ever be interested in you when I have a real man like Emmet." Rosalie snorted at me.
"Well your real man is pocketing some of my games." I said while pointing past the doorway and causing everyone to turn around and look at Emmet who was bent over and pocketing some of my games.
"Emmet." Rosalie and Esme scolded him with exasperated voices.
"I'm just borrowing a few games to play at home so Alex can sleep in peace." Emmet said with a sheepish look at everyone.
"Emmet, you need to ask before you borrow other peoples things. It's common manners." Esme scolded him causing him to rub the back of his head.
"Seriously, I just told Alex about you being manly and you do something like a little kid. This is so embarrassing." Rosalie hid her face in her hands.
I just laughed and said. "It's fine if you want to borrow them Emmet. There's more on the other side of the TV."
"You are awesome." Emmet cheered while Esme and Rosalie just sighed in irritation.
Jasper stood there grinning while Edward looked like he wasn't sure what to make of the situation before just giving up on making sense of this mess. Carlisle just shook his head with a small smile.
"Well we'll let you get back to sleeping." Carlisle said before ushering everyone out of my bedroom and closing my bedroom door.
I think I'll need to replace whatever got broken tomorrow. I thought to myself before falling asleep.
The next few weeks passed in a blur of testing. Carlisle sent me vials containing their different venoms as promised. I went around town every day for an hour to jog and let people see me. I figured that doing this would hopefully let people know my face so they didn't call the police on me for supposedly skipping school. It also helped to keep me in shape and it felt nice to get out and move around.
The two officers I had met before apologized to me and it turned out that the blond one's wife was actually a fan of mine. I autographed a copy of one of my books for him and he thanked me a lot. Apparently he had been forced to sleep on the couch ever since his wife had found out he had arrested me.
I became a local celebrity, but even that died off a bit after a little while. It also helped that I repeatedly had to turn down the women who would flirt with me. I had already done the whole harem thing multiple times and with how this world went I already knew that I would get either a vampire mate or a werewolf imprint. So having a human lover wasn't something I was really interested in, unless it was for a one night stand. I got to have a few of those since a few of the women in town just want to have bragging rights. I didn't mind that, and with all of my experience all of those women I slept with were left very satisfied.
Edward had taken to going around during his free time and helping others. I figured that learning that he not only had a soul, but that his good and bad deeds did in fact have an effect on his afterlife had caused him to try even harder to do the right thing for people. If he tried any harder to do good he would end up with a mask and a cape.
Alice loved the idea and we even spent a little while one night designing superhero outfits for everyone. Alice and I went out shopping for my clothes and got the materials she needed for the outfits while we were out.
Emmet loved his outfit which was a mix between Robin and the Green Arrow with all of the attachments and toys and he was even more excited once he saw the outfit for Rosalie. We had decided to go with a tight outfit that showed off all of her curves using a green and black cloth with golden swirls. Alice had decided to add a short skirt that barely covered half her upper thighs and had a built in push up bra. We had added in a few gadgets that we thought would be fun. Rosalie had come out of her room wearing the outfit after we had given it to her and Alice had badgered her into wearing it.
I have to admit that that Rosalie filled out that outfit in a way that nobody else probably could. Emmet had an instant and very obvious hard on and had picked her up with a deep rumbling growl. I laughed since when he did that Rosalie let out a squeal in shock.
"Alice, I think we should stop making super hero costumes. At this rate I don't think a single one will manage to survive." I said with a grin.
"Yeah." Alice said with a grin that matched my own as we heard the sounds of fabric tearing and thumping coming from Rosalie and Emmet's room. "It does seem to be effective in a different way though, so maybe I'll just make a few for special occasions." She said with a wink.
"I'll definitely order a few if I ever find a woman of my own." I told her with a thumbs up before we had to leave since Rosalie was not being quiet in the least. I also think they might have broken the bed since I heard a sound of something collapsing.
I talked to Esme about the different styles of houses and art styles that I could remember from my various lives. She enjoyed hearing about how some of the ninja had created paint made with seals that would change based on the mood of the people in the room. She decided to try and make a paint that could do that as well and started to research that.
Carlisle would take over my experiments during the night while I was asleep since he didn't need any sleep and we had a lot of discussion concerning ethics as well as numerous other things. It was the first time I had someone I could talk to openly who was on the same level medically as I was since I came to this world. I think it was close to the same for him and we ended up becoming close friends.
