The time for the main series to begin started with a ridiculous amount of gossip among the town. I was down in the diner getting something to eat when I overheard a couple of women gossiping about how Charlie had left for the day to go and receive his daughter from the airport.

Isabella Swan was the talk of the town and everyone and their brother were talking. Rumors were flying galore. Some people thought she would be a blond bombshell to rival Rosalie Cullen while those who remembered meeting her before knew she was a quiet and shy girl. I just chuckled and called up the school to schedule a lecture for the next day. The principle and the biology teacher were more than happy to let me take some time for it. They even okayed it for me to use the gymnasium for the lecture.

I knew both Bella and Edward would be more than happy for the interference. Bella since she would have less time in the spotlight and Edward so he didn't have to suffer through the class.

After my phone call I received a call from Alice.

"Alex did you just cause biology class to be canceled for the whole school and turned into a massive single class?"

"Yes I did." I smirked knowing that even if she couldn't see me she would be able to hear the smugness through the phone.

"That is just ridiculous, I love it." Alice laughed in her tinkling voice.

"I bet you do you little chaos fairy." I joked. "I was going to call and let you know that tomorrow Isabella Swan would be attending her first day of school. I figured that if I didn't do this then Edward would end up suffering a great deal more than necessary. Though it will only be for one day it will hopefully be enough for him to be more prepared to deal with her after the initial exposure."

"I do see her attending school, but I don't see how Edward will react to her." Alice said in irritation.

"Of course not silly. Decisions like that can't be made until they actually meet. Hopefully it will be easier for him if there is more space between them and he can take a few days off after that to go to her house during the day to get used to her scent and feed. Also make sure he is fully fed before he meets her and make sure you keep your magic eyes on his future so you all can react if he decides that he can't handle it."

"I will definitely keep an eye on him, but personally I think he has plenty of self control to handle this." Alice told me in a serious tone.

"Maybe, but better safe than sorry. Okay, well I'll let you go. I have a lecture to plan for."

"Sure thing, make sure you keep it interesting, also try not to do to many dad jokes or I see it going bad for you."

"Future prediction or just personal preference?" I asked with a smile.

"Nobody likes dad jokes." Alice sang out before laughing and hanging up.

Okay, now I definitely need a dad joke in there somewhere, I know a good one about three cells and a RNA.

I received a text from Alice that said, I said no dad jokes and especially no science dad jokes you nerd.

Ha. Well whatever, I guess I just have a more high brow level of humor than others. I also guess this means I have effected fate enough to have Alice able to see me now. Good to know.

The rest of the day passed peacefully and I got to do my daily routine the next morning before I needed to go to the school.

When I got to the school it was lunch and right afterwards I would be giving my lecture.

The principle and the biology teacher were very happy to see me and showed me where the gymnasium was. I had them realign the chairs to be more spread out before giving the okay and letting them know I was going to go to the cafeteria to get something to eat before the lecture. I was of course given permission to eat anything I wanted free of charge.

I went to the cafeteria and got a bit of food before going over to the table where the Cullens were sitting. Rosalie was giving me a glare while the rest were looking at me curiously.

"You know Rose, if you keep glaring like that you're going to get wrinkles." I joked.

"Shut up Alex, we both know I would never get wrinkles, also I never gave you permission to call me Rose. Only those I'm close to get to call me Rose." She told me with a glare.

"I thought we were close, after all we've been through." I said in mock sadness.

"You poor, poor boy." Alice said while patting my back as if to comfort me. "See how heartbroken he is Rose, you're such a meanie."

"Whatever." Rose grumped while blowing out a breath of air and looking away.

"You know if you were my friend I would be able to get you in contact with some of my car manufacturing friends in Japan. They occasionally let me test out their newest car models." I told her while looking up at her.

Rose just snorted while smirking a little. "Are you seriously trying to bribe your way into my good graces."

"Maybe, is it working?" I grinned at her.

"Ugh, fine. You can call me Rose." She groaned out.

"Yay." Alice and I squealed in delight.

"The both of you are incorrigible." Rose shook her head with a small smile while the others just smiled at us messing around.

"Okay, but on a serious note." I said after calming down a bit and looking at Edward. "Have you gone near her and gotten her scent yet?"

"Not yet." Edward confessed. "I tried to read her thoughts, but it's like you said, I can't hear a thing from her."

"I'm going to need you to go walk by her to get a proper judgement on how bad this is and whether you can remain in control of yourself during the lecture since we will all be in an enclosed and darkened gymnasium. If it is as bad as I think it will be then it will be no different than locking a newborn in a room with a bleeding human."

"That bad?" Edward flinched.

"Hopefully not since you are fully fed and know she will affect you, but if it is that bad I need you to go out before the next hour or you're going to be trapped in the gymnasium with a ton of people who you would need to kill if you lost control. I have a great deal of strength and I could stop you, but it wouldn't be until it was to late and you had ousted yourself. So go walk by her now as a test run so we can know how bad it is."

"Okay, here goes." Edward said nervously. He got up and walked past where they were sitting and I could see the moment when he froze up. Alice herself also froze up and I heard her tell Edward to hold his breath.

Edward immediately came back and he looked like he was trying to avoid running back to the table. I held out a thermos and told him. "Here, take this and inhale deeply before drinking."

He did as I instructed and I could see him unfreeze from the shock at the scent from the thermos before drinking it down like a man dying from thirst. His shoulders relaxing more and more as he drank.

"Thanks Alex." Edward nodded to me before handing the thermos back to me. "Though what sort of blood was that? It was actually kind of fruity."

"It was the blood of a type of monkey that normally ate meat but also ate a great deal of fruit. I figured with the vampire senses it would be more noticeable. So how bad was it?" I asked with worry.

"It was bad, very, very bad." Edward sighed out.

"You're telling me." Alice groaned out. "If it wasn't for Alex having his thermos and me telling you to hold your breath you would have drained that girl on the spot in front of everyone."

Rose and Emmet looked at Edward with concern and shock and I saw Jasper concentrate before Edward seemed to relax a little bit more.

"It should be fine now, but I personally think you should take the rest of the day off Edward. No reason to torture yourself until you can be less sensitive to her scent. Plus if you really want to listen in to my lecture I'm sure it will be on the schools website by the end of the day."

"Yeah, I think you're right Alex. No need to force myself when I can just work through this. Thanks again for the help." Edward said with a grin as he stood up.

"No problem, you could even say that I'm a real life saver." I chuckled.

"Oh god no, I told you no dad jokes." Alice whined.

Everyone else just laughed before the bell went off and everyone walked off to go wherever they were going.

I went back to the gymnasium with a couple of bottles of water and finished the preparations for my lecture.

The lecture went really well and a lot of people seemed interested in how I described things. The nerds liked the idea of biology allowing them to study aliens while the females and males in general liked the idea of learning biology to figure out how to become even more attractive. I of course ended up getting a number of phone numbers from the girls and even a few guys. I thought it was funny since I had already told them when they gave me their numbers that I wasn't looking for a relationship right now and was only having one night stands for the time being. Apparently that was okay with them, including the cheeky girl who asked about my relationship status.

Bella was a surprisingly mellow and pretty girl who had a very sharp mind. It was her first day in school and she got in a scientific debate with me concerning how different foods could cause teenagers to have less acne and improve their moods. I enjoyed the talk a good bit and the others who listened to us all wrote down the information we said. I had a feeling that Bella may have just become the high school beauty consultant.

Over the next week Edward would go to Bella's house and spend the day just sitting on her rooms floor inhaling her scent. Jasper would go out every day to go on short hunting trips to deal with all of his hunger from feeling Edward's hunger and to get some bottles of fresh blood for the rest of them. I joked about how it seemed that Jasper was like the mother bird feeding all of the chicks back at the nest. This earned a good round of laughs and a couple of snorts while Jasper just seemed to enjoy the affection.

After that week Edward went back to school and finally introduced himself to Bella. The rest of the day went as normal from what I was told. Edward made sure to tell both Carlisle and me about how it went and thanked me for all my help.

I simply gave him a shoulder squeeze and told him that he still had a good bit of growing up to do and that if he needed any advice or ideas he could always talk to me. This made Carlisle and Edward snort with smiles before Edward left and Carlisle and I went back to our experimenting.

We had gone through all of the venom we had and had to get another batch from everyone. We had learned a number of things about the differences in the venom. Venom from female vampires was actually weaker than a male vampires and also changed blood at a much slower rate compared to a males.

We also found out that while the acidic nature of a vampires venom would burn through most anything it wouldn't melt lava stones or other volcanic rocks. Somehow the stones weren't affected by the venom any more than they were by plain water.

Carlisle was extremely excited to find this out since that meant a huge difference in vampire related medicine. It was all brand new information for any vampire and Carlisle was more than happy to be at the forefront with me on this.
