I spent a few more months in my house before reaching the last of my experiments on vampire venom.
Vampire venom is a viral type of poison that is borderline parasitic and aggressively takes over cells and causes a mutation in the structure of the cells. The reason why animals die when they are bit is because the mutated structure requires a humanoid body. It is possible for monkeys to become vampires, however they will only gain the intelligence of a normal adult human if they are already close to being human in intelligence. In the case of a monkey's brain needing to be changed by a larger margin it will cause them to become brain dead.
The venom causes cells to become smaller, thicker, and smoother while also being capable of compacting the things carried by cells, such as oxygen, nutrients, and whatever else they have. After the venom has changed a cell completely the cell will then produce more venom which will then infect other cells and become more venom and so on. Once the body has produced a maximum amount of venom in the body the infected cells will slow the production of venom and will instead focus on maintaining the body in its peak condition. This also causes cell division to all but stop since the thicker cells can no longer divide properly once the change has been finished and the body will use new cells to repair any damage.
The reason for the venom to keep a body in peak condition while also repairing any and all damage is so that the body will be able to spread the venom to more new hosts. Due to the fact that the mouth has a large number blood vessels close to the surface it has a higher potency of venom than other parts of the body.
The reason why vampires can not eat normal food and obtain nutrients that way is because the stomach acid in a vampires belly is replaced with a lining of venom. The venom absorbs and infects new blood after it is ingested allowing for the new blood to replace any old blood in the body. It also causes the body to crave blood since it can no longer produce it's own blood which makes normal food useless.
Many of the issues and traits of a vampire is because of the compacting and increase of cells. This includes the increases in mental and physical functions, as well as the sparkly and hardened skin.
The reason for the constant hunger and lack of control for newborn vampires is because the venom inside of them is still changing over the cells and the newborns body reacts to this by sending out signals of needing nutrients for new blood as soon and as efficiently as possible. It takes a period of time for the venom to slow production and to become stable. This period of adjustment is the newborn period. It also doesn't help that the compacted cells causes the bodies signals to go to the brain faster than it can handle and causes their brains to overload. Newborns essentially run on almost pure instinct until they get used to their new bodies, which could last for months.
Carlisle was amazed at the results of my experiments on venom. "This is all ground breaking and answers so many of the questions I've had about my species. This information is life changing to say the least." He all but cheered.
"Lets make copies of these results and send them out to the major covens around the world." Carlisle said with a smile. "This might change how vampires view themselves and might change things for countless vampires all over the world."
"Not to mention the implications concerning modern medicine." I nodded at Carlisle while handing him a copy of my conclusions. "If it becomes possible to create a synthetic venom that doesn't alter a cells structure and only causes the healing effects it could potentially cure countless issues ranging from diseases to paralysis."
"You're right, this is only the beginning." Carlisle said with a huge grin. "I'll go get these sent out with our names attached. Though some of the people I want to send it to might be a little harder than others to reach. I'll probably need to wait until after the wedding and go myself to anyone who I can't reach through the computer."
"Wait, the wedding?" I asked Carlisle.
"Oh, no one told you. Edward and Bella are getting married in three weeks." Carlisle said in surprise.
"No, nobody told me about the wedding." I pouted.
"I'm sure someone was going to invite you." Carlisle said awkwardly.
"Hm." I said with a frown. I then paused time and went to find Edward, Jasper, and Emmet after checking through my mail and not finding anything related to the wedding. I took all three of them and left them in Antartica. I left them in the middle of the place completely naked before coming back to my house and returning time to normal with a smile.
A second later Carlisle's phone went off as he sighed while looking at my satisfied grin. "Yes Alice."
He listened for a few seconds before sighing and handing the phone to me. "It's for you."
"Why hello Alice." I greeted in an upbeat tone.
"Don't hello me Alex. Why am I having a vision of Edward, Jasper, and Emmet at the south pole butt naked when they were in Forks less than a second ago?" Alice asked in an irritated tone.
"I don't know what you could mean, I've been here with Carlisle discussing our research and the final results all morning."
"Yes, I can see that, but I don't doubt you also paused time to kidnap them for whatever reason."
"Kidnap is such an ugly word, I prefer surprise fun time."
"Sorry Alice." Carlisle said with a sheepish smile. "It seems that everyone forgot to invite Alex to Edward and Bella's wedding."
"Oh, like I couldn't just give him a call the day of the wedding and have him there within a second."
"Alice." I scolded her. "Just because I can pause time does not mean that I can do everything in that time. I need to get fitted for a tux, I need to decide on a present. I need to do a countless number of things for the wedding that require more than just myself and you using my abilities as an excuse to not invite me until the day of is very mean and honestly kind of hurtful. After how much I have done to help those two out in their relationship I would have thought that I would at least get treated like a part of the family and have a part in the wedding planning."
"Sorry Alex, I shouldn't have thought that way and should have treated you better. I myself know what it is like to have people act like that just because of my ability. Can you forgive me?" Alice asked in a small voice.
"Of course I will forgive you Alice. Just make sure you give me forewarning about things and don't just treat my ability like it will solve everything." I told her softly.
"Thanks, but I really do need Edward and the boys back so we can get them fitted for the wedding and all of the other issues I need them to help with."
"Fine, but I won't bring them back until tonight as punishment for not inviting me." I said with a pout.
"You do realize that Bella isn't going to be happy with you about leaving Edward in Antartica."
"Oh, I'm sure she'll forgive me." I said with a devilish grin.
"Alex, that's just wrong, but I also agree that it is hilarious and cute to see her struggle with the choice." Alice laughed while trying to scold me.
"I know, but it is so worth it. Plus if she truly can't forgive me I can throw her the same sort of party I had the first time I got married."
"You do realize that you can't get drunk right? Not to mention that Bella would get very upset if you threw a whale. What the hell is a house elf? Stop the crazy train you got going Alex and just go with your first plan."
I really do wonder if house elves are a thing in this world. Also freeing whales from the whalers should be a goal for everyone, even if freeing them means using them as a giant club to sink the whaling ships.
I ran back to Antartica and took a few photos of Edward and left a dunce cap on his head before running to Bella's house and sitting at her computer while she was on her bed before allowing time to go back to normal. The guys seemed rather unhappy being there.
"Oh my god Alex." Bella screamed out in shock. "Don't do that." She scolded. Luckily Charlie was at work or I would have some serious explaining to do. Though with how Charlie feels about Edward he might actually be happy to find me in here with Bella.
"I actually have a slight issue with you right now Bella." I said with a serious and sad expression. "After all we've been through, after all of my sacrifices and hard work, you and Edward just throw me away like a used rag."
"What are you going on about?" Bella sighed out.
"Neither of you two invited me to your wedding. I don't even live that far away and you could have even just called me and let me know, but I guess Alex just isn't close enough to you guys to be invited." I sniffled while hiding my face.
"Aw, you know we care about you Alex. Things have just been hectic and we haven't been able to get around to letting you know yet. We were definitely going to invite you to the wedding." Bella said with a guilty look.
"Okay, but I just want you to know that I've taken it upon myself to punish people for not inviting me to such an important event as your wedding." I told her while letting out an evil grin.
"What did you do Alex?" Bella said with a worried tone.
"I sent Edward, Jasper, and Emmet to the south pole naked."
"That's terrible Alex, plus we need them to help with getting the wedding ready. There is a ton of things we need to get done." Bella said with a frustrated glare at me.
"Well there is a way for you to help them." I said with a smirk.
"What do you want now?" Bella said as she crossed her arms.
"I just need you to make a choice. In this first envelope we have a voucher for me helping you one time." I told Bella setting down the envelope. "This is my graduation gift to you, also congratulations on graduating high school. You also didn't invite me to your graduation party either now that I think of it." I frowned.
Bella looked away with a slight guilty look before saying thanks. She then turned back to me and said. "What's in the second envelope?"
"The second envelope contains pictures of Edward in all of his naked glory down in the south pole right now."
"What!?" Bella shouted out with her whole face turning bright red.
"The choice is between these envelopes. If you choose envelope one you can use the voucher to have me go and get the guys and bring them back. They will of course come back themselves, but it might take a week or two before they can get back."
"If you choose the second envelope you can keep the photo's of your darling Edward in the buff to use as you wish. You could even use it to tease him and get him to do something you want to do."
"If you choose the first envelope though you won't get the second one and vice versa. So now the choice is yours."
Bella looked between the two envelopes over and over again with a bright red face. I of course paused time and took pictures of Bella looking all embarrassed and troubled with my phone and when I went back to my seat I sent them to Alice through a text which she replied to with a smiley face and a thumbs up.
"I choose the first envelope." Bella ground out as if it was a painful decision.
"Okay, I'll go get the guys. You can keep them both as a part of my wedding gift to you." I told her as I stood up.
Bella covered her face before muttering about me being a demon.
I just laughed before pausing time and getting the guys. They were in the middle of wandering around while Emmet was building a snowman. He was the same no matter where he was.
I took them back to Forks and left them in their rooms. They were still naked since I had to tear off their clothes to get them naked, but at least I didn't leave them in public or something. I could have, but I didn't.
I left a strongly worded note taped to Edwards forehead saying that I was disappointed he didn't invite me to his wedding and that I had to find out from Carlisle.
I got a call a little while later from Edward who apologized to me and formally invited me to his and Bella's wedding. I of course accepted.
For the next three weeks I was roped into helping with the wedding. I helped to set up the lighting and other decorations as well as taking Alice around to all sorts of different places. She decided that since she didn't need to order anything and could instead just go to where it was made that it opened up her options for the wedding by a lot. Alice made sure to get the absolute best of everything. I was of course more than willing to help her with whatever it was that she wanted. I went around the world so many times in these three weeks it would have made superhero's everywhere proud.
The night before the wedding all of us guys threw Edward a bachelor party the vampire way. We went on a massive hunting trip across the world courtesy of me. We all enjoyed the party and everyone was excited. I took everyone anywhere they wanted, often leaving them in some funny predicament.
I took Emmet to the north pole and left him surrounded by penguins which caused them to swarm him and made us laugh. I left Carlisle in the middle of a pack of kangaroos and got to see him box them. Jasper decided to go and fight baboons which ended up with him covered in broken branches while the baboons screeched at him. They are surprisingly slippery little things.
Edward decided to hunt a cheetah, I can't say I was surprised, but it was his night. I of course decided to upstage them all by fighting a giant squid. It tasted terrible, but it was still fun. I also got to throw a whale at a whaling ship. I was so proud of myself. The others couldn't understand why in the hell I would do that, but it was my own thing anyways.
The next day we came back in the morning and got ready for the wedding. Alice had me run a few more errands and correct a few things. After that was all done and Bella was all taken care of I decided to go talk to her for a bit since she was going to obviously be nervous.
"Hi Bella." I said as I walked into her room.
"Hey, you should knock before entering a soon to be married woman's room, or any woman's room really." Rose said with a frown and a glare.
"Oh please, like I haven't seen anything you girls have many times before. Unless one of you have some sort of alien parasite growing out of you? You girls don't right?" I asked with a fake curious tone while looking them up and down.
Rose just rolled her eyes while Bella laughed so hard she had trouble catching her breath and her mother smiled.
"Thanks Alex." Bella said after she calmed down.
"No problem." I waved her off. "I figured you could use a second to release the stress and steady your nerves."
"So that was what you were here for." Renee said while putting her small fist into her hand as if she finally figured out a grand mystery.
"Hello Bella's mom. You look just as beautiful as I had heard." I said with a smile.
"Oh you smooth talker." Renee waved her hand at me with a small blush.
"Don't fall for his sweet words mom, Alex is a well known womanizer and smooth talker here in Forks."
"Oh, he seems to be quite the gentleman to me. He is also very thoughtful to come visit you to help you relax a bit before the wedding." Rose snorted at her description of me but didn't correct her since it was hard to describe my pranks without touching on the supernatural.
"I just wanted to give Bella the other part of her wedding gift that I got her and to say a few things."
"What did you get her?" Renee asked curiously.
I pulled out a small box that contained a choker. The choker had countless threads of an alloy that created a rainbow effect from even the smallest of light and had numerous small gems of different colors spread throughout. It looked like the room had actually managed to become brighter just from me opening the box and caused all of the women in the room to let out a sigh of admiration at the beauty of the choker.
Bella had tears in her eyes and when I asked if I could put it on her she just nodded from being mute because of her emotions. I went behind her and put the choker on her neck and nodded at how it looked before looking her in the eyes and speaking to her.
"You know Bella, you have been through a lot with Edward and everyone else here. You already made decisions at the time you made them that have led you to here. Whether you could have chosen better or not doesn't matter. The decisions and actions of the past are in the past and are already set in stone. You know what you want, you know in your heart how you yourself feel, and you have already proven time and again how tough and stubborn you are. You Bella Swan are a very smart, loving, and strong woman. So for today ignore the future, ignore the past, and ignore what anyone and everyone thinks or feels. Be as selfish as you can and take what you want. Today is your wedding and you deserve to be as happy as you can possibly be as you marry the man you love with all of your being."
Bella and her mother were crying with smiles by the time I had finished my speech and even Rose had a big grin on her face. Alice looked like she wanted to cry as well from how sweet I was being.
"That was a beautiful and well worded speech Alex." Rose said with a smile and a nod of approval.
"Yeah, that was very beautiful and moving Alex." Renee said while wiping her tears.
"Thanks Alex." Bella smiled at me.
"Good thing all that practice I did in the mirror didn't go to waste huh?" I said with a grin.
They all laughed a bit as I gave Bella a hug and wished her good luck.
"I got to go and finish helping set up decorations or something, not sure what, but I'm sure someone will need me to run somewhere and get something. Not to mention that I might get in trouble for making the bride cry on her wedding day."
"Thanks again Alex." Bella called out again as I headed out into the hall.
"I also want to thank you Alex." Edward said from a doorway down the hall.
"Oh, what for?" I asked with a lazy smile.
"Since I have met you I have received countless amounts of help from you. I was a very depressed and moody individual that was full of anger and self hatred. Because of your advice and encouragement I have been changing how I view the world and have become a better person. Because of you I have been able to be closer to Bella and I don't feel as if I am taking anything away from her. At least not as much as I would have thought I was going to.
"You have been constantly nudging me and those around me to be better and we have all seen the good that many of us had a hard time seeing for a long time. We are all better people thanks to you and I am especially thankful for all the times that you have helped Bella."
"I talked to Charlie a couple of days ago and found out from Charlie, Alice, and even Carlisle all of the things you have done to help both me and especially Bella."
"Charlie told me how you would give him resources to help connect better with Bella since he felt he was so awkward and unable to properly understand what she was going through. When I had left and Bella was suffering you coached Charlie in ways to help Bella and taught him ways to keep from making terrible mistakes that most parents would have made in that situation."
"Carlisle told me how you had researched ways to make the change less painful while also trying to come up with a way to allow me to be with Bella without having to worry about her getting hurt. You taught him about using the electric blanket to heat our bodies and even had Carlisle help make a workout for us that would let us practice how much force we use when touching things such as a persons face or hair."
"Alice has told me about how you would often speak to those around Bella and give them advice and counseling so that they can interact with Bella and the other people around her better. Ever since you became a vampire you would often use your speed to set things in front of Bella and even myself that you believed would make us have an even better time together, such as paying for our meal as a random act of kindness or leading people off our path when we were on a date."
"All of these things are debts that I only recently learned about and I don't know of any way I can possibly ever repay you for what you have done for me and the woman I love."
"I did all of that on my own Edward. I did it without expecting a reward or a thank you. So you don't need to act so formal with me. Just know that I helped you both out because I actually like you both and care about you guys." I lightly squeezed Edwards shoulder before heading downstairs.
I maybe should have mentioned that the people I took away from them would often find themselves in random places with no explanation of how they got there and most of the girls around Bella were sleeping with me during their so called counseling sessions. Lauren was a girl who felt the need to receive counseling almost daily.
