I paused time and built a small two story building with the upstairs being set up with three bedrooms that were fully furnished with a bed and an end table. A desk was added into the corner and a dresser was put in the other corner with a mirror hung above the dresser. A large rug was laid across the floor. Each of those three rooms was the same. I had left papers with a mixture of art supplies and writing tools in each room. I also left complete collections of my novels in each of their rooms.
The first floor had smaller rooms with only a desk and a bed with a mirror hung on the wall. I made sure there were enough rooms for each guard to have their own. In the middle of the first floor was a living room with a large table and multiple shelves. The shelves had a few board games and another set of my novels. It also had a couch with a TV and a game system with numerous games. I also had added a fridge that was stacked full of bottles of my latest blood creations.
I felt that I had done a great job in making sure the Volturi would have a wonderful time visiting and had made sure the new building was far enough away that everyone could talk without hearing each other while still being close enough that a vampire wouldn't need ten seconds to reach the other building.
I led Aro and the others to the building and showed them around. I had to show them how to work the gaming system, but after showing them all a shooting game only the guards showed interest while Aro, Caius, and Marcus weren't interested.
Marcus went to his room and instantly went to the art supplies. Aro went to his room and began to browse the books. Caius simply slammed the door in my face with a smirk. I don't think he even appreciates the fact that I left a number of books about weaponry and war throughout the world in his room.
I ran back to the Cullen house and saw everyone was beyond stressed out.
"Okay, so it looks like everything is going to be alright. Bella gives birth in a few days and then the Volturi will go back home and nobody has been executed so far. So it is looking good so far." I gave a smile while everyone looked at me like I was stupid.
"Alex, the Volturi executed Joham and his eldest daughter along with an entire town full of humans in order to kill any witnesses while giving a pardon to the other hybrids. They were then told our laws which Joham never bothered to teach them and they have been told to enforce the rules across the country or they will be held accountable."
"The Volturi then traveled northwards and slaughtered countless vampires in Central America where they were having countless vampire wars all in order to show that they were powerful and every vampire should follow their laws or be destroyed. My old friends Peter and Charlotte called me to let me know while they escaped the area." Jasper told me with a scowl.
"They then traveled upward on foot through the west coast constantly feeding on humans until they finally reached here. The humans think there is some giant cult from South America going north while slaughtering anyone who sees them. It's on all of the news channels." Alice said while turning on a TV facing us to show the news.
"Not to mention that we almost had to deal with a full on shifter and vampire war in less then an hour of them arriving." Rose said while looking at the magazine in her hand.
"Aw man." I let out a moan.
"Don't worry baby. It'll be okay. We did everything we needed to do and they will be gone after Bella gives birth to her baby." Tanya said as she wrapped her arms around my waist.
"It is going to look suspicious as hell when the deaths stop as soon as they got to Washington. We aren't going to be able to let Bella go hunting anywhere near here after she turns since the FBI and other agencies will probably be combing the area. Not to mention that the members of the government who know about vampires will certainly be looking for us since this is very obviously the work of a group of vampires." Edward said in irritation.
"Wait, the government knows about vampires?" Tanya asked in shock.
"Sorry, I must have forgot to tell you about that." I said sheepishly. "Yeah, some of the upper management in every large government in the world knows about vampires and handles supernatural related matters. Vampires might try their best to stay hidden, but when you have super powered individuals eating people, even if they're the people not really cared about by the government, people will start to notice."
"So why don't they do something about us? I haven't ever had anyone from the government bother me, nor have they ever bothered any other vampire as far as I know." Tanya asked in disbelief.
"That is because vampires tend to feed on criminals and the homeless. These are the kinds of people that most governments are usually happy to let simply vanish. Not to mention that vampires have a government of their own that makes sure any vampire causing too much trouble is destroyed. Vampires are also only a small amount compared to the number of humans in the world."
"So they use the vampires to do what, population control and getting rid of their problem people?" Tanya asked indignantly. The others in the room also looked rather unhappy about that thought.
"They might see vampires that way, but at least it keeps them from trying to make trouble or kill us." I sighed in defeat.
"That is very insulting, but I do understand that it is probably for the best that they view us this way." Tanya sighed out.
"In any case." I said while clapping my hands. "We only have a few days before Bella goes into labor and then after the Volturi see whatever it is they want to see they will head back to their home in Volterra to continue ruling over vampire kind and the other things they do. I'll also stock up on blood so that nobody has to go out hunting while the search for a cult is ongoing."
"I already started giving Bella blood to help with the baby and have everything set up for the procedure." Carlisle said with a smile.
"We have started making up a room for the baby." Esme said while Alice, Rose, and Tanya all nodded with smiles.
"We have made sure to sit in our corner not getting in the way." Emmet said with a grin while Jasper just covered his eyes with his hands in embarrassment.
"Okay, so have we decided who is helping with what during the procedure?" I asked.
"Rose will be the one to clean the blood off the baby after the birth. Edward will be in charge of injecting venom into Bella to start the change and I will be helping to move Bella when she goes into labor as well as assisting as needed during the procedure. You will be the main operator for the procedure." Carlisle explained while nodding to each person he mentioned.
"Okay, that will work." I said with a smile. "In that case I suggest we get to doing whatever it is we will do during these few days while we wait."
We all separated to do our own things. I went and talked to Jacob and the others in his pack and let them know that I needed them to stay at my house or the reservation until the Volturi left since I didn't want to have any of them killed, which would be very awkward for all of us. I got them to laugh at how I had dealt with Sam and the rest of them. They were also very happy to find out that they could order food using my credit card so long as they ate everything they ordered. I swear I saw Seth cry tears of happiness from my act of kindness, though he swore up and down that it was just dust in his eye. Leah also had a smile, though I wasn't sure if it was from the fact that the two guys were crying over getting to order food or from the thought of my credit card bill once they were done with it.
I went back to the Cullen house to play games with Emmet and I only needed to get Marcus art supplies once in the days we were waiting.
Tanya and the other women kept Bella distracted with color schemes and bedding for the baby from the time it would be born until the time it was an adult. I did try to explain that they didn't need to plan for so much since a hybrid ages really fast until it reaches adulthood. This was met with a round of "we don't care." So it was safe to say that the baby would possibly have their room change on a daily basis, which was of course an idea that made all of them very happy and caused them to spend even more time on planning. I just gave up on trying to get my mate back for the next while.
Carlisle and Edward stuck around Bella to the point that she had to actually tell them to let her be for a little while, such as when she needed to use the bathroom. She did follow my orders to have one of the women accompany her into the bathroom in case her water broke or the baby moved and caused her to pass out from the pain since if that happened Edward would never let her go from his side no matter what she said. Bella just smiled at that and agreed to it.
I had everyone drinking blood from my bottle collection and I was quickly running out of blood bottles. I figured out that at the rate we were going through them we would run out the day after Bella's due date. I had to order a questionable amount of fruit and rabbits in order to make more. It probably caused some people in the government to raise their eyebrows until they saw that it was me who had ordered it all. Luckily I was a known scientist and my orders were very specific. They must have figured I was performing an experiment concerning fruit and rabbits. I would need to come up with some sort of scientific reason for this.
On the positive I got the opinions of the Volturi about the blood and they gave it great reviews. Apparently if I fed rabbits with a single kind of fruit and had them drink that fruits juice for over two weeks it would cause the rabbits blood to become saturated with the flavor of the fruit and would cause the blood to have a taste of the fruit. It would still taste like blood to anyone else, but to a vampire who could pick out the trace amounts of different tastes in blood it was no different from having eaten the fruit itself.
I did let one of their guards try a blood substitute I had tried to make, but it just made him sick. So back to the drawing board with that one. I did explain that if I could somehow make a blood substitute I could actually flavor it from the beginning and produce a whole ton of different flavors outside of just fruit. Aro was very interested in my experiments and we talked for a while about different things that might make a difference. I kind of felt bad for his guards though since it seemed that Aro might also start experimenting himself and the first ones on the chopping block for testing out his experiments were the guards. I received so many glares.
Caius was also slightly interested since the blood substitute could also be used to torture a vampire over time into becoming afraid of blood.
On the day Bella went into labor I let Aro and the others know that there was a good chance that Bella would go into labor that day and that we would need to get into position.
Edward went and got permission from Jacob to change Bella over the phone. It was more for Edward's sense of righteousness than it was for the permission, but whatever makes them happy I guess.
The Volturi guards were a little hyped up and were wandering near the house. Marcus of course didn't really care about it all and had taken to sitting in the living room watching a show about nature or something. He really liked that show.
Aro and Caius were standing nearby and were talking to Carlisle in hushed voices while they waited.
Everyone who wasn't going to be involved in the birth procedures were kicked out of the house to go patrol with the Volturi guards or just hang out for a while.
Bella and Edward were basically inseparable at this point. Rose was with them and was constantly reassuring Bella.
I decided to be an ass and went over to Bella and messed with her much to the amusement of everyone.
"So Bella, I just wanted to let you know that your child is going to have one eye and incredibly sharp teeth and claws." I said with a smile while everyone looked shocked. "You should be prepared since the child will become as tall and wide as a one story house and will have a craving for the flesh and blood of goats and sheep and will be unable to properly wear clothes. They will probably only be able to wear a loincloth and will probably talk with grunts and moans while glaring at everything like it wants to fight."
"Alex, will you please stop trying to scare Bella with trying to make her think her baby is going to be a cyclops." Edward groaned out with a glare.
Bella just laughed at me once she heard Edward say that I was just messing with her.
"I hadn't even gotten to the part about them shooting eye lasers and breathing fire yet." I said with a fake pout.
This made everyone chuckle and Bella laughed even more to the point that she had to wipe some tears from laughing so hard.
"Thanks Alex." Bella said while giving my hand a squeeze with her frail hand. "It was good to laugh like that." She gave me a smile before asking Rose to help her go to the bathroom since all that laughing made her need to go pee.
Rose went over to her and helped her stand from the couch. Bella dropped her bottle and went to grab it only to have her water break. Just like in the movie the baby started to panic until I said with a commanding tone. "Little one, you need to calm down or you will kill your mother."
The baby stopped moving around, but Bella had already had her spine snap and was in Rose's arms and was being carried up the stairs to the surgery room Carlisle had set up.
"Okay everyone, it's show time." I clapped. "Everyone to their positions and remember that if anyone can't handle the smell of blood or wants to leave they will need to do so immediately since if they try to eat Bella or the baby I will move them out of the house."
Everyone nodded with serious expressions before running to their positions.
Aro, Caius, Rose, and Edward all stood back from the bed and watched. Carlisle stood next to me and would hand me instruments as needed.
"So Bella, what brings you here today?" I asked as I used a pair of scissors to cut off her shirt and sweat pants. She had stopped wearing her underwear since they not only made her uncomfortable but were near impossible for her to put on.
"I am in the middle of giving birth Alex." Bella growled at me. "What sort of dumb ass question is that?"
"So I take it this is your first time?" I asked still smiling while I received a scalpel.
"No, I give birth every few months." Bella groaned out angrily.
"That is amazing, you might feel a little pull here, you sure are amazing to give birth so many times." I cut Bella twice, once across her lower belly like a normal C section and again from her belly button to just above her crotch. There was some slight bleeding and I noticed when the vampires in the room tensed up a bit, luckily nobody had to be removed yet, but I was still paying attention.
"Stop being an idiot and get my baby out of me." Bella growled out through grit teeth. She must have felt it a bit even with the broken spine.
"No reason to be so angry, I am only trying to help you stay on point Bella." I said as I took a couple of clamps to hold her stomach open and to clamp down any veins that I had cut in the process. There were a few that were bleeding. "Speaking of being on point, what do you think of my new lab coats? Are they too white or not enough, maybe I should go with a silver instead?"
I clamped them all the cut veins while Bella let out a groan in pain.
"Rose, get prepared." I called her over on my other side while I leaned forward to the sac that was as hard as vampire skin. "This is the sac that holds the baby hybrid in and is as hard as vampire flesh. If a vampire or hybrid does not help to pierce the sac and free the baby hybrid it will force the baby hybrid to force its own way out and will cause the mother to die." I told the watching vampires in speed talk that only vampires and shifters would understand.
I then bit into the sac and gently tore it open to reveal a beautiful little baby. Well I say beautiful, but she was covered completely in gore, so more like a horror movie new life kind of beautiful. I lifted her out and tied off the umbilical cord before biting through that as well.
"Here Rose, make sure she gets cleaned off." I said as I handed her to Rose who was waiting with a towel.
Rose nodded but went to Bella to show her the baby before she took her to wash up. Like in the movie Bella went into cardiac arrest before Edward could inject her with his venom.
"Inject her now you idiot and then bite her arms and legs." I yelled at Edward who was in a dazed state. He acted immediately while begging Bella not to leave him and asking me to save her.
"Of course I'm going to save her." I yelled out before shoving my hand into her chest cavity through her rib cage. Some people might freak out since doing that would definitely cause a person to become a cripple afterwards. I however was using venom to change Bella and it would fix whatever damage I did so long as she still had her heart and her organs, even if said organs had some bones in them. So long as her blood is pumping and she has her body and head.
I then grabbed her heart as gently as I could and spent a minute forcing it to move the blood around. After that minute it started to beat on its own and Bella let out a gasp before groaning in pain. I pulled out my hand and used my speed to remove some of the bone shards out of her chest cavity. Better to remove those before she heals the hole I made just in case.
Aro and Caius had walked out with Carlisle to talk while I was trying to make Bella live again.
Edward thanked me for saving Bella before he knelt next to her and watched over her as she went through the change. I hadn't used the morphine on her, so she was very loudly screaming as she went through what was safe to assume felt like fire in her veins.
I walked out and got to see the moment Renesmee grabbed ahold of Aro's finger. His face lit up in shock and wonder.
"This is rather amazing." Aro said in a low voice. "A half human half immortal child who has a powerful ability from birth. Is it perhaps because both of the parents have abilities, or is it that all hybrids have them? What a curious creature."
"Well Aro, you do know that the only way to find out is to find a human female with an ability of her own and convince her to have a child with a vampire who has an ability." I chuckled.
"That is indeed an interesting idea." He nodded with a contemplative look. "This has been an eye opening experience to say the least. Thank you all for the chance to witness this and also thank you for the hospitality. I do however believe that it is time for us to leave back to Volterra. We have been gone much too long from our positions and we have much to do." Aro then went to get Marcus and the entire Volturi group left soon after.
"Well I will see you all in a couple of days." I said to everyone who was there. "It is also wonderful to meet you as well Renesmee." I cooed at the little baby.
Renesmee looked at me before reaching out towards me. I went over to her and picked her up from Rose who let out a soft growl. "No need to be jealous Rose. I'm sure you will be loved at least half as much as my awesome self." I chuckled while she glared at me.
Renesmee reached up to my face and I got a picture in my mind of a little cyclops breathing fire and shooting some sort of eye beam. Edward must have been reading books to Bella and her that described various things.
I chuckled before bringing her over to a mirror. Everyone looked at me curiously as they didn't understand what I was doing.
"See Renesme, this is a mirror, it shows us what we look like, so you don't need to worry since you look like a very normal and cute baby." I told her with a smile. Renesmee touched the mirror before letting out a happy squeal in delight.
"Would you like to go back to aunty Rose?" I asked her. She just touched me again and I saw a picture of the now normal Renesmee in my arms while feeding on a bottle. "Okay little one." I said with a grin.
"She wants to be with me for a little longer and wants her bottle, can one of you grab it for me?" I asked while Rose gave me a glare that I knew was just full of her jealousy.
"No need to be so worried Rose." You will have plenty of chances to give Renesmee lots of love.
Rose just grumbled as Alice gave me a bottle of warmed blood.
"Here you go." I said as I handed the bottle to Renesmee who leaned back in my arms and started drinking in content. I started rocking her back and forth and she soon fell asleep after finishing the bottle and letting out a small burp.
"She is such a little darling." Esme said quietly with a smile.
"Too bad we can't have one of our own, you look surprisingly good at that." Tanya said with a sad smile.
"You do know that I have had well over a hundred children in my past lives. You are my mate and that makes you their mother as well. So technically you also have over a hundred kids. Plus I'm sure we can adopt a child if we raise them away from humans and turn them later on, it would definitely be a better life than most kids in foster homes can get. If need be we could even get a surrogate mother."
"As nice as that sounds I have already seen the horrors that can be done if vampires try to raise human children. My sire made that mistake and both her and the child were killed because of her fear of him getting hurt and loving him too much." Tanya said with a sad smile.
"Yes, while it is a nice thought the chances of ending up making an immortal child is very high in those kinds of situations and will only end in heartbreak." Carlisle said sadly. "That is why Renesmee is such a miracle to all of us."
"I bet, though you guys will need to be careful not to spoil her to much or she'll end up being another Rose." I joked.
"Shut up and give her back to me already." Rose quietly snarled at me.
"Fine." I sighed before handing her over to Rose. "Better now?"
"Much." Rose said with a light smile as she looked down at Renesmee.
"I get the feeling that Rose will be the biggest culprit in spoiling this little girl". I said while shaking my head.
"Actually the biggest culprit is you." Alice said with a smirk. "I might not be able to see you very well in the futures I see, but the random things that show up are enough to let me know who the real culprit is."
"Uh." I said with fake surprise while everyone just let out quiet chuckles at me getting caught. "Well you can't blame me, she's just so cute. Not to mention I've never been an uncle before."
"Agreed." Everyone said together.
"Well, I really do need to go. Those wolves are probably eating me out of house and home by now and I need to restock my blood bottle supply since everyone has drank almost my entire stock. Which that reminds me, I'm going to need your help on getting some stocks Alice." I sighed out.
"Really?" Alice asked with stars in her eyes. "I knew the day you came to me for help would come." Alice had a look of delight and pride over having me finally owe her one.
"Gah, fine." I sighed out. "Even my vast amounts of money can only last me so long before it runs dry. Especially with the way I've been spending it and will need to keep spending."
"Wait, so you had all of this money and it wasn't from Alice helping you?" Tanya asked in surprise.
"He didn't want to owe me one and felt that he could provide for himself like a big man should." Alice mocked me. "And now he owes me one anyways."
"That is rather amazing, to think that you managed to get so much money without using Alice's visions and only using your own skills."
"I'm sure you know my skills quite well." I said to Tanya with a mischievous grin. Tanya let out a low growl as she eyed me hungrily.
"Okay you two, out of the house first." Carlisle told us with a smile.
"Yeah, we were already surprised at how long you two were able to stay apart, I don't think anyone will blame you two for some time together." Emmet said with a smile. "Also pay up Jasper."
Jasper handed a hundred bucks to Emmet with a smile.
I paused time and grabbed Tanya and ran to my house with her in my arms.
