I

In the streets of Academy City a child stood out of the crowd, it was not because the air of grandeur she carried herself with, after all many of those children were powerful ESPers, though she stood out because she wore looked like it came out of a cartoon, a red plaid suit with vest and skirt, and of course an umbrella. Unlike the other children she was not wearing uniform or school clothes.

She had green hair and red eyes, all and all she could be spotted from blocks away, a red spec in the middle of a sea of people wearing dull colors. She stood in the crepe store and found herself confused by the prices.

"300 for a single crepe. It better be the best crepe I had ever eaten" She said while checking in her pocket. She got a small purse out and pulled out a stack of gold coins, it took her a while to get all of 300 coins, one ounce each.

"We don't accept chocolate as currency" the clerk uttered, he picked up one of the coins to return it, but he felt the weight of the coin in his hand, gold is famously dense and the coin was heavy for its size. He looked close at it, on one side it had a harp, on the other a sunflower along with a few odd looking runes. Instinctively the clerk bit on the coin and bent it with his teeth. It was an ounce of real gold, perhaps anywhere else they wouldn't recognize it as authentic, but clerks in academy city work to pay for tuition, they are usually university or graduate students trying to make ends meet.

Not only gold was heavy, but it was expensive. Ever since the cryptocurrency crash of 2023 gold had gained popularity again, many crypto had physical tokens minted in gold or platinum, this could be one of those. Gold alone was as much as 5000USD an ounce, small fortune on the palm of his hand. The cashier shook his head and returned the coins "We don't have change for gold"

The girl shrugged "Keep the change then" She said calmly "I am hungry and don't know where to exchange my coins… How much more do I have to pay?"

The clerk looked at the bent coin "Just this one… You could pay for the meals of the entire store with this"

The girl smiled "Get yourself something nice… And prepare me a good meal, I also want a cup of tea please" she took back the rest of the coins.

The clerk didn't realize the bag could hold 300 gold coins for its small size, but the little nun behind her did.

She didn't have enough money to pay for the Ecuatorian Chocolate crepe she wanted, it was real chocolate, chocolate had gone almost extinct save for a few places in the world. "50 yen short?" She sniffled a little.

The girl in red saw this as she was waiting for her crepe. She got close to the girl and handed her three coins. "Can my money pay for her meal too?" She said to the clerk.

He nodded and went to the work station to order two chocolate crepes and two matcha latte. The nun tried to return the money but the girl in red was already walking to a table.

The nun followed her "Miss, Sylvan money is worth a lot to humans" She said

"Really? That explains the very high prices" She put her umbrella hanging at the edge of the table. "I believed this was a Lunarian city, what is a woman of god doing here?"

"So you don't know about me… Good" She sighed in relief "I was getting ready for playing a game of wits for my freedom. Fairies are very hard to run from"

"I am just in a stroll little nun. I am a simple gardening fairy" She smiled

"A gardening fairy carrying a concealed sylvan blade? You also paid with money carrying the Dannan crest. I know Dannan are warriors" She stopped for a moment "Sunflower crest… YOU ARE THE SLEEPING TERROR!" She fell back from her chair.

Index knew things by heart, she knew that the Dannan were a warrior clan, and that they migrated from the Hindus Valley thousands of years ago to Ireland, in fact the Tuatha de Dannan are the fourth people to inhabit said place. Index also knows that in the Hindus valley there is a deity known as Tripura Bhairavi, an avatar of Shiva. Avatars are technically God saints, among human wizards there are Saints who bear the power of Gods, among Gods there are Avatars who wield the power of the universe itself. Avatars are Saints who could speak as if they were God Himself, they are God Himself, even if they are born humans, just like Jesus, he was above saints, he was an Avatar, the will of God incarnated in a material body.

Though Jesus was an avatar of the protective aspect of the universe, the part of if that wants humans to survive. This fairy was a destroyer, an avatar of destruction itself, they are the vindictive hand of God. Ma Bhairava, the fearsome mother, known to ride pink sunflowers and wear red, known to had fought entire demon armies and come out victorious, known to make gods themselves shiver at her sight.

Index then thought with a cold head, if Bhairavi wanted Index dead, she would be dead already, the entire city dead with her. Perhaps she was just in a stroll and stumbled upon her by accident. She gave Index gold as a token of good faith. She knew Index was a nun, and gave her the gold to show that she had no qualms against her. Fairies were also very well known to respect church people, priests, monks and nuns were often given gifts by fairies.

"Please do not call me that… Brighid is not my name either, both titles given by humans because they never bother asking my name. Humor me nun and tell me my real name, and I will let you know why I am here" The clerk who got the gold served them both their plate.

Index thought to herself, she had many titles in many cultures, but the first registry of it would be in Enuma Elish, the goddess of fertility, she gifted the date tree to the humans. The root of the date palm tree has to reference her name somehow, and of course it had been barely changed over the years, Index could tell why, human subconscious would not forget about their spiritual mother. The woman clad in sunlight, the one to fight and vanquish the seven headed dragon who will destroy heaven. Index considered pronunciation was important she had never actually spoken Hindo-European dialect but she gave it a shot.

"Yuuka" Index said.

Yuuka sipped her tea, she pushed it aside, with disdain. "What awful tea they serve in this place… Never ask for a brew in a place that specializes in food" she looked at Index "Humans are rarely that smart. I am here to seek a dreamer, their dreams had caught the attention Wallwerk"

"Wallwerk?" Index tilted her head

"There is something you need to study then. Well the tea made me lose my appetite" Yuuka left her half eaten crepe on the table and left the business.

It was getting late, but Yuuka was not in a hurry, she enjoyed the human artificial lights, they shone brighter than moons now, as much as sparks of light. The stone palaces of humanity that they called cities, entire dwellings made out of artificial stone and hot iron.
