Valentine has killed Jace and then been killed by the angel Raziel, and Clary has wished for the angel Raziel to bring him back to life. However, Raziel was unable to bring Jace back to life and Jace remains dead.

It all started on the first day of senior year. The day I met him. Gosh, it was all kinds of wrong. But we couldn't help it. Looking back now I can see how stupid we were. But we were in love. How could we have stopped? How could we have said no? If I had a chance to go back and change it, I wouldn't. I wouldn't change a damn thing. It was perfect. He was perfect. We were perfect.

Clary Fray and Jace Herondale have been best friends forever. From diapers to taking baths together, they've been through thick and thin. Which was why when Clary gets into a car accident with her brother and causes his death, she went to Jace to get rid of her suicidal thoughts. And he did, just not in the way she hoped.
