Chapter 1: The Return to Gringotts
The late afternoon sun hung low in the sky as Harry and Hagrid made their way back down Diagon Alley, back through the wall, back through the Leaky Cauldron, now empty. Harry didn't speak at all as they walked down the road; he didn't even notice how much people were gawking at them on the Underground, laden as they were with all their funny-shaped packages, with the snowy owl asleep in its cage on Harry's lap. Up another escalator, out into Paddington station; Harry only realized where they were when Hagrid tapped him on the shoulder.
"Got time fer a bite to eat before yer train leaves," he said.
He bought Harry a hamburger and they sat down on plastic seats to eat them. Harry kept looking around. Everything looked so strange, somehow.
"You all right, Harry? Yer very quiet," said Hagrid.
Harry wasn't sure he could explain. He'd just had the best birthday of his life - and yet - he chewed his hamburger, trying to find the words.
"Everyone thinks I'm special," he said at last. "All those people in the Leaky Cauldron, Professor Quirrell, Mr. Ollivander... but I don't know anything about magic at all. How can they expect great things? I'm famous and I can't even remember what I'm famous for. I don't know what happened when Vol-, sorry - I mean, the night my parents died."
Hagrid leaned across the table. Behind the wild beard and eyebrows he wore a very kind smile.
"Don' you worry, Harry. You'll learn fast enough. Everyone starts at the beginning at Hogwarts, you'll be just fine. Just be yerself. I know it's hard. Yeh've been singled out, an' that's always hard. But yeh'll have a great time at Hogwarts - I did - still do, 'smatter of fact."
Hagrid helped Harry on to the train that would take him back to the Dursleys, then handed him an envelope.
"Yer ticket fer Hogwarts, " he said. "First o' September - King's Cross - it's all on yer ticket. Any problems with the Dursleys, send me a letter with yer owl, she'll know where to find me... See yeh soon, Harry."
The train pulled out of the station. Harry wanted to watch Hagrid until he was out of sight; he rose in his seat and pressed his nose against the window, but he blinked and Hagrid had gone.
Harry was wondering why he had to go back to the Dursley's, now that he had a vault full of money and a whole new world to hide in.
The train arrived at the next station and the doors opened before he even realised what he had done Harry jumped off the train with his packages and his owl and walked across the platform to catch the return train back to Paddington Station.
As soon as he was on the next train, Harry let out a breath he didn't know he was holding and said, "This is it, no more Dursley's, just me".
Harry jumped off at the next station, carrying his packages and owl cage and walked back down to the Leaky Cauldron and snuck to the back and tapped the bricks like Hagrid had shown him. The view was still as magical as before.
He walked quickly, with his head ducked down back to Gringotts Bank, to avoid the crowd and so no one could see his face. As he quite hated the spectacle that was made on the earlier trip to Diagon Alley.
Harry walked up the steps of the bank and went through the doors, he looked at the tellers lines and found one with no people waiting.
"Excuse Me" Harry said, the teller leaned over the desk and saw that he had someone waiting to be served "Yes" replied the teller, Harry read the nameplate of the teller "I was wondering if there was someone I could speak to Mr Gornuk about my account".
The teller looked at the young one in front of him and said, "It's just Gornuk, and who is wishing to speak to us today about their account".
Harry looked up at the teller, removed his fringe to show his scar and said quietly "Harry Potter Sir", Gornuk looked down at the young Mr Potter and put the closed sign on his desk, "Come this way Mr Potter". Gornuk led the young Potter to a hallway where there was rows and rows of doors with names on then, Gornuk went to the eighth door on the left that said Gornuk Account Teller.
Gornuk led Mr Potter to his desk and sat down in his chair and said, "Mr Potter, please take a seat".
Harry was looking around the office there were at least half a dozen bookshelves that looked to be filled with books or ledgers and there were many curios including tiny model dragons. He took his seat and placed his packages and his owl's cage carefully on the ground by the chair, Harry also saw a giant stone fire place with a tiny cauldron on the side. The entire room look to be covered in books, candles and lanterns and the stone floor was covered with a bright gold rug and there was one entire wall dedicated to the fireplace, it was quite impressive.
"Mr Potter, what is you wish to know regarding your account" said Gornuk. Harry looked at Gornuk and said, "I never knew of magic before today as I've lived with my Mum's sister and her family, I would just like to know what accounts and properties I may own, so I know what to be prepared for".
Gornuk was quite in shock, as they all thought the young Potter had been raised in the magical world. "Mr Potter, you mean to tell me, you have never heard of magic before today" stated Gornuk.
"Yes Sir, I was only told that I was a wizard today, odd things always happened, but I never believed it could be magic" replied Harry.
"Mr Potter, we were told you were aware of magic and your holdings with us, do you mean to say you haven't been receiving any account statements" said Gornuk.
Harry looked at Gornuk, he didn't realise it, but his mouth opened and closed twice before he could choke out the words "account statements … me?".
"Yes that is correct Mr Potter, we started sending them to you when you turned 7 years old as you would have been old enough to read and understand the statements yourself then, your account has been held in stasis, aside from a monthly payment of 40 galleon's to your Guardian, which is equal to 200 British pounds as 1 galleon is equal to 5 British pounds" said Gornuk.
Harry was looking down at the desk and his head whipped so quickly in his shock as he turned to stare at Gornuk and said, "My Guardian, who is my Guardian? … as my relatives said they never got anything for me at all".
Gornuk went to the bookshelves and grabbed a book off the shelves, the spine had a large image of a red, black and silver crest with what looked to be a golden horse on the top (see following link, for an image of the crest: potter-family-crest), the name Potter was above the crest.
Gornuk took the book back to his desk and opened it to what looked to be an index page of many names, "Harry Potter, Harry Potter, ahhh page 458" said Gornuk.
Gornuk looked to be flicking to the needed page, "here we are,
Harrison James Sirius Potter-Black
Heir to the Ancient and Noble Houses of Potter and Black
Mother: Lily Evan's née Potter (deceased)
Father: James Charlus Potter (deceased)
Blood Adopted Father: Sirius Orion Black (incarcerated)
Guardian Albus Dumbledore
Account statements sent out on the 5th of each following month, to Hogwarts Headmasters Office" said Gornuk.
"Why are my statements being sent to the Headmaster, is he receiving the payment of 40 galleon's per month to?" asked Harry.
"It looks like, Albus Dumbledore was appointed your Guardian on the 5 of November 1981 by a Wizengamot court order in an emergency session and on the 7th and it looks like, he ordered all mail to be directed to him, as you would have been too young at the time to receive correspondence, but the request has not changed, as it was meant to when you turned 7 which is odd" stated Gornuk.
"But … I have never had any contact with a Albus Dumbledore and the first time I have ever heard his name was from Hagrid and my Hogwarts letter" said Harry.
"That is quite odd, indeed, we will need to look into this further, shall we move onto account holdings and properties" Gornuk replied.
"Yes we can .. did my parents have a will and where is this Sirius Black and how is he my Blood Adopted Father" said Harry.
"Sirius Black was a childhood friend of your Father's; he would have been made your Blood Adopted Father via ritual and with Lady Magic and your parents blessing shortly after you were born and he is currently incarcerated .. imprisoned at Azkaban, a Wizarding prison for the death of your parents" stated Gornuk.
"Ohhh" replied Harry. "Now moving on .. it looks your parents will has been sealed by a Wizengamot court order on the 5th of November 1981 and never released, which is also again rather odd and will have to be investigated further by a Lawyer, now in terms of monetary wealth and assets …
Ancient and Noble House of Potter:
Potter Family Vault 686 Total: 1 Million Galleon's + Various furniture, paintings and jewellery.
Potter Trust Vault 687 Total: 494,720 Galleon's.
Properties:
Potter Manor, Lincolnshire, Unplottable (5 house elves)
Potter Cottage, Roundstone, Galway, Ireland, Unplottable (3 House Elves)
The money and property listed here is what you currently able to inherit, as you are a minor you do not have access to the Black vaults or property, as Sirius Black the current Lord is still living, as it stands you only have access to your Trust Vault 687 because that vault is in your name and once the will is read, you will have access to your inheritance from your parents" stated Gornuk.
"Wow … that much money and those two properties .. is it possible to get in touch with a lawyer to discuss guardianship, the transactions and the releasing of the Will" Harry replied.
"Yes .. we can, now as to laywers, the three current lawyers in Britain are Dedalus Diggle, Sebastian Nott and Ted Tonks, I would recommend Ted Tonks as he has a good history and is rather neutral, as Dedalus Diggle is a Dumbledore man and Sebastian Nott is a Ministry Man" stated Gornuk.

"Can Ted Tonks be hired and do you know how much that will cost?" Harry asked. Gornuk looked up from the book on his desk and moved to some files on his desk and started rummaging, he looked to have found the file he needed and opened it to the first page and said, "Here we are, Ted Tonks, Lawyer, hourly rate is 60 galleons and you can arrange to have him on a retainer as well for a annual fee that can be arrange via contract".
"I am happy to pay 60 galleon's per hour, can he be contacted now" replied Harry. "Perfect, let me contact him now" stated Gornuk.
Harry watched as Gornuk stood from his desk chair, pushed it back and walked over the fireplace that was the wall, he lit the fire with a click of his fingers and reached into the tiny cauldron and grabbed a handful of what looked to be fine white powder, he tossed it into the fireplace and stated "Ted Tonks, Office", Harry watched in shock as the fire turned green and a head appeared in the fireplace seeming to be that of a man.
