Little Boruto pressed his ear against his mother's rounded belly and grinned at the stirring movements. That was his little sister for sure, saying hi. He wondered if it was her hand or her leg that he was feeling.

Mama ruffled his hair and smiled gently. "Saying hello to Himawari, Boruto?"

He nodded earnestly. "Mhmm. 'S secret though, Mama."

His mother beamed at this. "Really? Tell Mama this secret then."

Boruto stared at her in horror. "'S a secret secret. Can't tell you. Hima will be mad, Mama."

Hinata burst out laughing and Boruto, face still pressed up against her lavender-pink shirt, definitely felt Hima give a second jolt there. He frowned.

"She's excited, Mama."

He pressed his hands against Hinata's stomach, against where he thought Hima's tiny baby hands might be. It was great that she was excited. He was happy that she was excited. Boruto was excited too, about getting someone like a little sister. He didn't know what a little sister was exactly, but he was sure that it would be someone cool, someone who would help him throw snowballs at mom and help him get piggyback rides with dad. He hoped she wouldn't cry too much though. That would be annoying.

Hima still hadn't come out yet. That would take a few more weeks, Sakura oba-san said the other day.

But he knew that Hima could feel his hands.

He smiled again.

It was their little secret.
