Well done all that said Penny, I might have made it obvious, but I'm not a huge Penny fan.

Callie's POV

Chapter 11

Callie let herself into Arizona's home complete with groceries, planning to treat her family to their favourite meal chicken Picatta. She knew there was a lot of making up to do, both to Sofia and Arizona. While her daughter had been quick to forgive Callie knew Arizona would take longer and she would never forgive herself.

Sofia ran in going straight to her room to get her music CD demanding a dance party as they cooked. She'd missed spending time with Mamma since moving to New York. So was taking every possible opportunity now they were both in Seattle to spend time as much time as possible with her Mamma.

As she cooked Callie texted Arizona to let her know dinner would be ready at 7. She knew from her earlier conversation Arizona planned to be home about 1830 so was surprised when she received no reply confirming what time she'd be home, but chaulked it up to her being busy.

At 7 receiving no reply she rang in asking if Dr Robbins could be paged so she could ask how long she be. Sofia was begging to stay up until Mommy arrived home and Callie wanted to let her unless it was going to be too late. When nobody answered the page Callie asked them to check the OR schedule, Dr Robbins wasn't scrubbed in. Slightly worried but hoping her ex-wife was just driving home Callie waited another 30 minutes. When Arizona didn't appear, she rang Meredith.

"Are you still at the hospital?" Callie asked,

"I'm just leaving, why?" Meredith replied, Callie could hear traffic in the background.

"Is Arizona's car still there, I paged her, text her and rang her and there's been no reply." Callie asked concerned, pacing up and down Arizona's living room.

"I'll check her space," she could hear Meredith walking,

"Callie" her voice came across the phone, instantly Callie's blood turned to ice, Meredith sounded panicked, she never sounded panicked.

"What's wrong" She asked, already getting her stuff together ready to go,

"Someone's vandalised Arizona car, there's a hammer on the floor and blood"

"Call the police," Callie ordered running to get Sofia they needed to get to the hospital ASAP

"Why, who'd take Arizona?" Meredith asked confused. She knew something big was happening but had no idea what and she hated not knowing.

Callie sighed, the gnawing feeling she had in her gut when Arizona hadn't come home on time, she'd ignored it, telling herself she was paranoid, but now she knew she was right. Penny had Arizona.

"Penny," Callie replied absolutely sure. What she hadn't told Arizona but had mentioned to the police was that Penny had become increasingly obsessed with the idea Arizona was trying to tear their family apart. She hadn't thought Penny would take it this far, never thought she'd hurt her family.

It had started back in New York with snide comments about Arizona, before Sofia had even flown back. Callie had ignored them passing them off as a joke or jealously, in the last 3 days before she'd left New York it had become more rants, hateful rants about Arizona ruining everything. It was one of many reasons Callie had been staying at work late, not having the energy to try to defend her ex-wife to her girlfriend. It was one of many reasons she'd been more and more unhappy in New York.

She missed her cartilage lab, her wounded soldier project, she missed running a department, having lunches with friends, she missed seeing Arizona in the corridor, even if they hadn't been speaking much she missed seeing her. She missed the rain, the way the ground smelt when it finished. She missed seeing Sofia smiling, she missed Seattle it was her home. She hated that nobody in New York trusted her judgement, that she had to work twice as hard to pitch her ideas to the chief and was back fighting for surgeries and OR time.

She'd been hasty following Penny she knew that now, only her pride had stopped her returning to Seattle, instead desperate to avoid her girlfriend, she'd thrown herself into work which meant she also saw a lot less of her daughter. But everytime she saw Sofia she was smiling reassuring her she was fine. Now she knew it was a smoke screen that Penny had threatened her into saying that. Still she should have noticed. She was her Mamma, she should have known.

Then had come the time she'd been dreading, sending Sofia to Seattle to spend two weeks with mommy. Callie wanted nothing more than to join her on that plane, again only her pride and stubbornness stopped her. With her daughter gone Callie had thrown herself into work sleeping in the on-call room not going home, until she got a call.

"Callie, you need to come home, the police are searching our apartment, they say Arizona's alleging we abuse Sofia. They want to arrest us. God, Callie I need you, she had gone too far this time, she is trying to ruin us, please come home" Penny's tearful call had forced her home, several officers were searching every inch of their apartment, from their underwear drawer to in the sofa cushions. No stone was left unturned, it was humiliating, all the neighbours were out the blue flashing lights drawing a crowd.

"She also issued us a restraining order, we aren't allowed within 100m of her or Sofia." Penny revealed. "They think we hurt Sofia, but she was fine when she left, there wasn't a mark on her, do you think she is doing this to split us up or to ruin my career, if anyone found out the police thought I was a child abuser it would ruin everything I've worked for. I love Sofia, you know that Callie, I looked after her every night, we had fun, she said it herself," Penny sobbed, Callie feeling lost hugged her tightly, confused and angry that her ex-wife had done this without even the decency to give her a heads up, to discuss it like adults. It was the custody case all over again, Arizona had approached a lawyer before even sitting down with Callie. Penny was right, this was a step too far.

"What is going on? Get out, please leave" Callie shouted at the police officers getting her phone out calling her lawyer, one advantage of being a Torres was having the best lawyers on standby.

"Ms Torres we need to ask you to come to the station we have a few questions"

"No, I haven't done anything, neither of us have, if you want me to come with you then arrest me" Callie challenged Not thinking for a minute they would, could they not see these charges were ridiculous, Sofia abused, there was not even the slightest possibilty of that happening.

"If thats how you want to play it" an officer said handcuffs out, across the room Callie could see another set of officers doing the same with Penny.

"Its just a precaution, I have to let you know you are under arrest for the suspicion of neglect, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you. Do you understand the rights I have just read to you?"

Getting in the marked police car being escorted downtown was coudn't believe they'd arrested her, handcuffed her.

The whole neighbourhood was watching, gossiping, making assumptions. It was humiliating. Callie had her lawyers meet her there, was Arizona this vindictive? The questions were vague, their evidence sketchy, her lawyers interrupting a lot and refusing to let her ask or answer questions, but the implication was that Arizona had alleged Callie and Penny had abused Sofia. They either had no evidence or if they had they weren't sharing it. Her lawyer called it a fishing exersize. He got her released with no charges, as she predicted there wasn't enough evidence. Of course there wasn't, there wasn't any evidence because Sofia wasn't and had never been abused.

Not able to go home, the police holding her home searching for evidence she booked the Archfield. Penny with her. While Callie was angry, Penny was devestated. For weeks she had been warning Callie about her vindictive ex. How petty Arizona had been to her when nobody was around. Callie had refused to believe it until now.

It was rubbish, the allegations they had to be, if Sofia was hurt Callie would know, if Sofia had any concerns Callie would know. Sofia would tell her if anything was wrong, of course she would. She had been fine when she flew to Seattle, they'd had pancakes for breakfast dancing around the kitchen, they weren't the actions of an abused child. There had to be some mistake her daughter had not been abused. Callie was exhausted, tired, embarrassed and had Penny sobbing in the next door room. Callie felt the same, a restraining order! Could she even do that? Ban her from ever seeing Sofia again. Heart broken and angry, she dialled the familiar number

Arizona what the hell" Callie screamed, "I thought you were over this, I thought you were the better person, the good man in the storm. They said you think I've abused my daughter, that i hurt Sofia, Arizona you know I'd never hurt you. How could you say such a thing. Stopping a mother from seeing her own daughter. Why, because you are jealous? Because you are selfish? If Sofia was hurt i would know, i'm her mother "

"Callie" Arizona tried interrupting

"No Arizona, you don't get to do this, you don't get to have Penny arrested, it could ruin her career, it could ruin my career. I was dragged out in handcuffs. Handcuffs! Una orden de restricción en realidad. es tan egoísta"

A restraining order really. It's so selfish.

Callie ranted letting her anger build, it wasn't fair to Penny. Sure, she had issues with Arizona but to start meddling with her new partner was unfair, it had been bad enough in court at the custody hearing, making it look like she didnt know Sofia but this was a whole other level.

"Callie is that how low you think of me, that I'd do this to hurt you, to get back at you." Arizona's words hit home; it was true. They'd both sunk lower than they wanted, but this, this was horrific but so was the thought it had truth, that someone had abused her daughter in their own home, she'd rather her ex-wife was pyscho than her daughter abused.

"I don't know Arizona I got home from work to find the police searching my apartment, my girlfriend arrested, and we have a restraining order. I was escorted to the police station, and was asked questions, they say you accused us of abusing her. Abusing our daughter! Arizona you know I'd never hurt Sofia. I don't even know you anymore, I don't even recognise this person you have become"" Callie defended

"I thought I knew Callie, I thought I knew everything about you, I guess we were both wrong" the phone hung up. Callie immediately tried to call back it went to voice mail, she tried again and again. This was not possible, Sofia was not and had not been abused. It was absurd. Needing to rant at someone Callie called Meredith to rant at her friend.

"She had the police search our home… she served us a restraining order….. she won't let Sofia come home. Ella mantiene a mi hija lejos de mí. Por qué rencor tiene que ser." Callie ranted.

She is keeping my daughter away from me. Why spitefulness it has to be.

"That doesn't sound like Arizona, I can talk to her find out" Meredith offered

"She won't even answer the phone" Callie moaned.

"Look stay put, sort out your schedule, I'll talk to Arizona it has to be a mistake, but get ready to fly out. I'll help you navigate the restraining order" Meredith ordered; Callie nodded feeling relieved Meredith would sort the Seattle side out get Arizona to drop these ridiculous charges.

In the meantime, she needed to talk to Penny, to double check that there was no way these charges had any weight. Sofia loved it here, and had said nothing, she couldn't have been abused, it was impossible, she'd know. So why was Arizona being such a bitch?

"Hey, you don't know anything, no matter how small as to why Arizona would think Sofia was being abused here do you?" Callie asked her girlfriend as they got ready for bed.

"I mean I didn't give her ice cream on demand, no TV until her homework was done, no sweets before bedtime but nothing abusive, there wasn't a mark on her when she left." Penny said removing her earrings,

"Your right" Callie agreed, if Sofia was being abused, she'd tell her Mamma, and her Mamma would notice. It was ridiculous, it had to be.

"You know Arizona isn't a nice person. I mean I know you love her but from what I hear she can be a bitch" Penny commented as she climbed into bed, she had been saying this for weeks, but now Callie had fallen victim to Arizona her words held more weight.

"No Arizona works with children she is loving and kind and perky," Callie defended.

"She slept with Leah when you were on a break and made her leave in the middle of the night. Then she cheated on you, threatened to cut off your leg, she told Jackson April was pregnant. She took you to court, sued you for custody of your biological daughter. These aren't action of a nice person; she may save unborn babies but that's the only nice thing she does." Penny ranted.

"No, Arizona is nice" even as she said it Callie couldn't believe it. Penny made some good points; she'd never looked at Arizona from an outsider's point of view.

"So why are we in a hotel, our apartment a crime scene and your daughter stuck in Seattle" Penny raised, "Why didn't she call you give you a heads up for old times' sake. I mean who serves their daughters' mum a restraining order, gets them arrested and orders a search warrant without even texting first? She is evil. She is trying to tear us apart" Penny ranted.

"I don't know" Callie said sounding broken, "I'm going to bed, Meredith will call as soon as she knows"

"Just admit it our lives would be better without her in it, if she had died in the plane crash" Penny voiced, "You'd have full custody of your daughter and we'd be in our own bed, without all these stupid baseless allegations hanging over us."

Callie only sighed, not wanting to agree with Penny but still unsure why Arizona thought Sofia had been abused, nothing made sense.

Hopefully Callie's action's make sense here, i love Callie i don't want her to come across as the bad guy. Penny in this fic is plenty bad enough for everyone.
