Kurt went home and looked through the aisles of the store near him, there were premade meals and desserts but nothing interested him. He headed into his apartment and put his salad in the fridge, even that didn't look appealing to him but he'd eat it tomorrow when he had a chance. He looked through the shelves but nothing had any sort of junk food he could indulge in. Well, he tried at least and he toed off his shoes and glanced around his apartment. He had a couch and a laptop set up on the coffee table and a bed a few feet away, only partially hidden by a curtain. It was a studio and a decent sized one too for New York but still not a ton of space or privacy.
He yawned and went to the couch, grabbing a pillow and snuggling in to wait for Sebastian's ring letting him know he was here.
Kurt woke up in his bed, feeling comfortably warm and wondering how he got there. Then realizing there were arms around him and a body pressed snugly against his backside. He then wondered how he got into his locked apartment and building.
Feeling the body move in his arms, the male behind him tightened his hold and pressed a kiss to the nape of Kurt's neck. "Go back to sleep."
Kurt wanted to make a quip about not wanting to do more but he yawned instead. He tried to see his clock but his gaze was too bleary, he had no way to tell what time it was. He closed his eyes and settled in again.
The next time his eyes opened it was warm and sunny in his small apartment. The bed was empty but there was a note next to his clock. Kurt glanced through it and laughed at the fact that Sebastian had brought him cheesecake and breakfast last night. Both he could freely eat without Sebastian.
Kurt rolled out of bed, his fingers sliding through his hair to tame it and headed to the bathroom to sort himself and his morning routine out. He was unbuckling his belt, fingers brushing against the jean material below when he realized they'd slept in his bed with him fully dressed. He already knew they hadn't done anything but he hadn't realized he'd been wearing his street clothes. He couldn't remember the last time he'd slept fully dressed like that. Pajamas yes, lounge wear sure but never street clothes.
He hadn't even brushed his teeth last night. Yuck. He had to have grime and gross build up. And Sebastian had slept right next to him throughout the night! There'd been one other instance where he almost fell asleep in his clothes but Sebastian had fixed that for them both.
Sebastian hadn't pressed for more last night. Kurt mused over that as he finished up in the bathroom and then headed into the kitchen to investigate the food. Neither had been touched and he reached for the breakfast treats but his hand went to the cheesecake instead. He looked at it for a long time. He could indulge in this for breakfast, once in his life, right? He continued looking at it before sighing and putting it back. Not today, it was a big day and he couldn't be filled up with sweets and cream. That would derail everything. He'd have it tonight, probably with Sebastian.
So instead he sought out what Sebastian had brought him and he grinned. Ok, so he could have one sweet before he headed out.
He sat in the hall with the other hopefuls for an hour before it was his turn and then he was told to wait in another hallway. He waited in that hallway for another 3 hours with a much smaller group and then they were brought in again one by one. Another 2 hours later and it was down to him and one other person. He was too jittery to eat the snacks he had brought, not wanting to throw up or had any of the crumbs on him or something in his teeth.
Finally a decision was made and it wasn't him that they chose. He sighed in disappointment and trudged out of the building, being second meant nothing in this field. They'd forget all about him and work on another round of candidates. They wouldn't offer it to him if something happened to the one they chose. They hadn't chosen him for a reason and that reason wouldn't change. They weren't interested in second best.
Kurt's mood for the day plummeted and he wasn't interested in anything. He was feeling like everything good in his life was a fluke, that they shouldn't want him because he was second rate in every way. He canceled everything for the rest of the day and went home and curled up in bed, forgetting about the salad and cheesecake in the fridge. Just wanting to shut the day out.
Sebastian tried calling him and texting when he canceled for the night. Sebastian had already known that Kurt was going to go through the lunch period so hadn't pushed on that score. Kurt turned his phone off when Sebastian wasn't the only one trying to reach out and talk to him.
Soon Kurt fell asleep again.
"How do you keep getting in?" Kurt asked when he felt the bed depress next to him and an arm slid underneath him. He was still sleepy and not fully there but he knew who was in the bed with him even before there was a kiss pressed to his shoulder.
"Everyone's worried." Sebastian said instead and pressed his long body up against Kurt's and just held him. "You turning off your phone is never a good sign. Interview didn't go well?"
"I got to the last round." Kurt answered and Sebastian hmm'd behind him, not pressing for more. "I always get to the last round."
"One of these days you'll get the last round. It's not right until it is." Sebastian nudged Kurt so he was laying on his back and Sebastian lifted himself up onto an elbow so he could look down at Kurt's face. "Did you eat?"
"Sure." Sebastian kept looking at him and he sighed. "No. I didn't feel like it."
"You know it's always problematic when Santana and Rachel reach out to me. Even more worrying when it's Elliott and Blaine."
"You only came because of them?" Kurt didn't feel like getting up, still didn't feel like eating.
Sebastian shook his head. "Of course not, I came because that's what I was going to do." Sebastian brushed Kurt's bangs back from his eyes. "It's always an interesting phone call when it's from your ex. Less interesting when it's from Elliott."
Kurt huffed a huge sigh and heaved himself back over onto his side, his back to Sebastian. "Not this again."
"I'm not going to start that up right now." Sebastian said. "I'm just having trouble finding something to entice you to eat."
"I'm not anorexic, why is everyone so obsessed?"
"No one said you were." Sebastian ran a hand along Kurt's arm. "It's just, you've lost a lot of weight and food doesn't seem to interest you."
"The cheesecake nearly got ate for breakfast, I ate your breakfast treats. I'm just in a bad mood right now, and don't feel like eating. I don't eat my feelings like some people."
Sebastian sighed and settled in behind Kurt. "Ok, ok."
"I don't feel like doing anything else, either." Kurt added for good measure.
"I haven't pushed for more." Sebastian defended himself and his actions. When Kurt still laid there facing away from him, closing him out, Sebastian gave up. "I'll see you tomorrow." He got out of bed and headed out, giving Kurt some time.
Sebastian regretted that decision all night long, he was unable to sleep, tossing and turning and unable to get comfortable. Something was missing from his bed and he knew exactly what it was.
