"I think it's time to tell me about what happened at the hospital." Kurt said as they laid in Sebastian's incredibly comfortable bed.
"Well you had a tumor and had surgery and we made our status official." Sebastian teased as he ran a hand over Kurt's chest, always so enamored by it for reasons that escaped Kurt.
"It's been a month since I collapsed and nobody is willing to tell me about the time I wasn't aware and conscious for."
"It's water under the bridge." Sebastian let it roll off but there was still a tense set to his shoulders with Kurt bringing it up.
"It's really not. Sebastian, you and the girls have never truly recovered from whatever happened." Perhaps he wasn't the one that needed to learn what happened, perhaps they needed to hash it out now that tempers and the situation was calmer.
"It's all their fault." Sebastian was terse and defensive.
"Come on, tell me, I can help make things better." Kurt urged.
"It's time to put the lotion on your incision site." The deflection was obvious.
"It's fine." Kurt brushed aside. "The sutures have been removed and the skin has healed over, which you well know since you are the one putting your hands on it daily."
"It's still not quite healed, the doctor said another month or so of monitoring and lotion so the skin has the best elasticity and least amount of scarring." Sebastian reached for the lotion, right next to the lube they'd used earlier. For once their usual attitudes after sex weren't the norm, Sebastian was still cagey and Kurt was pushing; which meant this was a very, very big deal to both of them.
"Sebastian." Kurt's voice was calm and direct. "What happened?"
Sebastian groaned and dropped back onto the bed, staring up at the ceiling knowing he wasn't going to be able to skate around this. "They called Elliott." There, he said it and let it answer Kurt's questions. He didn't add any more and Kurt propped himself up onto an elbow to look down at Sebastian.
There was definitely confusion and not understanding what he was talking about. "So?" For whatever reason, that response infuriated Sebastian and he rolled out of bed and started getting dressed, disregarding the fact that they both needed a shower and it was his apartment. "Sebastian?"
"They called Elliott." He bit out again. "And not me."
"Oh." If Sebastian had said that they'd called Elliott first, Kurt could have understood his frustration then too. But to call Elliott and not call Sebastian at all was a great insult to both of them and not even an oversight. They had tried to keep Sebastian from Kurt, he saw that, understanding that scene in the hospital now in context. Kurt's own temper flared then and he also got out of bed, wanting to go and shout at his female friends long and hard. "How did you hear about my hospitalization then?"
"I would have eventually figured it out." Sebastian pointed out as if that was an important piece of knowledge and before they became official, it would have, now it was just a given. "I would have come over once I realized you weren't coming here and would have found your apartment empty and would have called all of them until I got an answer."
Kurt nodded. "Of course." He would have too, Kurt knew Sebastian well enough to know that. At one point it would have been followed by a tease about how he was losing out on precious sex time and a willing sure thing. Now he knew it would have been for far more complex reasons than that.
"Elliott called me."
"Good." Kurt said simply but he was still pissed at the girls.
"Finn would have tried to keep it from me too." Sebastian scowled. "He said as much before he went home."
"Please tell me he said more than that." Kurt hoped his conversation with Finn would have gotten through to his brother.
"Sure he did, but nothing you'll be happy to hear." Sebastian paused and looked at the two of them half dressed, both angry at others outside this room. Suddenly he laughed. "What are we doing? The haters can stay out of this and we can go back to bed and enjoy us being together and away from those who wanted to derail us."
Sebastian pulled Kurt into his arms and bent to kiss him deeply and Kurt hummed his agreement into the kiss and slid the pants back off of Sebastian's hips. Sebastian's hands working at the clothes Kurt had pulled on too.
Still, Kurt didn't let this end here. He spent the time enjoying his time with Sebastian in bed but then when they emerged from their sex haze around lunch time. he called the girls up for dinner since he and Sebastian had lunch plans.
Sebastian probably would have kept him occupied until he had to go back to work on Monday, but Kurt pressed a kiss to his mouth and pulled away. "Join us after about 30 minutes, ok? I'll ask the waiter for food for you too. They'll probably just think it's me putting weight back on."
"Mmm." Sebastian's hands found Kurt's ribs. "Feels so much better in my hands than sharp bones." There was still a ways to go but he was definitely in the right direction over this last month. "Half hour, right, let me know when you get there so I can set my timer."
He was only partially joking and Kurt gave a small nod and then after a quick shower, headed out, fully dressed and ready to tackle the biggest threats to his happiness, his biggest critics. He was ready to ream them out and shore up his position and get them to understand it once and for all with no uncertainty remaining.
There was a brief moment as he headed to dinner that he understood what Sebastian was saying about Elliott, and how it had been Elliott who'd called him. The implication gave him a misstep in his walk to the restaurant, but it just reassured him that he was right and he needed to do this. He continued on his path, more determined than ever to make it clear to Rachel and Santana just how wrong they'd been.
He would make sure they never did it again. And they would apologize to Sebastian until both was sure they meant it and understood it.
