AN: We're almost to March! So close to making it through winter, though that really means nothing in New England. For those of you continuing to be disappointed that the updates are every 3-4 weeks, I apologize but that won't be changing. I will update sooner if I am able to but I have other things I write as well plus I have a job, family, friends that I'm balancing. I've found this winter to be exceptionally hard on my mental health so if any of you feel the same, know you aren't alone. Keep hanging on. Writing has saved me more than once and this is in large part to thank, along with all of you.
To the new reader who has been reviewing, I appreciate your reviews. I think this story has drifted so far from the original place I was going with it that I forgot about the beginning so thank you. It's been entertaining reading the reviews.
To those of you who hate Joanne and that drama, don't worry she will be gone eventually. There will be a purpose to that story line.
I hope this finds you all well, happy, and healthy, as usual. This chapter has been done for quite a while but I've been trying to get a few chapters ahead like I was before. Happy reading :)
Chapter Sixty-Three
"Hey baby." Callie said, not expecting to see her wife again so soon, she had literally left two hours ago from randomly dropping off lunch to her. Something magical had happened between them during their six days, Callie wondered if Arizona felt it too. The blonde had also been much more attentive and maybe a little clingy since the beginning of this new journey. Callie was loving it.
"Hey." Arizona said, a genuine smile on her face at the sight of Callie, though she felt like crying. She had considered not telling Callie about this but she quickly decided against keeping it a secret. She also knew she couldn't wait for her to get home to tell her, she was just too anxious to wait, plus they needed to get a lawyer immediately.
"What's wrong?" Callie asked, immediately picking up something in Arizona's demeanor.
"Do you have another surgery today?"
"Not unless I get paged to one. I was just going to work on some charts and my trial for the next few hours."
"Can we go talk in your lab?"
"Just one minute, ok?" Callie said. She left her wife at the nurses station and went to speak to Link and Jo. They assured her they had everything covered and would only page her if it was a 911 situation. Once she was sure work was handled, she returned to Arizona and led her to the lab. The fact that Arizona hadn't even attempted to make small talk with the nurses let Callie know that her suspicions were right and something was definitely up.
"I love you, Calliope." Arizona said as soon as the door was shut behind Callie. The brunette was caught off guard, she had no idea why Arizona started with something like that.
"I love you too but you're freaking me out so can you just explain what's going on?"
"I went on a run with Tori and Ruthie and when I got back there was a man at the door. He gave me this in a manilla envelope." Arizona said, handing Callie the single official looking paper. Callie leaned against the table to read the paper while Arizona paced in front of her ranting, "I'm so sorry, Callie. I never should have signed those papers when we got married. How could you give me access to your fortune? It's reckless. Now she can come after your money too. This is different from a medical grievance, she's going after my reputation and us financially."
"Woah, slow down. Breathe."
"I can't breathe, Callie."
"Arizona, we will hire a lawyer, in fact I'm sure my dad could recommend one. You have malpractice insurance for a reason. Everything is going to be ok."
"How are you so calm?"
"I figure we can't both have a meltdown at the same time."
"I'm so sorry."
"Stop. We both know you did nothing wrong. The board didn't find you guilty and neither will civil court. Stop apologizing."
"I just want all of this with Joanne to be over with."
"Me too honey." Callie said, pulling Arizona into a tight hug. She smiled as Arizona's body relaxed against hers. "How about some ice cream from the cafeteria? Nancy is working today and she just refilled the ice cream cart so you know it has the good stuff."
"Nancy does fill it with the best choices. You have time?" Arizona asked, managing a small smile at the thought of more time with her wife and ice cream.
"Absolutely. I'll bring Jo and Link an ice cream too, they can't be mad at me if I bribe them with ice cream."
"Thank you."
"For what?"
"For knowing exactly what to say and what I need. I thought you would be ranting and angry and possibly go off to find Joanne yourself."
"Well, as much as I want to do all of those things and I am angry, I know that it won't change anything. We just have to beat Joanne at her own game."
"How?"
"By just living our lives and not letting her think she has any effect on us whatsoever. I know it's disappointing that she caused an accident and there is no proof but she will slip up sooner or later."
"Look at you being all optimistic." Arizona giggled.
"Maybe you're rubbing off on me. Or maybe I'm just really happy and Joanne fucking Carter can't change that."
"I love you." Arizona whispered, placing a soft kiss on Callie's lips.
"I love you too, Arizona. I promise, one way or another, we will beat Joanne."
"I believe you."
"Good, now, let's go get ice cream. I could use some chocolate." Callie said, pulling Arizona from her office.
XXX Three weeks later XXX
"Hey Cal, mind if I sit?" Mark asked.
"Sure." Callie said with a shrug. She had just finished a long surgery that she had gotten called into and she was beat. And she still had six hours of her shift to go.
"You ok? You're looking a little pale."
"Just tired. I got called in before my shift started and then had to still work my regular shift. I am exhausted." Callie responded, yawning twice in that sentence.
"Well you look like crap."
"Thanks Mark."
"Why don't you go find an on-call room and nap."
"I can't, I still have another surgery to do. I just came for a cup of coffee and some food." Callie replied, pointing to her cup of coffee.
"I see the coffee, where's your food?"
"I ate some pound cake."
"Is that a euphemism?"
"No Mark, Jesus, you're a jerk today. Why do you have to turn everything into something dirty?" Callie asked, standing suddenly.
"Hey, calm down, I was just joking."
"It's getting old, Mark." Callie said, storming away. She really just wanted to cry. She was tired, irritable, and her boobs hurt so bad that the sports bra she was wearing was actually painful to rub up against them.
Looking at her watch, she cursed. She had surgery in ten minutes and she wasn't nearly ready for it. She liked to be much earlier to prepare for surgery and feel good going into it. She tossed her coffee cup in the trash can as she passed by and made her way to the OR locker room, taking the stairs two at a time. She made it with a literal minute to spare and was relieved to find that Jo was more than ready and capable to take the lead.
Four hours later, Callie exited the OR to scrub out. Jo was on a high, talking her ear off and while she felt an immense amount of pride for her resident, so much so that it made her want to cry, Jo's voice was also like nails on a chalkboard and she simultaneously wanted to strangle the younger woman. They exited the scrub room together, Callie instructing Jo to go check on their patient in post op and then round on their patient from earlier. She just needed five minutes without the eager resident rambling her ear off.
"Hey, you, how's your day going?" Arizona asked, coming out of the scrub room across the hall. They had both been busy the past week and had barely seen each other, only in passing.
"It's been busy."
"You look exhausted."
"I feel it."
"You only have two hours left, right?"
"Right." Callie replied.
"How about I go grab you a drink and a snack and you go find a quiet area to relax and maybe just do paperwork for the rest of the day."
"I can't just do paperwork, Arizona, I have patients, you know that."
"I know. I'm sorry, I'll let you get to them." Arizona replied, not sure what was up with her wife but knowing it wasn't the time or place for a fight. Callie had been snippy all week and the blonde had learned it was sometimes best just to walk away.
"What time will you be home?" Callie called grumpily after her wife. She hadn't wanted the blonde to leave and she didn't understand why she was so irritated.
"I'll try not to be late." Arizona said, knowing her schedule was crazy today and not wanting to make a promise she wasn't sure she could keep, especially with Callie being so on edge.
Callie made it through the next two hours without getting called into surgery or strangling Jo. She called that a win and rewarded herself by stopping at Starbucks for a third coffee. She felt slightly guilty knowing she and Arizona had agreed on one cup of coffee a day but she wasn't actually pregnant yet. Was she? Suddenly the date seemed to register with Callie and she smiled to herself. She considered taking a test to confirm but decided she would wait for Arizona.
While she waited for her wife to get home, Callie busied her mind with baking cookies. She was in a significantly better mood when she finished but still felt exhausted. The brunette glanced at the clock, still plenty of time to occupy before she could expect Arizona home so she put a movie on and fell asleep on the sofa. When she awoke, it was to the sound of the garage door opening and she was surprised to see the house was dark.
"Calliope?" She heard Arizona's worried voice call.
"I'm right here babe. I just fell asleep on the couch."
"I wanted to ask you something." Arizona said, setting her stuff down and rushing to Callie's side.
"I wanted to say something to you too, you go first."
"Don't bite my head off but, have you taken a pregnancy test? We have both been so busy but I stopped by my office and found my post-it with the date we were supposed to be able to take a test and that date was six days ago."
"I haven't. I forgot too and only just remembered today. I was going to suggest I take one. I was waiting for you."
"Dinner first or test first?" Arizona asked, feeling slightly anxious.
"Test." Callie replied with no hesitation.
"Ok." Arizona replied, holding her hand out for Callie. The two made their way upstairs, Callie entering the bathroom and Arizona sitting on the bed in their room waiting for her.
"How long does this one take?" Callie asked, setting the test down on Arizona's dresser.
"Three minutes."
"Want to take a quick shower together while we wait? I feel gross and three minutes is way too long to just sit here and wait."
"Ok."
The couple showered together, taking their time. They washed each other's hair and bodies, taking pleasure in the comfort they provided each other. No matter what the test said, it wouldn't change in the time it took for them to shower and relax. After a prolonged hug under the shower stream once they were both cleaned and rinsed, Callie asked Arizona if she was ready. The blonde nodded and Callie reached over and turned off the stream. They were both dressed in fluffy towels, Arizona with her hair on top of her head, and Callie with her towel tucked expertly to avoid her sore nipples.
"You look." Callie said, sitting on the bed feeling as though she was going to be sick.
"Ok, I will look, but Callie, no matter what that test says, I love you and you are the most important person in my life."
"I love you too." Callie replied, pulling Arizona in for a quick but passionate kiss.
Arizona pulled away first but placed a gentle kiss on the crown of Callie's wet head before she approached the dresser. She picked up the test, took a deep breath and looked at it with her back facing Callie. Callie's heart was hammering so hard it was all she could hear and feel. Arizona had been staring at the test for several seconds and Callie wasn't sure if that was good or bad.
"Arizona, what does it say?" Callie asked, bringing Arizona back to the present. The blonde turned slowly, a dimpled smile appearing on her face.
"Calliope, I think you're pregnant. We're having a baby." Arizona replied, running over to Callie to show her the test. Sure enough a little smiley face had appeared on the small window.
"Oh my God, Arizona, I'm pregnant." Callie shouted, jumping up and hugging her wife tightly.
"Take another one just to be sure." Arizona said, handing Callie a variety to choose from. Callie picked three more and headed to the bathroom, using all three tests and bringing them back out to line up on the dresser.
"I was so moody and I'm exhausted and my boobs hurt, I can't believe I didn't remember to take a test. I had three coffees today, Arizona."
"Callie, relax, it's ok. We both got busy. But no more having three coffees in one day after today ok. I know you're tired but eating healthy and getting all of your calories and vitamins will make you feel better than coffee will." Arizona replied, another giant smile gracing her lips as she watched all three tests turn positive.
"We're having a baby!" Callie squealed, pulling Arizona into a bone crushing hug and spinning her in a circle.
"Calliope put me down, you're pregnant." Arizona tried to scold but couldn't help laughing with Callie at her genuine happiness.
"I'll call Addie and confirm with a blood test but Arizona, I'm pregnant."
"I know." Arizona replied, unable to remove the smile from her face. She knelt down and placed a tender kiss on Callie's cloth covered belly. "Hey there bug."
"You can't call the baby bug, Arizona."
"Too late, I've already gotten attached to it." Arizona replied with a shrug. "Now, let's go feed you both."
XXX One week later XXX
"Congratulations, you're pregnant. You guys are having a baby." Addie said, entering the room where Callie and Arizona anxiously awaited the blood test results Callie had drawn earlier that day.
"Oh my God, there's a baby in there." Callie squealed.
"There were four positive pregnancy tests, Calliope." Arizona said with a giant dimpled smile. She hadn't stopped smiling in a week.
"I know but I was not believing anything until Addie gave us the absolutely, positive result."
"Well, I am officially telling you that you are absolutely pregnant. You've been taking prenatal vitamins and folic acid?"
"Since December, Arizona insisted I start them early."
"Great. Everything looks good, your blood pressure is good, labs are fantastic, I have no concerns. We will schedule you an ultrasound somewhere around ten weeks just to have an initial check."
"Ten weeks? Why not eight?" Arizona asked.
"We could do eight weeks but sometimes you can't hear the heartbeat and then moms freak out on me. We can always schedule an appointment sooner if you need to be seen sooner. And I am your best friend so you can call me anytime." Addie said, her smile nearly as big as Callie and Arizona's.
"Yay, Addie!" Arizona squealed, throwing her arms around the redhead and jumping up and down. Addie smiled, though she was visibly caught off guard as Callie laughed.
The couple spent the last twenty minutes of their appointment going over questions Arizona had woken up in the middle of the night and thought of, writing them down in her journal so she could remember them when the appointment came. Callie spent a significant amount of time arguing about coffee and caffeine. Addie assured both mothers that while none was best, one glass a day was acceptable as long as the rest was caffeine free and Callie drank enough water and got all of her vitamins.
"You know, you're overprotective, mother bearness is both sweet and annoying." Callie said as the couple left Addie's office to start their morning of work.
"I hope I'm not too annoying because it's not going anywhere."
"I know but can you just tone it down a little bit? Save some of it for when the baby is actually here?"
"I'm sorry. I just don't want to miss out on anything. I might not be carrying the baby but I still want to experience everything that I can. I want to feel like his or her mother."
"You are the baby's mother just as much as I am, Arizona. So, I will try to be less annoyed."
"And I will try to back off. I trust you and I know you will always choose what's best for the baby. I'm just so excited."
"Me too." Callie said. She stopped Arizona for a moment, pulling her into the nearby stairwell so they could share a kiss before they went to separate floors.
"What was that for?" Arizona asked but a big smile graced her face as Callie leaned her forehead against Arizona's.
"I'm finding you much more sweet than annoying now." Callie giggled.
"When should we tell people?"
"After our first ultrasound? I mean we should probably let Webber know, just in case there's anything I shouldn't be around."
"And so he knows not to overwork you."
"Arizona…."
"I'm sweet, remember?" Arizona asked, her dimples popping as she kissed Callie again. "Can I tell Teddy? I know Addie is our doctor but you have her to talk to and complain about my overprotectiveness with. I may need that too."
"Yes, of course, tell Teddy."
"And everyone else will find out after we tell our family."
"I can't wait. Do you want a boy or a girl?" Callie asked.
"I don't know. As long as it's healthy I'm happy, Callie."
"Me too. But do you have any guesses on if it's a boy or a girl?"
"I think it's a girl."
"Do you? Why?"
"Just a feeling." Arizona replied with a shrug. "Do you want a boy or a girl?"
"I feel the same way as you. I don't care either way. I kind of feel like it's going to be a boy though."
"Well, one of us will be right." Arizona smiled.
"Should we get to work?"
"I suppose. But when we get home can we go back to our little bubble?"
"The pretty pink one?"
"That's the one."
"Of course we can." Callie replied, placing a last kiss to Arizona's lips before Callie left Arizona to go down to her floor and Arizona exited the stairwell to head to the peds department.
XXX Four Days later XXX
Arizona sat by a window with her Spanish book laying open. She had studied the same page several times but her concentration was on the conversation she was going to have with Teddy. She couldn't wait to tell the blonde that she and Callie were having a baby and yet she felt slightly hesitant over it. She knew Teddy and Henry had been trying as well and she was concerned that her news might not be sensitive to Teddy. She and Callie had discussed it though and had decided that if the situation were reversed, they would be excited for Teddy and Henry, therefore, Arizona had invited her to lunch and was anxiously waiting for her friend.
She could see Frank parked across the street watching, as usual, with one of the other security members that she wasn't quite as familiar with. Frank had insisted at first in coming into the small cafe with her but she was too afraid he would overhear the conversation and had eventually won the brief argument. Arizona was lost in her thoughts and didn't notice the blonde woman approach her.
"Is this seat taken?"
Arizona jumped, startled by the voice. She looked up into the green eyes of the woman across from her and felt a fire build in her stomach. She blinked her eyes a few times, willing back tears of anger that were threatening to spill over and cleared her voice as the woman took a seat without waiting for an invitation.
"Joanne, what the hell are you doing here?" Arizona asked. Her recorder was sitting on the table from her replaying her lecture. She slowly began moving her hand toward it and clicked the red button to record.
"Just getting a coffee. I saw you and thought I would stop to make sure you got the letter my lawyer had drawn up."
"If you have questions for me, Joanne, you can have your lawyer speak to mine. Since my lawyer responded to your lawyer's letter, I would assume you already knew that I received the letter. So what do you really want?"
"Just wanted you to know that I'm here and I'm going to make sure you pay for what happened to my son." Joanne said. Before Arizona could respond, Teddy walked in, interrupting them.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Teddy asked as she approached the table. While Arizona had asked Frank to stay outside, Teddy's security detail had apparently missed the memo and stood beside her.
"I was just having a friendly chat with Dr. Robbins here." Joanne responded, cockily as she stood.
"These ladies don't want to speak with you. I suggest you go." The muscular redhead standing behind Teddy said in a gruff voice. He recognized Joanne from the picture they had all been shown when briefed on their security assignment.
"Give your parents my best." Joanne said before she stood and walked off.
"What did you say?" Arizona asked, standing so suddenly that her chair tipped over.
"I said, I hope your parents are recovering well. I heard they had a little accident not long ago. I do hope they are more careful so it doesn't happen again." Joanne replied, a wicked smile crossing her face.
"Go." The redheaded muscle man shouted, causing Joanne to flinch slightly.
"Are you ok?" Teddy asked Arizona, wrapping the other woman in a hug.
"No." Arizona replied as she looked around and saw all eyes on them.
"Come on, let's get out of here. We can order lunch and eat at my house." Teddy said, wrapping an arm around Arizona and escorting her from the building.
"My car." Arizona said.
"Have one of the details drive your car, you're coming with me." Teddy said, tossing Arizona's bag in her backseat before forcing Arizona into the passenger's side.
Once back at Teddy's house, Arizona felt much better. The shaking had stopped and some of the anger had dissipated. She just couldn't believe how bold Joanne could be and it terrified her. She had hoped that boldness would lead the other woman to say something she could catch on her recorder but Teddy had interrupted too quickly to get anything solid to use against her. Arizona had stewed about it for a while but decided to let it go in order to enjoy the afternoon with Teddy. Once lunch had been ordered, Teddy opened a bottle of wine, urging Arizona to the backyard to sit under the large umbrella surrounding Teddy's patio table so they could watch the rain that had started to come down. It was calming and cathartic.
"So, I know Joanne showing up like she did put a wrench in our lunch plans and it shook both of us a bit but I really am glad to see you and hang out with you." Teddy said as she took a large sip of her wine.
"Me too Teddy. I haven't even been over since Henry remodeled the kitchen. It's beautiful."
"I know, I just love it. We are going to finish the basement next so we can have an office and he can have a workout room. But more importantly he can get all of his baseball memorabilia out of our spare room closet."
"Callie and I have talked about redoing our basement as well. Maybe someday we will finish it. I'll have to talk to Henry about it, see if he can give me any tips." Arizona replied.
"Are you going to do the work yourself?"
"Oh I don't know. I'm sure I could get my dad and Tim to come help. Nick too probably. Maybe Henry. We could probably get it done fairly easily. I'm sure Callie would want to hire someone and we would probably need a professional plumber and electrician but it could be kind of fun doing it ourselves."
"It's not, trust me. Let Callie hire someone." Teddy replied with a laugh. Arizona was about to disagree but the doorbell rang with their lunch delivery. Besides, Teddy was probably right anyway, maybe home improvement projects should be left to professionals.
"Oh my God, I have not had food from Sushi Mania in far too long. Good choice Teds." Arizona moaned as she opened the package to see her sushi with kani salad before her.
"So, what was it you wanted to talk about?" Teddy asked, opening her own food and popping a whole piece of her dragon roll into her mouth.
"Well, there's a reason why when you mentioned sushi, I jumped on it."
"Why? Callie not a fan?"
"No, she likes it. But she can't eat it for a while. And since she can't eat it, I of course have been craving it." Arizona replied, moaning in satisfaction as she popped a spicy tuna roll into her mouth.
"What's wrong, is she on a special diet or something?"
"She is, sort of."
"Well, I didn't think Callie was one to be on the diet bandwagon. I mean, she's so confident and she's beautiful."
"She is, she's stunning. And actually she's not going to be losing weight on this diet, she will be gaining."
"Gaining?" Teddy asked, finally lowering her chopsticks to look at Arizona.
"Yes. Until the beginning of December anyway."
"Are you saying what I think you're saying?"
"Calliope is pregnant, we're having a baby. You're going to be an Auntie, again." Arizona squealed, unable to keep the charade going much longer.
"Oh my God, I can't believe it! Are you so excited? What did your parents say?"
"We aren't telling anyone just yet Teddy. You know and Addison knows because she is Callie's best friend and our doctor. We want to wait until at least the first ultrasound at her ten week appointment to tell everyone."
"Oh and Aria is pregnant too, right?"
"Yes, she's due mid July."
"If I get pregnant soon, all of our kids will be so close and grow up together." Teddy squealed.
"You're not upset are you?"
"Upset, no, why would I be?"
"I know you said you and Henry were going to start trying."
"We haven't officially tried yet. I mean we aren't not trying but I just wanted to wait a bit after we were married. He's amazing and I love him so much that it feels too good to be true sometimes. I think I'm ready now though."
"Oh our babies are going to be the cutest." Arizona squealed again. Teddy joined her and the two women talked of nothing else for the rest of the afternoon.
XXX Two weeks later XXX
"How is it possible that Cooper is one already?" Callie asked as she sat their birthday present for the little boy on the table.
The couple had arrived in Tacoma for the weekend celebrating their nephew's first birthday. It was a beautiful day for a birthday party in the park. Sara and Tim had invited a few of their friends from work that had children and kids from Cooper's daycare who were also in attendance. Nora was handing out punch and lemonade while Barbara walked around taking photo after photo. Cooper ran around, chasing the bubbles from the bubble machine, squealing in delight and clapping his chubby hands together in excitement.
"He got big fast." Arizona commented as she watched him and a few other children around his age chasing bubbles.
"Our ultrasound is in three weeks." Callie whispered in Arizona's ear.
"I can't wait."
"We could tell everyone today. What's telling them earlier than we planned going to hurt?" Callie asked.
"I know but we should tell our families at the same time, it's only fair. Plus, I really would like to wait until we hear a heartbeat. It just would make me feel better to know the baby is doing well before we say anything." Arizona replied.
"Our baby is perfect. Aside from the fact that he keeps making me so tired and I've started getting the worst nausea. I didn't even eat yesterday, I just opened the container to eat the tacos Teddy brought me and I had to vomit in the garbage can. Miranda treated me like I had the plague, she all but lysoled me and forced me to go home so I didn't spread my germs on everyone."
"Well maybe she doesn't like spicy food. You always put so much hot sauce on your tacos." Arizona said but she bent down as though she was tying her shoe and whispered, "Hey bug, be nicer to your Mami ok."
"Hey there ladies." Daniel said, walking over to the two women and placing an arm over each of their shoulders.
"How are you feeling dad?" Arizona asked, hugging him from the side.
"Much better, squirt. I miss Danielle though. Between her and your mama though, I think I gained about ten pounds from all the delicious foods they cooked together." Daniel said, removing his arm from around Arizona to pat his belly.
"I know, I'm sad she had to go back to Tennessee." Callie said.
"Oh she will be back. I told her to bring that boyfriend of hers the next time she comes. I want to make sure to have a talk with him." Daniel replied.
"Oh she's definitely gonna bring him now." Arizona giggled sarcastically.
"Your mom and I are headed back to Massachusetts next month. We scheduled a layover in Tennessee and we're going to go to dinner with Danielle and her parents."
"That's great dad, I'm excited you will get to meet them. How long will you be in Massachusetts?"
"Until the end of August, I think. We love it there in the summertime. We've talked about selling but your mom loves the house and it's been in the family for so long. We might just rent it out."
"Are you liking the house in SeaTac?" Arizona asked. She had been there several times since they moved in and she loved what they had done with the home. It was by far bigger than what the couple needed but Barbara wanted room for all of her family.
"Oh your mom and I love it. She's very excited to have Christmas together at our place this year. Speaking of, I need to go start the balloon animals or your mom will skin me alive. Callie, don't forget you're on face painting duty." Daniel said, pointing to the little station that still needed to be set up.
"Duty calls." Callie replied with a smile as she followed Daniel to her face painting booth.
Arizona walked over to the kiddie pool filled with all different colored balls and sat on the little stool so she could man her station. Teddy was sitting at the sidewalk chalk station, the two waved at each other and Arizona smiled as Teddy mimed something to her that she didn't understand. The blonde kept stealing smiles at her wife and finally, while all the kids were occupied with playing in the toddler jungle gym, Arizona made her way over to Callie and requested a painting for herself.
"I need some ink."
"This is washable paint." Callie replied with an amused smile.
"Just go with it, Calliope." Arizona smiled.
"Fine, where do you want your 'ink'?" Callie asked. Arizona pointed to her upper arm.
"I want a heart with an arrow through it and the name 'Calliope' in the middle of it."
"A bit cliche for your first ink, don't ya think." Callie replied, but she smiled as she began drawing her work on Arizona's arm. "There, all done."
"Wow, it looks awesome." Arizona giggled.
"Do I get a tip?"
"Yea, 'don't eat yellow snow'." Arizona replied before skipping away.
"Hey, you abandoned your post." Teddy said as Arizona returned to the pool full of balls.
"Sorry, I had to see my wife about some important business. What was with all the miming earlier?"
"I peed on a stick this morning and it was positive. Then I went to the drugstore and bought one of each kind they had and they all said positive, Arizona."
"Oh my God, Teddy!" Arizona exclaimed, throwing her arms around Teddy's neck.
"Henry doesn't even know yet so quiet down. I'm freaking out a bit."
"You're entitled to freak out but Teddy, you are so ready for this. And our kids will grow up together." Arizona smiled happily.
"Have you heard anything else from Joanne?" Teddy asked.
"No. I want to keep her away from Callie and the rest of my family. So, I'm listening to Carlos and the lawyers on this one and letting them handle it. We put out a do not contact order on her and it was approved. She is not supposed to contact any of my immediate family, Callie or myself. That includes you, Teds."
"I'm sure that made her happy."
"I don't know. I didn't tell Callie about the restaurant incident, I don't want anything extra stressing her out. That's why we're doing it this way. I don't want to know unless it's something I need to know for court purposes. Otherwise, I want our lives to be Joanne free until this whole thing is over. We don't have enough evidence for a criminal case but the lawyers think there's enough to at least threaten to counter sue. See if it makes her back off. If she doesn't, they will go through with what they have and hope it's enough."
"Isn't that adding fuel to the fire?"
"I think she's already done that, Teddy. Besides, what happens if I win the case? Is she going to go off the deep end and hurt someone again? Something has to be done. I can't wait and see what she does next. I'm tired of playing defense."
"I get it. Whatever you need, I'm here for you."
"Thanks, Teds."

Callie was irritated, as usual if she was honest. She had never felt so exhausted in her life and to add to that, the baby had decided it would reject anything she attempted to eat. Aside from donuts, ironically enough. But even more ironic, for someone who ate so many donuts in her life, Arizona was not keen on letting Callie eat strictly donuts. She had replaced her morning coffee with some green goo that was supposedly healthy for her and the baby but they had both vetoed it. Callie no more than swallowed her first sip and she was running to the bathroom. She grabbed a ginger ale and a sleeve of saltine crackers that she kept in her locker and laid on the bench.
She had left her surgery early, letting Jo close up so that she could vomit the banana she had choked down before going into the OR. Arizona was being annoyingly sweet and attentive which only seemed to irritate the brunette further. She sighed loudly and closed her eyes, falling into a soft slumber as her body relaxed. A loud buzzing disturbed her peace and she slammed a hand down to kill the offending object only to lose her balance and fall from the bench.
"Ooomph." Callie moaned as she saw both her phone and pager on the floor near where she landed.
"I must have fallen asleep." Callie said aloud as she sat up and reached for the phone and pager. Seeing she had missed several 911 pages and missed calls from Arizona, Callie scrambled to her feet, "Shit!"
"Callie, there you are. Are you ok? Arizona is freaking out." Jo said, running into Callie as she rounded the corner.
"I fell asleep on the bench in the locker room. What's going on with the 911 pages?"
"Kid on a bike got hit by a car. Dr. Robbins had you paged for surgery and after all three 911 pages went unanswered she was frantic. I've never seen Dr. Robbins lose it like that. Owen paged Link in, they're in surgery now. I was exiled from the OR so I could find you."
"Shit." Callie cursed, pulling out her phone to text Arizona.
"I'll page her. She will know you've been found. I was told only to page her when I found you and then not to let you out of my sight. She's kinda scary behind the pink and butterflies you know."
"She was just worried."
"Are you feeling ok? You do look kind of sick." Jo noted, taking a healthy step back.
"I'm not sick. Just having an off day."
"Why don't I walk you to Dr. Robbins office? She asked me to have you meet her there."
"Yea, ok. I'll just nap on her couch while I wait for her." Callie said, noting her shift had ended half an hour ago.
Callie woke with a start again, this time to the slam of a door. The brunette opened her eyes to find the office dark but she could see Arizona's silhouette from the light that her lamp on her desk provided. She watched the blonde toss her lab coat on her chair and then walk in her direction.
"You scared the daylights out of me today, Calliope."
"I'm sorry. I wasn't feeling well and I fell asleep in the locker room on the bench."
"You can't do that ok? You can't disappear. Joanne ran my parents off the road, she threw a brick through our front window, and she trashed my car. When I can't get a hold of you, all those things run through my head and it makes it very hard to do my job." Arizona said as she knelt down beside the couch and stroked Callie's hair.
"It was an accident. I'm really sorry I scared you."
"How are you feeling?"
"Better since the nap." Callie replied.
"Good. Let's get you home. I will make something bland for you to eat and draw you a nice bath. And then we can relax in bed and watch a movie for the rest of the night."
"That sounds amazing." Callie smiled.
XXX Seven days later XXX
"Addie, that is cold, a little warning would be nice." Callie grumbled.
"She's not a morning person and morning Callie without coffee is a bit more snippy than usual." Arizona explained nervously when Addison turned and looked at the blonde with an arched eyebrow.
"If I drink my coffee as soon as I get up then I will just vomit it all up before I even go in for surgery, especially since you make me drink the green goo. So there's no point in drinking it first thing in the morning."
"I drink it too and if you ate all of your meals, you wouldn't need the green goo."
"I can't eat all my meals because your child rejects everything I eat rather violently."
"Ok, I can see pregnancy is going great. How about we refocus and see if we can hear the heartbeat." Addie said. She placed the probe in the appropriate location and watched the monitor intently for a few moments before turning up the volume and adjusting the monitor for the women to see.
"There's a heartbeat." Arizona said softly.
"Hey there." Callie giggled through her tears as she rubbed a finger over the screen lightly.
Forgetting their morning argument, Callie reached for Arizona's hand and brought it to her mouth, kissing her hand affectionately. The blonde smiled brightly, and kissed Callie's forehead gently. The steady rhythm of their baby's heartbeat filled the room for several minutes before Addie printed some photos and handed the women several copies of the ultrasound.
"Everything looks great. I can prescribe you something for morning sickness if you would like."
"I don't know, is it safe?" Callie asked, looking to Arizona.
"It's used in pregnancy but nothing is without some risk." Addie replied.
"Maybe I can do some home remedies. Now that we can tell people, I'm sure Abuela has a trick." Callie said, not wanting to risk it.
"But if she does need it, can we still get the prescription?" Arizona asked. She had spent several mornings now cleaning vomit from Callie's hair and watching her wife be miserable without being able to do anything to relieve the nausea.
"Of course. My door is always open for you two." Addie replied with a smile. "You should start gaining weight now, not much but a bit. You've lost six pounds since our last visit. If you continue to lose, I would prefer you take the anti-emetics."
"She will." Arizona replied.
"Would you like to know your official due date based on the measurements and your ovulation?"
"Yes, we know it's the beginning of December." Arizona replied happily.
"It is, December fourth to be exact."
"Oh my God." Callie replied with a giant smile. Arizona squealed.
"I missed something." Addie replied.
"December fourth is Arizona's birthday." Callie explained with a smile at her wife's excitement.
XXX Three Days Later XXX
"Are you sure that Mother's Day is the day we should tell our families?"
"I think it's perfect but we don't have to do it today." Arizona replied.
"I'm so nervous."
"They are going to be so happy, Calliope. And it's a great way for us to celebrate the fact that we are about to become moms." Arizona assured Callie.
"Ok, you're right. I'm sorry."
"Baby, you are growing a tiny human, you don't need to apologize to me."
"You still love me?"
"More than ever." Arizona replied, placing a tender kiss on Callie's lips. "I bought us something."
Callie took the lavender colored back from Arizona and gave her a questioning look. The blonde woman had already made her a bland breakfast complete with a donut for dessert. Arizona had also given her flowers and brought her one of her favorite coffees from the little cafe across town. Her wife had more than made her feel special for Mother's Day already.
"Arizona, you know you don't have to do all this right?"
"Yes I do, you're carrying my baby, our baby. Besides, I want to. You have no idea how freaking happy I am." Arizona replied, a dimpled smile appearing on her face. This time Callie placed the kiss on Arizona's lips but Arizona ended the kiss entirely too soon for Callie's liking and said, "Now open your present."
"What is this?" Callie asked, pulling a tiny lab coat from the bag.
"We have them too." Arizona said, pulling two more from a bag beside her. She handed Callie one after looking them over.
Callie smiled as she watched Arizona put her own lab coat on. On it in hot pink print it read, "Dr. Arizona Robbins Torres, MD. Will be upgraded to Mama in December." Callie pulled her own out and read the scripted red letters, "Dr. Calliope I. Torres, MD. Will be upgraded to Mami in December." She took a closer look at the one in her hand. In rainbow writing it read "Dr. Baby Torres arriving in December."
"I love this so much, Arizona."
"I thought we could wear them on our zoom call with your parents this afternoon. Only if you like them though. And then we can wear them to my parent's house for dinner."
"I love them, they are perfect."
"Great because I have one more. Ruthie!" Arizona called. The dog came running, wagging her tail.
"What in the world?" Callie asked as she saw their dog dressed in a lab coat. In blue letters her coat said across her back "Ruth: Being ungraded to big sister of tiny human in December".
"I couldn't leave Ruthie out." Arizona said with a laugh.
"It's so adorable."
"I'm glad you think so."
"Are you ready to call your parents?" Arizona asked. It was still early but now she was just so excited to tell everyone.
"Are you sure you don't want to tell your parents first?"
"I told you, they get to see us in person, it's only fair we tell yours first. But we will have to swear them to secrecy until we tell my family."
"Ok, I'm so excited but also a little nervous."
"They are going to be so happy, Calliope."
"Ok let's call, we need to leave for your parent's house soon and I want to see if Tori or Mike can take a picture of us and Ruthie with the baby's lab coat before we leave."
Callie and Arizona took a few minutes to adjust their lab coats so that the writing was visible but not completely noticeable. It would be fun to see who spotted the messages first. Giving each other a quick kiss and clasping their hands together below the table, Callie pressed the button to call her parents.
"Hola Calita." Lucia said as she happily picked up the phone. "How are you?"
"We are great, Mami. Happy Mother's day. How are all of you?"
"Missing the two of you. Hold on, let me grab everyone." Lucia said.
The couple caught glimpses of the floor, wall, ceiling, and plants as they heard Lucia walking around the house calling out to everyone. Callie had to close her eyes to avoid the nausea from watching the phone be bounced around. Finally, Lucia's face came back into view and the whole family was gathered around the table beside the pool
"Aria, you look so good! How are you feeling?" Arizona asked, seeing her sister in law. She was in her third trimester now and due in just over two months.
"Fat." Aria replied. Everyone laughed but Jared placed a kiss on her temple.
"You're not fat, you're having a baby."
"Do you know what you're having?" Callie asked.
"No, we decided to let it be a surprise." Aria replied.
"Callie, your skin looks so good, what are you using?" Nonna asked.
"Just the same lotion I always do."
"Has Arizona made you start eating better?" Lucia asked.
"Yes." Arizona replied with a sly smile.
"Why are you wearing your lab coats? I thought you were having dinner with Barbara and the Colonel." Carlos asked.
"We are daddy."
"Well that's not Arizona's work coat, where's the monkey?" Maria asked.
"You're right. What does that say?" Lucia asked, squinting her eyes to read it better. Arizona watched as her eyes suddenly widened and she looked from Arizona's coat to Callie's and then back again. Arizona turned to Callie and nodded her head. The brunette took her wife's que and pulled the little lab coat up between them.
"Oh my goodness, Callie, Arizona…" Lucia cried.
"What? What does it say? I can't read it, Lucia, what does it say?" Maria asked.
Lucia read all three of the lab coats aloud to her family as she cried. Carlos smiled a large smile and lit a cigar with Jared. Aria squealed in delight and started talking a mile a minute. Maria consoled Lucia while Nonna did a little dance over to the pitcher of margaritas and filled everyone's glass.
"To Calliope and Arizona. Congratulations on the addition to your family and ours. You will both make wonderful mothers." Nonna said, holding up her glass and waiting for everyone else to join.
"Salud, Mija, Arizona." Carlos said, holding his glass up so they could all clink them together.
"Wait, so who is pregnant?" Aria asked.
Arizona urged Callie to stand and everyone gasped and jumped up and down as they saw the two little rainbow baby feet plastered to the belly section of Callie's lab coat. Callie smiled at her wife, she hadn't noticed that little detail before.
"Both of my girls are having babies." Lucia cried harder.
"Mami, don't cry." Callie said, her own tears surfacing as Arizona squeezed her hand and brought it to her lips to kiss the strong fingers holding her hand like a lifeline.
"These are happy tears, Callita. Estoy muy feliz."
"I'm happy too, Mami. So happy."
The family continued to talk excitedly for several more minutes. Lucia, Maria, and Nonna showed off the necklaces they had received from Callie and Arizona for mother's day. Aria had also received one from them with a little ruby inside a pregnant belly hanging from it. They answered as many questions as they could before they had to hang up to leave for dinner with Arizona's family. The Torres family agreed to keep it a secret a bit longer. They had agreed to tell their family and close friends but did not want it announced anywhere just yet. Arizona was terrified of what Joanne might do if she found out, though she didn't voice that out loud.
Forty minutes after hanging up with Callie's family, the women were on their way to Arizona's parent's home in SeaTac with Ruthie in tow. Tori had shot several photos of them in the backyard and in front of the mantle of the fireplace before they left. She and Mike were tailing them to SeaTac before they would be relieved by Frank who was currently at Barbara and the Colonel's house. Frank would stay at the house with them while everyone else went to enjoy time with their families.
Arizona and Callie were the last to arrive, they waved to Tori and Mike as they drove off and the two headed inside with the salads and desserts they had made along with presents for Barbara, Sara, and Nora. Teddy's would have to be given in a more private setting since she had not announced her own pregnancy yet. They were both greeted with hugs and kisses by most everyone except for Daniel, Tim, and Nick who were manning the grill. Henry stood close to Teddy and Arizona flashed them a knowing smile as she placed a hand on Callie's lower back to guide her to a table.
"Did you guys come straight from work? I thought you were off today, Callie. And Arizona I thought you worked last night."
"I did, mom. And Callie was off today."
"Then why are you wearing your lab coats to a family cookout, take them off right now." Barbara said, reaching for Arizona's coat and stopping as she caught a glimpse of Callie's in the process.
Arizona and Callie both watched as realization hit the woman. She smiled widely and hugged them each tightly. She grabbed the hem of Callie's lab coat and ran her fingers over the tiny baby feet before hugging the taller woman again. She looked around before speaking.
"Does this mean what I think it means?" Barbara whispered. Callie pulled the tiny lab coat out and handed it to Barbara. "Oh my God."
"You're going to have another grandbaby, mom. Callie is pregnant." Arizona replied, a dimpled smile on her face.
"How far along?"
"I just had my ten week appointment. We got to hear the baby's heartbeat and everything is great. Except her baby won't tolerate anything but donuts." Callie said, shooting her wife a look.
"She's only my baby when she's making Callie vomit." Arizona replied, rolling her eyes.
"She?" Barbara asked, the excitement in her eyes suggesting she was ready to burst.
"We don't know yet. I think it's a boy, Arizona thinks it's a girl."
"We can find out in as early as six weeks who is right and who is wrong." Arizona replied cockily.
"Don't you want to be surprised?"
"I want to be prepared. Do you not want to find out?" Arizona asked Callie. They hadn't discussed this or many things now that Arizona thought about it.
"We can talk about it later."
"Well, I'm going to go hide this in plain sight and see how long it takes for everyone else to notice." Barbara said, clapping her hands before she scurried off.
"Food is done!" Daniel announced, bringing over a tray full of hot dogs and burgers to sit at the empty part of the food table. "What's this?"
Everyone turned to see Daniel pick up the tiny lab coat with confusion and read it. Arizona watched in amazement as her dad placed a hand over his face and began to cry. She and Callie exchanged a bewildered look before Arizona got up and made her way to her dad, pulling him into a hug.
"Squirt is it true, you're having a baby?" Daniel asked, wiping the tears from his eyes quickly and clearing his throat.
"What? You're pregnant lil Robbin?" Tim asked, rounding the table and picking Arizona up in his arms to spin her.
"No, I may be having a baby but Callie is the one who is pregnant." Arizona giggled.
"Oh, sorry, Cal. I am so happy for you!" Tim said, dropping Arizona unceremoniously and running over to Callie to drop her.
Arizona barely stayed upright as she wobbled from the abrupt way she was placed on her feet after being spun in several circles. She shook her head and smiled as everyone congratulated them. They each hugged everyone and then they all left them alone for a moment to line up for food, baby news on the back burner when food was in play.
"How are you holding up, baby?" Arizona asked, tugging a strand of hair behind her wife's ear.
"Not too bad. A burger and some of your mom's potato salad actually sounds pretty good." Callie replied.
"Say no more, I will go make you a plate."
"No veggies. Just ketchup and extra pickles." Callie called. Arizona turned with a smile and gave her a thumbs up.
Tim and Daniel went out front and returned with Frank, insisting he eat a meal with them. Arizona smiled as she watched him make a burger and get an extra helping of her mom's famous potato salad. Cooper giggled as he dropped his food to an awaiting Ruth. Arizona shook her head but kept her nephew's secret from her wife. She was deliriously happy and she wanted to enjoy the feeling but there was a little dark cloud named Joanne lurking behind every happy thought.
"Your mom's potato salad might be a lifesaver. I think it's the first thing I've had all week besides donuts that the baby seems to tolerate."
"I'm sorry you haven't felt so good this week. When we get home I will give you a foot massage and you can have a nice bath."
"If I had known you would be this sweet to me when I was pregnant I would have agreed much sooner." Callie replied with a wink. Arizona playfully swatted at her before leaning in and kissing her.
"Oh my God you two are just the sweetest." Barbara said, joining the couple sitting off in their own world.
"Your potato salad is amazing, Barbara."
"Callie hasn't been able to keep much food down lately."
"Oh but the baby loves donuts, go figure." Callie replied, rolling her eyes.
"I was never sick with Timothy, I could eat anything. But with Arizona, the only things that child let me eat were strawberries and oreos. Oh and on occasion, an egg salad, dill pickle, and banana sandwich."
"Ok, that potato salad may not stay down after all."
"Oh, sorry Callie. The point of my story was these ginger chews my friend gave me saved my life. I still use them when I get an upset stomach. I'll grab a bag for you to take home and try." Barbara said, hopping up and running into the house.
"You ok?" Arizona asked, noting the paleness of Callie's skin.
"Yeah, I think so. I don't think I will complain about potato salad or donuts anymore though."
"Do you want to go home?"
"No, I'm enjoying being here with everyone. Do you mind if I just lay on the lounge chair and rest for a bit?"
"Oh course not. Go get comfy, I'll find you a blanket. Maybe dad will start a fire in the pit later."
"That sounds nice." Callie said as she climbed into the oversized lounge chair and got comfy.
"Where are you going?" Barbara asked as she passed her daughter.
"Just to grab Callie a blanket. She isn't feeling well but wants to stay and visit. She's laying down in the lounge chair."
"I brought her some cola syrup and a bag of ginger chews. Grab one of the soft blankets that we keep inside the bench." Barbara directed.
"Thanks mom."
"I'm so happy and excited for you both. Can I ask a question?"
"Sure mom."
"Why did Callie decide to carry first? Lucia and I both thought it would be you."
"Oh well, we talked about it and I am the one that wanted to start a family first but I just always imagined Callie carrying our first child. I want to but I'm not quite ready yet. Callie, thankfully, was ready and willing to go first."
"Are you happy?"
"Insanely happy, mom."
"It looks good on you."
"Thanks. Let's get back out there, I don't want Callie to feel too miserable." Arizona said. She smiled as they approached Callie and the woman appeared to already be sleeping.
"Let her sleep." Barbara said, removing the blanket from Arizona's hands and placing it over Callie. She sat a bottle of water and the ginger chews and cola syrup on the table and then pulled Arizona off to visit with her family.
Arizona played one round of kickball with her family in the giant backyard as she kept a watchful eye on her sleeping wife. She was up closer to the house and firepit while the family had moved down closer to the edge of the yard to keep from disturbing the sleeping woman. Teddy had feigned a headache and Nora declined the invitation to play so the two sat by the firepit a few feet from Callie cheering them on. Cooper sat in the sandbox, not far from Teddy and Nora, playing with his trucks and laughing at Ruth digging in the sand. Nick was their permanent pitcher, leaving the teams split up into two with Arizona, Henry, Kacie, and Frank on one team and Daniel, Barbara, Sara, and Tim on the other.
After an intense game that Arizona's team won, Daniel started a fire and Barbara dug out the stuff for s'mores. Arizona made her way over to Callie who had woken up part way through the game and watched from her lounge chair with a giant smile. The blonde sat down next to her, stroking her hand over her back as she did. Callie scooted closer, wrapping her body around Arizona's.
"How are you feeling?" Arizona asked gently.
"Like eating an ooey gooey s'more." Callie giggled. The ginger chews had been laying beside her and she had been pleasantly surprised to find they actually did help.
"You want me to make you one?"
"No, you will burn my marshmallow."
"You like them burned."
"Apparently not anymore." Callie shrugged, pointing to her belly.
The couple spent another hour sitting around the fire with the Robbins family. Both soaking up the knowledge that this would be their first year of the rest of their lives where they would be celebrating this day as moms. Arizona couldn't keep the smile off her face and Callie found a new love of lightly toasted marshmallows, or at least their tiny human did.
XXX Two weeks later XXX
Arizona sat on the sofa of the plane they had received as a wedding gift with Callie's head in her lap and Ruthie's head on her feet. She couldn't move if she wanted to. She was reading the grievances that Joanne had cited against her and she had three weeks to respond. She could either admit guilt or deny the claims. She intended on doing the latter, she would never admit to intentionally allowing a patient, let alone a child, die. And to let anyone think she could be so callous. She regretted the moment she stepped into Joanne Carter's lecture hall.
The blonde looked down and smiled as Callie sighed in her sleep. The brunette had begun to show, she had the smallest baby bump that had created all sorts of havoc that morning. Callie had been hysterical trying to pack her suitcase and stating she was too fat for any of her usual Miami attire. They were flying to Miami for Aria's baby shower and a much needed break from constantly looking over their shoulders in Seattle. Arizona had been slightly more on edge recently between Joanne, keeping her pregnant wife from hysteria, and that same pregnant wife not wanting anything to do with anything intimate. It was the first time Callie had ever really denied the blonde in that way and it was frustrating even if she understood it.
"Are we there yet?" Callie asked sleepily from Arizona's lap.
"Not yet. We should be close though." Arizona replied, not looking away from the papers in her hands.
"Are you still reading those papers?"
"I just want to make sure I don't miss anything."
"Put them down and snuggle me." Callie said, pulling the papers from Arizona's hand and tossing them in the chair across from them.
"Callie…" Arizona said, feeling annoyed but she looked down at her wife and smiled, giving in.
Callie lifted her head and scooted her body back far enough to allow Arizona to lay down in front of her. Callie immediately pulled Arizona against her and rested her hand between the blonde's breasts. Arizona immediately sighed at the closeness and intimate position. Two months without sex was a new record for them, one that Arizona was not enjoying but also wanted to be patient and understanding of her wife's current condition.
"I can hear you thinking." Callie whispered, her hot breath against Arizona's neck causing goosebumps to appear over the skin there. Arizona heard Callie chuckle against her pulse point as the brunette recognized her wife's arousal.
"I'm just frustrated with this case." Arizona whispered. She felt Callie's left hand slide between the blonde and the couch they were laying on while her right hand slid down Arizona's abdomen and played with the skin under her shirt.
"Oh, is that what you're frustrated with?" Callie teased. Arizona felt a familiar thrumming of need between her legs at the sound of Callie's amused voice. It really had been too long.
"Mmmhmm." Arizona replied.
"Hmmm." Callie said, sounding unconvinced as she toyed with the button to Arizona's dress pants, her other hand unbuttoning two of the buttons on Arizona's blouse.
"Ohh." Was all the blonde could respond with as she felt Callie's hand slip inside her shirt and massage her breast through her bra.
"Should I stop then?" Callie asked with no intention of actually doing so.
"No, please don't." Arizona pleaded. Callie smiled before maneuvering the single button and zipper of Arizona's pants down.
The brunette wasted no time shoving her hand down into Arizona's pants and thong. The blonde moved her leg to give Callie more room and the brunette smiled. She had missed touching her wife this way and in turn, she had missed the blonde's touch. But she was just so exhausted and felt anything but sexy. She just couldn't bring herself to let Arizona touch her. But this, this she was more than enjoying she thought as she felt the wetness between Arizona's legs. The women both let out a satisfied moan.
Callie circled Arizona's entrance twice before slowly pushing one finger barely inside. She dragged her finger up to the blonde's engorged clit and rubbed slow circles. Arizoan gripped her arm tightly and the brunette knew it wasn't going to take Arizona long. She could already feel the blonde's legs trembling, feel the way her body arched into her own, and hear the little puffs of breath escaping Arizona's mouth. She dipped down again, collecting more moisture before returning to the erect bundle of nerves and applying a little more pressure. Arizona's hips jumped at that and Callie held her tightly against her front.
"Oh god, Callie." Arizona moaned, her whole body shook and she went rigid against Callie. The brunette rubbed a few more soft circles against Arizona, eliciting another small orgasm before removing her hand from the blonde's pants.
Arizona turned to face Callie, placing a kiss on plump lips and hugging her against her tightly. Callie returned the hug, stroking blonde hair soothingly. She melted as Arizona's body relaxed into hers. She loved that she could provide that for the blonde when she was stressed and needed a safe place to relax. They held each other for a few more moments when the flight attendant announced they would soon be starting their descent and needed to take their seats.
Arizona got up slowly and helped Callie up. The brunette waited as Arizona put Ruth in her kennel and the couple walked to the aisle and took their seats together, watching as the plane descended over Miami. They were both excited for Aria's baby shower but equally as excited to have five days away from home together. They would have to work all of memorial day weekend the following week to make up for it but that was ok with them. They would make the most of these five days.
"What do you think Aria is going to have? I hated buying neutral colored things." Arizona replied, still sulking at not being able to buy the fluffy pink dresses she had been eyeballing.
"I hope for Aria that it's a girl. I'm not sure she would do well as a boy mom. But I know she will be excited either way."
"Do you really not want to know the sex of our baby?"
"Well, we have four weeks before it is even a possibility. But I'd kind of like to be surprised. The tests all came back great so far and that is really all that matters to me."
"But neutral colors." Arizona moaned, flopping against her seat with a pout.
"Arizona, if you want to buy a big pink fluffy dress, I will put our child in it. Gender norms are only what they are because adults make them that way."
"You would be ok with our son wearing a pink dress?"
"If he is happy in it, I really would be happy with it." Callie replied.
"I'm going back to that store to buy that dress." Arizona replied matter of factly.
"You do that, babe." Callie giggled.
"What about the nursery?"
"What about it?"
"Should we use the second guest room?"
"That's what I thought we would do. It's closest to our room. Unless you want to make the office into another bedroom and move our office to the basement once it's finished."
"Maybe that's a child number two project. I like the idea of the baby being close to us."
"Do you know how you want to decorate?"
"Well for a girl I kind of had an idea but if you really want it to be a surprise we could do something neutral and add more color later."
"Any ideas?"
"Baby animals would kind of be cute."
"I thought for sure you would say you wanted a disney room for the baby."
"I haven't ruled that or Harry Potter out yet. I just figured you would veto both of those." Arizona giggled.
"You're not wrong." Callie replied with a loving smile. "What about names?"
"There's a lot that I like and a lot that I don't. Have you thought of anything?"
"Only if it's a girl. I have one request."
"What?"
"I want her middle name to be Robbins or Robbin, we could take the s off if that makes you feel better about it. I want to keep your family tradition."
"Robbin, really?"
"Yes, it's something I don't want to negotiate on but if you really hate it I will consider an alternative middle name or a second one of your choosing."
"I think it's sweet that you want to do that and you know my parents will be crazy happy about it." Arizona replied, a dimpled smile popping out even if she wasn't crazy about the name.
"Do you have any first names picked out?"
"No but maybe when we get home from Miami we could each make a list of boys and girls' names to compare."
"Ok, I like that idea. What if we don't like any of the same names?"
"We will find something, I'm not worried."
"We could always just stick with bug." Arizona replied, bending over and placing a kiss on the new baby bump.
"We are not naming the baby bug."
"We'll see." Arizona giggled.
