Hey guys how's everyone doing? Still enjoying this story? The beginning of this one is Callie's story.
Chapter 4
The sun was setting over the ocean, they stopped to watch the colors in the sky turn from orange to purple, then to pink "it sure is gorgeous" Callie commented
"yes it is"
"you're looking at me" Callie smacked her arm
"and your point would be?" Arizona smiled, wrapping her arms around her tighter, Callie felt Arizona sigh "is everything alright"
"well um" Arizona moved her hand down feeling the pocket of her shorts, it felt as if it were burning a hole in her pocket. She let go of Callie and stepped back, causing Callie to give her a quizzical look. Arizona reached in her pocket, cupping it in her right hand. Taking a deep breath she got down on one knee "Calliope, I have loved you since the moment I set my eyes on you, you are the air that I breathe, you're the sun when it breaks through the clouds, I know that you're all that I need, and I hope that you never have any doubts about how I feel" Callie couldn't stop the tears from streaming down her face, as Arizona took her left hand, sliding the ring on her finger, "will you marry me?"
xxxxxxxxxx
"hey you" Arizona said walking into the room, "what are you working on?"
"ah nothing" Callie slammed her laptop shut, she didn't want Arizona to see what she had just wrote "just that story I've been working on"
"I'd love to read it"
"when it's done" Callie smiled standing up "took you long enough" she said seeing the bag Arizona had around her shoulder "you moving in?"
"well" Arizona let the bag slide down to the floor "no, but I thought I'd bring some stuff to leave here, you know so I'm not bringing stuff back and forth"
"ah, I should do that with your house"
"if you want" Arizona smiled picking up her bag and setting it on the bed unzipping it
"here, let me clean a drawer out for you" Callie stood up, taking a deep breath, her mind was on what she just wrote, and having Arizona right there wasn't helping her thoughts.
"what's your story about?" Arizona asked they were putting the stuff she brought away
"a boy and his dog"
"seriously?" Arizona laughed
"no" Callie shook her head
"then what is it about" Arizona asked again, Callie stopped, turning to look at her. "it's about you and me"
"us? Hmm nice" Arizona smiled "then why can't I read it"
"because, it's not done yet" 'and I'm embarrassed'
"well, I can't wait to read it, if I can help in anyway let me know" Arizona smiled as she put the jeans she was holding in the drawer Callie had just cleaned out
"you already have"
"I have?"
"huh? What?" she didn't realize she said those words out loud, Arizona didn't say anything just laughed "there" she closed the drawer "all moved in" Callie couldn't help the smile from forming on her face. "it'll be nice when we are living together"
"I know" Arizona said taking her in her arms "someday, I'm just"
"I know" Callie said reaching up putting her finger on Arizona's mouth "it'll come" she leaned in placing a soft kiss on her lips.
xxxxxxxxxx
"no, no I got it" Arizona said into the phone, making her way into the bedroom "yes, I'll check my email and get back to you. April spat off a few more things "alright I'll see you tomorrow"
"Arizona, it'll all be ok" April smiled into the phone
"I know" Arizona sighed "I'll check my email and get that stuff printed"
"ok, talk later"
"yeah" Arizona said letting the phone slide down her arm, catching it before it hit the desk. Reaching up, she opened Callie's laptop.
"hey, do you want" Callie started to say walking into the bedroom seeing Arizona sitting at her laptop, she froze. When Arizona had gotten there the day before she was working on her story, forgetting to close the program, she just slammed it shut. Arizona looked up from the screen, into Callie's eyes "it's ah"
"Arizona it's just a story"
"it's, it's good" she stammered out "you're a good writer" with Arizona's response Callie knew she had read it. "I'm sorry April wanted me to check my email and I just thought it'd be easier on the"
"you don't have to be sorry" Callie said walking over, she reached around Arizona and closed the program, neither saying anymore about it.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"I have to go to the office tomorrow, that email confused me" Arizona said later that night while they were laying in bed
"ok" Callie said forcing a smile, she was still freaking out Arizona had read that part of her story
"Calliope" Arizona whispered "I think we should talk about what I read"
"Arizona, it's just a story"
"I know but" Arizona sighed "I want you to know, I love you, and give it time, all that will happen, I'm just"
"you don't have to say anymore" Callie silenced her with a kiss, then laid her head upon her chest.
"but I want to. What you wrote, it was so" Arizona paused thinking of the right word "eloquently written, something I wish I could say, but I know when the time comes words will frail me"
"Arizona"
"Calliope, I love you, nothing in this world will change that, but after everything with Mark" Callie nodded, knowing it always went back to that "I just" she sighed "how about, after we get back from this tour, we'll have the moving in together talk, or even while we are on tour, I don't know" Arizona closed her eyes, her head was starting to pound
"are you ok?"
"yeah, just another headache"
"did you bring those pills?"
"they're in my bag" Arizona no more than said the words, Callie was out of the bed digging through her bag "here" she whispered handing her the pill bottle and a bottle of water she had brought up after dinner
"thanks" Arizona sat up, reaching for the items, popping a couple pills in her mouth swallowing them down with the water.
"I'm sorry I'm stressing you out" Callie whispered, the last thing she wanted was for Arizona to get scared and run
"no, baby, it's not that" Arizona said laying back down "I just, I'm not ready for all that"
"I know, it was just a story" she whispered, Arizona looked up into her eyes "trust me" she reached up move some hair out of Callie's face "it'll happen" she leaned in placing a soft kiss on Callie's lips, pulling her down so Callie's head was on her chest, kissing the top of her head "I love you"
"I love you"
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"hey, can I talk to you for a minute" Arizona asked standing in the doorway to April's office
"sure, give me 10 minutes I'll meet you in your office" April said not looking away from the computer monitor
"sounds good" Arizona smiled making her way to the next door, sighing she sat down in her chair. The picture of her and Callie, she had on her desk, stole her attention. Thinking back on what she had read. 'I do love her, what would be so wrong with getting engaged?' she was lost in her thoughts when she heard April come in "penny for your thoughts"
"it'd take more than that" Arizona laughed "could you shut the door"
"what's up?" April asked sitting in a chair on the other side of Arizona's desk
"um, so as you know Callie likes to write" April nodded "she's been working on a story that's about us"
"oh? That sounds intriguing"
"I thought so" Arizona smiled "anyway, after our phone call yesterday, I went to use her laptop, she had forgotten to close the program, and"
"you're freaking out about what you read" Arizona nodded "what did it say?"
"it was me asking her to marry me" Arizona sighed "the way it was written April it was so" she paused not finding the right words
"wrong?"
"no" Arizona looked at her and laughed "not at all"
"how are you feeling about it? I mean, do you want to marry her?" April asked moving in the chair crossing her legs.
"I" Arizona looked in April's eyes and smiled "yes I do"
"then what are you freaking out about, go get a ring and do it"
"in the story, she has us on a beach, with the sunsetting" Arizona sighed "I just don't think I could come up with something that amazing"
"I see" April smiled "so, while we are in Denver, take her up to the mountains at sunset, or something, hell one of the shows is in Georgia, take her to the beach after that show, or once we're back go on vacation somewhere where there is a beach, and wait until sunset"
"you're a genius" Arizona smiled reaching for her phone, sending Teddy a text.
"Teddy?" April smiled
"yeah, my sissy will know what to do" Arizona smiled "thanks"
"I didn't do anything but your welcome" April smiled, standing up. "I'll talk to you later"
"sounds good" Arizona smiled at her friend/manager, watching her make her way out of the office. She sat back in her chair, eyes glued on the picture again. Her phone vibrating on the desk with a call from Teddy "hey dork"
"what did you mean by you need my help?"
"well" Arizona smiled sitting back in her chair, this was going to be a long conversation, it was a good thing she was done with her work "you know how Callie's writing that story?"
"yeah"
"well" Arizona sighed as she went into detail about what she had read.
"I see, so now you think you have to propose?" Teddy asked
"well it's not that, I just"
"Arizona, don't do it if you're not 100% ready, I know you love her, hell the whole world does" she paused "just do what you think is right, don't rush anything, she deserves the best, and rushing it might freak you out, and we both know what happens when you get freaked out"
"you're right" Arizona sighed "have you done it yet?"
"no, not yet, I was thinking" Teddy stopped "how long will you be in town?"
"a couple days, they have us staying in" Arizona paused looking for the information on the hotel she was thankful they weren't making them stay on the tour bus, that was a headache and a half, with so many people crammed into that small bus. Finding the information, she was looking for she rattled off the name of the hotel
"hold on" Teddy said, Arizona could hear typing "funny, that's not far from our place"
"good" Arizona smiled
"ok, Addie is off work that weekend so maybe we could take a day or two and the four of us head up to the mountains" Teddy no more than said the words, Arizona was smiling thinking about what April said "there's this one place, oh my god sissy the view is amazing, I was thinking I'd take Addie on a hike, and there's this spot where you can see for miles, off in the distance it looks as if you can see the ocean, but it isn't" Teddy laughed "I was going to ask her then"
"we might have to pass on the hike" Arizona frowned "if I'm not going to propose, I don't want to be around when you do, it might give Callie some more ideas" Arizona said leaning forward with her elbows on her desk, as her office phone rang "oh sissy hold on a minute I have to get that" she didn't give Teddy the chance to reply before she removed her phone from her ear "this is Arizona"
"hey sexy" she heard Callie say, she could feel her face turn red as she said "hi"
"when are you going to be done?"
"soon, very soon"
"good I'll be waiting" Callie smiled "you want dinner?"
"are you gonna cook?"
"was thinking so, dad is gone so"
"ok" Arizona smile "I'll be home in about an hour, I'm just finishing up"
"sounds good I love you"
"I love you" Arizona said hanging up the phone, she reached for her cell again "sorry"
"that was Callie?"
"yeah, apparently her dad is gone so"
"you'll be having lots of sex tonight"
"we do that when he's home"
"nice" Teddy laughed
"well I have a few things I need to get done before I can leave, and have that lots of sex, I'll talk to you later sissy"
"alright, I'm going to reserve the rooms at that Inn in the mountains"
"sounds good sissy, let me know what I owe you"
"ok" Teddy smiled "bye sissy love you"
"love you too" Arizona smiled pulling her phone away, she looked around the room. Eyes settling on the picture again. Taking a deep breath, she smiled, turning off her computer and putting things in the right place, she couldn't stand when her desk was a mess, and somehow April always managed to push shit around even when she didn't touch anything. Shaking her head and laughing at the thought, she pushed her chair back, reaching for her bag, she shoved a few items in it, and made her way to the door. "have a good weekend Susan" she smiled
"hey, you said it right this time" Susan smiled
"yeah" Arizona smiled "no headache this time"
"that's good, have a good weekend Arizona, and if I don't see you before you leave, have a good tour, I know you'll be amazing, you always are" Susan smiled turning red, Arizona couldn't figure out if she was trying to hit on her, or she was just being nice. "thank you" she nodded with a smile and left the building.
xxxxxxxxxxx
"Lucy I'm home" Arizona called as she walked through the door
"in the kitchen Ricky" Callie hollered back, smiling Arizona set her bag down by the door, "I love how you" she was stopped midsentence at seeing Callie standing next to the stove in a dress, she didn't wear them too often, Arizona's breath caught in her throat when Callie turned around, she was wearing an apron over it "how I what" Callie smiled
"um" Arizona blinked a few times clearing her throat "you um, you look amazing"
"thanks, although this apron doesn't do a thing for my curves" Arizona moved closer taking Callie in her arms "I think it's cute, and you always look beautiful" she kissed her
"dinner is almost ready, if you want to set the table"
"I'd love to" Arizona placed another kiss on her lips, and moved to get the plates out
"how was your day?"
"oh, you know" Arizona smiled thinking about the conversations she had with both Teddy and April. "Teddy wants to go up to the mountains for a few days while we are in Denver"
"we're going to be there that long?"
"we can be, the next show isn't until Friday, so I was thinking we could just meet them there, I don't have to be there until the day before to do sound check"
"hmm how?" Callie turned looking at Arizona
"well either fly, or rent a car, won't be that hard"
"right" Callie smiled
"um" Arizona cleared her throat "Teddy is going to propose to Addie" she said closing her eyes, not wanting to see Callie's reaction
"that's awesome, it's about time" Callie smiled, Arizona let out the breath she was holding.
xxxxxxxxxxxx
Later that night while they laid in bed, Arizona couldn't keep her mind off the conversations she had earlier that day. Callie felt her take a deep breath underneath her "is there something wrong?" she asked raising her head to look at Arizona
"no, why would you think that?"
"well" Callie frowned "you've been breathing heavy, sighing and taking deep breaths, leaves me to believe something is up"
"oh" Arizona looked away
"Arizona" Callie said
"ugh, fine" Arizona took a deep breath "your story, kind of got me"
"Arizona it's just a story" Callie protested
"I know" Arizona sighed "but it"
"baby" Callie moved so she was looking at her "I love you, do I want to marry you? Yes, there's nothing in this world I want more, but I know you're still trying to figure shit out, when the time is right we'll know and one of us will ask the other and we'll be all disgustingly happy" Callie smiled leaning down to kiss her
"you sure have a way with words" Arizona laughed
"I am a writer" Callie smiled leaning in again, this time she ran her tongue along Arizona's bottom lip, asking for Arizona to open her mouth, as she did, their tongues touching, Callie felt that all too familiar feeling in her stomach, crawling on top of Arizona, her hands found their way under Arizona's shirt, and to her breast. Moaning at the contact, Arizona closed her eyes, as Callie raised her shirt higher taking her nipple in her mouth. "god baby, I love you so much" Arizona whispered, all Callie could do was smile. She loved how Arizona was when they were making love, which seemed to be a lot. It seemed as if Arizona had become addicted to it. Which Callie didn't mind one bit, she too was addicted to Arizona, Arizona was something like a drug she could never get enough of.
"you know" Arizona said once Callie came down from her high "I'm pretty disgustingly happy right now" Arizona laughed
"mmhmm, me too" Callie said kissing her "me too"
xxxxxxxxx
The next day Arizona was sitting at her desk, staring at the picture again. The memory of the night before playing on repeat in her mind. "wow someone looks happy, you have some good sex last night" Arizona couldn't help but smile "something like that"
"nice" April laughed walking in taking a seat on one of the chairs "how long you here?"
"a few hours, was trying to work but"
"that's what you normally do when you're here is work" April chuckled
"the conversation we had yesterday keeps replaying in my mind" she looked up into April's green eyes "I'm thinking maybe"
"you gonna do it?"
"I'm thinking maybe" she looked at the time "do you want to grab some lunch? Maybe swing by the mall"
"I'd love to" April smiled standing up "give me ten minutes and I'll be ready"
"I'll meet you out front" Arizona smiled, reaching up turning her monitor off, she saw her phone, reaching for it she quickly found Teddy's name, and hit talk. "sissy"
"hi sissy"
"what's up?"
"I, ah, I'm going shopping"
"did mom and dad forget to buy toilet paper again?" Teddy laughed
"not that kind of shopping" Arizona smiled, she missed her sister
"oh" Teddy said, Arizona waited a second to let it set in "oh my god really?"
"I think so, but not until we are there with you"
"we could do it together" Teddy said all giddy
"I don't want to steal your thunder" Arizona smiled reaching for her keys, as she shut her office door, locking it behind her
"you wouldn't be, most of our lives we've done everything together, why not this too" Arizona smiled hearing her sister say those words "thanks Teds, I'll call you later"
"you better send me a pic of the ring you pick"
"I will" Arizona smiled, looking up she saw April "I gotta go"
"alright sissy love you"
"love you too" Arizona smiled hanging up the phone and shoving it in her pocket
"you ready?" April smiled
"yup" Arizona took a deep breath and smiled
xxxxxxxxxxx
"how about this one?" Arizona said pointing in the case,
"I like it" April smiled "it's pretty basic, which is Callie, but yet says I love you"
"would you like to see it" the man behind the counter asked, Arizona looked up and nodded, with a smile, he handed it to her, as she put it on, she and Callie had about the same size fingers, and it fit perfectly. "what do you think" Arizona asked holding out her hand
"I think it's beautiful and she'll love it" Arizona looked up at the man and smiled "I'll take it"
xxxxxxxxxxxx
"alright we got that out of the way, now what?" April asked
"I guess it's back to the office then home to pack" Arizona frowned
"you still don't want to go do you"
"no, not really"
"this is your last tour, get through it and you'll be done, and can do what you want" Arizona just smiled. They left the mall heading back towards the studio "I think I'm going to head home, I'm not getting anything done here"
"ok" April smiled "I'll see you Tuesday morning"
"yeah" Arizona rolled her eyes
xxxxxxxxxx
In her car on the way home, she made a mental list of all the stuff she needed to do in the next few days. Lost in her thoughts she didn't even realized she pulled up outside her house. "wow that was quick" she said shaking her head, turning the car off and getting out. In her room, she looked around, sighing she sat on the bed. She pulled out the ring, examining it she couldn't help but smile, Callie was sure to love it. "I really should start packing" she sighed standing up, setting the ring on her dresser, she went into the closet for her bag, not finding it, she realized it was in the bus, she hadn't been anywhere that she would have needed it since that trip. "guess I better go get one" she rolled her eyes, looking around. Hearing the front door open, and close, thinking it was her mom, she headed downstairs thinking maybe she had a bag she could use, she really didn't feel like going out again. "hey mom, do you have a duffle bag I can use" she said making her way down the stairs.
"why don't you use the one you left at my house" Arizona heard, getting butterflies in her stomach at the sound of that sweet voice
"because" she smiled "that one isn't big enough"
"oh, well let's go get one, I think I might need a new one too" Callie smiled nodding towards the door, Arizona looked back at her room, "ok" she finished her decent down the stairs grabbing her purse on the way out the door, following Callie to her truck. "every time I see you in this I think classic lesbian" Arizona laughed
"yeah, but I love it, and so will you come winter" Callie smiled as Arizona leaned over giving her a kiss "how was your day? I didn't expect to see you home yet"
"it was alright, April and I went for lunch and I did a little shopping, then came home early, figured I'd start packing, but then I realized my bag was in the bus and well" she shrugged
"ah yeah, then you'll need a new one" Callie smiled as she turned the corner "why didn't you get one earlier"
"it wasn't that kind of shopping" Arizona said cursing herself for saying too much
"what kind of shopping was it?"
"just some window shopping" Arizona tried to cover her tracks making a mental note to get to her bedroom before Callie did, so she could hide the ring.
"oh ok" pulling into a parking spot at the mall "this is where you wanted to go right?"
"this works" Arizona said unbuckling her seat belt and hopping out, walking around to open Callie's door but she was already standing outside before she got there. "well fine then" Callie smiled reaching for Arizona's hand.
"while we are here there's a store I want to check out"
"lead the way" Arizona smiled as Callie pulled her through the doors. Smirking when they walked passed the jewelry store her and April were at earlier "hello Miss Robbins" the man who helped her said as they walked by, Arizona smiled and nodded "I trust everything was to your liking" Arizona's face went beat red, sending a silent prayer up to whatever god was listening Callie didn't hear him, she smiled and nodded as Callie pulled her away in the direction of the store she wanted to go to.
"what did that guy mean?"
"huh?" Arizona asked trying to sound confused
"well he knew you"
"baby everyone knows me" Arizona smiled that part was 100% true
"but he asked if everything was to your liking"
"oh, um" 'quick Arizona come up with something' "April and I were in there earlier, she got a new necklace"
"ok" Callie said, making Arizona hope she believed it.
xxxxxxxxxxx
"I'm going to go put this in your room" Callie was carrying the stuff they had just bought,
"ok I gotta pee quick" Arizona smiled heading into the downstairs bathroom, then making her way up to her room. "I fucking hate packing" she said walking over to the bed where Callie had put the bag they had just bought. She was waiting for some sort of comment from Callie, but nothing came. Which confused her, Callie always had something smart to say. Turning to look, Callie was standing in front of Arizona's dresser holding the box in her hand. 'quick Arizona think of something' "I um" Callie had the box open, as their eyes met. As if she didn't have control over her movements Arizona walked closer, got down on one knee and said "Calliope, you know I love you" she paused to clear her throat "will you marry me?"
"Arizona, I" Callie started to say, as Arizona reached for the box, taking the ring out, reaching for Callie's left hand, sliding the ring on, it fit perfectly, then looked in Callie's eyes "Arizona, I don't know what to say"
"say yes" Arizona whispered
"you don't" Arizona silenced her with a kiss "I do" Callie took a deep breath, pulling away "Arizona I just"
"ok this wasn't how I was planning on doing it, but it happened, and I did"
'Obviously Arizona had given some thought to this why would she have a ring otherwise' was one of the many thoughts Callie had running through her head. She so badly wanted to say yes, and fly into Arizona's arms, but something inside her kept her from doing those things. She stepped back, looking at her finger. "Calliope" Arizona whispered, Callie had tears in her eyes, when she looked into Arizona's. "Arizona I don't know what to say" she sniffled "and here I go again, how do you make me go from this big bad ass to this crying baby in 2.5 seconds" Arizona reached out for her, but Callie pulled away "what's going on?"
"I so badly want to say yes" Callie sniffled
"then say it"
"I, I don't think I can, I don't think either of us is ready for this step, hell it took us until a month ago to finally spend the night together, and have sex"
"that doesn't change how I feel"
"and I would be all over it, if it wasn't for the reason"
"what reason"
"you read my story" Callie cleared her throat "and I can't help but think if it wasn't for that, you wouldn't have thought to propose"
"actually" Arizona said stepping closer "I have thought about it, I just"
"you weren't ready" Callie took the ring off, putting it back in the box "I can't say yes, not right now, we aren't even living together"
"I wasn't living with" Callie cut her off "and here we go again, it always goes back to him. Arizona, I know this whole being in your first lesbian relationship is hard for you, you're still trying to find yourself, which is amazing, I love the fact that I'm the girl who caught the completely straight Arizona Robbins, but you can't keep comparing what we have to what you had with him" by the time Callie finished she had tears streaming down her face, Arizona reached up softly wiping them away, the look in Callie's eyes told her what she didn't want to hear. "I love you" Callie whispered through the tears, "but I can't marry you" Callie moved away and turned to leave. Sitting in her truck in the driveway, sobbing, she so badly wanted to say yes, but she knew Arizona wasn't ready, reaching into the glove box for a napkin to blow her nose, she caught site of Arizona standing on the front steps. Callie took a deep breath, slamming the lid closed she blew her nose. Arizona ran up to the truck, just as Callie put it in reverse backing out of the driveway. In her rear-view mirror, she saw Arizona hit the ground. In what she assumed was in tears. Instead of heading home, she drove around town, ending up at the lake, the same lake they had went to the first night they kissed. Pulling out her phone, she scanned through the pictures of her and Arizona that she had snapped over the last 7 months. Tears still rolling down her face, she looked out over the water. Sighing heavily, she put her phone away, getting out of her truck, she needed some fresh air, and a walk.
xxxxxxxxxx
The sun was setting as Callie made her way back to the parking lot. Feeling a little better about her decision, she was going to call Arizona and make sure everything between them was ok, once she got back to her truck, she knew if she took her phone with her she'd be forced to change her mind about the proposal. Still lost in her thoughts, she made it closer to her truck, it didn't register right away that there was a person leaning against it. "hey" the voice said, Callie couldn't help but shiver from the sound of it, Arizona's voice always did that to her, it didn't matter if she was listening to one of her songs or talking to her. Taking a deep breath, she managed to get out "hi"
"I had a feeling you'd be here"
"yup, you know me well" Callie commented as she passed her, she reached up pulling the tailgate down, hopping up sitting on it, nodding for Arizona to take a seat next to her.
"I think we should talk"
"yeah" was all Callie said, Arizona was the one who needed to start the talk, she wasn't about to. "so um, I'm sorry you feel like I keep comparing everything with us to what I had with Mark, I know it's not the same, hell I'm not even the same person I was back then" Callie nodded "Calliope" she whispered, Callie hated being called her full name, but there was something about the way it came out of Arizona's mouth that she never wanted to correct her. "that wasn't how I was planning on doing it, Teddy and I have this whole romantic evening planned, and we"
"so, you have given a lot of thought into it?" Callie whispered she saw Arizona nod, as she reached for Callie's hand "yes, your story got me thinking, but I wouldn't have bought the ring if I didn't think I was ready" Callie didn't say anything just looked forward "please say something" Arizona whispered, feeling the tears sting her eyes. Callie took a deep breath "Arizona, I love you, and there's nothing more in this world I want more than to be your wife, but I just don't think that either one of us is ready for that, not at this point in our relationship" she turned looking in Arizona's blue orbs, that were hardly visible due to lack of light
"I understand" Arizona said "so" Arizona cleared her throat "are we, um"
"we're ok" Callie leaned in kissing her "I want to be with you, but not be engaged quite yet"
"ok" Arizona said a smile finally finding its way to both of their faces, after the last couple of hours of tears and sadness. "can we go home?"
"who's?"
"either one" Arizona smiled "but we were in the middle of something at my house"
"then I'll follow you to your house" Callie said leaning in and kissing her again, this time she ran her tongue along Arizona's bottom lip, Arizona opened her mouth, as their tongues touched, they felt that familiar spark, which had Arizona pushing Callie back on the bed of her truck, climbing on top of her, she reached down unbuttoning Callie's pants, sliding her hand in, finding Callie's panties soaked with want. Arizona moaned, as she slid her hand inside them, finding the entrance to everything Callie, she slid one figure in quickly followed by another, feeling Callie moan at the contact. Not breaking the kiss, they were locked in, Callie started to ride Arizona's hand, it didn't take long, maybe it was the fight, or maybe it was exhilarating thought of being in public, Callie wasn't sure, but she came within a few seconds of Arizona's first touch. As Arizona retracted her fingers she heard Callie whisper "god I love you" she couldn't help but smile "I love you too" she leaned in kissing her again "why don't we take this somewhere more private, where I can have all of you"
"mm" Callie smiled
"besides" Arizona said bringing her hand up to her mouth licking her fingers "I need to taste you, this just isn't doing it" Callie couldn't help but laugh, as Arizona moved off her she buttoned her jeans, both hopping off the tailgate. "can't say I've done that before" Callie commented as she slammed it shut "but I've always wanted to" Arizona reached out pulling Callie close to her whispering "next time it'll be better and planned" she kissed her cheek
"that was pretty amazing, I kind of liked that it wasn't" Callie smiled leaning in kissing Arizona "I'll meet you at your house"
"ok" Arizona smiled "I love you"
"love you" Callie smiled making her way to the driver's door. Once inside she sighed, she was having a hard time not saying yes. She so badly wanted to marry Arizona, but she knew deep inside, they weren't ready for that yet.

"I'll meet you upstairs, I'm going to grab us something to drink" Arizona said once inside the house
"ok" Callie made her way to Arizona's room, seeing the ring sitting on the dresser, right where it was when she first found it "you would have thought she'd put it away" she said walking over picking it up. She opened the box, looking at it. Arizona had good taste, the ring was perfect, something Callie would pick out for herself. Lost in thoughts she heard Arizona say "sorry I should have put that away" she set the drinks she was carrying down, and reached for the ring "no" Callie said pulling it away from her, Arizona gave her a confused look "I, um" Callie looked at her "I want to wear it"
"but"
"I know what I said" Callie looked down at the ring "what's wrong with us being engaged? It's not like we have to get married tomorrow" saying the last part she looked up into Arizona's blue orbs
"so, you're saying yes?"
"as long as we wait to get married, yes, I'm saying yes" Callie smiled, she couldn't believe what she was saying, she saw Arizona reach for the box, take the ring out, and slide it on her finger. "perfect fit" Arizona smiled, pulling Callie's hand up to her mouth and kissing it. Callie reached up with her free hand touching Arizona's cheek, "I love you"
"I love you" Arizona said leaning in and kissing her. Callie pushed them back to the bed, climbing on top of Arizona.

"good morning girls" Barbara smiled as they made their way into the kitchen
"morning" Arizona groaned, making her way to the coffee pot, handing Callie a cup. Then sitting down at the table.
"so what's going on for today?" Barbara asked
"I have that interview, then we need to pack" Callie smiled "didn't get very far last night" she wrapped her hand around her coffee cup
"oh that's right you leave tomorrow" Barbara smiled, moving her head, "oh what do we have here"
"I knew she'd zone in on that right"
"Daniel, I think our daughter has some news she needs to tell us" Barbara reached out for Callie's hand. Daniel looked up and smiled "looks that way" he looked at Arizona and winked.
"um" Callie said not knowing what to say.
"yes, we are but" Arizona was cut off "oh we have a wedding to plan" Barbara said standing up, "I still have the stuff from when we were starting to plan"
"mom" Arizona said trying to get her to understand "sit"
"honey, you should listen" Daniel said seeing the look on Arizona's face, he knew there was more to the story
"yes, we are engaged" Arizona said seeing her mom jump up and down in her chair like an excited little school girl "but we won't be getting married anytime soon" Callie smiled at Arizona
"well why the hell not?" Barbara asked sitting back in her chair, "you two are perfect for each other"
"because I'm not" Arizona started to say but stopped
"we just want to wait" Callie jumped in "we know we love each other"
"actually" Arizona took a deep breath "Teddy and I have this big romantic night planned, where we were both going to propose"
"what?" Barbara got excited again "your sister is going to? Oh my god Daniel"
"here we go" Daniel rolled his eyes laughing
"both my girls are going to be engaged, oh we could have a double wedding, where you both wear matching dresses"
"ugh" Arizona slapped her head, Callie watched her laughing. "mom" Arizona tried to get her to calm down "there's no guarantee Addison is going to say yes"
"oh she'll say yes" Barbara smiled "who could say no"
"and I highly doubt that they will be wearing matching dresses, when was the last time you saw Teddy where a dress" Daniel smiled
Arizona shook her head looking at Callie "we need to figure something out, Teddy's going to flip when she finds out"
"so why don't you take the ring back, and that still do what you had planned" Barbara smiled
"but I love wearing it, it's so perfect" Callie said holding her hand out staring at the ring.
"it is, and it looks amazing on you" Arizona leaned over kissing her cheek "I'll figure something out, I always do"
"I should go get ready" Callie smiled standing up "I have to run home before my interview, then I need to pack"
"ok" Arizona smiled, watching Callie stand up from the table
"I'll see you later for dinner" Callie asked leaning down to kiss Arizona
"yup" Arizona smiled and whispered "I love you"
"I love you too" Callie winked "bye guys see you later"
"I'll see you at 10" Daniel smiled, Callie nodded and headed out the door. Once in her truck, she looked down at the ring, smiling, Arizona had proposed, and meant it. It was as if all of Callie's dreams were coming true. With a smile on her face, she started the truck and headed home.
Think it's a little too soon for an engagement? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
