Thanks for reading. And again I don't own the characters just the idea, and of course any mistakes lol.
Chapter 7
Arizona sighed as the car pulled up to the venue. She saw April standing outside, phone up to her ear, as per usual, when they were on tour Brad was calling every day wanting updates. Arizona got out of the car, Callie not far behind her, reaching for her hand. She heard April finish up on the phone and hang up. "hey, how was your flight?" she asked looking at them.
"it was alright, slept through most of it" Arizona said
"good" April nodded "you ready?"
"no" Arizona said looking at her
"I'm sorry, just 3 more shows and you're done"
"thank god" Arizona said following April into the venue
"this shouldn't take too long then you can go back to the hotel" Arizona nodded, watching Callie hop up making herself comfortable on one of the huge speakers, as Arizona prepared for sound check. "did you want to use this?" April was holding up the wireless mic. Arizona nodded, watching April toss it at her.
"yes, I really liked it at the last show" Arizona said placing it in her ear, she really liked how it gave her freedom to move around the stage more and hold her guitar. April just nodded "alright let's get this over with"
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"Arizona go towards the left" Rick the lighting guy said he wanted to make sure the lights were right
"here?" Arizona said moving to the left side of the stage, she heard a "mmhmm" shaking her head, of everything she hated this the most, it just seemed so tedious, and April was normally down her throat about everything, Arizona rolled her eyes, as April started in on her "ah there it is" Arizona mumbled to herself.
"alright I think we got it" Rick said
"ok can I go now?" Arizona asked taking the mic out of her ear tossing it back to April, who set it back in the case it came in.
"yeah" she nodded "hey" she looked up at Arizona "what's your plans for dinner?"
"um" Arizona looked at Callie who was still sitting patiently on the speaker. "I'm not sure, why?"
"maybe we can go grab something, I know this amazing restaurant, not far from here"
"let's see what she has to say" Arizona nodded towards Callie, smiling seeing Callie watching the band bring the equipment in, Bruce was whining about how heavy the drum was, and no one was helping him.
"what's with him?" Callie asked looking at Arizona and April
"Bruce?" April laughed; Callie nodded "he's just" she stopped not knowing what to say Arizona cut in "super gay"
"yeah that" April turned to look at him "I used to say he's more girly than I am"
"you're gay?" Callie asked, she would have never suspected
"mmhmm" April smiled looking back at Callie
"babe, April was wondering if we wanted to get dinner"
"I'm game" Callie smiled hopping down off the speaker with a thud, she was only 5' 3" not too short but short enough to where Arizona, who stood about 5' 7", had to reach stuff on the top shelves for her.
"great" April nodded "I know this place not far from here"
"oh right, you're from here"
"well a suburb" April smiled nodding towards the door "shall we?"
"I'm starving" Arizona looked at Callie who nodded, reached for her hand, following April out.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"and then Arizona came in" April was cut off by Arizona laughing "no, no don't tell her that"
"oh, come on it was hilarious" April went on, between laughs "she, oh my god I thought she was going to shit her pants"
"I did not want to see that" Arizona covered her eyes
"he wasn't, on the bus?" Callie laughed sitting back in her chair, seeing Arizona nod "poor Bruce"
"poor Bruce, what about me?" Arizona laughed "I was the one who had to see that"
"you should have knocked"
"I didn't think anyone was on the bus, we were parked at a rest stop remember"
"good point" April laughed; the waitress had brought the bill "anything else I can get for you ladies?"
"um" Arizona sat back in her chair "I think we're good, thank you" she smiled, the waitress nodded, walking away.
"so" April said "congrats"
"on?" Arizona asked, then looked down at the table "oh" she laughed
"thank you" Callie smiled putting her arm around Arizona
"you knew we were engaged" Arizona said looking at April
"I know, but when we left you in Denver, only Callie had a ring, now" she paused looking down at their hands "you both have one, wait" she paused again looking up at Arizona "you didn't get married now did you?"
Arizona let out a laugh, "no April we are not married"
"although Addie did bring up the idea of a double wedding" Callie said looking at Arizona
"we'll talk about that later" Arizona whispered
"double wedding?" April asked confused
"yeah" Arizona smiled, picking up her drink, "Teddy proposed too"
"that's, wow" April sat back in her chair, part of her a little disappointed, a part of her always hoped she'd have a chance with Teddy, but now that was obviously out of the question, and she would never tell Arizona that, that was a secret she'd keep for herself.
"I thought so at first, but then I saw how happy Addie makes her, I've never seen my sister this happy" Arizona smiled, it made her heart full thinking about how Teddy finally found herself.
"that's nice" April sat back in her chair, watching Callie reach for Arizona's hand "you two are so cute"
"thanks" Callie smiled, feeling her face turn red.
"well" April reached for the bill, Arizona just sat back and let her pay "you're probably itching to get to the hotel"
"a little" Arizona said, she in fact was excited to get Callie alone
"I'd like to go check out the pool"
"oh, you'll love it" April smiled "I'm staying there too"
"let's go" Callie looked at Arizona
"well then, the wife has spoken" Arizona smiled, some how she felt as if this should be the other way around.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"holy shit" Callie said looking around "this is nice"
"told ya" April smiled, kicking off her sandals, and placing her phone on the table with her towel. Arizona sat down in a chair, she didn't really feel like swimming or even sitting in the hot tub, but she came because Callie wanted to. As she sat there watching the other two in the pool her mind started wandering.
xxxxxxxxxxx
Looking out the window in their room, Arizona decided she needed a smoke. "I'm gonna head outside for a smoke, you want to join me?"
"of course," Callie said putting a marker in the book she had begun reading, and stood up, Arizona held open the door letting Callie go first. Following her down the stairs, being quiet not to wake anyone. Once outside Arizona sat on one of the chairs, lighting her smoke, handing the pack to Callie who nodded it away. Arizona sat back in her chair, looking up at the sky, being in the mountains not having any light pollution, you could see stars for miles. "this is gorgeous" she said letting out a puff of smoke.
"yeah it is" Callie agreed, Arizona looked over at her, as expected she was looking at her, shaking her head she took another drag. Callie smiled, then looked over at the pool "we should have put our suits on"
"why?"
"night swimming is the best; I think it'd be even better here" she looked up at the sky, seeing the stars.
"don't you think it's a little chilly" Arizona asked, her best guess she thought the temperature to be about 60
"not if you're in the water" Callie looked at her, in the dim light Arizona saw her wink, she leaned forward stubbing out her cigarette, "you want to go swimming?" Arizona said in a playful tone. Callie sat there, watching Arizona's next move. Arizona stood, walking to the chair Callie was sitting in, pulled it back far enough for Callie to stand, she reached out her hand to help her up, pulling her close, kissing her, she knew this could go two ways, either Callie would be super pissed and not want anything to do with her for a bit, or, she smiled at the or, hoping for that scenario. Arizona took a slow step back, Callie leaning closer into her, she moved her head slightly to look at how far back she'd have to go. 'just a few more feet' she thought, slowly taking another step, and another, feeling the edge of the pool with her foot. With Callie in her arms, she jumped in, making a splash, hoping no one in the house heard them. "oh my god, what the fuck" Callie said once she resurfaced. Arizona wiped her hair out of her face, laughing "you said you wanted to go swimming"
"I did" Callie smiled reaching out for her, moving them to the shallower end of the pool, where they could touch the bottom, Callie pulled her in, brushing some hair out of her face she whispered "I love you" Arizona smiled, Callie didn't give her a chance to answer back, her lips were on Arizona's. Before Arizona knew it, she was pressed up against the side of the pool, Callie's hand sliding underneath the basketball shorts she had on, feeling Callie's fingers at her most sensitive area, she moaned. "oh god Calliope" she whispered as Callie slowly slid 2 fingers inside. Taking Arizona's lips in hers, Arizona put her hands behind Callie's head pulling her closer into the kiss, as their tongues battled for control, Arizona started riding Callie's hand, the water splashing over the edge of the pool, the sound turning her on even more. Arizona was about to call out Callie's name when the lights came on, and the patio door opened, Callie quickly removed her fingers. "oh god please be Teddy" Arizona whispered, Callie looked at her with wide eyes, not sure what to do now when they heard Teddy's voice "Zo you out here?"
"oh, thank god" Arizona let out in a sigh of relief "yeah" she called
"what you doing in there?" Teddy looked down at the pool
"um" Arizona looked at Callie, who said without thinking "we fell in" she looked at Arizona with a shrug
"um, ok" Teddy laughed "do you have your smokes?"
"they're on the table" Arizona said breathlessly seeing her sister head towards the table and sit down, she nodded at the stairs to the pool, for them to get out.
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Arizona was brought back to reality when she heard April's voice. Shaking her head, she looked at her "huh?"
"you should really get in" April said repeating the words Arizona didn't hear
"nah, I'm good" she smiled looking at Callie, Callie gave her a quizzical look, Arizona could only assume Callie was wondering what was going through her head. "you guys have fun" Arizona winked at Callie, who smiled and jumped back into the pool, April following.
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
"alright, I'll see you in the morning" April smiled, as they stepped off the elevator, their rooms were on the same floor but different directions, Arizona nodded mumbling good night, Callie reached for her hand and headed the opposite direction. Callie let go of her hand once they got to the door of their room, sliding her key card, and going in. They had left the air conditioner on, and Callie shivered, in her wet suit. "fucking burr"
"yeah it's a little chilly" Arizona laughed sitting down on the bed, she didn't think it was that bad, but than again she wasn't wet, and fully clothed.
"I'm going to shower to warm up" Callie said heading into the bathroom not bothering to shut the door behind her or bringing dry clothes with her. Arizona heard the water turn on, and Callie's wet suit hit the floor. A few seconds later she saw her head poke out "are you joining me?"
"well" Arizona said, a smile graced her face, standing, as if her body had a mind of its own, she went into the bathroom, by that time Callie was already under the cascading water. Arizona just stood there staring through the shower glass. She smiled when Callie opened her eyes seeing her standing there. Callie smiled, wiping the water off her face "you coming?" she asked. Arizona couldn't say anything just nodded, as she started removing her clothes.
xxxxxxxxxxx
The screaming crowd did nothing for Arizona's mood, she didn't want to be there, sighing, she put the wireless mic in her ear, reached for her guitar. Callie gave her a kiss, making herself comfortable on the same speaker from yesterday. She wondered briefly why they weren't using it, but she didn't care, it made a good seat, and had a perfect view of Arizona, well the side of Arizona. She saw Arizona look her way and nod right before she walked out on the stage, then heard her voice through the speakers. Arizona ran through her set list, talking to the crowd between songs. "so" she smiled, a real smile not the fake one she'd been using before "I have some news I want you guys to be the first to know" Arizona looked in the direction where Callie was. As she continued "as you all know, I recently came out" she paused hearing the cheer of the crowd she smiled "thank you" she nodded "anyway, so over the weekend" she paused making sure she had everyone's attention "we got engaged" when she heard the gasps, and congratulations she said "what do you say we bring her out here, so you all can meet her?" Arizona smiled hearing the crowd agree, then looked at April who laughed, shaking her head she went and got Callie. "no, no, no" Callie protested
"come on" April smiled she knew this was going to happen
"oh, looks like she's having stage fright" Arizona laughed "come on baby, I promise it'll be ok"
"come on" April said reaching out her hand she pulled Callie out on the stage
"thanks April" Arizona said "my manager ladies and gentlemen" she smiled taking Callie's hand in her walking to the middle of the stage "and this beauty here is my Calliope" Callie gave a shy wave to the crowd, as Arizona leaned down kissing her cheek. "you want to join me in a song?" she asked
"no" Callie said shaking her head. "you've heard me sing" she laughed, feeling less nervous.
"I have" Arizona laughed "let's just say she sounds better than my sister" the crowd laughed. "well at least stay out here with me for this one" Callie nodded as April appeared with two stools, making Callie wonder what was going on. "ok bear with me here people, no one has heard this yet" she moved the stool, so it was close to Callie, sat on it looking at her, turned to her band and nodded. They hadn't heard the song yet either, but she had given them the sheet music just before the show. She reached for Callie's hand as the music started.
You're always there,
When it's a dark night,
You're the only light I need,
Your love has changed me,
Made me open my eyes,
You're all I'll ever need
Callie couldn't stop the tears from falling, as much as she tried, seeing Arizona sitting across from her singing those words from her heart, she wondered when she had written it or why she hadn't heard it, but she stopped caring, and got lost in her eyes as she finished the song. Arizona smiled "thanks for being a great crowd, until next time" she stood reached for Callie's hand to help her up, then led her off the stage, taking the mic out of her ear on the way, tossing it to April.
"please tell me I won't be going out there for the next 2 shows" Callie said still wiping the tears off her face
"no" Arizona smiled "I just wanted to show you off, I know enough people got it recorded it'll be viral by morning" she stopped, looking at Callie. "I love you" she whispered
"I love you" Callie smiled,
"come on, let's get this place cleaned up so we can get going" Arizona nodded towards the dressing room, which surprisingly wasn't that messy, normally there were water bottles everywhere not to mention Arizona's clothes.
"wow" April said standing in the doorway "Callie I don't know what you're doing to her, but keep it up" Callie gave April a quizzical look, the same look she gave Arizona often "she's a lot less messier with you around" April said in a laugh
"she's right" Arizona said picking up the one water bottle and tossing it into the bin, Callie shrugged, reaching for her bag, along with Arizona's "to the bus" she said making her way out the door.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Arizona found Callie who had made herself comfortable on the bed in the room in the back of the bus, the book she had started reading in Colorado in her hands. Putting her marker in the pages she set it down. "hi" Arizona whispered "we'll be pulling out shortly" she said shutting the door, sitting down on the bed, slipped off her shoes, and then her pants, reaching for her bag to grab her shorts out. Luckily, they had found time to do laundry while still in Colorado. After their little escapade in the pool, she needed clean sleep clothes. Callie nodded, as she watched Arizona dress then climb on the bed. Arizona leaned over kissing Callie who smiled "hi"
"hi" Arizona said softly "we should be in Chicago by noon"
"good" Callie smiled
"2 more shows" Arizona sat back sighing
"2 more shows" Callie repeated her, although they hadn't been gone all that long she was ready to be home. "wait, Chicago? Isn't that where the last show is?"
"yeah, I'm actually doing 2 shows there, one on Monday, then Wednesday"
"so" Callie said looking at her "we'll be home Thursday?"
"yes" Arizona turned her head, smiling. "I think mom and dad are coming to one of the shows, I'm not sure which one"
"hope it's the last one, then we can ride home with them"
"what? You don't like my bus?" Arizona pretended to be hurt
"um" Callie said looking around, she shook her head
"it's ok, I don't either" Arizona smiled "the one that got wrecked in the accident was amazing, it had everything, I" she paused shaking her head she didn't want to think about the accident, or anything before that. Her life was now, where she was a lesbian, and engaged to an amazing woman, who completed her in every way. "Calliope" she whispered, she already had Callie's full attention "I, I love you"
"I love you" Callie smiled, Arizona leaned in kissing her, laying her head on Callie's chest, not saying anything, there was nothing she could say. Callie reached up running her hand through Arizona's hair, both falling asleep.
xxxxxxx
Woken up what felt like a few minutes, but was actually hours later, by a knock at the door "what" Arizona called
"we just pulled into Chicago" April's voice came through the door
"what time is it" Callie whispered still half asleep
"um" Arizona rolled overreaching for her phone "fuck it's dead" she laughed "April" she called
"yeah?"
"what time is it?" Arizona asked
"I think it's 1. I'm not too sure" April laughed
"damn we slept that long?" Callie said rolling overreaching for her phone, checking it, it was indeed 1, already after. Callie let out a laugh, "we slept the whole drive"
"good" Arizona sighed plugging in her phone, once there was enough power it turned on making a continuous noise of notifications. She flopped back on the bed in a sigh "is this over yet?"
"no" Callie said moving so she could lay her head on Arizona's chest "2 more shows then it will be"
"thanks" Arizona let out a long sigh, reaching up running her hands through Callie's hair "we should probably get up" she said as another knock came on the door "Zo, we're pulling up to the hotel"
"okay" she said "now we really need to get up" Callie grumbled as she moved off Arizona climbing off the bed. Finding it odd they were both fully clothed, that didn't happen too often. Callie let out a little laugh "I'll get the bags" she said feeling the bus come to a stop then hearing the brakes let out air, letting them know they had stopped.
"come on, I'm in desperate need of a shower" Arizona said moving past Callie. April was already standing outside the bus, handing Arizona a key card "701" she said turning to leave.
"she checked us in that quick?" Callie asked giving Arizona a quizzical look. Arizona smiled nodding towards the door.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Callie was standing in the window when Arizona came out of the bathroom. "you like the view?"
"of course, who wouldn't love an amazing view of a huge lake" Callie smiled turning around. Her breath catching seeing Arizona in just a towel. Arizona didn't notice she just dug through her bag finding something to wear. "I'm starving do you want to go find something to eat?" Callie barely heard her, her eyes still glued to Arizona, who looked up not getting a response. She smiled "well?"
"well what?" Callie said shaking her head
"um, food? I'm starving"
"um" Callie cleared her throat "well" she looked down at herself "let me jump in the shower quick" she said finally coming out of her thoughts.
"I don't know why you didn't just hop in with me?" Arizona shook her head still rummaging through her bag pulling out a shirt and jeans.
"if I would have, we wouldn't have actually showered" Callie said walking by placing a kiss on Arizona's cheek, before heading to the bathroom.
xxxxxxxxxxxx
Callie had Arizona's hand in hers as they made their way out of the hotel and on to the packed city streets of Chicago. She saw Arizona lean over "do you want to grab a cab or walk?"
"I think there is a restaurant not far from here, let's just go there" she replied seeing Arizona nod and head down the street. Seeing a restaurant on the next block, they headed there. Walking up to the hostess stand the pretty brunette smiled "hello"
"hi, table for 2" Callie smiled back at her
"um" smile still on her face she looked down at the podium "alright right this way" she said looking up in Callie's eyes. Callie nodded reaching for Arizona's hand as they followed her. She placed the menus on the table as she rambled off the day's specials, and the waitress's name. Callie nodded with a smile, the hostess, her name tag said Michelle, winked and walked away. "this place looks nice" Callie said looking around, out of the corner of her eye she saw Arizona pick up the menu, then heard her mumble "yeah" making Callie wonder what had come over Arizona, she was just about to ask when Arizona said "sorry, I'm just starving all the sudden"
"me too" Callie smiled, picking up the menu as the waitress walked up ready to take their order.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Finally finished eating, Arizona looked up at Callie, smiling "sorry I was" she started to say but Callie reached across the table for her hand "don't be sorry, I know how you get when you're hungry"
"that and my head is starting to hurt" Arizona moved her hand from Callie's reaching up to her forehead
"did you bring your pills?" Callie asked knowing if Arizona didn't she had some in her bag, she cringed a little at the thought of still carrying it, but vowed when they finally got back home she'd stop "um" she head Arizona say touching her pockets "no" she slouched down
"it's ok" Callie said reaching for her bag, pulling out Arizona's bottle handing it to her
"you're going to make someone a great wife someday" Arizona smiled reaching for the bottle
"I hope someday soon" Callie winked watching Arizona pop a pill in her mouth, taking a swig of her water, Arizona winked "just be patient" she whispered, setting her glass back on the table.
"haven't I been"
"very, and I love you even more for it" Arizona leaned across the table kissing Callie "should we go" Callie nodded moving her chair back standing, Arizona reached for her hand as they made their way passed the hostess stand "thanks guys have a good day" Callie turned to her with a smile "thanks, you too" Arizona pulled her out of the restaurant.
xxxxxxxxxxxx
Sound check was redundant, Callie made herself comfortable on a speaker, she wondered if it was the same one that she sat on back in Atlanta, shrugging it off she watched Arizona, with a smile on her face, hoping her headache went away after she took the pills. April appeared bringing her out of her thoughts, striking up a conversation about something, she wasn't completely paying attention. Someone had caught her eye, thinking this person looked familiar, but she couldn't place where she had saw her before. She heard April say her name, realizing she must have asked her a question "I'm sorry what?" Callie looked at her. April giggled "I asked if you were enjoying the tour"
"oh" Callie let out in a laugh, turning her head to look at April "to be honest, no" she smiled "but I am enjoying watching Arizona, she really loves her job"
"I know she does" April turned to look out at the stage where Arizona was preforming the mic check "I just wish she'd"
"that accident took a lot out of her" Callie said
"I know" April sighed she was about to say something else, but Arizona had appeared in front of them saying "you ready?" Callie nodded, hopping down the speaker "I thought we'd have a quiet night at the hotel, order room service, and watch a movie"
"sounds good" Callie smiled; Arizona reached for her hand as they left the venue in the car that was waiting.
The song in this chapter isn't a song it was just something I made up. Thanks for reading...
