Arizona walked into work looking paler than usual. Most because she threw up all the contents of last nights dinner. When Callie was pregnant she was never sick like this. And yes, she knew that pregnancy is different for everyone, she's a neo-natal/fetal/pediatric surgeon. But this baby was really kicking her butt.
"Arizona, I brought donuts," Callie said walking into her office holding a brown paper bag.
"Thanks, but I'm not hungry," Arizona said looking at the paperwork in front of her.
"Are you ok," Callie asked, noticing the paleness in her face?
"I'm good, never been better. Why do you ask," Arizona said, looking up at Callie, putting on a fake smile.
"Well you look sick," Callie said sitting down in the chair in front of the desk.
"Thanks I didn't notice," Arizona said, sarcastically, signing some paper.
"I'm sorry, I just want to help," Callie said.
"Thanks," Arizona smiled.
"You know what I have an idea," Callie said like a light bulb went off in her head.
"What," Arizona asked, suspicious?
"And before you say anything hear me out," Callie said in defense.
"I can't make any promises but I'll try," Arizona said.
"Move in with me," Callie blurted.
"What, no come on," Arizona dismissed the thought.
"Hear me out, I can help you with morning sickness or what ever the baby's putting your body through. You get good home cooked meals. And you get to see Sofia everyday," Callie said smiling.
"No, you have Penny I would be intruding," Arizona said.
"Penny and I broke up," Callie blurted.
"What, why," the blonde asked?
"She got a grant and she's doing a fellowship in New York. And I don't do long distance," Callie said with a smirk.
"Ok,well I guess it would help," Arizona said.
"Well, there it's settled," Callie said getting up to leave.
"Wait," Arizona said all but to late as the brunette was already far gone.
"Callie, hey," Arizona said, sitting next to the women in the cafeteria.
"This food is horrible but it's all I have time for," Callie said, taking a bit of her "chicken" sandwich.
"We're supposed to have better food here," Arizona said.
"I know, but what's up," Callie said wiping her hands in a napkin.
"I don't want to move in with you," Arizona said.
"Ok," Callie said.
"I'll stay with you, only until the baby comes," Arizona specified.
"Cool we can swing by your house pick up something's then go to mine," Callie said, getting up to discard the food.
"Alright,"Arizona said, to no one, as Callie was already on her way to the door.
"Hey, Sofia mamas gonna stay with us now," Callie told the 8 year old.
"Really," Sofia said, with the largest smile, flashing her dimples. She might have no blood relation to Arizona but, with a smile like that there's no denying that's her kid.
"Yep, really," Callie said.
"Awesome," Sofia replied hugging her mom.
"Come on, let's go," Callie said to the girl after she pulled out of the hug.
"Can we get ice cream," Sofia asked grabbing her backpack.
"No but, if you're good we can have some tomorrow," Callie said taking her hand leading her out of the hospitals daycare.
"Yes,"Sofia said with a fist pump.
"Mama, Mommy said that you're staying with us now, is it true," Sofia asked barging into her moms office?
"Yes it is," Arizona said smiling.
"Awesome," Sofia said going behind the desk to give her mom a hug.
"Yea, awesome," Arizona said, beginning to cry.
"Are you ok mama," Sofia asked, realizing her mom was cry?
"Yeah but, these are happy tears," Arizona said.
"I cry when I'm happy too," Sofia said shedding a tear.
"Alright let's go home," Arizona said coming undone from the hug.
"Yeah, let's go home," Callie repeated taking one off the little girls hands.
"I've gotta get some groceries for the house," Arizona said looking at her phone.
"Why your not staying their," Callie asked putting her seatbelt on?
"Exactly,"Arizona said.
"Deluca can fend for himself," Callie said.
"No he can't if I didn't buy food and remind him to eat he wouldn't," Arizona told her.
"What about Carina," Callie said.
Carina. Arizona forgot to even mention any of this too Carina. She hadn't seen her in the past two weeks since she found out she was pregnant. The women had been away on work-related vacation. The women was due to be back soon. How would she tell her.
"Arizona what's wrong," Callie asked, she the expression on the women face.
"I haven't told Carina," Arizona said.
"Yeah and," Callie asked?
It's was likely due to the fact that Carina and Arizona was a new thing.
"Carinas my girlfriend," Arizona said.
"Arizona how could you not tell her," Callie asked?
"I forgot too," Arizona admitted.
"Call her and tell her," Callie said.
"No, I'll just tell her in-person,"
"Ok," Callie said pulling into Arizonas drive way.
"I'll be quick," Arizona said getting out of the car.
"Deluca, we literally have a coat right next to the door for a reason," Arizona yelled.
"Sorry," the man said rolling off the couch.
"Who was cooking," Arizona asked, she the dishes in the sink?
"Why did you say it like that who do you know it wasn't me," Deluca said standing up.
"You're Italian and you can cook but you wouldn't cook even if you got paid," Arizona said.
"Ok, it was my sister," Deluca fessed up.
"She's back," Arizona asked?
" yeah she's been asking about you she went to the bathroom she should be back in a minute," Deluca said
"Andrea, you better not have watched any without me," Carinas voice echoed in the hallway.
"I didn't," Deluca said, defensive.
"Arizona," the Italian women spoke.
"Hey, um I have something I need to tell you," Arizona said, seriously.
"Ok," Carina said.
"Let's go to my room," Arizona said.
"Yo, don't be too loud," Deluca joked.
"Shut it Deluca," Arizona said.
"If your not back in the next 10 minutes I'm watching the rest without you," Deluca yelled.
"So what was it that you wanted so desperately to tell me about," Carina asked, with her sexy Italian accent.
"Well I'm pregnant," Arizona said.
"How," Carina asked?
"Well when-," Arizona was cutoff.
"I know how it happens I'm an OBG/YN," Carina said confused.
"Well before me and you when Callie and I were still together we wanted to try for another kid but we even broke up but it was after we finished everything. And then you came and we started to date. And I forgot about it till I couldn't hold any food down and I noticed how much weight I gain so I took and pregnancy test and it came out positive," Arizona explained.
"I understand," carina said hugging the women.
"What," Arizona asked?
"That you want to break up with me," Carina said.
"What no I never said that," Arizona said
"Don't fool yourself, from what I've heard at the hospital thinks go have the greatest love story of all time," Carina explained.
"Really," Arizona said.
"Yeah, and I'm happy for you but now I have to go beat Andrea up, because I can hear the movie playing," Carina said getting up from the bed.
"Ok," Arizona said.
"ANDREA," Carina said. Spewing words of inaudible Italian.
It made Arizona chuckled as she began to get the stuff she need for Callie. Carina took that better than she thought. If the roles where reverse Arizona was sure that she would be pissed
"Hey what took so long," Callie asked as Arizona put her bag in the backseat.
"Carina came back early and I told her everything, and she took it surprisingly well, she also broke up with me," Arizona added.
"What why," Callie asked?
"Something about the hospital thinks we have the greatest love story of all time,"Arizona said, dismissive, putting her seat belt on.
"She probably did it cause she's not ready for kids cuz that's a lame excuse if I've ever seen one," Callie said pulling out of the driveway.
"Maybe," Arizona said.
Callie cooked Arizonas favorite, well Arizonas and Sofias favorite, even though she knew the women probably wouldn't be able to keep it down. But that didn't stop Arizona from eating it.
"Oh my gosh, Callie I forgot how good of a cook you are," Arizona basically moaned eating the last bit of chicken on her plate.
"Mommy makes the best chicken," Sofia added.
"That she does,"Arizona said.
"Alright sweetie bedtime," Callie said.
"Ok," Sofia said, not even bothering to ask for a few more minutes.
Once Sofia was out of earshot, Arizona had something's she needed to get off her chest.
"I wanna lay some ground rules," Arizona said.
"Ok," Callie laughed.
"I'm serious Callie," Arizona said
"Ok, sorry," Callie said
"I want to make this extremely clear I do not want to get back with under any circumstance. You hurt me, you hurt me so bad. And it makes me so angry that I still love you. I'm still broken and still recovering from that pain. And I know I hurt you Callie, I know
but a friendship is ok. If you want one," Arizona said crying.
"I would like to be your friend," Callie said shedding a tear.
"Well then it's settled, friends," Arizona said with a hand sticking out.
"Friends," Callie said shaking her hand.
Callie thought they were good. She thought Arizona was fine. But hearing Arizonas true feelings broke her heart. And it broke her heart to know that Arizona didn't even consider her a friend.
Arizona went to bed in the guest room. But she couldn't go to sleep, so she just stared at the ceiling thinking of all the things she would have to do tomorrow. She was only about 16 weeks pregnant. And she had morning sickness, or when every baby felt like it sickness. And right now it seems to be the later.
Arizona yacked in garbage can next to the bed knowing that wasn't the end of it she tried her best to get her crutches and get to the bathroom as quickly as she could.
"Arizona," Callie called as Arizona made her way into the bathroom.
"I'm o—," Arizona tried to speak.
"It's ok," Callie said making her way into the bathroom.
"You can go it's just a bit of nausea," Arizona said, sitting next to the toilet.
"I'm going stay," Callie said crouching down next to the blonde.
"Callie really-,"Arizona tried to say before she was cut of by a wave of nausea.
"It's ok,you're alright," Callie said holding her hair back.
"Thanks," Arizona said.
"That's what I'm here for,"Callie said.
"Than-,"Arizona was cut off.
"Let it all out," Callie said, rubbing her back in circles.
"Geez," Arizona said,chuckling a bit.
"You think that's the last of it," Callie asked.
"For now," Arizona joked, laying her head against the cold shower door.
"Alright, let's get you up," Callie stood up offering her hands.
"Oh I threw up in your trash can," Arizona said getting up.
"It's ok it's lined with a trash bag," Callie said.
"Ok," Arizona said, walking back to the guest room,
"I'm going to take this out and I'll be right back with some Vernors and saltines," Callie said taking the trash can.
Callie was back in the room in not time, with a sleeve of saltines and a can of Vernors in hand.
"Here this should help," Callie said handing them to Arizona.
"Thanks," Arizona said taking them.
"You're welcome," Callie said sitting on a seat next to the bed.
"I'm 16 weeks so I shouldn't be dealing with this much longer," Arizona said.
"I'll be here for how every long it lasts," Callie said.
"Thanks," Arizona said.
"It's what I'm here for," Callie said, with a smile.
"It's 3:00 in the morning and I have work, so I'm going to bed," Callie said getting up from the chair.
"Thanks Callie for everything,"Arizona said.
"Stop, you don't have to thank me," Callie said.
"Well, I mean it," Arizona said, before turning over in the bed.
"You're welcome," Callie said, before closing the door.
