Ok I revised it . Let me know how you like it.
Camera opens on a plain white door it zooms out to show the nervous women standing by the door getting ready to knock.
It's been a week since Charlie had that meltdown. Callie wanted to talk to her about therapy but she didn't know how. She was just always so open with Sofia. Sof know who to express her emotions. She didn't know how to get through to Charlie. A manual or a pamphlet would be good right now callie thought to herself as she opened the door. Charlie sat on the bed scrolling mindlessly on her phone. Callie approached the door with caution she paused for a moment before knocking.
No answer. So Callie just walked in Charlie was customary to others knocking on the door other than when coming in a house.
"Hey," Callie greet the girl after she walked in.
"You need something?" Charlie asked
Umm no just wanted to talk," Callie said before sitting down on the bed next to Charlie.
About what?" Charlie asked putting her phone down so that Callie has her full attention.
Therapy,"Callie answered as she nervously fidgeted with her wedding ring.
"Why?" Asked Charlie.
The whole family goes, we have family therapy once a month, individual therapy once a week. and I was just wondering if you'd want to join in on the therapy, I think it would beneficial," Callie rambled looking at a picture on the wall behind Charlie.
"Yeah sure. Therapy couldn't be that bad." Charlie shrugged.
"Oh ok I guess I'll leave you to your devices," Callie said leaving the room suprised with the result from their talk.
To be honest everyone had been walking on egg shells around Charlie. They didn't know how to deal with her. And they didn't try to make her feel unwanted but that's what was shown. She tried to push the though out of her head. She tried to come up with excuse. But she knew she was unwanted she thought to herself as she made her way out of her room to get a drink. Charlie noticed Sofia sitting on a stool by the kitchen island and decide to make small talk to get to know the kid better.
Hey sof," Charlie said while pouring a glass of juice.
Hi Charlie," sofia said looking up breaking her concentration on the book in front of her.
"what position do you play," Charlie asked leaning over Sofia shoulder to get a good look at the book.
"Goalie," Sofia said while simultaneously collecting her things
"What's her deal?" Charlie whispered to her self kinda hurt before she finished her juice.
They kinda avoided her at all
"Arizona you need any help in the kitchen," Charlie asked walking over to the sink to put her cup in it
"Um no sweetheart," said Arizona with her back turned facing the stove.
"Ok cool," Charlie said, saddened by the lack of warmth that she felt from the family.
"Fuck," Arizona basically yelled.
"You ok?" Callie asked, running to her worried.
"I will be. Can you go talk to Charlie though. I feel bad for the way we've treated her. I mean when I told Sofia to not bring up sensitive subjects, I didn't want her to treat Charlie like a parasite," Arizona said not looking up from the contents in the pot.
"And I over cooked the macaroni," Arizona added
"Alright so I talk to Charlie. And you talk to Sofia before dinner. And then I'll just boil some more pasta," Callie said grab Arizona by the waist.
"Alright," Arizona said turning around the give the women a kiss.
Callie gives Arizona a high-five then a kiss and walks to CHARLIES room
Charlie knew she never fit in. But she thought after his patient they were with her that she would fall in to place. Be the missing piece in the puzzle. But she was wrong it was like she was repeatedly getting forced into a tight space. Instead for florishing she was backtracking. She wiped her tears biting her emotions down again.(Charlie frustrated plops on the beds. The taps her foot and bits her lip to stop from crying but it doesn't work. She hears someone coming so she wiped the tears and grabs the book on the night stand pretending to read.)
"Hey can I come in?" Callie asked on the other side of the door.
"Yep," Charlie said making sure to pop the p.
"So," Callie asked not knowing how to speak to the girl.
"So what?" Charlie asked confused
"So the first night huh," callie said look down at her wedding ring not ready to face the girl yet.
"It was my first night," Charlie said not wanting to play 20 questions with Callie.
She had forgotten about her outburst. That's what she would do most of the time or atleast try to. She would bury them. Use them as fuel for her artistry. But it didn't work she was bursting at the seams with pain and emotion. Getting kicked out of her last home hurt the most.
Well you know you acted a certain way," Callie said still looking at her wedding ring.
"I did," Charlie replied, but she was more so asking than stating.
"You kinda had this outburst," Callie said trying to prying the emotions out of the girl.
"I don't know what your talking about," Charlie said denying.
"Um I don't know what you've been through at past homes but we talk about feels her you don't have to deny them," Callie said moving closer to the girl trying to soothe her.
"I'm not," Charlie said irritated.
"I came here to apologize," Callie sighed.
"Why?" Charlie said even more confused.
"Well honestly we've been horrible to you. We didn't know how to deal with situations like this. And still don't," Callie said before taking a breathe.
The pause in Callie speech made Charlie think to preparing for the worst. She knew eventually this family would kick her out like all the rest.
"But we can work through this. I'm sorry if my family has alienated you in the past week. Or if we have made you feel unwanted because trust me you're wanted," Callie finished.
Charlie looked about at her hands not wanting to look at CALLIE in fear of crying. She shakes her head.
"I don't want to push but can we hug it out. We kinda hug in this house it's our thing.," Callie asked with arms stretched out.
CHARLIE not feeling comfortable with it shakes her head. Still looking down.
"Alright," Callie said getting up from the spot on the bed with a huge grin.
Charlie didn't say anything. Just opening up the book. Letting tears season the tattered pages of the overdue library book.
It was weird tho in all her other Foster homes she was never able to express her self like this. She kinda enjoyed tho she didn't know how to express it. She wanted to say so more but, she couldn't. She knew the system she knew the patterns. The foster parents tell you make yourself at home. Tell you they love you and want you to express yourself. And when she finally would they would run away. They would send her back. She was to much to deal with too much trauma, too much sickness, too much pain. So she blocked the voice out in the back of her head. The voice that said "give them a chance" that's lead with her heart not her head.
Camera opens up on a degree on a wall belonging to a SANDRA IKEDA-FREY. It pans down to two flags on belonging to JAPAN the other belonging to SWITZERLAND. It goes down even lower bring into view a women.
"Hello my name is Dr. Marsalis," the women introduced herself.
The women was in her later 30's early 40's. She had streaks of grey hair poking through her tight bun. She had thick round rim glasses, that reminded Charlie of a librarian. She wore a brown, earth tone turtle neck, with multi pattern green maxi skirt. It looked like a cubism painting of a forest. Or that's what she saw. She hadn't really got a good look at the women. She was to busy pick at the bright blue couch like a nervous wreck.
"I heard your name is Charlie," the women spiking trying the get Charlie to answer
Charlie didn't answer. She only moved from picking at her hands to picking a hole in Dr. Marsalis couch, which she felt bad for you.
"I can't help you feel better if you don't speak," The women said reaching out to touch her knee.
Truth was she wanted to talk but she didn't know how. She wanted to get help but when she tried to talk she just couldn't she was too anxious.
"What do you like to do for fun," Dr. Marsalis asked?
She'd been in the profession long enough to know the signs of a panic attack. So she decide to ask her something unfeeling related, something more light.
"I um like to paint," Charlie whispered barely audible.
"What do you normally paint," Dr. Marsalis asked, intrigued.
"Um I don't really know I just paint," Charlie said looking up from the holes she created on the couch averting her attention to the degrees and flags on the wall behind the women.
"How about next time you bring a portfolio of some of your art," The women said with a smile.
"Sure," Charlie said not letting her eyes leave the wall behind Dr. Marsalis.
"That's my old name. I'm married now," Dr. Marsalis said after realizing what the girl was looking at.
"Nice," Charlie said putting on a fake smile.
"Well I enjoyed todays session but, I'm afraid our time is up. Remember to bring the portfolio with your art," The doctor said standing up.
"OK ," Charlie said confused. She spent half of the time sitting in silence so she knew why the session was short but she didn't understand what she felt.
"I'll show you the way out. My office is a maize it's easy to get lost," Dr. Marsalis said getting up from her chair.
Charlie got up pulling on the sleeves of her oversized green sweater. Anxiously waiting for the women to lead her out of the office so this ordeal would be over with.
Callie sat in the waiting room engrossed in her phone her face adorned with black reading glasses
"Hey we had a good session today. Just hope the next one will be great," Dr Marsalis said grabbing Callie's attention
"Well that's great," Callie said after she noticed the women.
"You can schedule your next appointment at the receptionist desk or over the phone," Dr Marsalis said before giving one last smile and walking back to her office
Camera opens up inside a suv. The young girl laying her head against the window watching the scenery that they pass by.
"So how was the session,"Callie asked, looking through the rear view mirror, trying to make small talk.
Charlie just shrugged her shoulders still not knowing how to feel about it.
"Ok cool," Callie said awkwardly, tapping the steering wheel before pulling into the driveway of the home.
Charlie hopped out the car not waiting for Callie. Only looking back at the suv when she made it to the door. Realizing she had no way in.
"Don't worry I have the key," Callie said in a joking manner. But the girl was not amused.
"Ok tough crowd. Don't worry I'll be here all night," Callie joked jiggling her keys to find the right one.
As soon as Callie unlocked the door Charlie zipped right past her speeding to the room she know occupied.
"I don't speak teenager," Callie exclaimed to no one.
Charlie dial the number on the paper. She paces around as she her the ringing on the other end.
"Yo what's up," Nia yawned answer the phone.
"I'm sorry to bother you I didn't know you where sleeping,"Said Charlie.
"Chill it was just a smalll nap. You know I always got time for you Char," Nia said.
"Good because I need to talk about my new foster placement," Charlie said in a rush.
"Are they abusive or something," Nia said worried.
"No, actually it's the opposite," Charlie said.
"What?" Nia asked, confused.
"They care like way to much," Charlie said very seriously.
"Like how," Nia asked chuckling.
"Ok so on my first night, I kinda had a small pts panic attack. And you know normally you help me with those. Or I just get through them on my own. But Callie one of the moms came to tell me dinner was ready. Which is weird, in and of it's self. And she like found me like in a panic state under the bed. And she like coached me out. And then there was this guy how oddly looked like Matt," Charlie explained
"Matt will never come back he's in jail," Nia said trying to calm Charlie down.
"I know but he just reminds me so much of him. So I had a break down mid dinner and I told my foster moms to beat me," Charlie said on the verge of tears.
"Are you serious Charlotte," Nia asked in disbelief.
"Sadly yes. I thought in some sick way it would bring me comfort. But then they took me to therapy," Charlie explained wiping tears from her eyes.
"Newsflash that how people do stuff when they care. Or think your crazy. Or it could be both," Nia said kind of pissed.
"Stop joking Mi," Charlie said confused by her reaction.
"Char I'm not joking. It sounds like they care. I think you have a good one," Nia said pissed.
"Yea well let's see how long it lasts," Charlie said with a sigh.
"I know you don't see it but I don't think you're coming back," Nia told her.
"Yeah I guess," Charlie said not believing the statement.
"You know what I have to go cuz it's dinner but talk to you later," Nia said hanging up the phone frustrated at the girl.
"Yeah I guess," Charlie said after the phone hung up.
The phone drops on the other end. The camera shows CHARLIE sitting on her bed. CHARLIE poops down on her back. The camera pans out to the Seattle night sky. Camera goes black, tittle card THE RUNAWAYS appears credits roll.
