When they were children, her cousin Isabella Swan – a year and half younger than her – is the very first person who makes her realize that life isn't full of rainbows and flowers.
Simply put, even at such young and tender age, said cousin has been the one bringing troubles and messing around her and Hermione hates the fact that she couldn't do anything about it. Because in everyone's eyes said cousin is the epitome of a cute little white rabbit– mainly because of her seemingly inborn timidness and klutziness.
Only Hermione was completely aware of the fact that her vile true face and colors is completely hidden behind her mask. She's nothing like the timid and klutzy little white rabbit that everyone knew but a two-faced scheming white lotus bitch. And she's only a child for crying out loud!
To be specific it all started with just those harmless, childish pranks directed at her like hiding her books or putting bugs and worms under her bed in an attempt to scare her.
When Hermione ignored those things Bella started resorting to verbal bullying instead. Calling her a know-it-all, bushy-haired beaver, a freak, weirdo and so on whenever the elders aren't present.
It quite hurt her feelings and self-confidence to be honest especially those derogatory terms were coming from the mouth of her supposedly only family relative closest her age.
But Hermione is quite aware of her being an oddity among her peers so she still choose to ignore it and remained silent. Burying her sorrows to the sole comfort of her beloved books. Though it seems that her nonchalant response seems to anger her little brat of a cousin even more.
It was a fresh and crisp late autumn day when Hermione realize that Bella started getting out of line.
Aside from her usual snarky remarks pertaining her appearance and freakiness as she so loved to call it, Bella also started getting physically aggressive towards her, like those constant tugging of her hair and sometimes pinching her skin till it leaves an inconspicuous bruises. Somehow she couldn't help comparing her to Harry's horrible muggle Aunt, Petunia Dursley neé Evans.
That certain one unforgettable time though made Hermione totally lose her temper. Because of her so called klutziness Bella accidentally tripped her on a several meters high staircase resulting to her having a couple of severe bruises and a broken arm. And what did Bella do? She even had the gall to complain towards the elders that she, Hermione, is the one who attempted to hurt her (Bella) but ended up hurting herself instead.
The elders were displeased, of course, hearing such a usually silent and well behaved child acting unruly behind their backs is definitely not a lovely thing.
Mr. and Mrs. Granger, on the other hand, were rather mad and even more so disappointed at her. They then decided to ground her for a month and worse, gave all of her books to Bella just because she pitifully told them that it's the sole reason why Hermione became irked to her. After knowing this, Hermione, deeply upset and feeling wronged, tried to explain her side and when she was heavily reprimanded by them instead she completely lose her temper and for the first time in her childhood life, throw a fit.
"Mum, Dad! Why can't you listen to me just this once?! I didn't do anything to Bella! She's the one who tripped me resulting of me ending up with this situation! Just because you adore her very much doesn't mean that you need to blame me for all of this!" Hermione's childish voice cracked as fat hot tears started rolling down her cheeks.
Mr. Granger just shakes his head, letting out a disappointed sigh but cleverly choose to be silent. Mrs. Granger though seems to be shaking with suppressed anger, pointing a finger at her direction.
"You... Dare lie and talk back to me now?" She quietly hissed, gritting her teeth. "Go upstairs and pack up your things because we're boarding back to London right this instant!"
Between the gap of the half opened door, Hermione spotted Bella giving her a gloating smirk not even suitable to a kid her age. She wish she could rip that smug expression out of her face.
That night is the first ever night Hermione Granger cried herself to sleep.
Years later, the two of them had boarded a different paths– namely Hermione getting accepted to Hogwarts and living a semi- arse worth hellish life whilst Bella got to live the peak of her life in Arizona with her mother and soon went to live a seemingly peaceful life in a small town in America with her father, and found an inhumanely handsome and almost perfect boyfriend for herself.
Hermione felt bitter just thinking of the unfairness of it.
Whilst Bella's future seems to have perfectly been secured on a stone, Hermione, on the other hand, got to continue living her life carrying the excess baggages of those psychological traumas she was forced to endure after the war.
Somehow, Hermione felt envious at her baby cousin and sometimes couldn't help but blame her for her misfortunes. As crazy as it sounds.
Over in all, Hermione Granger really loathes Bella Swan since the very beginning with unrestrained passion.
Now seems like the phrase 'enemies are bound to meet' is real as she boarded down the plane, took off her glasses, and roamed her gazed around the Seattle Airport only stopping on a certain young female figure who looks quite familiar but not at the same time.
When their eyes clashed, Hermione somehow managed to morphed those doe eyes to those pair of a particularly mocking one on her memories.
Her heart grew cold in an instant.
