Merman AU/Dark fairytale: It's a creature that only exists in tales. In legends. Old, half-forgotten stories meant to be told to children at bedtime. It's not meant to be lying on the sand before her feet, vulnerable, exposed, wheezing for breath under the relentless midday sun. Rey can't see its face, but she knows it will not belong to that of a normal human's. Or so she's heard.
