Chapter 3

Shocked by all accounts, Steve looked at Tony with a clear expression of shock, the two shared a silent understanding and agreement to save this crap for later. "Put the suit on," Steve said with a grunt as he lifted himself up.

"Yep," Tony said with a slightly painful grunt

He looked around for his niece in panic, she had just been there. "Bee?" He called with worry Looking around for her.

Tony turned to run down the hall, but he stopped short when found an unconscious strawberry blonde face down on the floor. "Rogers!" Tony shouted, dropping by the kid, "Kid! Come on, Munchkin, you okay?" Tony asked and looked to Steve when the man dropped by him.

"Stark, go get the suit, I got her," he told the irritating man, he was a little surprised when Stark nodded and made a stumbling run for his suit. Praying she was okay. Steve almost felt a few tears roll down his face, "Bee? …Bianca, come on kid, I need you to wake up." Steve told her, rolling her onto her side. She had fallen face first and her long strawberry blonde hair had come out of the messy bun she'd rolled it up in earlier after afternoon.

Groaning awake, Bianca coughed a few times, the smoke filled her nose and her esophagus. It was choking. With her uncle rubbing her back to get her to breath he nodded at whatever he said to, honestly her ears had heard him, but her mind hadn't caught it as she coughed trying to catch her breath, "Go, I'm fine," she choked a little.

Almost grinning at her, Steve kissed the top of her head and ran after Stark at hearing Fury about the engines and sending Stark in on the task. He just hoped she was okay. When he'd asked if she had needed her inhaler she'd nodded, but then told him to go, that she was fine. He really hoped she hadn't just told him that to get him to go help Stark. But, if she had, then she was definitely retaliated to him.

Trying not to gasp for breath through the smoke while her uncle ran to help Mr. Stark, Bianca stumbled her way into Banner's lab and through the other set of doors to a different hallway. She didn't know where she was going, she tried remembering Natasha's consoling she had given her when Bianca had her first asthma attack when she'd been running after Natasha on the training tracks. She gasped as a hand grabbed her from a side hall she'd been passing, the man radioed from his face-covering helmet to someone about finding a child there.

"Roger that," the guy said, "Come on kid,"

Confused as to what the heck was going on now, and why this person was taking her down the hall with him was beyond her, until they came into the Bay of Loki's cell. Struggling further in the guys' hold, she was taken off guard when he lifted her up off her feet and threw her up the steps as he made his way to the panel as he removed his helmet. The grate hurt when she hit it, and her knee burned as if she had scrapped it against the metal she had skidded over. None of this was comfortable. Being careful with her throbbing and burning knee she rolled over onto her butt to check it out. 'Yep, skinned it,' and it definitely hurt, that was for sure.

"Hello again, Bianca," she heard Loki say to her. Looking at him, Bianca felt her breathing shutter with fear at him.

Completely aggravated at him, Bianca looked between him and the panel while Loki smirked the entire time. Looking towards the bay doors she knew her main escape was blocked. Meaning she had to find a different escape route. Looking around the room, she saw a ladder that seemed to blend just a little too good into the wall, following it up, about halfway she found a vent panel. Looking back towards the man guarding the door and the man at the panel trying to make his way around the secured settings of the door and the drop doors, Bianca ran for the man at the panel, kicking him in the back of the leg, forcing him to drop. Grabbing his knife on his leg belt she shoved it into the side of his leg and twisted before grabbing his fallen gun and swung it around as hard as she could and clocked him on the side of his head, rendering him unconscious.

Laughing at how surprised he was that she clearly had some form of training, Loki looked to the man at the door and nodded towards her and the panel as she started climbing the ladder, "Stop her!" he shouted, "And me out of here!"

Her panic grew the closer she got a few rows up, she felt a moment of hope close in around her, until her ankle was grabbed and her yanked down from the ladder, pulling a scream from her throat. Hitting the grated floors beneath her, Bianca groaned and looked to man who had grabbed her. With her senses in survival mode, almost in overdrive, Bianca kicked out her uncaptured foot at the guy's legs and managed to strike him in the inner part of his knee, causing him to shout from the stun of her even attacking him. Then again, why wouldn't she? When he glared at her with a painful and angry growl after he fell to one knee, her eyes grew wide as he pulled back his gloved fist to punch down at her. Her breathing grew painful. Still wanting him to let go and not to get punch in her teeth, Bianca heard Natasha's voice in her head and instantly kicked the man in his crotch with as much force as she could, rose up on her upper back and shoulders and used her captured ankle against him and kicked the man his face.

Once he was on both knees with his breath caught in his throat and dazed from the pain her little but mighty kick had dealt him, the man had dropped her captured ankle to cup himself with one hand and the other to hold his bleed, possibly broken nose.

With her ankle now released, she leapt back to the ladder and crawled into the vent, making her way down the metal vent paths as fast she could.

Sighing with annoyance Loki rolled his eyes, "Never mind her, she's already gone," but he still had to give her credit, he had not expected her to do that.

Crawling through the vents like a mad hamster having a panic attack, Bianca looked down each vent path trying to decide which path she should take. It was there in the vents she noticed a loud whistling noise coming from somewhere and figured to not go that way, but fate had other planes.

She screamed at the sudden explosion the craft once again went through and was jolted down a vent path she had not planned on going down, the screaming wind growing louder. "Oh no, no, no, no!" She screamed as she skidded down the metal vent, her hands couldn't grab anything, and the metal was giving her a burn on her palms and exposed legs, one path she had been sent down Bianca felt the metal edge of the vent make contact with the right side of her head at her hair line. She eventually gave in and just let her butt slide her wherever and hoped she wasn't sucked out of the aircraft currently spiraling out of the Sky. When the 'slide' had ended, Bianca had landed on her belly.

Taking a moments breath, she sighed with temporary relief and finally resting her brow against the metal whatever side she was laying on, whether it was upside down or right side up didn't matter to her at the moment, but sadly, it had just started for her. Trying to catch her breath, Bianca lay there on her stomach thanking whoever was up there looking down. However, when the aircraft's engines were all suddenly silent her stomach had gone up to her chest as she looked at absolutely nothing with a look of horror. "Oh no, no, no, no- ah! Uncle Steve!" She screamed, thinking, and expecting another session of ventilation sliding. Until her back slammed against a wall, the vent must have been loosened because she and the vent came right out of the wall after it broke, landing in a hallway. Holding her head, dazed from the impact, and honestly shaken, Bianca looked up towards the howling and screaming winds. 'I must be near the part that was destroyed,' she thought as she forced her shaking arms and legs to crawl out. She still had no idea what the heck was going on, other than the fact that they were clearly under some form of attack, meaning Loki's friends must have come and helped him, equaling this being a total disaster. The sudden noise of bullets and shooting caught her attention, it was there she noticed shooting and her uncle shouting at someone, likely Mr. Stark.

"Kind of busy at the moment!"

"Uncle Steve?" scared and shaking Bianca made her way to the wall nearest her, helping herself stand. She'd heard him, she knew she had. That had been no hallucination, but she had no idea where he was. Confused, she made her way around the short corner of the hall she had crashed through but had shouted with fright at a bullet hitting the wall beside her as she came around the corner.

"Rogers! Pull the lever!" She heard what she swore was Mr. Stark. But that had to be impossible, she didn't have one of those earpieces they all had. Unless someone dropped theirs? Curious, she looked around, looking for what she thought was several painful minutes, until she found someone's earwig. Putting it near her ear Bianca could hear Mr. Stark panicking about some lever. Carefully making her way to the other part of the hall across from her, she took a look at what she could.

While Bianca had been at S.H.I.E.L.D. Natasha had taught her a few things that she probably shouldn't have taught her. Observance was one of the many things she had taught Bianca, observance of the smallest thing. She was decent in a lot of the things Natasha had taught her, but she had a lot of room to grow. Listening to Mr. Stark, he sounded like he was going through a painful ream-cycle. Seeing a red lever on the side of the wall he must have been talking about, she dropped her head with dislike at the thought which stupidly popped into her head. The lever was on a part of the wall that happened to be missing the majority of it. Bianca closed her eyes and took a breath, she was ten, not an Agent. But her uncle was getting shot at and Mr. Stark was in trouble. Neither one could help the other and the rest of those able to fight in this were currently engaged elsewhere. Right now, she hated to admit it, she was the only one not an enemy that wasn't currently engaged into anything. "I am so in trouble," she told herself, took a breath and ran for the guys back, aiming for his parted legs to attempted to slid under him. She was aiming for the red lever, and hopefully she didn't get hurt, because she knew she would be in a heap of trouble.

Hearing a little girl over his commlink, Tony's eyes danced back and forth over his screen, his heart rate skipping and jumping in his chest like a rabbit running from a hound, "What?" Realizing who the only kid was on the aircraft, Tony swore he was going to go into cardiac arrest, "Wait, is that- Rogers!"

Hearing what Stark had heard, Steve looked at the only path he had eyes on and felt his heart drop when he saw her strawberry blonde hair whipping in the wind as she ran for the guys back, "Bia, no!" Steve shouted with panic, aiming his riffle for one good shot as she dropped and slid between the guy's legs, he fired just as the guy looked down and dropped the guy. He was forced to watch from afar as she ran to the lever and pulled it, allowing Stark to get out of the gears just in time. Frantic over her wellbeing, Steve dropped his riffle and ran for her, "Bianca Margaret Lou Rogers-Dugan!" Steve called for her from across the vacuum of air that separated them. Letting his panic and heavy breathing leave him with every terrified breath he breathed out, Steve made his way to her as she waited for him, her head hanging low and holding one of her elbows. As he took in her appearance, Steve felt himself getting angry then a rush of fear over what could have been worse. She had dusted debris and red burn marks and a skinned knee, but his eyes instantly went to her head where he found a bleeding cut at her hairline near her temple, likely where she smacked her head on something. It made him wonder what had happened because that hadn't been there before. Pulling her into his arms Steve held her close, his fears leaving him instantly, though he had to fight back all his tears when she wrapped her arms around him and hugged him back. "You did good Bee, but don't ever do like that again. Okay?" he told her, burring his face into her strawberry blonde mess of a hair. Lifting her up, Steve didn't care if she was ten, or the thought that half of the ten-year-old population might not like being carried, but she was not leaving his arms for a little while until they could both stop shaking.

"Okay,"

"Promise?" Steve questioned her, looked at her, he held up his pinky with a smile, and laughed when she smiled, and pinky promised him. "Now you have to keep that, right?"

"Right," Laughing with him she nodded. Hoping she wouldn't have to ever do that again. She was still kind of freaking out from how dumb she had been to even do it in the first place.

Tony landed in the hall after getting back to the aircraft and smiled at the kid, ruffling her hair Tony raised his damaged face mask and chuckled at the grinning kid, "She is definitely yours Rogers." Tony said, "Thanks little Rogers."

When she smiled at him Tony had to try hard not to smirk at Rogers displaying his overprotectiveness. And honestly, Tony felt a sudden wash of sympathy for any man in the girl's future.

"Agent Coulson is down,"

"They called it. He's gone."

Each broadcast from Fury had come over their com-links just seconds apart from one another. Bianca had only known about Coulson after her uncle had removed her earwig because of Mr. Stark and Steve's expression. Mr. Stark looked gutted, her uncle looked torn and filled with regret. When they had their 'meeting', with the few people that had attended. That being Mr. Stark and her uncle, Bianca had stood by her uncle sadly as he looked at one of the many blood covered baseball cards from Agent Coulson. Her heart ached at the loss, for those who knew Phil longer than she had, the friends he'd had. His family. Watching Mr. Stark storm off and her uncle shortly behind the man Bianca was filled with a surging amount of uncertainty of what to do, so, she stood there watching Agent Hill trying to not be on edge and Fury trying to keep himself together.

Having enough of the silence, Bianca approached Nick Fury and wrapped her arms around the man's waist. All she received in return was a warm hand to the top of her head, resting in place. She figured a hug might help him. Heck, it might help all of them feeling the pain of Coulson's death. But that was a big maybe. She stayed on the main Deck of the meeting room for a few hours, sketching on the paper that Agent Hill had been able find for her. She'd been so caught in her sketching's that she had hardly noticed her uncle rest a hand to her head and pressing a gentle kiss to the top of her strawberry blonde hair near the patch they had applied to her cut on the side of her head.

"Love you, kiddo," Steve whispered.

"Love you too, Uncle Steve." She said back, shading in where she thought should be shaded on her sketch.

Steve smiled at the picture she was sketching, it was Bucky's smiling face, with dirt smeared over him, but the sudden sag of her shoulders and the annoyed sigh she had as she flicked the paper away and dropped the very used pencil and dropped her head into her folded hands on the glass table. Worried, Steve looked over the multiple sketches she had tried her hand at, and he had to smile. Him, Tony, Natasha, Thor, even Loki, and Nick. But it was the three attempts at Agent Phil Coulson and her two attempts at Bucky that had him prideful in her growing skill. Kneeling beside her chair, Steve eased her chair around to face him. "Alright Bumblebee, what's wrong?"

"I can't get his eyes right," she said with small annoyance. Not wanting to look at him, Bianca sniffed back her coming tears. She didn't want him to go, not after what had happened. She was completely freaked out and scared he'd never come back with the knowledge that he was more than likely going to go after the people responsible for this day. But she had to be sure her thought was right, and she hoped she was wrong. "Are you going after the ones that caused this?"

Calmly taking in a breath, Steve nodded. Taking her little hands into his much bigger hands, Steve smiled and leaned forward, pressing his forehead against hers. "Hey, come on Monkey-" He stopped when she looked up at him, her turquoise eyes brimming with tears, her little sniffles to hold back as much of her tears as she looked at him.

"Promise you'll come back," Bianca whispered, pleading that he'd promise, make him keep that promise.

Kissing her forehead Steve pulled her into his arms and held her as tightly as he could without possibly hurting her. "I'll definitely try, that's all I can promise Bia… I'm sorry,"

Hugging him as much as she could, Bianca looked to the door as Mr. Stark walked in, her watery eyes met his, she waved her little hand at him and got a nodded grin.

Tony cleared his throat toward Rogers, Fury was down on the front Helm of the aircraft, giving them a good amount of time to get out of there. But they needed to leave, now.

Kissing the side of her head again, Steve stood and followed Tony out, they had a job to do.

"How's the kid taking it, Cap?" Natasha asked as they took off from the air carrier.

Steve signed, feeling just a little more than just upset about the kid crying, "Not very well," he answered her with a dragged-out sigh. "Hated leaving her like that,"

"Like what?" Clint asked him curiously.

"She tried making him promise to come back," Tony answered for him over the linked intercom.

"Thanks, Stark," Steve said with annoyance.

Confused, Natasha looked behind her to Clint then over to Rogers with a frowned brow, "What was so wrong with just promising her-"

"Because I can't promise that when anything can happen in a War Zone. And we are going into an unknown kind of War with so many variables that could quite literally end my life in a blink of an eye. I can't do that to her. Bee has already lost to many people she loves, and she's only ten." Steve tried hard not to snap at her as they made their way to New York. They had to beat Loki to Stark Tower. Or at least try.
