Pack Cottage, Wales, 11/10/1997, 17:38

The pack was all seated at the dining room table tucking into a well-deserved dinner.

They had been working tirelessly to get the entire pack to complete a non-lunar transformation for the last week and we're getting very close.

Just this afternoon Dennis had completed his first transformation which just left Justin as the odd man out so to speak.

Lizzy was still a bit young to learn how to do this just yet, and to be honest her puppy form Wouldnt be much use to her anyway. She did come into the training room to watch them practice from time to time, though she got bored of it pretty quickly and ran off to ay with Astoria.

Justin was having the same problem Lavender had a few months ago he was stuck with a wolf body and was struggling to get his head to transform.

Harry thought he might have to let him use the full moon transformation to get him over the last hurdle but they still had four days until then to try.

Normally during the drain, he would cancel the lessons but he wanted the pack to complete this step before the new year.

"You're a monster Potter," Dennis groaned out looking thoroughly wrung out from the three-hour practice.

"That's just mean Dennis," Harry said in feigning sadness.

"Once you complete the transformation like this the drain isn't as bad," Lavender said soothingly from Harry's right.

"You also don't have to worry about the pain of transforming under the moon, when you transform voluntarily it doesn't hurt at all," Harry added on.

"Good, that's always the worst part," Rose said looking relieved.

"When can I learn how to do it?" Lizzy asked curiously.

"After your seventh birthday, I never asked when is your birthday?" Harry asked rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment at not already knowing.

"It's January ninth, she'll turn seven," Lavender said looking at him in annoyance.

"Can I have a party for my birthday?" Lizzy asked not looking bothered by Harry's oversight.

"Of course," Harry said with a grin

"Yah!" Lizzy exclaimed happily while Harry flashed Lavender a smug grin.

"Prat," Lavender muttered getting chuckles from the rest of the pack.

"Do you think we can go to one of the smaller villages around here?" Colin asked hopefully.

"Why?" Harry questioned already knowing it would be a bad idea.

"Just to get out of here for a bit, also I'm out of film. Luna and Daphne borrowed my camera a few weeks ago, and used up my last roll," Colin explained scowling at the two who looked anywhere but at Harry.

"I don't know, this area is bound to be watched after Weasley was captured, the death eaters know we claim Wales as our territory," Lavender said from the seat beside him.

Harry had noticed Lavender had started asserting herself a lot more since the ministry and to be honest it kind of turned him on a bit.

"What she said," Harry shrugged earning him an amused chuckle from Justin.

"Alright," Colin said disappointedly.

"We'll figure something out to get you some more film, but we can't have another group outting right now," Harry explained to Colin while bringing his left hand beside his left ear and shooting Justin the bird hiding it behind the side of his head so Lizzy couldn't see it.

"Smooth Potter," Daphne giggled as both Lavender and Lizzy remained oblivious.

"Thanks, mate, I would appreciate that," Colin treplied looking relieved.

"Don't mention it, we all need to be on alert, the death eaters have something in the works for the coming full moon, it probably isn't about us but be alert all the same," Harry told them all.

"Alright, should we stay closer to the house?" Astoria asked.

"As long as you don't come n the house," Daphne said pointedly having seen the damage Rose and Astoria had caused last month.

"All kidding aside, we probably should stay closer to the house this month, which means we won't be going hunting," Lavender said somewhat sadly.

"Agreed,I can have Benjy set us some meat out to take off the edge," Harry said as he patted Lavender's leg consilingly under the table, he knew how much Snow loved to hunt.

"What about the rabbits?" Lizzy piped up.

"They will have to wait until next month," Harry said gently.

"We won't be going into the forest," Lavender said softly as she rubbed the girls back.

"You can chase Rose," Harry suggested noticing how sad Lizzy looked at hearing this.

"She runs too fast," Lizzy whined cutely.

"So do the rabbits," Lavender pointed out.

"But I want to hunt," Lizzy pouted.

"So do I," Harry admitted sadly.

"You'll both get over it, Lizzy Let's go get you in the bath," Lavender said as she set her utensils down and looked at the little girl expectantly.

"I don't want a bath," Lizzy pouted as Lavender got up from her chair and scooped her up.

Harry chuckled, he heard Lizzy whining as Lavender carried her out of the dining room, she really hated getting a bath.

"Be careful Potter, she's going to turn into a little brat," Daphne warned looking highly amused.

"Yeah I know, but it's hard to tell her no when she looks at you with those puppy eyes," shrugged.

"Yeah Daffy, you should see her in wolf form," Astoria agreed.

"At least Lavender isn't falling for it," Justin chuckled.

"No, she is good about keeping her in line," Harry agreed before deciding now was as good a time as any to bring up a subject he had been pondering for a while now.

"So there is something we need to talk about," Harry said looking around the table.

"What is it?" Luna asked curiously.

"I am thinking about moving the pack out of Britain," Harry said getting everyone's attention.

"Seriously?" Justin asked in surprise.

"Yeah, this country is awful to our kind. Even if the order wins their war, conditions for werewolves won't change," Harry explained seriously.

"Where would we go?" Astoria asked looking conflicted.

"Short term, France. The Blacks have a home near the Alps that I could persuade Sirius to let us use for a few months," Harry answered.

"We have quite a few contacts in France," Daphne said thoughtfully.

"What about our families?" Rose asked.

"I don't know yet, but I am sure something can be arranged so you can stay in touch with them," Harry said after thinking of the mirrors he had made for Fleur and her parents.

"Oh," Rose said softly.

"Look, I'm not going to force this on you, just think it over," Harry said looking around the table.

"Would I be able to come with you?" Luna asked.

"Yes, you're like family to me," Harry told her truthfully.

Luna nodded looking deeply touched by his words.

"I'm okay with leaving," Justin said after the room had gone silent for a few minutes.

"Same here," Dennis added Colin nodding in agreement.

"I need some time to think about it," Astoria said tentatively.

"That's not a problem, this is a big decision," Harry told her gently.

"I want to go," Rose said after a moment's thought.

"When were you planning on leaving?" Daphne asked.

"After the new year," Harry said looking towards the door as he heard movement on the stairs.

"We'll let you know soon," Astoria said.

"Take your time," Harry said as dessert appeared in front of them and Lizzy ran into the room her hair still damp and wearing her pajamas.

"Chocolate," she squealed happily.

"It seems she has won Benjy over as well," Harry chuckled as Lizzy scrambled into her seat.

A couple of hours later when Lizzy was tucked in, Harry and Lavender climbed into their bed and settled n for the night.

"I talked to the pack about the move," Harry told her looking down to where her head was resting on his chest.

"How did it go?" Lavender asked lifting herself off of him and propping herself on her elbow so she could look him in the eye.

"Pretty well I think. Astoria and Daphne haven't made a decision yet but the others are in favor," Harry answered.

"That's good, have you decided where we should go," Lavender asked curiously.

"North America, the area has massive expanses of Wilderness for us to hunt. The only downside is that there are a lot of other wolf packs there. So it might take us time to find our own territory," Harry explained.

"It would still be better than living here," Lavender said unconcernedly.

"That's what I thought, I wish we had left after we busted open the werewolf camp, it would have been much easier," Harry admitted.

"I've been thinking that too, actually, I 've been wanting to leave Britain since they attacked the cottage back in July," Lavender confessed.

"Why didn't you say something?" Harry questioned.

"I thought I was being too hasty and that maybe things would get better, but every time we turn around there is a new threat. I'm tired of looking over my shoulder, Harry," Lavender said softly.

"I am too, if you want us out then we will get out one way or the other," Harry promised.

"Let's wait on the Greengrass sisters to make a decision. How are we going to leave anyway?" Lavender asked anyway.

"Most likely by boat, the ministry is probably monitoring the muggle ports and airports so we might have to stow away on a cargo ship or a fishing boat," Harry said after thinking it over.

"Once we cross the International boundaries between the U.K and France we can apparate, to the mainland" Lavender pointed out.

"True, that's about ten miles off the British coastline, give or take" Harry agreed.

"I'll talk to Sirius soon and see if he minds us using the property in France, it isn't like the order will find out we were there," Harry told her.

They talked for a bit more before they settled back down for the night, both pleased that they were starting to make plans to get the pack somewhere safer, somewhere they didn't have to hide who they were.

Harry felt Lavender's gentle snores on his bare chest and sighed in contentment, he lay there for a while listening to her breathing until he too drifted to sleep.

Pack Cottage, Wales, 11/13/1997, 13:46

Harry grinned proudly at his packmate, Justin had finally made the transformation to his wolf form.

This brought an end to the constant lessons, once the transformation was completed one time it came much easier.

He had still told them to practice on their own time to speed up how long it took them to transform.

Harry and Lavender could transform just as quickly as an animagus, the others were still taking much longer as they changed one part of their body at a time.

Harry had spoken to Sirius yesterday as he had told Lavender he would.

His godfather agreed to let the pack use the property but seemed upset about Harry's decision to move away from Britain, truthfully Harry felt no attachment to this country as he had grown up in France until he started Hogwarts.

The only reason he hadn't attended Beaux Baton Academy was that Sirius wanted Harry to experience Hogwarts as he and his father had, but Harry never had any love for the British wizarding world.

Sirius promised to stop by the cottage in the next few days so they could discuss Harry's plans in more detail and most likely so they could spend some time together. Harry could honestly say he mossed the days when it was just the two of them before the order took up so much of Sirius' time.

Harry had gotten his vengeance for the one who took part in killing his family but knew Sirius would not be satisfied until every last death eater had died. Sirius blamed them all for Pettigrew's defection, for the death of Harry's parents and would not give up the fight until they were all wiped out.

Harry had felt a sense of closure when he killed Dolohov, he never knew his parents but he still felt the need to seek justice for them. His mother and father never seemed real to him, he couldn't remember anything about them and all that he did know of them he learned from the stories Sirius used to tell him as a child.

Harry was pulled from his introspection when Lavender bumped his shoulder with hers.

"You looked a bit lost," Lavender said softly before taking another bite of her lamb.

"I was thinking about my childhood," Harry shrugged as he took a bite of his food.

"Oh, do you want to talk about it?" Lavender asked.

"Maybe later, what did I miss?" Hary asked.

"Just Lizzy explaining why she drew on the walls of the game room with crayons," Lavender chuckled letting the matter drop.

He always loved that about Lavender, she never pressed him on something like this she just waited until he came to her.

"How bad is it?" Harry asked in amusement.

"There are blue bunnies drawn all over the game room," Daphne said shaking her head.

"She'll be scrubbing it off with soap and water," Lavender assured Daphne.

"That will take her forever," Dennis said knowledgeably.

"I know my mother made me do it when I painted flowers on the living room walls," Lavender said.

"Harry, can we go see the thestrals after lunch?" Lizzy asked hopefully really laying on the pout.

"I don't think so, you have some rabbits to take care of," Harry said with a grin as her face fell.

"Well done Potter," Daphne complimented approvingly.

"Yes well I am going to go into the forest, don't make her work too hard," Harry said to Lavender.

"Don't worry she can work at her own pace," Lavender assured him though there was a glint in her eye that told him there was more to that statement.

"Really?" Lizzy asked hopefully.

"Sure, but you can't have any dessert until the walls are back to the way they were, no matter how many days it takes you," Lavender said casually.

"Oh boy," Harry said as he quickly left the dining room thinking how vindictive his mate could be when she wanted to, there was bound to be a tantrum in the near future, Harry could be sure of that.

Nott Manor, Nottingham, 11/14/1997, 23:56

Voldemort stood patiently on a balcony attached to the master bedroom of Thadeus' Nott's manor home waiting for his quarry to arrive.

The new wards Rookwood had created were in place, all they had to do is wait for Greyback to show up.

He had ordered Yaxley to detain Scabior as earlier this evening as he would be of great assistance to the mission tonight.

Even if the wolf pack didn't show up The man would die before the sun rose, Scabior was a liability and had outlived his usefulness.

He had twenty of his death eaters on stand by that had quite literally bathed in a vat of scent reduction potion that he had ordered Severus to brew for him.

They were all under powerful disillusionment charms that he had cast on them, they were currently flying in circles over the house keeping an eye out for werewolves.

He had picked men that he didn't mind losing, he had plenty of death eaters after all unfortunately he was running out of inner circle members.

His travel to the Balkans had born fruit, he had seen the night the elder wand was stolen from Gregorovich when he looked into the man's mind.

The thief looked familiar but he couldn't quite place it, he had to be more than a century old now yet he was sure he had seen the man before.

He had cast a spell on a quill that had charmed it to sketch the man he had seen in the memory, he had developed of staring at the sketch whenever he had a chance, hoping the man's name would come to him.

The new regime had stopped making progress, after the mudbloods had been purged from the wizarding world they discovered a serious problem.

There was a serious shortage in the labour force, the jobs the mudbloods had been doing before the purge were often labour-intensive or required a certain skill set that few purebloods possessed.

House-elves were really only good for cooking and doing household chores, they had trouble with technical jobs like etching hundreds of runes into a broomstick. The wizard economy was taking a dive between the lack of workers to make products and the large drop in people that were able to buyi products.

Truthfully Voldemort thought he might have made a mistake in shipping the mudbloods to Azkaban and had been toying with the idea of putting them to work manufacturing products that could bring in revenue into the collapsing economy.

Worse yet, there was recently an embargo placed on exporting anything to the British Isles, he suspected Lord Greengrass was behind this. Somehow the man had gotten wind of his interest in the Greengrass family and closed up shop in Britain and moved his family to the continent.

Some of his wealthier followers were already starting to feel the pinch as a lot of their businesses were reliant on items imported from Europe or the Americas.

His musings were interrupted when the stone in his pocket burned hot, there was a set of wards tied to the stone to alert him when the bracelet Greyback was wearing crossed the outer wardline.

Bringing a set of modified omnioculars up to his eyes he flipped a switch that would allow him to see in darkness. The image showed up in green but he was easily able to see the wardline and beyond. Scanning through tbe darkness he turned his head looking over the area near the forest for werewolves.

Looking into the room behind him he saw scabior desperately fighting his invisible bonds and figured now was a good time to give him the potion.

Walking into the room he picked up the flask from the nightstand and waved his wand over it vanishing its contents into Sebastian's stomach.

Voldemort watched curiously as the man's skin bubbled and he seemed to age before his eyes. Scabior's hair greyed, his skin wrinkled, and he seemed to shrink in size quickly taking on the appearance of Thadeus Nott.

It really was a fitting punishment for Sabastian to be eaten alive by Greyback, the man had been aiding Greyback in killing his death eaters, he was about to suffer the same fate.

'He only has himself to blame for what was about to happen to him, he was the one who informed Greyback that Nott was vulnerable tonight,' Voldemort thought amusedly as he stepped back out on the balcony.

He picked up the optics and scanned the area again, after a few minutes he spotted almost a dozen werewolves slinking across the lawn towards the house. He could easily make out Fenrir in the lead as he was much larger than the others and had grey fur covering his back.

Reaching into his pocket he activated the outer wards and felt them fall silently into place. No one would be able to leave the Nott property until he released the wards.

Casting a powerful disillusionment charm on himself followed by a scent blocking ward over the door to the balcony and waited patiently. It wouldn't take long for Greyback to enter the Master bedroom and take care of the traitor polyjuiced to look like Thadeus Nott.

Voldemort felt his excitement build when he heard the front door crash open, he watched in amusement as Scabior fought his bonds even more desperately than before as he heard the sound of many feet coming up the stairs.

Voldemort squeezed the runestone in his pocket again and the doors and windows of the manor disappeared the openings turning into solid stone except for the balcony door he was standing in front of.

The bedroom door burst open and Greyback stalked into the room not noticing the runes etched into the floor six inches apart in a grid pattern.

Voldemort watched Greyback leap onto the bed and latch his jaws over Scabior's head as eight more werewolves entered the room.

When he saw no more werewolves coming into the room Voldemort pressed his thumb to the runestone in his pocket a third time.

Silver pikes an inch in diameter shot upwards almost faster than the eye could see from every one of the runes etched into the floor, they didn't stop until their pointed tips were buried in the ceiling.

The only part of the room that the pikes didn't burst upwards from was the area the bed was located, he wanted Greyback alive after all.

These pikes acted like bars effectively caging Greyback in a forest of pikes, there was also the added benefit of every other werewolf in the room being impaled on multiple pikes.

The spacing of the pikes made it so most were killed almost instantly. Voldemort was pleased with the results, the eight werewolves were suspended about two feet in the air and slowly sliding down the pikes to the floor leaving a trail of blood smeared over the spikes and dripping onto the floor.

Voldemort dropped his disillusionment charm and walked into the room the pikes directly in front of him sinking back into the floor clearing him a small path, he stopped about four feet away from Greyback leaving row after row of bars separating him from the enraged creature.

"Rest up Fenrir, we'll talk more in the morning," Voldemort smirked as the wolf lunged at him only to smash into the unyielding bars of his temporary cage.

He took a minute to observe the beast he was surrounded on three sides by silver bars many rows thick, the fourth side of his cage was the stone wall of the manor and very strongly built.

Satisfied that the beast was contained for the night he made his way back out to the balcony.

Nott Manor, Nottingham, 11/15/1997, 06:43

Voldemort had conjured a chair on the balcony and waited patiently for the sun to rise, he would not risk the mongrel escaping by his lack of diligence.

Fenrir was so noisy he ended up casting a muffliato spell over the balcony and stared at the picture of the unknown thief trying to remember the man's name.

Voldemort looked up and Noticed that Greyback was starting to turn back to his human form, Fenrir was down on his hands and knees looking a little disoriented.

He also noticed that Scabior was nothing more than a bloody mess on the kingsized bed (no doubt Greyback had taken his frustration out on the corpse) he supposed Thaddeus would have to purchase a new mattress.

Voldemort canceled the muffliato spell and entered the room noticing the dead werewolves had reverted to their human forms as well, they all looked to all be in their mid-teens to late-teens.

"Good morning Fenrir," Voldemort said as he followed the path he had made last night in the pikes going a bit further this time so only one row of pikes seperated them.

"YOU SON OF A BITCH, I'LL KILL YOU FOR THIS, WIZARD!" Greyback bellowed angrily.

"CRUCIO!" Voldemort hissed in a cold tone the spell slamming into the enraged werewolf making him howl in agony.

"Manners halfbreed," Voldemort tsked as he let the spell drop.

"W-why didn't you just k-kill me you no nosed fucking bastard?" Fenrir growled.

"Because I plan to use you to sniff out my enemies, CRUCIO," Voldemort said finishing with a hiss as he hit the werewolf with the torture curse again.

Voldemort held the spell a bit longer before releasing it, " what did I say about your manners, Fenrir?" Voldemort asked silkily.

"Fuck you! Go ahead and do your worst I'll never help you!" Greyback growled the cruciatus only seeming to enrage him more.

"You won't have a choice, do you remember this?" Voldemort asked as he summoned a familiar collar from where it was sitting on the handrail of the balcony and held it up for Fenrir to see.

The collar was made of silver, it was about an inch wide and a half-inch thick. It was made of interconnected links similar to the band on a Rolex, each link had a small runic array etched into it that took Rookwood almost a month of etching to create.

Greyback screamed in fury and threw himself at the bars trying to reach through and grab the dark lord's throat,

Voldemort lazily flicked his wand and the six bars in front of Greyback bent and contorted wrapping themselves around Greyback's wrists like ropes. They pulled him down and off of the bed as they sank into the floor forcing the werewolf into a bow.

Greyback struggled against the metal wrapped around him holding his wrists to the floor.

"Good, you're in your proper place," Voldemort said as he hit the downed werewolf with a body bind and leaned down clicking the collar into place around Greyback's neck, the collar flashed with a bright green light as the collar sized itself to fit him like a choker.

"I had Rookwood refine the design a bit, now you will obey my every command without question, this will give me complete control over you," Voldemort said pleasantly as he stood up straight and cancelled tbe body bind.

"What do you want me to do?" Greyback said in a monotone reminiscent of someone under the imperius curse.

"Lead my men to the Wales pack on the next full moon, then I want you to kill their alpha while my men deal with his pack," Voldemort commanded as he reached into his pocket and pressed the runestone with his thumb a fourth time.

This dropped all of the wards over the house, the pikes sank back into the floor, the doors and windows unsealed, and the lockdown wards went dormant once again.

He would gift the control stone to Thaddeus so his old friend could enjoy these upgraded defence wards, the dark lord was feeling rather generous at the moment.

"Come along, Fenrir, we have a lot of work to do," Voldemort said as he flicked his wand causing the silver bars holding Greyback to release him.

Fenrir obediently got to his feet following behind him as he walked out of the room.

'Not a bad night's work,' Voldemort thought as he led Greyback out of the house.

Pack Cottage, Wales, 11/15/1997, 07:42

Harry and the others were seated at the table, last night had been so boring, they had eaten chunks of beef and lazed on the lawn, every once in a while Harry would walk the perimeter looking for anything unusual.

It was one of the most monotonous transformations he had experienced since he was forced to transform in the Shrieking Shack.

Hopefully next month they could enjoy the full moon.

Harry's thoughts were interrupted when Benjy appeared in front of them with a soft 'pop' holding the communication mirror looking concerned worried.

Harry didn't ask any questions and accepted the mirror seeing Sirius' worried face looking back at him.

"What's the matter?" Harry asked.

"Longbottom had a vision this morning," Sirius said in a shaky voice.

"Alright, I didn't know he was a seer," Harry said dumbly as he propped the mirror against the juice pitcher.

"He's not, he has some kind of link with no-nose, anyway what he saw concerns all of you," Sirius said looking if possible even more worried.

"Alright come over and bring Longbottom with you," Harry said not wanting to have this conversation where Lizzy could overhear it.

"Give me about an hour and I'll be over," Sirius said before closing the connection.

"What do you think that is about?" Justin asked from across the table.

"No idea but it takes a lot to shake Sirius up like that," Harry said seriously.

"Daphne will you watch Lizzy when Sirius gets here, I promise I will fill you in?" Harry asked.

"Yes," Daphne said at once, she had a neutral expression but he could see the concern in her eyes.

The rest of breakfast was silent as everyone was waiting anxiously to learn what it was Sirius that Sirius had found out.

What seemed like an eternity but was probably only thirty minutes, Sirius stepped out of the sitting room fireplace followed by Neville and Hermione.

Daphne excused herself from the table as the three new arrivals took a seat.

"Are you hungry?" Harry asked.

"No, we already ate," Longbottom said as he looked Harry in the eye, "Greyback is coming for you and your pack...
