A portal appears in a large open chamber in the middle of Brainiac's ship. Alex, Brainy, J'onn, Kara, Kelly, and Nia step out of it.
As the team looks around, taking in their new surroundings, the ship starts humming to life. Large, glowing glass bottles begin lowering from the domed ceiling, each filled with bright globes or expansive city scapes.
Nia wishfully observes, "Please tell me those are decorative holograms."
Brainy's disgust is unmistakable. "They are not. They are shrunken worlds and cities, stolen…"
"I prefer curated," a disembodied voice booms throughout the chamber.
"Where are you Brainiac!?", Kara shouts.
In a grandiose and intimidating tone, "I AM…. EVERYWHERE!"
Nanobots begin to swarm in concentrated groups throughout the chamber, surrounding the team, transforming into spider-like mechanical creatures.
The nano-spiders slowly press in upon the team as the booming voice announces, "Querl Dox! Surrender yourself for transport back to where you belong and I'll spare you the pain of watching your pathetic friends die slow, painful deaths. Give yourself up and I promise to dispatch them quickly."
"Vril Dox," Brainy retorts, "Your hubris will be your downfall. I calculate there is a 100% chance you've underestimated my family and me. I am where I belong!" He reaches to his right and grabs hold of Nia's hand, "Now it's time for you to go back to where you belong!"
The nano-spiders begin to attack the team.
Kara slices through a group of them with her heat vision, Nia uses dream whips to lasso spiders and slam them against the inner hull, Brainy uses the power of his Legion ring to smash spiders together, while Alex, J'onn, and Kelly battle spiders in close quarters utilizing their well honed fighting skills to defeat them.
"We need to locate Jackson!," Kara exclaims.
Alex shouts, "You, Brainy, and J'onn look for the lab where Nia saw him in her first dream vision. We'll keep these things occupied here."
J'onn remarks, "Let's go!"
Brainy, J'onn, and Kara take flight high in the dome, weaving between the bottles, looking for a way out of the chamber when Kara catches sight of a familar city scape. Kara's eyes widen as she recognizes, "Kandor...".
As she starts flying closer to the bottle to confirm her suspicion she hears Brainy shout, "Over here!"
Kara veers left and follows Brainy and J'onn out of the chamber, landing in a dimly lit corridor.
As the trio walks down the hallway a bright red light illuminates the space. Nanobots start to seep out of the walls, forming more nano-spiders which begin attacking.
As they fight back Kara starts to feel a tingling sensation throughout her body. One of the spiders swipes at her and cuts her leg.
"Owww!", she winces in pain and drops to one knee. "How??"
The booming voice returns and cackles, "A gift from home Kryptonian!"
Brainy ascertains, "It's a red sun generator! Your powers are gone!"
"Not for long," Kara exclaims. "There may have been a red sun where I was born, but I brought something from my home!"
She taps the House of El crest on her chest and a protective suit begins to encase her. A helmet takes shape around her head and a shield slides into place over face.
"Hey, beautiful," Lena greets Kara. "Kryptonite protection suit is on line and yellow sun radiation levels are increasing."
Kara beams, "You're always so good to me!"
"That's why you love me," Lena reminds her.
"Damn right!", Kara exclaims as she punches through a nano-spider.
Brainy, J'onn, and Kara continue to fight there way down the corridor as new nano-spiders continue to form as quickly as they can dispatch them. As the nanobots continue to seep out of the walls Kara uses her x-ray vision to try and figure out where they are eminating from and notices well concealed disbursal tubes embedded throughout the corridor. She focuses her heat vision up-and-down the lenght of each wall sealing them off.
As they dispatch the last of the spiders a doorway opens to their left. They all look at each other with the same thought, "It's gotta be a trap."
"So," Brainy inquires, "what do we do?"
Kara chimes in with a quirky grin, "We spring the trap, padawan."
J'onn crosses the threshold first, followed by Kara, and then Brainy. As Brainy makes it into the room the door swiftly closes behind them and a containment beam shoots down from the ceiling surrounding Brainy.
A light fills the far end of the room illuminating a large throne like chair in which Jackson Seaver's body is seated, but the bright green glowing eyes reveal Brainiac is in control.
"Supergirl, Martian Manhunter," Brainiac gloats, "so good of you to deliver my prey." Brainiac rises from his throne and steps toward the heros. "Querl Dox, I gave you the chance to do this the easy way. Now, because of your insolence you will watch your so-called 'family' die slowly and painfully."
An image of Alex, Kelly, and Nia in the anti-chamber fills a wall to their left. The ladies are fighting admirably, but they are beginning to be overwhelmed.
J'onn reaches out to Kara telepathically, "We need to drive him back towards the shadow behind his throne."
Kara nods in agreement and they engage with Brainiac.
Back on the Legion ship Lena types feverishly at a control panel. Agent Cho turns in a chair at another console to her right and says, "The probe is ready, Mage!"
"Okay," she acknowledges, "be ready to drop the containment field and activate the portal on my command."
"Yes ma'ma!", Cho replies.
Andrea walks up next to Lena, "What's happening in there?"
"I'm trying to use the signal from Kara's suit to tap into Brainiac's internal sensors so we can see…", Lena tapers off as images begin to appear on the bridge monitors. "Agent Cho, send a squad through to the original coordinates to assist Dreamer, Guardian, and Sentinel!"
"They're on their way," Cho confirms.
"Andrea, keep an eye on that one there," Lena points to the monitor showing the ongoing confrontation in Brainiac's throne room. "Be ready to phase over as soon as they pin him back to the shadows."
As Andrea carefully watches the fight unfold, "I'm on it!"
The gauntlets on Brainiac's hands fire plasma pulses at J'onn and Kara.
J'onn phases, letting the beam pass through him. Kara deflects a beam with her armor coated hand and fires a heat vision blast back at him.
Brainiac's eyes glow more brightly as the circular center piece of his belt energizes, projecting a defense shield that absorbs the heat vision.
J'onn reaches out to Kara again, "He's too strong to manipulate from this distance. He'll stand his ground indefinitely if we don't change tactics."
Kara thinks, "You're right! Plan B! I'll distract him and take a hit while you phase through the floor, over to him, come up from behind or beside, and knock him behind the throne."
Kara surveys her surroundings for a split second and notices large tentacles coming down from the ceiling, connecting down to Brainiac's throne. She blasts one loose from the ceiling, causing it to swing wildly toward Brainiac. As the Coluan dodges the tentacle J'onn phases through the floor unobserved. Kara dashes toward Brainiac intent on striking a physical blow, but is stopped in her tracks just inches from him.
Brainiac remarks scornfully, "You petulant creature! You fancy yourself the savior of this world, but your pitiful powers are laughable in comparison to my intellectual superiority."
"Really?", Kara sardonically retorts as she nods to her left, "if you're so smart, how did he get here?"
Before Brainiac can react J'onn strikes him with a powerful blow that knocks the deranged Coluan into shadow behind his throne.
J'onn telepathically searches for Andrea, "Now, Acrata!"
As Brainiac rights himself to recommence the battle a figure materializes out of the shadows behind him and attaches the latttice to his forehead.
Jackson Seaver's green glowing eyes become transfixed, his body stiffens, and he falls back to the floor.
The containment field holding Brainy in place drops. Brainy rushes over to the throne area, looks down at Jackson, and the three nodes on his chest light up, "Let me in, Vril Dox. Time to end this."
