After an encounter with some aliens, Ianto has to rescue Jack and capture the alien.

AU from End of Days, Janto. Ianto decides with Jack gone it is time he goes on his own search for truth. And so he gets in touch with his own, alien, roots and begins the task of discovering who - or what - destroyed the rest of his species.
